  • Javascript string to Date conversion - simple?

    Hi all, Yesterday I managed to solve this, then lost a day's work due to the death of a HD. Now I cannot remember what I did to fix it, but I know it can be done. Input: string date in the format 'm/d/yy', eg '12/25/10', or '4/1/10' (1st April) Output - Date object I'm working with date.js and date.format.js so have Date.fromString() and Date.format() avaiable. But trying multiple combinations is not giving me what I need. IF the date were 'mm/dd/yy' then it's simple. But I'm using jquery.datepicker.js which outputs in 'm/d/yy' and I don't want to change this much I know this conversion can be done. After a 22 hour day... I need help. Thanks. Mark...

  • Why in landscape orientation in simulator all the subviews appear out of order?

    I was doing a sample app in ipad. I added about 4 to 5 imageviews to the left side of the view vertically. This view will appear when we select the corresponding entry in the splitviewcontroller. In ipad simulator too, all the images were loading and all are working fine in portrait orientation. But when I rotate the simulator to landscape orientation, these imageviews doesnt appear where i placed them. Some of them overlapping each other, some have half of their part in the navigation bar and all. Has gone completely out of order. I am confused why is all this happening. Can anyone help me solve this issue?

  • jQuery Date Picker where text input is read only

    Hi all, I want to use the Jquery datepicker. I've got it setup using an the alt field option. I'm displaying Y-M-D in the text field, but submitting Y-M-D. Everything works fine so far, sending the correct data, etc. However I want to stop the user from being able to manually type a date. I add originally set the INPUT field to disabled, which worked in every browser except IE. In IE it would popup the date picker but then not close after clicking a date. Does anyone know the best way to do this?

    I have created an additional iPad target for what was originally an iphone app. From the Apple docs: "In nearly all cases, you will want to define a new view controller class to manage the iPad version of your application interface, especially if that interface is at all different from your iPhone interface. You can use conditional compilation to coordinate the creation of the different view controllers." But they don't give any example or detail on what conditional compilation is. Can anyone give an example? And where would I do this?

  • Html5 - Callback when media is ready on iPad wont work

    I'm trying to add a callback to a HTML5 audio element on an iPad. I added an eventlistener to the element, the myOtherThing() starts but there is no sound. If I pause and the play the sound again the audio starts. This works in chrome. Does anyone have an idea how I can do this? myAudioElement.src = "path_to_file"; addEventListener("canplay", function(){ myAudioElement.play(); myOtherThing.start(); }); SOLVED Just wanted to share my solution here, just in case someone else needs it. As far as I understand the iPad does not trigger any events without user interactions. So to be able to use "canply", "playing" and all the other events you need to use the built in media controller. Once you press play in that controller, the events gets triggered. After that you can use your custom interface.

    Hello, I really would like to write an app or apps for iPhone / iPad. I've never done this so far because most of my work has been in windows environment. I recently got an i7 with windows 7 and love it, and this is what I am using to do development on currently. I would love to try out writing a simple App on a mac for either an iPhone or iPad. The question I had was are there any developers using a macbook to do windows based programming as well as writing apps? And what is their setups like? (example: using bootcamp) Most importantly, is it recommended based on the experience they had doing so? any problems / performance issue?   • UIView added with incorrect orientation

    So I have been working on a problem with UIView on the iPad. Essentially I have a splitview as the root view and I want to overlay my custom image view over top of the splitview (This is because the splitview must be the root view). The problem that I have, is when I call addSubview on my splitview the subview gets displayed in its default orientation, with no regard to the iPad's current orientation. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong or flag I am not setting? Thanks!   • Different icons and title for same iPad application

    I'm developing an iPad application that will be distributed "in-house" ie only inside enterprise. They asked me if i can produce 2 different releases of the same application to be installed on the same iPad. The first one will communicate with a production server while the second will use a sandbox server and will be used by user to learn the system. Server url will be changed in app settings. They told me to differentiate these releases by icon and title (and also, of course, by title in navigation bar). What's the best way to get this goal avoiding duplication of the project?

  • Mobile Safari text selection after input field focus

    I have some legacy html that needs to work on old and new browsers (down to IE7) as well as the iPad. The iPad is the biggest issues because of how text selection is handled. On a page there is a textarea as well as some text instructions. The instructions are in a <div> and the user needs to be able to select the instructions. The problem is that once focus is placed in the textarea, the user cannot subsequently select the text instructions in the <div>. This is because the text cannot receive focus. According to the Safari Web Content Guide: Handling Events (especially, "Making Elements Clickable"), you can add a onclick event handler to the div you want to receive focus. This solution works (although it is not ideal) in iOS 6x but it does not work in iOS 5x. Does anyone have a suggestion that minimizes changes to our existing code and produces consistant user interaction.     I have a very simple page that's usings jquery's datepicker. I have: <input id=datepicker type=image src='cal.png'> When I click on the image in FF/IE, it works as expected, but does not work in Chrome (ver. 4.1.249.1064). However if I simply change to "type=text", it works within Chrome. So my question is this: am I allowed to use Datepicker with "type=image"?

  • Why Is Bottom Half of Custom UIActionSheet with UIDatePicker Disabled?

    Everything seems to be working great with my UIActionSheet that contains a UIDatePicker except that the bottom half of the DatePicker is disabled. Visually there is a shadow that makes the bottom half of the picker darker than the top half. Everything in the bottom half is disabled and I can't for the life of me figure out how to enable it. I also noticed in my other "normal" UIActionSheets that just contain buttons, the bottom half of the cancel buttons are disabled.   • sfJQueryUIPlugin: No Picker for new records

    Everyday is a new day with Symfony, but I'm loving it! This morning I installed the sfJQueryUIPlugin. It has very little dependencies & accepts themeRoller styles. However, it has 2 issues: [Feature_Request] There is no way to specify the year range. By default, it shows a 20 year range around the year in the field value. eg. if field value is 1993-01-20, the range will be 1983 to 2003. ??? Has anyone found a way out??? The DatePicker does not appear when the field is empty, Thus it does not show up during new record creation. To solve this, I tried setting up the default value in the date input field (which now appears as a text input) using $this->setDefault('date_of_birth',date('Y-m-d')); ??? Is anybody facing this problem of picker now available during new record creation ??? ??? Also is it the right way to set default value ??? Thanks in advance.

  • jQuery date picker not persistant after AJAX

    So I'm using the jQuery date picker, and it works well. I am using AJAX to go and get some content, obviously when this new content is applied the bind is lost, I learnt about this last week and discovered about the .live() method. But how do I apply that to my date picker? Because this isn't an event therefore .live() won't be able to help... right? This is the code I'm using to bind the date picker to my input: $(".datefield").datepicker({showAnim:'fadeIn',dateFormat:'dd/mm/yy',changeMonth:true,changeYear:true}); I do not want to call this metho everytime my AJAX fires, as I want to keep that as generic as possible.     Most date pickers allow you to pick the date from a tine calendar or enter the date by hand. For example http://jqueryui.com/demos/datepicker/ This requires - two clicks (one to display the calendar and one to select the correct date) - good eyesight (usually the pop-up calendar is very small) - and good hand-eye coordination to pick the correct date in the tiny calendar with your mouse. That's no problem for power users, but a hassle for older people and computer beginners. I found a website with a different approach. It seems like their users mostly select dates of the current week. So they listed all the days of the week in a bar together with the weekday. The current day is marked in another color. There is a tiny calender icon on the right hand that opens up a regular date picker. That gives you access to all regular date picker functionality.
