While working on iphone security architecture, i came to know that i can run applications from other applications in iphone. referring to the following url http://iphonedevelopertips.com/cocoa/launching-other-apps-within-an-iphone-application.html for example, i can put a link in a website with following hyperlink skype:// will result skype to run and call at particular number. Now i have few concerns here. is there a shell running in background in iphone, so that it allows other application to run basic app commands. if the above statement is true then how can i enable or run commands directly into iphone shell? if above statements are false, then could you please explain how these commands are being executed? is this part of iPhone SDK? or this funcationality is iPhone OS

telerik mvc grid access cell data to enable columns.Command

Hi! I can't seem to find a way to reference the value in a column in the grid, in my case it is the StatusId. Based on the cell value in this row, for the StatusId, I need to return a true or false to the method ".Visible(???)". It would be nice to find the answer in the documentation online but I haven't been able to. I find it hard to believe that I would be the first person who ever needed this functionality. Pass elements of a list as arguments to a function in python

I'm building a simple interpreter in python and I'm having trouble handling differing numbers of arguments to my functions. My current method is to get a list of the commands/arguments as follows. args = str(raw_input('>> ')).split() com = args.pop(0) Then to execute com, I check to see if it is in my dictionary of command- code mappings and if it is I call the function I have stored there. For a command with no arguments, this would look like: commands[com]() However, if a command had multiple arguments, I would want this: commands[com](args[0],args[1]) Is there some trick where I could pass some (or all) of the elements of my arg list to the function that I'm trying to call? Or is there a better way of implementing this without having to use python's cmd class?

I am trying to implement a linux shell that supports piping. I have already done simple commands, commands running in background, redirections, but piping is still missing. I have already read about it and seen some snippets of code, but still haven't been able to sort out a working solution. What I have so far: int fd[2]; pid_t pid = fork(); if (pid == -1) return -1; if (pid == 0) { dup2(0, fd[0]); execlp("sort", "sort", NULL); } I am a novice programmer, as you can probably tell, and when I am programming something I don't know much about, this being obviously the case, I like to start with something really easy and concrete and then build from there. So, before being able to implement three and more different commands in pipeline, I would like to be able to compute "ls names.txt | sort" or something similiar, in which names.txt is a file of names alfabetically unordered. Running pl/sql in Korn Shell(AIX)

I have a file to execute in Ksh written by someone. It has a set of commands to execute in sqlplus. It starts with, sqlplus -s $UP <<- END followed by a set of ddl commands such as create,drop,etc., When I execute the file in the shell, I get the error in the starting line quoted above. I understand "-s" starts the sqlplus in silent mode and $UP is the connection string with username/password. But I couldn't make heads or tails of "<<- END" part(Many sites from google says input redirection is "<<" not "<<-"). So I presumed the error must be in that part and removed it from the file. Now it reads, sqlplus -s $UP But once I execute the file, It waits for input from the shell, instead of reading the rest of the lines from the file. How would I make sqlplus to execute the ddl commands in the rest of the file?. Thanks in advance.

How do I run a vim script that alters the current buffer?

I'm trying to write a beautify.vim script that makes C-like code adhere to a standard that I can easily read. My file contains only substitution commands that all begin with %s/... However, when I try to run the script with my file open, in the manner :source beautify.vim, or :runtime beautify.vim, it runs but all the substitute commands state that their pattern wasn't found (patterns were tested by entering them manually and should work). Is there some way to make vim run the commands in the context of the current buffer? beautify.vim: " add spaces before open braces sil! :%s/\%>1c>\s\@<!{/ {/g " beautify for sil! :%s/for *( *\([^;]*\) *; *\([^;]*\) *; *\([^;]*\) *)/for (\1; \2; \3)/ " add spaces after commas sil! :%s/,\s\@!/, /g In my tests the first :s command should match (it matches when applied manually).

