  I am trying to evaluate a XPathExpression with XQSharp and get the Error:"Type check error. The empty sequence cannot be cast to type 'xs:integer'." AltovaXMLSpy evaluates it correct as "true". oXmlDoc.CreateNavigator().XPathEvaluate("root/foo/bar cast as xs:integer lt count(root/blah/blub)", oNamespaseManager).ToString() This XML looks like this: <root xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <foo> <bar>0</bar> </foo> <blah> <blub/> </blah> </root> What am I missing?

  I am new to Scala, and ran across a small hiccup that has been annoying me. Initializing two vars in parallel works great: var (x,y) = (1,2) However I can't find a way to assign new values in parallel: (x,y) = (x+y,y-x) //invalid syntax I end up writing something like this: val xtmp = x+y; y = x-y; x = xtmp I realize writing functional code is one way of avoiding this, but there are certain situations where vars just make more sense. I have two questions: 1) Is there a better way of doing this? Am I missing something? 2) What is the reason for not allowing true parallel assignment?

• efficient way to detect if an image is empty

  Hi, I need a very fast method to detect if an image is empty. Im my case then all pixels are white and transparant. The images are png's. My current method is to load them in a memory bitmap and check each pixel value, but this is way to slow. Is there a more efficient way? This is my current code: 'Lock the bitmap bits.   I have a UIScrollview with a UITableview subview. The UIScrollview scrolls the UITableView horizontally. The UITable view naturally scrolls up and down. If a user places their finger on the UitableView, and moves (swipes) horizontally, The delegate method below is invoked (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView with scrollView isEqual theUIScrollView If the user lifts their finger and places it back down on the UITableView and moves in a vertical direction The delegate method below is invoked (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView with scrollView isEqual = theUITable If however the user places their finger and moves in a horizontally (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView with scrollView isEqual theUIScrollView If the user then moves the finger (without lifting it) in a vertical direction. delegate method scrollViewDidScroll is not invoked at all. (The reverse is true too.) I note that the "Pulse News" app seems to behave in the above manner.. • jquery waiting until function is done

  So, I set the closing function for simple modal as follows: $.modal.defaults.onClose = function (dialog) { $.validationEngine.closePrompt(".formError",true); dialog.data.fadeOut('slow', function () {}); dialog.container.fadeOut('slow', function () {}); dialog.overlay.fadeOut('slow', function () { $.modal.close(); }); } The line where the validationengine closes prompts basically just makes some divs disappear. The problem is that I don't want things to start fading out until closePrompt() is complete. Is there a way to do that? Is the only way with a "callback"? I don't think it has that built in to the function. Any other way to do it?

• How useful is a 'pure' MVC implementation?

  I work at a company that provides custom made 'CRM'-like software. We are currently redesigning/redeveloping the software with the hopes that it will look more modern and be easier to develop and customize for future clients. Currently it takes a long time to customize each new application. There is a presumption that the reason it takes so long is because of the amount of business logic that is present in the 'view' layer. To some extent I can vouch for this being true, but symptoms don't always reliably point out a cause. There was a suggestion that if we just move the business logic to the controller layer and use pure view (we use java J2EE and struts) as in implementing struts tags instead of calling the bean layer and iterating objects right on the jsp - etc etc. Before I start advocating we go forward with this, I wanted to get a feeling for what other people thought. Does a "pure" implementation of the MVC (especially emphasis on decoupling the controller and the view) provide a cleaner, easier to develop and change code base?

We have a part of the site (admin) that we have put in it's own sub directory and with its own routing rules: routes.Add("DomainRoute", new DomainRoute( ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["adminDomain"], // Domain with parameters "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "AdminPage", action = "Admin", id = "", isAdmin = true } We have all the views for the admin site inside an admin sub folder so that you get paths like: \views\admin\auth\login.aspx In the \controllers\admin\authController.aspx file I have a function called login: public ActionResult Login() { return View(); } This works just as it should, ie if i go admin.localhost\auth\login I go to the login page. But if I do a right click in visual studio and "go to view" i get an error "unable to go to matching view". Is there anyway to solve this?

