  SharePoint 2010 Training: more information What is a replaceable parameter? Sometimes you may see something like $SharePoint.Project.AssemblyFullName$ in your code. Visual studio is doing some magic to replace it during compile/build time with the full assembly signature. The following apply to these tokens or replaceable parameters - Tokens can be specified anywhere in a line. Tokens cannot span multiple lines. The same token may be specified multiple times on the same line and in the same file. Different tokens may be specified on the same line. Tokens that do not follow these rules are ignored without providing a warning or error. The replacement of tokens by string values is done immediately after manifest transformation, thus allowing manifest templates edited by a user to use tokens. • HLSL: Pack 4 values into 32 bit float.

  I can't find any useful information on packing 4 values into a 32 bit float in HLSL. Ideally, what I want to be able to do in HLSL is: float4 values = ... // Some values where each component is between 0 and 1. float packedValues = pack32R(values); float4 values2 = unpack32R(packedValues); I realize that there will be precision limitations, and performance tradeoffs between different precisions in different methods. I'm just wondering what ideas are out there.

• Why does pasting sometimes not work in gnome-terminal?

  Ctrl + Shift + C and Ctrl + Shift + V are supposed to replace the normal Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V in gnome-terminal. Sometimes they work, but usually they have no effect. What are some potential reasons for this? I'm not sure what other information to give. Edit: It seems that manually selecting Paste from the Edit menu does not work either. Right click > Paste works, but Edit > Paste does not. Copying works, but pasting does not. Also, I have vi-mode enabled (set -o vi in my ~/.bashrc). Could this have something to do with it? Edit: Here is a video demonstrating the problem. I used Screenkey (in "raw" mode, to catch "shift") to show what keys I am pressing.

We published it on a page where we'll gather articles and tools about DAX query plans: http://www.sqlbi.com/topics/query-plans/I reviewed the paper and this is the result of many months of study - we know that we just scratched the surface of this topic, also because we still don't have enough information about internal behavior of many of the operators contained in a query plan. However, by reading the paper you will start reading a query plan and you will understand how it works the optimization found by Chris Webb one month ago to the events-in-progress scenario. The white paper also contains a more optimized query (10 time faster), even if the performance depends on data distribution and the best choice really depends on the data you have. Now you should be curious enough to read the paper until the end, because the more optimized query is the last example in the paper!

  For any company that has made it onto a "Best Companies to Work For" list* in 2010 that hires programmers, what restrictions on web usage do they have in place? Does that company view unrestricted internet access as a benefit to their employees even if they might use it for non-work related reasons? If you can provide a link to back up this information, even better. (* I don't want to promote any specific publication, but they are easy enough to find.) My hypothesis is that a company that aspires to be one of the best needs to provide fairly unrestricted internet access and I'm trying to test it.

• Sharing VBO with multiple objects and fixed size buffer data

  I'm just messing around with OpenGL and getting some basic structures in place and my first attempt resulted in each SceneObject class (just contains vertex information right now) having it's own VBO inside it, however I've read that it might be better to share VBOs across multiple objects. Also, I read that you should avoid resizing a VBO (repeated calls to glBufferData with different size parameters), and instead choose a fixed size for a VBO, and just try a range from the buffer. I don't think changing the size of the buffer data would happen too often, but surely it would be better to only allocate the data you need? Choosing an arbitrary value seems risky. I'm looking for some advice on working with individual objects in a scene and their associated buffer data.

• How do I connect a Nexus 7 to transfer files?

  I want to move some files from my PC to Nexus 7. The tablet is connected to my PC's USB port and it is successfully charging. Unfortunately, the PC is not detecting the devices - what I expected is to be shown the Nexus 7 tablet as external devices (like my USB flash memory). As the tablet is connected to the my home internet network, I have checked if it will appear in the "Networks" section but it does not. I am using Ubuntu 12.4 LTS. Is there a easy way to connect the devices to my PC and move some information between them?

• Is there a current tool to build your boot / partition on hard drive?

  I tried Windows 8 Consumer Preview a couple months ago and it wiped out my partition table... or the boot information. So now the machine cannot boot to anything at all. Is there Ubuntu tools or Linux tool that can fix all the partition and make them boot again? (The partitions have Windows 7 and Vista on them. I run Ubuntu as a VM on Win 7). I tried another tool running on Vista and was able to see the Win 7 partition, except that tool wiped out the Vista boot info later on.

• Authentication for users on a Single Page App?

  I have developed a single page app prototype that is using Backbone on the front end and going to consume from a thin RESTful API on the server for it's data. Coming from heavy server side application development (php and python), I have really enjoyed the new different design approach with a thick client side MVC but am confused on how best to restrict the app to authenticated users who log in. I prefer to have the app itself behind a login and would also like to implement other types of logins eventually (openid, fb connect, etc) in addition to the site's native login. I am unclear how this is done and have been searching - but unsuccessful in finding information that made it clear to me. In the big picture, what is the current best practice for registering users and requiring them to login to use your single page app? Once a user is logged in, how are the api requests authenticated? Can I store a session but how do I detect for this session in the API calls? Any answers to this would be much appreciated!

• How Can Someone With Minimum Programming Experience Publish an App of an Existing Program not found in the Software Centre?

