• Add data to Django form class using modelformset_factory

  I have a problem where I need to display a lot of forms for detail data for a hierarchical data set. I want to display some relational fields as labels for the forms and I'm struggling with a way to do this in a more robust way. Here is the code... class Category(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=160) class Item(models.Model): category = models.ForeignKey('Category') name = models.CharField(max_length=160) weight = models.IntegerField(default=0) class Meta: ordering = ('category','weight','name') class BudgetValue(models.Model): value = models.IntegerField() plan = models.ForeignKey('Plan') item = models.ForeignKey('Item') I use the modelformset_factory to create a formset of budgetvalue forms for a particular plan. What I'd like is item name and category name for each BudgetValue. When I iterate through the forms each one will be labeled properly. class BudgetValueForm(forms.ModelForm): item = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Item.objects.all(),widget=forms.HiddenInput()) plan = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Plan.objects.all(),widget=forms.HiddenInput()) category = "" < assign dynamically on form creation > item = "" < assign dynamically on form creation > class Meta: model = BudgetValue fields = ('item','plan','value') What I started out with is just creating a dictionary of budgetvalue.item.category.name, budgetvalue.item.name, and the form for each budget value. This gets passed to the template and I render it as I intended. I'm assuming that the ordering of the forms in the formset and the querset used to genererate the formset keep the budgetvalues in the same order and the dictionary is created correctly. That is the budgetvalue.item.name is associated with the correct form. This scares me and I'm thinking there has to be a better way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi people. I have a question about reflection I am trying to have some kind of eval() method. So i can call for example: eval("test('woohoo')"); Now I understand the there is no eval method in java but there is reflection. I made the following code: String s = "test"; Class cl = Class.forName("Main"); Method method = cl.getMethod(s, String.class); method.invoke(null, "woohoo"); This works perfectly (of course there is a try, catch block around this code). It runs the test method. However I want to call multiple methods who all have different parameters. I don't know what parameters these are (so not only String.class). But how is this possible? how can I get the parameter types of a method ? I know of the following method: Class[] parameterTypes = method.getParameterTypes(); But that will return the parameterTypes of the method I just selected! with the following statement: Method method = cl.getMethod(s, String.class); Any help would be appreciated !

• Use $_FILES on a page called by .ajax

  I have two .php pages that I'm working with. Index.php has a file upload form that posts back to index.php. I can access the $_FILES no problem on index.php after submitting the form. My issue is that I want (after the form submit and the page loads) to use .ajax (jQuery) to call another .php file so that file can open and process some of the rows and return the results to ajax. The ajax then displays the results and recursively calls itself to process the next batch of rows. Basically I want to process (put in the DB etc) the csv in chunks and display it for the user in between chunks. Im doing it this way because the files are 400,000+ rows and the user doesnt want to wait the 10+ min for them all to be processed. I dont want to move this file (save it) because I just need to process it and throw it away and if a user closes the page while its processing the file wont be thrown away. I could cron script it but I dont want to. What I would really like to do is pass the (single) $_FILES through .ajax OR Save it in a $_POST or $_SESSION to use on the second page. Is there any hope for my cause? • How do I Unit Test Actions without Mocking that use UpdateModel?

  I have been working my way through Scott Guthrie's excellent post on ASP.NET MVC Beta 1. In it he shows the improvements made to the UpdateModel method and how they improve unit testing. I have recreated a similar project however anytime I run a UnitTest that contains a call to UpdateModel I receive an ArgumentNullException naming the controllerContext parameter. I'm also assuming that I'm doing something wrong somewhere and just need to pointed in the right direction. Help Please!

• Wrapping FUSE from Go

  I'm playing around with wrapping FUSE with Go. However I've come stuck with how to deal with struct fuse_operations. I can't seem to expose the operations struct by declaring type Operations C.struct_fuse_operations as the members are lower case, and my pure-Go sources would have to use C-hackery to set the members anyway. My first error in this case is "can't set getattr" in what looks to be the Go equivalent of a default copy constructor. My next attempt is to expose an interface that expects GetAttr, ReadLink etc, and then generate C.struct_fuse_operations and bind the function pointers to closures that call the given interface. If it is possible, what should I do? How can I provide the "default" values for interface functions that acts as though the corresponding C.struct_fuse_operations member is set to NULL?

