  On Windows I use the PSPad editor which has a nice ALT-D timestamp which you can edit the format of, e.g. yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss. When working outside an editor, e.g. Google Docs, I have Autohotkey which I have programmed CTRL-D to insert a yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss timestamp. I am now working on a Mac mostly using TextWrangler as my editor but I can't find a timestamp hotkey in its features. What is the easiest way to get a yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss hotkey on Mac, either in a (free) text editor or a (free) autohotkey equivalent?

• Shoutcast admin panel not showing most of information

  I recently start audio streaming broadcast through third party - they provide server to broadcast audio. But when I accessed Shoutcast admin panel on the server, there's not much information I can use, for example, what if I want to ban a particular ip address. Here's screen shot- And none of options did work (listeners, tail logfile, view logfile, reverse ip list.. ) does it mean that provider blocks all features on shoutcast admin panel by default? or something else.. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks

• Mac OSX server command equivalent for dhclient?

  Is there an MacOS command that makes a dhcp request, and renews the old lease, drops it for a new one, or usefully reports errors or lack of response from a dhcp server? This would both help fix networking on the machine after problems on the network without rebooting and would also be useful to diagnose wider networking problems from a mac. I can not find any command equivalent of dhclient though obviously some component must be serving this purpose. The question is, is that component exposed to a command line interface? I am biased to the command line for these features and may have overlooked settings panels or tools that might solve it using a gui interface. I believe this question is at the heart of this other question: Is there an equivalent command for 'init.d/networking restart' in OS X

I'm looking for a complete solution, specially built kernel, kernel bypass features, essentially all the goodies rolled up into one package - does such a thing even exist? I ask as a lot of this stuff seems to be a black art, people keep secret what they know works etc.

• Manual Duplex for Mac (and/or Linux)

  Hi, my printers don't support automatic duplex printing. I'm looking for a solution for my Mac (BTW, also for Linux) that I've seen with most Windows printer drivers: Check "Manual duplex" in the printer screen Printer starts printing one side A dialog appears, asking me to flip the pages Printer prints the other side. One thing I can do, is "print odd pages", then reopen the dialog and "print even pages", but this is very inconvenient, especially when I only want to print a certain page range of the document (the Mac dialog forgets my previous page range every time). It gets even more inconvenient, when printing 2-up double sided, or when changing additional settings for this one printout. So is there maybe some tool, that can do this? Or maybe a "virtual printer driver" that can sit somewhere between the dialog and the actual printer driver, which manages these steps? (The Windows tool http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FinePrint can do something like that, but I don't need all of its features - and I need it on Mac/Linux) Thanks, Chris

• unable to install new versions of linux on my PC

  I have an MSI-RC410 motherboard with onboard ATI Radeon XPress 200 series Graphics card. I have used OpenSuse-11.0 on my PC for over an year. but when I tried to upgrade to OpenSuse-11.1, I managed to install it only to find that several features were missing. for example /dev/cdrom was missing. Also install DVD of Fedora 11 did not work. I have also tried Ubuntu-9.10 live cd. When I boot from the CD i get the initramfs command prompt. Still able to install old versions of these OSs. What is the reason for this behavior? Does it have to do anything with the new version of the linux kernel not being compatible with my hardware? What should i do to install new versions of Linux?

• Windows shared printers: Process job on server machine, not the client

  Hi. While working with Linux clients to Windows SMB/CIFS filesharing servers, from time to time I find myself having to print to a printer with no drivers available under Linux. For some reason, the Windows computer expects the job to be sent in an already processed format, so it can be fed directly to the printer in its own, weird language. It would be great if I could send the print job in Postscript or other standard format to the Windows computer sharing this printer, and then this PS could be processed under Windows. Is there a way to accomplish this? Because I don't seem to find the option. Thanks a lot.

• Connectiong adsl router/modem and router with bridgemode

  I have one adsl modem/router which is not "top" of the line and it lack allot of options which I need. I was able to acquire one Cisco router recently which has all options that I need ( like DMZ, VPN, port forwarding, etc). I'm interested, if I connect the old modem/router to new Cisco router using bridge mode, will I be able to use all the features on the Cisco? For instance, the old router is lacking of port forward options. Does this mean that I will not be able to use port forwarding on Cisco router either or, since I will be using bridge mode, this will not affect Cisco router and it will work as the modem is in him? thank you

• Can't set up IIS Web Server on Server 2008 x64 correctly

  Using a VM I installed Windows 2008 Server x64 and as the image below shows, added the IIS Role full image and assigned all role features of IIS full image But if I have an ASP.NET (aspx) page that does (C#) Session["test-session"] = "A"; and read in other page I always get nothing! NOTE: I do have an entire ASP.NET web application, the example above is to be succinct and explicit on what is the problem I'm facing.   i am thinking to create a To Do list sort of thing for my Project work. it's sort of a To do list type thing, meant for Multiple Users. i mean each user will have his Login and Password , to access into his account or profile and from there he/she can Manage his own To-Do list. it's has to be Kind of like Remember the Milk sort of. • Which hosting will let me execute my own EXE with PHP?