Hello everyone, I've got the following two commands for imagemagick in the command line: convert in.png container-mask.png +matte -compose CopyOpacity -composite out.png composite container.png out.png -compose multiply final.png Those two commands include 3 files: in.png: the file that should be masked container-mask.png: the back/white mask of the areas of container.png where in.png should be visible container.png image that includes the container for in.png, the one that has been masked in black/white with container-mask.png Now the question is how to transpose this commands into PHP calls. Best way to order menu items injected by an IoC/plugin Framework

One of the common things I've seen done in applications built on IoC/plugin frameworks is to add commands to menus or toolbars from the dynamically loaded plugins. For example, the application's default plugins supply actions like "New, Open, Save" that show up in the context menu for a certain item in the workspace. A new plugin may add "Mail, Post, Encrypt" commands, but where do those commands show up in relation to "New, Open, Save"? How can the application that is loading components through IoC impose order on the items that get injected? Does it require metadata from the plugins that give a hint on how to group or order the items? Does it use a config file of previously known menu names (or ids) to define the order (seems a little weak to me)? Or are "unknown" plugins treated as second class citizens and always get dumped into sub menus? Something I've never even imagined (which I'm hoping to see in the answers)

Is there a single Git command to get the current tag, branch and commit?

I'm currently using a collection of three commands to get the current tag, branch and the date and SHA1 of the most recent commit. git describe --always --tag git log -1 --format="%H%n%aD" git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD Which will output something like: 1.2.3-gdeadbeef deadbeef3b8d90071c24f51ac8f26ce97a72727b Wed, 19 May 2010 09:12:34 +0200 master To be honest, I'm totally fine with this. But I'm using these commands from Maven and anyone who'd used Maven before, knows how much things like external commands bloat the POM. I just want to slim down my pom.xml and maybe reduce execution time a bit.

How to handle inputs in a C shell program during exec

I am currently writing my own shell program. This simple shell can just execute commands. When executing commands like vi or calc which require input from the terminal , the command is getting executed and is waiting for the input from the user. But I am unable to give any input on the screen. How should the input be handled during the fork and exec. CMD Execption Handling C/C++

I will use some CMD commands in my program and these commands might throw some exceptions. And as you know, when an exception accours, CMD writes its own error message the screen. But, I want to write my own error message. My question is this: Is there a way to block CMD messages and write only my own error messages? P.S. This is not a complex program. It executes CMD commands using System(). Example: Let's say, the user can rename and copy any files in the program. As you know, if the user does not enter file's path properly, an error message is showed on the screen. And I want that this error message never appears on the screen. Only my own error message is showed. Thank you!

Looking for python lib to manage remote tasks

Hi, I have server with django on it, this server runs some manage.py commands and update database. Now I need to move some of this tasks to different servers. I don't want to allow remote db access and need some tool\lib to be able to start task on remote servers by main server's command and update tasks code/add new tasks. I have ssh access to every server, all servers run under debian and all code in python. I was thiking about creating my own xmpp based solution(server sends messages to slave servers with commands to execute, like "update task", "run task"), or maybe some low-level ssh based solution where main server logs to slave servers and executes bash commands. But I would be happy to hear any advices.

Long list of if statements in Java

Hi, Sorry I can't find a question answering this, I'm almost certain someone else has raised it before. My problem is that I'm writing some system libraries to run embedded devices. I have commands which can be sent to these devices over radio broadcasts. This can only be done by text. inside the system libraries I have a thread which handles the commands which looks like this if (value.equals("A") { doCommandA() } else if (value.equals"B") { doCommandB() } else if etc. The problem is that there are a lot of commands to it will quickly spiral to something out of control. Horrible to look out, painful to debug and mind boggling to understand in a few months time.

i am thinking to create a To Do list sort of thing for my Project work. it's sort of a To do list type thing, meant for Multiple Users. i mean each user will have his Login and Password , to access into his account or profile and from there he/she can Manage his own To-Do list. it's has to be Kind of like Remember the Milk sort of. Every user will have his own To Do list. i mean now as Different users will have Different To Dos to perform and so different To Dos Lists, if for data fields like in tabular form. Task || Priority || Deadline || Number of days required ||Status. -----||----------||----------||-------------------------||-------------------- -----||----------||----------||-------------------------||-------------------- -----||----------||----------||-------------------------||-------------------- So what i meant to ask , Can this type of thing be done using MySQL as database and and any web based server side language PHP, ASP, JSP. i mean Can this be done through RDBMS like MySQL, for here different member users will have different to do lists than each others to keep and maintain.