• How can I find out what is stopping my object from disposing properly?

  I have a rather large and complex game in C#, and in it are various monsters. The monsters are created in the game by a MonsterCreator, and each monster has various plugins that are loaded from external DLLs. When my monsters die, they call a method in the MonsterCreator, and the MonsterCreator removes them from the game map, removes them from its own internal list of monsters, and then finally calls the Dispose() method on the monster itself. The dispose method calls the dispose method of each plugin, then clears up any of its own code. This seems to work fine, with lots of monsters, but somewhere there is a bug that crops up after a while, where a monster dies, but it has already been removed - it seems the callback telling the MonsterCreator is being called over and over, when the monster should have been removed on the first call. The likely candidate is that some of the plugins for the monster register themselves with an Event that pulses them every X number of seconds so they can perform logic. Stepping through I can see that they are unregistering with the Event when they die, but something is getting through still and I don't know what it is. Do you have any advice for debugging the problem? I can't post code really because it's split across a ton of libraries and plugin dlls, so it's more a case of figuring out the best way to debug it. I threw an exception in code when the monster died callback method is thrown and the monster cannot be found on the map to be removed, so I have the misbehaviing Monster, is there a way I can see what is still linked to it?

• batch file to merge .js files from subfolders into one combined file

  I'm struggling to get this to work. Plenty of examples on the web, but they all do something just slightly different to what I'm aiming to do, and every time I think I can solve it, I get hit by an error that means nothing to me. After giving up on the JSLint.VS plugin, I'm attempting to create a batch file that I can call from a Visual Studio build event, or perhaps from cruise control, which will generate JSLint warnings for a project. The final goal is to get a combined js file that I can pass to jslint, using: cscript jslint.js < tmp.js which would validate that my scripts are ready to be combined into one file for use in a js minifier, or output a bunch of errors using standard output. but the js files that would make up tmp.js are likely to be in multiple subfolders in the project, e.g: D:\_projects\trunk\web\projectname\js\somefile.debug.js D:\_projects\trunk\web\projectname\js\jquery\plugins\jquery.plugin.js The ideal solution would be to be able to call a batch file along the lines of: jslint.bat %ProjectPath% and this would then combine all the js files within the project into one temp js file. This way I would have flexibility in which project was being passed to the batch file. I've been trying to make this work with copy, xcopy, type, and echo, and using a for do loop, with dir /s etc, to make it do what I want, but whatever I try I get an error.

• Using hash tables in racket

  Im working on an Ngrams program and im having trouble filling out my hash table. i want to write out a recursive function that will take the words and add them to the hash table. The way its supposed to work is given the data set 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 the first entry in the hash table should have a key of [1 2] and the data should be 3. The second entry should be: [2 3] and its data should be 4 and continuing on until the end of the text file. we are given a predefined function called readword that will simply return 1 word from the text. But im not sure how to make these calls overlap each other. The calls would look something like this if the data was hard coded in. (hash-set! (list "1" "2") 3 (hash-set! (list "2" "3") 4 2 calls that ive tried look like this (hash-set! Ngram-table(list((word1) (word2)) readword in))) (hash-set! Ngram-table(append((cdr data) word1)) readword in) apparently the in after readword is supposed to tell the computer that this is and input instead of an output or something like that. How would I call this to make the data in the key of the hashtable overlap like this? And what would the recursive call look like? edit: also we are not allowed to use assigment statements in this program.

• How to add an image to an SSRS report with a dynamic url?

  I'm trying to add an image to a report. The image src url is an IHttpHandler that takes a few query string parameters. Here's an example: <img src="Image.ashx?item=1234567890&lot=asdf&width=50" alt=""/> I added an Image to a cell and then set Source to External and Value to the following expression: ="Image.ashx?item="+Fields!ItemID.Value+"&lot="+Fields!LotID.Value+"&width=50" But when I view the report, it renders the image html as: <IMG SRC="" /> What am I missing? Update Even if I set Value to "image.jpg" it still renders an empty src attribute. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm using this with a VS 2008 ReportViewer control in Remote processing mode. Update I was able to get the images to display in the Report Designer (VS 2005) with an absolute path (http://server/path/to/http/handler). But they didn't display on the Report Manager website. I even set up an Unattended Execution Account that has access to the external URLs.

