  • Get Imagesize in jQuery

    - by Jean
    Hello, I want to get the imagesize in jquery, I have this code. It works to the point of alert (v); I wonder what is wrong with the rest when v actually contains a value. var v = $('#xxx input').val(); alert (v); var newImg = new Image(); newImg.src = v; var height = newImg.height; var width = newImg.width; alert ('The image size is '+width+'*'+height); Thanks Jean

  • using the data-custom="" to bind to events

    - by Dean Peterson
    I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get slammed on this. I love using the data-whatever attribute to bind events to. It feels very clean to me and helps reserve my class attribute for just styling. I know this selector is among the slowest, so I don't use it when there are a lot of elements. Would love to hear compelling arguments against this. $("body").delegate("[data-action]", "click", function(){ var action = $(this).attr("data-action"); //route action to appropriate function });

  • How can I work around SQL Server - Inline Table Value Function execution plan variation based on par

    - by Ovidiu Pacurar
    Here is the situation: I have a table value function with a datetime parameter ,lest's say tdf(p_date) , that filters about two million rows selecting those with column date smaller than p_date and computes some aggregate values on other columns. It works great but if p_date is a custom scalar value function (returning the end of day in my case) the execution plan is altered an the query goes from 1 sec to 1 minute execution time. A proof of concept table - 1K products, 2M rows: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[POC]( [Date] [datetime] NOT NULL, [idProduct] [int] NOT NULL, [Quantity] [int] NOT NULL ) ON [PRIMARY] The inline table value function: CREATE FUNCTION tdf (@p_date datetime) RETURNS TABLE AS RETURN ( SELECT idProduct, SUM(Quantity) AS TotalQuantity, max(Date) as LastDate FROM POC WHERE (Date < @p_date) GROUP BY idProduct ) The scalar value function: CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[EndOfDay] (@date datetime) RETURNS datetime AS BEGIN DECLARE @res datetime SET @res=dateadd(second, -1, dateadd(day, 1, dateadd(ms, -datepart(ms, @date), dateadd(ss, -datepart(ss, @date), dateadd(mi,- datepart(mi,@date), dateadd(hh, -datepart(hh, @date), @date)))))) RETURN @res END Query 1 - Working great SELECT * FROM [dbo].[tdf] (getdate()) The end of execution plan: Stream Aggregate Cost 13% <--- Clustered Index Scan Cost 86% Query 2 - Not so great SELECT * FROM [dbo].[tdf] (dbo.EndOfDay(getdate())) The end of execution plan: Stream Aggregate Cost 4% <--- Filter Cost 12% <--- Clustered Index Scan Cost 86%

  • Calculating usage of localStorage space

    - by WmasterJ
    I am creating an app using the Bespin editor and HTML5's localStorage. It stores all files locally and helps with grammar, uses JSLint and some other parsers for CSS and HTML to aid the user. I want to calculate how much of the localStorage limit has been used and how much there actually is. Is this possible today? I was thinking for not to simply calculate the bits that are stored. But then again I'm not sure what more is there that I can't measure myself.

If send marker8.getPosition() for example it works. May I know the reason ? content: '<div id="info_content">Matab Info</div> <button onclick="handleButtonApprove(' + num.toString() + ')">Verify</button> </br> <button onclick="handleButtonReject()">Remove</button>' }); google.maps.event.addListener(marker8, 'click', function () { infowindow.open(marker8.get('map'), marker8); }); }

  • Python nested function scopes

    - by Thomas O
    I have code like this: def write_postcodes(self): """Write postcodes database. Write data to file pointer. Data is ordered. Initially index pages are written, grouping postcodes by the first three characters, allowing for faster searching.""" status("POSTCODE", "Preparing to sort...", 0, 1) # This function returns the key of x whilst updating the displayed # status of the sort. ctr = 0 def keyfunc(x): ctr += 1 status("POSTCODE", "Sorting postcodes", ctr, len(self.postcodes)) return x sort_res = self.postcodes[:] sort_res.sort(key=keyfunc) But ctr responds with a NameError: Traceback (most recent call last): File "PostcodeWriter.py", line 53, in <module> w.write_postcodes() File "PostcodeWriter.py", line 47, in write_postcodes sort_res.sort(key=keyfunc) File "PostcodeWriter.py", line 43, in keyfunc ctr += 1 UnboundLocalError: local variable 'ctr' referenced before assignment How can I fix this? I thought nester scopes would have allowed me to do this. I've tried with 'global', but it still doesn't work.