  There's a free mathematics software that I would like to see in Ubuntu Software Centre, called, 'Sage.' I have minimal experience in programming, so I'm basically here asking if someone could either tell me how to accomplish this without said instructions being completely over my head or if someone could do it for me. For further information here's the sage homepage: http://sagemath.org/ and the .tar.lzma file for its installation is ~500MB and it takes around 2.2 GB on the HDD when installed, I found at least on 32 bit i386 Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.   You may have noticed that Weblogic Server (WLS) 9.2.X and WLS 10.0.X releases have been removed from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. The Delivery Team has been asked to remove or update any product pack or product that embeds WLS 10.3.2 or earlier versions. This is consistent with general Oracle practice of removing old product versions from public distribution systems, and encourages customer usage and adoption of newer product releases such as WLS 10.3.3 or newer.  For the convenience of existing supported customers, a media request SR on My Oracle Support can be entered to obtain any removed media.  Information on how to open such an SR can be found on  MOS Doc ID 1071023.1 . OTN will also be reviewed and similar modifications may potentially be done.  The following media packs will be removed from E-Delivery this week, as of the above reason. • Should I use structure from a core library graphic toolkit in my domain?

  In java (and many other programming language), there are often structure to deal with graphic element : Colour, Shape, etc. Those are most often in a UI toolkit and thus have a relatively strong coupling with UI element. Now, in the domain of my application, we often deal with colour, shape, etc, to display statistic information on an element. Right now all we do with it is display/save those element with little or no behaviour. Would it make sense to avoid "reinventing the wheel" and directly use the structures in java.awt.* or should I make my own element and avoid a coupling to this toolkit? Its not like those element are going away anytime soon (they are part of the core java library after all), but at the same time it feel weird to import java.awt.* server side. I have no problem using java.util.List everywhere. Should I feel different about those class? What would be the "recommended" practice in that case?

• Oracle Hosts Successful PeopleSoft Customer Advisory Board Meetings

  Last week, Oracle hosted the annual Customer Advisory Board meetings for various PeopleSoft applications, including the PeopleTools CAB.  The three day event at the Oracle headquarters brought together over 90 customers, with over 170 representatives taking part.  This was the largest CAB event PeopleSoft has had to date.  The focus of the event was to share our vision for PeopleSoft, and gain valuable input from our customer base on our direction and focus areas.  The customer feedback we received for the event was extremely positive, matching the sentiment on our side.  The information our CAB members provided was excellent; it will help ensure that we focus on the areas that matter most to our customers.   I’d like to thank all the customers that took the time out of their schedules to hear where we’re looking to go in the future, and provide guidance on how we can best assist our customer base on remaining successful in the marketplace.

I know some basic anatomy as you can see by the picture but I have no idea how I will make draw the pics for animation of the character walking, attacking with his sword and protecting himself with shield. Is there any anatomy reference for 2d game out there, book or anything else? for your information, I did try to find but all of stuff I found are very amateur and incomplete The picture was my attempt of creating a example of the character walking, which I'm not happy with please help, thanks Update: Since I am in a hurry I decided I would copy the anatomy from other 2d games, it is not that clean but at least I wanna be able to start it. • Transparency call for Spec Leads and EC materials posted

  The materials and recording from the February 2012 call for JCP program Spec Leads is now available.  This call features Martijn Verburg, alternate EC representative for the London Java Community and includes information on the Adopt-a-JSR program.  The materials and audio recording of the  "Leveraging the Community" call can be found on the multimedia page of jcp.org .  The EC meeting summaries from February and March 2012 have also been posted.  Following the April 2012 EC Meeting this morning (minutes and materials will be posted soon), there are now four EC Members that have lost their voting privileges--AT&T, SK Telecom, Samsung and Twitter.  In order to regain their privileges, these EC Members must attend two EC meeting in a row, as detailed in the EC Standing Rules.

• Giant battery consumption with dual graphics solution (only i-gpu working)

  I use a Laptop with Intel Core i7 SandyBridge and integrated Intel HD3000 graphics as well as a Nvidia Geforce GTS 555M. So far, I got the impression my Laptop was running with the Nvidia graphics adapter only because the fan was always running on highest speed (and loudest noise) and it was getting very hot even when doing nothing. Also the battery is empty after ~40-50 minutes (while having ~4-5 hours with Intel graphics in Win7). Since this can't be healthy I wanted to switch to the integrated graphics instead. I was fairly surprised when the System Information showed me that the as graphics adapter I use "Intel M". Why is my battery empty so fast with Ubuntu? Without using the NVIDIA graphics adapter? Summary: I DONT WANT to use the Nvidia graphics adapter (OPTIMUS), I just want the Intel solution. As I have understood, the Intel solution is running already, emptying my battery 10x as fast as Win7. What is wrong? Any ideas?

  I have installed Ubuntu 14.04, I have installed Eclipse using Ubuntu Software Center. But Eclipse is not opening, when I click it is not opening or showing any error message it is very silent. • What is the name for landing pages that are one long page?

  Really don't see them much anymore, but here's an example of what I mean: From comments: These are "high pressure" sales pages, design to overload the user with information, sell them on the belief that what they're buying is what they need, normally have a lot of testimonials, highlighted text, etc. The pages I'm talking about are not user friendly, they're aggressive sales pitches designed to target users wanting to belief the webpage they just landed on will solve there problems for an "affordable" price. Here's an example: www_landingpagecashmachine_com (remove the underscores, since I'm attempting to avoid linking to a site like that...) Bonus points: if you're able to tell me the name of the guy/company that popularized these types of pages; recall hearing about his company years ago, after he died in a crash while racing on a track with his Ferrari club on the west coast of the US. (Update: Appears Corey Rudl was the guy's name, and his company was called "The Internet Marketing Center." Even with that info, I've still been unable to find the name for these type of pages.)

• System network service uncompatable after harddrive change and format

  After changing out the hard drive in my dell optiplex 750, and reinstalling ubuntu, my computer tells me the system network services are not compatable. Because my cd drive does not work, I installed this by placing the hard drive in another computer an dusign the mini.iso to install it. I need networking capabilities becuase I want to use this computer as a web server. The on-board ethernet card is a intel 82566 something. If you need more information, and can tell me how to get it, just ask. Please help.