  I have an SL3 application that needs to be able to pass an image to the server, and then the server will generate a PDF file with the image in it, and display it to the user. What I already have in place are the following: (1) Code to convert image to byte array (2) Code to generate PDF file with image The main problem that I am running into is the following: In order to bypass the pop-up blocker, which is a requirement for my application, I am using the following code: var button = new NavigationButton(); button.NavigateUri = new Uri("http://localhost:3616/PrintReport.aspx?ReportIndex=11&ActionType=Get&ReportIdentifier=" + reportIdentifier.ToString() + ""); button.TargetName = "_blank"; button.PerformClick(); Initially, I would pass the image to a WCF web service (as a byte array), and then "navigate" to the ASP.NET page that would display the report. However, if I do this, then I can not use my custom HyperlinkButton class, and, certain browsers, including Safari, will block a new window from opening up. Therefore, it appears that the only option is to use the HyperlinkButton class. What I need to be able to do is to somehow pass the image, as a byte array or some other data type, to the server, such that it can temporarily store the image, even if it is in a server variable, and then immediately retrieve it when I navigate to the PrintReport.aspx page. If I upload the image to an ASP.NET form and then use the HyperlinkButton class to navigate to the PrintReport page, it doesn't work, as the app navigates to the PrintReport page before the system has finished uploading the image. I can't pass it to a web service, as that would require that I navigate to the PrintReport.aspx page in the callback code of the web method that I would be passing the image to, and the HyperlinkButton will not allow that, based on security rules. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Chris

• Rails: Create method available in all views and all models

  I'd like to define a method that is available in both my views and my models Say I have a view helper: def foo(s) "hello #{s}" end A view might use the helper like this: <div class="data"><%= foo(@user.name) %></div> However, this <div> will be updated with a repeating ajax call. I'm using a to_json call in a controller returns data like so: render :text => @item.to_json(:only => [...], :methods => [:foo]) This means, that I have to have foo defined in my Item model as well: class Item def foo "hello #{name}" end end It'd be nice if I could have a DRY method that could be shared in both my views and my models. Usage might look like this: Helper def say_hello(s) "hello #{s}" end User.rb model def foo say_hello(name) end Item.rb model def foo say_hello(label) end View <div class="data"><%= item.foo %></div> Controller def observe @items = item.find(...) render :text => @items.to_json(:only=>[...], :methods=>[:foo]) end IF I'M DUMB, please let me know. I don't know the best way to handle this, but I don't want to completely go against best-practices here. If you can think of a better way, I'm eager to learn!

• Reading Data from DDFS ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded

  I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble.   hi, i have a website where i provicde a link. On clicking the link a controller action method is called to generate a zip file after creation of zip file is done, i show the link to download the zip file by replacing the link to create a zip with the link to download the zip. the problem is that after zip file creation is over and link is shown, when user clicks on the link to download the zip file, they are sent to login. After providing correct credentials in the login page they are prompted to download the zip file. they sould not be sent to the login page. In the action to generate zip file i haven't abondoned the session or haven't not done anything that abondons the session. the user should not be sen't to login page after successful creation of zip file user should be able to download the file without login. i search internet on this problem, but i did not find any solution. In one of the blog written by hanselman i found this statement that creates the problem with the session: Is some other thing like an Ajax call or IE's Content Advisor simultaneously hitting the default page or login page and causing a race condition that calls Session.Abandon? (It's happened before!) so i thought there might be some problem with ajax call that causes the session to expire, but i don't know what is happening? any help please thanks

  I'm trying to come closer to a solution for the problem of my previous question. The scheme I would like to try is following: User requests an action from RoR controller. Action makes some database queries, makes some calculations, sets some session variable(s) and returns some RJS code as the response. This code could either update a progress bar and make another ajax request. display the final result (e.g. a chart grahic) if all the processing is finished The browser evaluates the javascript representation of the RJS. It may make another (recursive? Is recursion allowed at all?) request, or just display the result for the user. So, my question this time is: how can I embed a XMLHttpRequest call into rjs code properly? Some things I'd like to know are: Should I create a new thread to avoid stack overflow. What rails helpers (if any) should I use? Have anybody ever done something similar before on Rails or with other frameworks? Is my idea sane?