  • replacing div content with a click using jquery

    - by Joel
    I see this question asked a lot in the related questions, but my need seems very simple compared to those examples, and sadly I'm just still too new at js to know what to remove...so at the risk of being THAT GUY, I'm going to ask my question... I'm trying to switch out the div contents in a box depending on the button pushed. Right now I have it working using the animatedcollapse.toggle function, but it doesn't look very good. I want to replace it with a basic fade in on click and fade in new content on next button. Basic idea: <div> <ul> <li><a href="this will fade in the first_div"></li> <li><a href="this will fade in the second_div"></li> <li><a href="this will fade in the third_div"></li> </ul> <div class="first_container"> <ul> <li>stuff</li> <li>stuff</li> <li>stuff</li> </ul> </div> <div class="second_container"> <ul> <li>stuff</li> <li>stuff</li> <li>stuff</li> </ul> </div> <div class="third_container"> <ul> <li>stuff</li> <li>stuff</li> <li>stuff</li> </ul> </div> </div> I've got everything working with the animated collapse, but it's just an ugly effect for this situation, so I want to change it out. Thanks! Joel

  • jQuery - ASPX Security libraries

    - by Jean Paul
    Hello. I would like to know if there's a combo like jCryption ([jCryption]) - PHP but for jQuery - ASPX. I mean, I have been searching for a combo to send data both ways (Client-server, server-client) with jQuery to ASPX. The best I found was jCryption that sends data from JavaScrpit to PHP. I need a combo to send data from JavaScrpit to ASPX. Any ideas?? PD: Please don't tell me to use HTTPS, it's not enough to ensure the data communication on a client - server application.

  • Making a non-trivial Image and Video Gallery with a really nice interface

    - by Cawas
    Short part: I'm starting to build an Image and Video Gallery for our intranet. It's pretty much like an image gallery with video thumbnails that play on click. It's just good to keep that in mind because caching and streaming happen in very different ways there. It will serve to browse our reference database, which will also contain searching, tagging and voting. There are 3 features that I need to begin with: Quick preview of thumbnails from each Gallery Fast zoom in / out Animated scrolling Now to the long part, since I can't seem to reduce this: I hope this question belongs here. Maybe people can read this through and identify with it, specially since I expect answers to be pretty specific. The first plan was getting Apple's mobile me gallery as base, because it just so happens to have all those 3 features. If you've never seem it, you should check it out. Move the mouse over each collection and you'll get a nice preview "per pixel". Carousel got a really good scrolling, not just because of the pretty effect. I like it much more than cooliris, but it would be nice to have it in several rows, maybe without the magnifying effect... Then it could be all in the same place with the zoom. The more the features blend-in together, the better. Zooming out with the mouse, scrolling by dragging, once the zoom is really out it becomes a browsing through galleries, with the quick-show preview of each, all properly cached and fast. That'd be perfect. A very compelling interface will be important in this project. Well, my point here is just describing what I need and hope to hear from people with more experience in all that stuff of what's already done and what I'd have to do myself. And how (i.e. which framework to use) to do it. To begin with, I've found a gallery demo and its source code (I think it was from here, but the link seems broken now). I guess it was made in SproutCore, which is what mobileme was based upon. Definitely with JQuery (which already seems a little slow). But I'm still missing two features there: the carousel and the fast zoom (it's just not as slow as the zoom in this demo with cappuccino). Then I've found a supposedly better one with a pretty good and similar zoom, that I'm not sure if it's using any framework and is already in php. Right now it'd be better having just the HTML, no server-side, since I'm building interface first. So, can anyone point directions? There are way too many options! Should I look for another solution closer to what I need, or try and tweak this one? I'm not familiar with any framework at all. Sorry for bringing this question that I will have to answer myself anyway sooner or later and sorry that I couldn't make this smaller. Thanks.