Well recently I've been reading about different Denial of Service methods. One method that kind of stuck out was SYN flooding. I'm a member of some not-so-nice forums, and someone was selling a python script that would DoS a server using SYN packets with a spoofed IP address. However, if you sent a SYN packet to a server, with a spoofed IP address, the target server would return the SYN/ACK packet to the host that was spoofed. In which case, wouldn't the spoofed host return an RST packet, thus negating the 75 second long-wait, and ultimately failing in its attempt to DoS the server?

Why can't windows see mmcblk0p3? [closed]

The partition is created on the embedded linux target like this # n - new # p - partition # 3 - partition 3 # 66 - starting cylinder # <blank> - maximum size for the ending cylinder # t - set file system type # 3 - partition 3 # c - set to windows vfat # w - write partition table and exit echo -e "n\np\n3\n66\n\nt\n3\nc\nw" | fdisk /dev/mmcblk0 The file system is then formatted on the embedded linux target as MS-DOS like this # -n volume-name # -F FAT-size mkfs.vfat -n DB -F 32 /dev/mmcblk0p3 A linux host can mount and access files in mmcblk0p3 without issue. Why can't windows? Edit: Although the default number of FATS is 2 I tried adding -f 2 [number-of-FATs] since this is actually being done by busybox on an embedded platform but this didn't help. I understand the Linux MS-DOS file system does not support more than 2 FATs but there are only 2 on this target (the boot is also FAT which is visible), along with and EXT3 (on p2) for the root file system.

How can I mount .IMG floppy disk images which are not 1.44MB or any other floppy format?

I have several .IMG files, but they are different sizes which do not comform to any floppy disk format, i.e. not 1.44MB, 720K, 2.88MB... these .IMG files are like 420K, 832K, etc. Additional info: Winimage, rar, Magic ISO... none of these worked. The files I want to download are located in www.vetusware.com under DBMSOracle6. They are 2 files in rar format, but when I extract the rar's, I get forty-two .IMG files with varied sizes, not 1.44MB, etc. If anyone could please give it a try and succeed in mounting or reading the extractd IMG files, I would appreciate you letting me know how you achieved it, I really need this legacy Oracle 6/DOS version!.. How can I run Ghost from a bootable USB key drive?

I have a laptop that does not have a cd-rom or floppy drive. It is able to boot from USB though. I have a disk image (ghost) of the disk that I need to restore back onto the laptop. I can't find a way to actually run the Ghost utility from a USB key though. I believe the ghost.exe should run from within DOS just fine but I can't seem to create a bootable USB key with DOS on it that allows me to run an EXE. Edit: I managed to find a Ghost utility that I could load from a bootable USB drive. Unfortunately, when I plug in my NTFS external drive (USB), it is not detected.

ISA bus on newer computers

Are there companies that sell new computers that support old ISA bus expansion cards? We have an aging computer running DOS that operates some machinery via an ISA interface board. Updated versions of this board (e.g. PCI, USB) are not available, and I am concerned about the long-term reliability of the 8+ year old computers we currently keep around as backups. If these newer ISA-capable machines exist, are there any general gotchas to be aware of in terms of compatibility with older expansion boards, ability to run DOS, etc.?

Windows 7 - XP Mode - Apache

I've setup Virtual PC and XP Mode on my Windows 7 Pro. Using Apache 2.0.52 I have no problems having my website up and running on the Windows 7 machine. But Under VPC/XP Mode the best I can do is Localhost mode. What do I need to do to enable http connections? I need the XP Mode as besides the website I also run a Web BBS and a Dos based (via telnet) BBS. Some of the apps in the Dos BBS just won't work under 64 bit, no matter what setting (capability) are used. Thanks in advance...