  I've got a problem when using Shoes. I'm basically trying to open an excel document and pass the names of the worksheets to a list_box. The following method is called on a button press after selecting a file. • Java: Selected rows's index does not changes when I sort them!

  Hello, I have a Jtable on which I called the method table1.setAutoCreateRowSorter(true);. So this works on well. But I also have a methos in my JFrame class which is fired when i push a button. It gets the selected rows indexes using this code int selectedRows[] = this.table1.getSelectedRows();. And displays an edit window for the first row corresponding in the selected interval. The problem is that if I don't click on column's headers (I mean i don't sorte them at all) my method works perfect. But when I sort the row, the indexes of the rows doesn't seems to change at all - thus resulting an edit window for the old row whicn was initially in that position before making any sort. I am using JDK 6 could anyonw give ma a tip?

  Why is it that I loose data between the conversions below even though both types take up the same amount of space? If the conversion was done bitwise, it should be true that x = z unless data is being stripped during the conversion, right?   For everyone that was thinking of the error_reporting() function, then it isn't, what I need is whenever a MySQL query has been done, and the statement has like if($result) { echo "Yes, it was fine... bla bla"; } else { echo "Obviously, the echo'ing will show in a white page with the text ONLY..."; } Whenever statements have been true or false, I want the error to be appeared when redirected with the header() function and echo the error reporting in a div somewhere on the page. Basically something like this: $error = ''; This part appears inside the div tags <div><?php echo $error; ?></div> So the error part will be echoed when redirected with the header() if($result) { $error = "Yes, it was fine... bla bla"; header("Location: url"); } else { $error = "Something wrong happened..."; header("Location: url"); } But that just doesn't work :(

• Client-side session timeout redirect in ASP.Net

  I want to build a way to automatically redirect users to Timeout.aspx when their session expires due to inactivity. My application uses forms authentication and relies heavily on update panels within the same aspx page for user interaction, so I don't want to simply redirect after a page-level timer expires. For the same reason, I can't use '<meta http-equiv="refresh"/>' What I want to do is create a simple ajax web service with a method called IsSessionTimedOut(), that simply returns a boolean. I will use a javascript timer to periodically call the method, and if it returns true, then redirect to Timeout.aspx. However, I don't want calling this method to reset the session timeout timer, or the session would never time out because of the service call. Is there a clean way to avoid this catch-22? Hopefully there is an easy solution that has so far eluded me.

  I've got an embeds_many association I'm trying to set up which I've done successfully before, but I'm trying to do it all in one nested form and I can't figure it out. Let's say we have a pocket model: class Pocket include Mongoid::Document field :title, type: String embeds_many :coins, cascade_callbacks: true end and a Coin Model: class Coin include Mongoid::Document field :name, type: String embedded_in :pocket end in my form for the pocket, I'm using: = f.fields_for @pocket.coins do |coin| = coin.text_field :name My controller is the default scaffolded controller. When I use the console, it saves fine and I can see the new pocket and coin I've created. But when I try to create or update a coin from the form, the pocket saves but the coin remains unchanged. What am I missing here?

• Can jQuery UI's Sortable handle complex selectors for the items option?

  I have list items in an unordered list that when double clicked, can be edited in place via a wysiwyg editor. $('ul.mtm_section').sortable({ disabled: true, distance: 10, items: '> li:not(:has(form))' }); My goal is to prevent the list item from being sorted while it is being edited - aka once a form element has been swapped in place of the contents. Unfortunately my selector for items is not working. Is sortable able to handle complex selectors like these? If not, are there other clever means to disable some items from being sortable, perhaps a callback function? I would prefer to rely on this sortable option, as the wysiwyg plugin is deeply nested with jEditable and as far as I know does not open up any events for me to hook into. Using jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.1