  • Correct usage of addEventListener() /attachEvent()?

    - by ginny
    Hi guys! I'm wondering how to use "addEventListener" resp. "attachEvent" correctly!? window.onload=function(myFunc1){ // do something } function myFunc2(){ // do something } if (window.addEventListener){ window.addEventListener('load', myFunc2, false); } else if (window.attachEvent){ window.attachEvent('onload', myFunc2); } ... or function myFunc1(){ // do something } if (window.addEventListener){ window.addEventListener('load', myFunc1, false); } else if (window.attachEvent){ window.attachEvent('onload', myFunc1); } function myFunc2(){ // do something } if (window.addEventListener){ window.addEventListener('load', myFunc2, false); } else if (window.attachEvent){ window.attachEvent('onload', myFunc2); } ... ? Is this cross-browser secure or should I better go with sth. like this: function myFunc1(){ // do something } function myFunc2(){ // do something } ... function addOnloadEvent(fnc){ if ( typeof window.addEventListener != "undefined" ) window.addEventListener( "load", fnc, false ); else if ( typeof window.attachEvent != "undefined" ) { window.attachEvent( "onload", fnc ); } else { if ( window.onload != null ) { var oldOnload = window.onload; window.onload = function ( e ) { oldOnload( e ); window[fnc](); }; } else window.onload = fnc; } } addOnloadEvent(myFunc1); addOnloadEvent(myFunc2); ... AND: Say "myfunc2" is for IE 7 only. How to modify the correct/preferred method accordingly? Thank you so much!

  • GET Trello JSON to put in a string var

    - by Verber
    I'm trying to get the JSON that a TRELLO API Url returns and put it into a string. On my own private board I am getting "401 Unauthorized". But the Trello Api doesn't seem to give any way to authorize a user through the URL. If I try a public board I get "XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://api.trello.com/1/board/4d5ea62fd76aa1136000000c?key=68d02bf40d2ad57dd9eb418eb15f9564. • Load external pages using jquery

    - by user1688011
    I'm trying to use jquery to load external pages into the current without reloading. Apparently everything works fine except of one little issue, I hope I'll be clear as much as possible. When I call the page 'info.php' it is loaded into the #content div. That's what the script supposed to do, the problem is that in the main page, which contains the script and the #content div, I already have some code that I want it to be executed when someone visit the page and not to be called from external page. That is actually the case but when I click on one of the links in the menu, I can't go back to the initial content.. <script> $(function() { $('#nav a').click(function() { var page = $(this).attr('href'); $('#content').load(page + '.php'); return false; }); }); </script> <ul id="nav"> <li><a href="#">Page1</a></li> <li><a href="about">About</a></li> <li><a href="contact">Contact</a></li> <li><a href="info">Info</a></li> </ul> <div id="content"> Here I have some code that I wanted to be attributed to the "Page1" </div> Do you have any suggestions how to fix this issue? Thanks

  • Why does the jQuery on this page work for Internet Explorer 8, but nothing else?

    - by Ben McCormack
    I made a web page that uses jQuery: http://benmccormack.com/demo/MichaelMassPsalm/Psalm16Mode5.html When you change the selection in the combo box from Higher Key to Lower Key, all of the music images are supposed to change their source to be images that represent the lower key signature. This works great in IE8, but it won't work in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. Why not? Here's the jQuery code that I'm using: $(document).ready(function () { $("#musicKey").change(function (event) { if ($("#musicKey").val() * 1) { $("img[src*='Low'").each(function (index) { $(this).attr("src", $(this).attr("src").replace("Low", "High")); }); } else { $("img[src*='High'").each(function (index) { $(this).attr("src", $(this).attr("src").replace("High", "Low")); }); } }); });

