  In JavaScript, there is no such thing as a "private" variable. In order to achieve encapsulation and information hiding in JavaScript, I can wrap a variable inside a function closure, like so: var counter = (function() { var i = 0; var fn = {}; fn.increment = function() { i++; }; fn.get = function() { return i; }; return fn; {)(); counter.increment(); counter.increment(); alert(counter.get()); // alerts '2' Since I don't call i a private variable in JavaScript, what do I call it?

• Can I import an existing member data used in old ASP to a new ASP.NET membership database? [closed]

  I have an old website that I designed and still maintain using old ASP that has a membership database (MS-SQL) that I built from scratch. It is a very simple database that has all the user information in one table (including login info and personal info) and then details and other odds and ends in other tables. It is WAY past time to upgrade this to .NET, especially since I need to add a Paypal payment system into it as soon as I can. I've designed several other sites with membership in .NET, but they have all been from scratch. Is there an easy way to transition from the old ASP site to a new .NET membership database without losing the data? There are hundreds of users with thousands of records relating to those users that I'd rather not lose, if possible. Any ideas on a relatively painless way to do this?

• Skeletal Animation - Automatically apply skeleton to model

  Looking at websites such as mixamo.com or some game's development systems such as the animation editor for Overgrowth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RpqbC5-Z0E), i see that the skeleton in these situations is automatically being applied to the models. I really don't expect (though wouldn't mind) code that does this, but i really am looking for some sort of pointer in the direction, or how they go about this. If any of you have done this, or know how to, please do reply, i don't want to spend the next week trying to crack it, then another to actually code it :P Thanks all :) Just for a bit more information, i am in C# working with OpenTK with my own custom model loader, etc. but i can easily adjust any given code / concept to fit with mine :)

  This question is similar to this one: What unique enhancements and features has Ubuntu brought to the Linux Community but in this case it is directed towards what has Ubuntu contributed to the official Linux Kernel. For example, many times I hear about Intel contributing to patches for the Linux Kernel like the RC6 latest patches and any other related to the recent Sandy/Ivy Bridges. In another group, Android did an upstream patch and a lot of ARM patches have also come to the Linux Kernel. I have seeing only a small percent of companies and groups that have contributed to the Linux Kernel (http://kernel.org) but I want to know, since the beginning of Ubuntu till now, what has Ubuntu contributed to the Linux Kernel in regards to any aspect of the kernel.   I want to get client machine ip address in my custom Realm when client attempt to login basically here is detail requirement of project User having role 'Admin' can add new users and assign multiple roles and permission ,and at the same time specify list of ip address and countries to restrict them to access website. All these information i am storing in database. So basically till now i am using shiro default 'authc' filter but now i want ip address of client machine and get country from where request is coming and check it against database and then and then only allow access to website. • Should I be worried if I solve a lot of my problems the same way?

  I really enjoy programming games and puzzle creators/games. I find myself engineering a lot of these problems the same way and ultimately using similar technique to program them that I'm really comfortable with. To give you brief insight, I like to create graphs where nodes are represented with objects. These object hold data such as coordinates, positions and of course references to other neighboring objects. I'll place them all in a data structure and make decisions on this information in a "game loop". While this is a brief example, its not exact in all situations. It's just one way I feel really comfortable with. Is this bad?

• Install AMDCONFIG on Ubuntu driver

  In 12.04 I used the official driver downloaded from amd.com which came with amdconfig but now in 14.04 the official driver is buggy so I just use the Ubuntu Official Drivers which works even better because they beefed up the original driver. The Ubuntu driver doesnt come with the terminal command amdconfig which allowed me to tweak/overclock my graphics card. How can I install it without having to install the original AMD driver? Additional Information: -I only use x.org drivers becuase it's opensource therefore more stable rather than the proprietary fglrx driver -I do not use procrams like amdoverdrivectrl or atioverclock because they are not as stable and advanced as the terminal command

I already tried: Craig's list got about 10 resumes, but most couldn't answer our technical questions StackOverflow Careers no responses What sites did you have success with finding good developers? UPDATE 1: Wanted to provide some more information: My company is in NJ. We are a small startup. Less then 10 people. Monster, Dice, CareerBuilder all charge like $500 a month per posting. Seems a bit much. Also only Dice is specifically targeting technical positions. With monster and career builder I am a bit worried about having to go through hundreds of resumes that don't apply.

• When attempting to install ubuntu 12.04 from CD, I am stuck on black streen with "loading bootlogo..."

  I downloaded Ubuntu 12.04 to my desktop and burned to a CD using Infra Recorder and instructions on ubuntu website. Restarted PC to boot from CD receive black screen with "Loading bootlogo..." then nothing happens and I have to restart with windows. The CD seems to be correct.   I operate a website for a West Australian company, and the company has listings in local business directory websites. Currently we are listed in: www.HotFrog.com.au www.Google.com/Places www.TrueLocal.com.au www.StartLocal.com.au www.localstore.com.au www.communityguide.com.au www.yelp.com.au www.aussieweb.com.au Do you know of any method for examining account stats (profile views, profile clicks etc) within a dashboard, so I can see at a glance how each of our listings is going? I'd be happy to build a dashboard if necessary, but I'm not confident I currently have the skills to accurately display only the correct concise information. Would I use iframes? See if they have APIs? Is there a dashboard framework I could use?

Create a console app Add reference to Microsoft.SharePoint.dll Hit F5, curse because I forgot to set the framework to .NET 3.5 Right click properties, change framework to .NET 3.5 Hit F5, curse again because I get a FileNotFoundException, because I forgot to make it a x64 app. Finally on my way, 2 minutes later – which has added to atleast 2 hours over the last year.   Well, no more! • Current state of the art for holographic displays?

  In another thread I was asking about independent arcade system development, and partly it was because I'm interested in using available 3D holographic technology for the displays. I saw one which involved a rotating mirror at very high speeds, so that's probably not going to be too feasible (I'd hate to think of what happens when something goes wrong). Visual studio is doing some magic to replace it during compile/build time with the full assembly signature. The following apply to these tokens or replaceable parameters - Tokens can be specified anywhere in a line. Tokens cannot span multiple lines. The same token may be specified multiple times on the same line and in the same file. Different tokens may be specified on the same line. Tokens that do not follow these rules are ignored without providing a warning or error.