• Is this a tableView issue or a CoreData Issue

  I have a CoreData-driven navigation app and I'm trying to figure out why It's crashing. I've got a hierarchy which is 3 view Controllers deep, all related by coredata relatioships, like this. TableViewA =relationship= TableViewB =relationship= TableViewC I'm honestly a novice at core data and I think my problem lies in the fetched results controller. I have one in TableViewA and another in TableViewB, and no matter how deep I go, the console always cites TableViewB's fetched results controller methods after a crash. Is this the problem? What's happening specifically is if I launch my app and drill down into the hierarchy of one record, let's call it Record1, I can delete sub records to my hearts content. Gone! no problem! But the second I go back to TableViewA and drill down into a different record, let's call that one Record2, and try to delete it's subrecords my app crashes, with the console citing this code from TableViewB as the problem. - (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { // The fetch controller is about to start sending change notifications, so prepare the table view for updates. [self.tableView beginUpdates]; } When I go into the debugger, the specific method it always has a problem with is: if (![x.managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Unresolved error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); abort(); } Just a confirmation of my idiocy with CoreData is all I'm looking for I think. Oh and how many ManagedObjectContexts should I have in an app of this type. I've been told I should have separate ones for adding content, which then should re-integrate into the main one. • Wanted: How to reliably, consistently select an MKMapView annotation

  After calling MKMapView's setCenterCoordinate:animated: method (without animation), I'd like to call selectAnnotation:animated: (with animation) so that the annotation pops out from the newly-centered pushpin. For now, I simply watch for mapViewDidFinishLoadingMap: and then select the annotation. However, this is problematic. For instance, this method isn't called when there's no need to load additional map data. In those cases, my annotation isn't selected. :( Very well. I could call this immediately after setting the center coordinate instead. Ahh, but in that case it's possible that there is map data to load (but it hasn't finished loading yet). I'd risk calling it too soon, with the animation becoming spotty at best. Thus, if I understand correctly, it's not a matter of knowing if my coordinate is visible, since it's possible to stray almost a screenful of distance and have to load new map data. Rather, it's a matter of knowing if new map data needs to be loaded, and then acting accordingly. Any ideas on how to accomplish this, or how to otherwise (reliably) select an annotation after re-centering the map view on the coordinate where that annotation lives? Clues appreciated - thanks!

I have two .xib files that I want to use, myViewController.xib and myViewControllerLandscape.xib. myViewController.xib exists in project/Resources and myViewControllerLandscape.xib exists in the root project directory. What I want to do is use a separate NIB (myViewControllerLandscape.xib) for my rotations. I try detecting rotation in viewDidLoad like this: if((self.interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) || (self.interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight)) { NSLog(@"Landscape detected!"); [self initWithNibName:@"myViewControllerLandscape" bundle:nil]; } But I can see in gdb that this isn't executed when the app is started with the device in landscape. The NSLog message doesn't fire. Why is this? What have I done wrong? Also, if I explicitly put the initWithNibName function call in the viewDidLoad method, that nib is not loaded, and it continues with the myViewController.xib file. What's wrong with my call? Should I specify a bundle? Thanks!

• Silently catch windows error popups when calling System.load() in java

  I have a Java Swing application, which needs to load some native libraries in windows. The problem is that the client could have different versions of those libraries. In one recent version, either the names changed or the order on which the libraries must be loaded changed. To keep up, we iterated over all possible library names but some fail to load (due to it's nonexistence or because another must be loaded previously). This idea works on older Windows but on latter ones it shows a error popup. I saw on question 4058303 (Silently catch windows error popups when calling LoadLibrary) that I need to call SetErrorMode but I am not sure how to call SetErrorMode from jna. I tried to follow the idea from question 11038595 but I am not sure how to proceed. public interface CKernel32 extends Kernel32 { CKernel32 INSTANCE = (CKernel32) Native.loadLibrary("kernel32", CKernel32.class); // TODO: HELP: HOW define the SetErrorMode function } How do I define (from the SetErrorMode documentation): UINT WINAPI SetErrorMode( _In_ UINT uMode ); in the line marked as TODO: HELP:?