  • jQuery ready function

    - by Darren Tarrant
    Can anyone tell me why the document ready function needs a call to function first please? I've been told that the setTimeout in the first below example (which does not work) would be evaluated and passed to ready, but I don't see what the difference would be for the function call in the second example (which works)? $(document).ready( setTimeout( function(){ $('#set_3').innerfade({ animationtype: 'fade', speed: 'slow', timeout: 3000, type: 'sequence', containerheight: '180' }); }, 2000); ); $(document).ready( function(){ setTimeout( function(){ $('#set_3').innerfade({ animationtype: 'fade', speed: 'slow', timeout: 3000, type: 'sequence', containerheight: '180' }); }, 2000); } );

  • Are there any pitfalls to var something = something || {}

    - by puk
    I came across this answer where the poster suggested that the shorthand for if(typeof MyNamespace === 'undefined'){ var MyNamespace = {}; } is var MyNamespace = MyNamespace || {}; Would veteran programmers recommend the latter to simplify the code, or does it overly complicate things, like abusing ++ or -- in complex compound statements? EDIT The reason I asked is b/c a while back someone inspired me by pointing out that a lot of the people who think they are expert programmers make a lot of beginners mistakes. The case at the time was if (isReady){ //Do Something } And what he was saying is that a condition should mean something, isReady doesn't 'mean' anything, instead, we should use if (isReady === true){ //Do Something }

  • Checking data of all same class elements

    - by Tiffani
    I need the code to check the data-name value of all instances of .account-select. Right now it just checks the first .account-select element and not any subsequent ones. The function right now is on click of an element such as John Smith, it checks the data-name of the .account-select lis. If the data-names are the same, it does not create a new li with the John Smith data. If no data-names are equal to John Smith, then it adds an li with John Smith. This is the JS-Fiddle I made for it so you can see what I am referring to: http://jsfiddle.net/rsxavior/vDCNy/22/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the Jquery Code I am using right now. $('.account').click(function () { var acc = $(this).data("name"); var sel = $('.account-select').data("name"); if (acc === sel) { } else { $('.account-hidden-li').append('<li class="account-select" data-name="'+ $(this).data("name") +'">' + $(this).data("name") + '<a class="close bcn-close" data-dismiss="alert" href="#">&times;</a></li>'); } }); And the HTML: <ul> <li><a class="account" data-name="All" href="#">All</a></li> <li><a class="account" data-name="John Smith" href="#">John Smith</a></li> </ul> <ul class="account-hidden-li"> <ul>

And, btw, does it require multi threading? And also, major part of my doubt is to make a disc being clickable and being able to drag and drop the disc on a tower. detect a tower (if a disc is being dragged using mouse)

  • Changing the color of dot depending from value on Morris js graph

    - by Michal Lipa
    Im rendering graph by morris js. Im using data from mysql database by JSON. Everything works fine, but I would like to add one more feature to the graph. (change dot color if there is something in buy action). My JSON: [{"longdate":"2014-08-20 18:20:01","price":"1620","action":"buy"},{"longdate":"2014-08-20 18:40:01","price":"1640","action":""},{"longdate":"2014-08-20 19:00:01","price":"1620","action":""}] So I would like to change dot color for values with buy action. My code for graph: $.getJSON('results.json', function(day_data) { Morris.Line({ element: 'graph', data: day_data, xkey: 'longdate', ykeys: ['price'], labels: ['Cena'], lineColors: lineColor, pointSize: 0, hoverCallback: function(index, options, content) { var date = "<b><font color='black'>Data: "+day_data[index]['longdate']+"</font></b><br>"; var param1 = "<font color='"+lineColor[0]+"'>Cena - "+day_data[index]['price']+"</font><br>"; return date+param1; }, xLabelFormat : function (x) { return changeDateFormat(x); } /*My TRIAL if(action == 'buy'){ pointSize: 4, lineColors: green, } */ }); }); So my code doesnt work, how can I make this working?