  I have a task that PHP (or any server-side scripting language) isn't practical for. It involves a lot of file I/O, processing, etc. and it will execute a lot faster using the program I made in C instead of PHP. Do any hosts allow you to upload your own EXE files and run them on the server using PHP's exec, shell_exec, etc. functions? Do you need a dedicated server to do this? Also, I don't know if Facebook's PHP HipHop is out yet, but I really don't want to use that.

• Inverted question mark only on Microsoft Office applications

  My dad has a notebook and the key which has the "/?°" symbols acts like ctrl. Known factory problem. Anyway, his keyboard also has a "?" marked under the "w" key. Pressing "ctrl + alt + w" will display the "?" character (question, interrogation mark). Except on Office applications, like Word and Outlook, which will output "¿". I've searched Word and Outlook menus looking for a parameter that could be, somehow, remapping the notebooks keyboards, applying different regional configurations, language, or encodings. Since it only happens on Office apps, I believe the solution is within its options, but I was unable to find it where. Pressing "ctrl + alt gr + w" will display ? correctly, but I am stumped by this problem. I could remap the keys and make "/?° behave correctly, but my curiosity now is eating me alive. The application is more like a Saas e-commerce where SSL and data separation are required features. Now we want that every Tenant can have his separate top level domain names instead of the second level domains like 37Signals. So all the domains abc.com and xyz.com are using the same single app. What i need to know is how to implement and deploy the https in the application so that everything works out fine, also how should we configure the NameServer and web application on IIS so that all the domains are pointing to the one application.

• How can I recreate root dnsNode objects and their RootDNSServers folder in AD after they are deleted?

  A few days ago I was trying to permanently remove root hints from my DNS server. After much ado, I decided to go a different route and am now trying to put everything back as it was. During the original process, I opened ADUC, clicked ViewAdvanced Features, and then browsed to System MicrosoftDNS and deleted the folder RootDNSServers. Now in ADUC, I cannot create a folder here to replace the one I deleted. I can run adsiedit and load DomainDNSZones for my domain. Under there, I see MicrosoftDNS, RootDNSServers, with all of the objects still inside of it. Is there a way for me to undo what I did? Can I recreate these objects in ADUC? Can I do something else to cause them to show back up there? Thanks!

  Hi All, I have just purchased windows 7 64bit. I entered the disk in the drive and it told me I couldn't upgrade as I am using XP so I have tried to boot from CD instead but it doesn't work. It seems to look at the disk for a few seconds and then ends up at a screen saying windows failed to start and then I hit enter and it loads windows XP again. Does anyone know what could cause this? • Recover from a corrupted couchbase install

  We have a couchbase installation on a Windows 2008 R2 server that got corrupted (this was from before my tenure, now I want to clean it up). There is no add-remove entry in the Programs and Features list. There is no active service in services.msc. However, something still thinks Couchbase is installed. Shy of wiping the box (we aren't quite to "redeploy test environment servers at the push of a button" altho I'm working on it), how can I ensure that all remnants of couchbase installs prior are now gone? I believe the previous install was in the Couchbase 2.x range, but it may have been 1.7+ Running the installer again gives "Installer needs to update registry value in order to upgrade from the previous version. Please run installer again to continue."

I anticipate (or hope for at least) a significant amount of traffic/bandwidth in the not-too-distant future. If I open a reseller, will I receive the same amount of server lag during busy hours that I do with a shared account? How significant is the profit margin with the reseller option? • ssh agent forwarding with many identities

  I have setup ssh agent forwarding, and I know it works. I also have many keys setup in the agent. The problem is there are so many keys that I get: Received disconnect from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX: 2: Too many authentication failures for bob The way around this is to use IdentitiesOnly=yes so that ssh will only send the identity you want it to for the specified host. I've also gotten this implemented and I know it works, without agent forwarding. Now, I'm trying to combine the two features. That is, I want to use agent forwarding, but also be able to specify which identity to use when connecting. Problem is, I can't figure out how to do this. So, I want to connect from box A through box B to box C. Box A has all of the identity files and the ssh agent running. I want to edit box A or B's ssh config file(s) to use a specific identity that exists in box A's agent (which is being forwarded).
