  • Using Active Directory Web Services in .Net application

    Hello, I'm trying to build a .Net application to interrogate Active Directory. From my research, Windows 2008 R2 has Active Directory Web Services (ADWS) built in. I can't find any details or examples anywhere on the web which tell me whether I should be able to use ADWS in a .Net application to read/write AD information. Should I simply be able to add a web reference or is ADWS just for Powershell use. Cheers, Iain

    Hi everybody, In VS 2010, changing true in a MVC2 project's .csproj file causes an error if you are using Entity Framework. Could not load type 'System.Data.Entity.Design.AspNet.EntityDesignerBuildProvider'. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Config\web.config 129 I want to build views while I'm debugging, and I also want my project compile! Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Using Monotouch with Google .NET APIs

    I am using Mike Bluestein's article, http://mikebluestein.wordpress.com/2009/09/27/using-monotouch-with-the-net-library-for-the-google-data-api/, to build an application that communicates with the google APIs. When I try to add references to my project, the imported projects say "incompatible target framework: v2.0". I can change version to 1.0, 3.0, or 3.5 with the same results. If I add the .dll to the monotouch project I get a compilation error - monotouch failed with no output 134. Any suggestions?

I need an Android service that always runs in the background and keeps a long polling connection to an HTTP server and communicates with it using JSON over POST method. Does anyone have anything similar to this?

  • UITabBar without labels (like Tweetie 2/Twitter for iPhone)

    I'd like to build an app with a tabbar in the style of Tweetie 2/Twitter for iPhone (that is, images with no labels). I can't see a way to do it with normal UITabBarController/UITabBar, and my current thinking is that it's actually a UIToolbar with a custom view controller that is pushing and popping views from an array to simulate the UITabBarController's default behavior. Is this the approach that you all would recommend, or is there something more elegant that I'm overlooking?

    Hi, Could someone tell me the advantages to using the ConfigurationManager class which load's a config file for manipulation VS an XML file with a class you build to read it yourself? Recently, I built a class which inherits from ConfigurationSection in order to manipulate a custom section within app.config. This was quite a bit of work compared to just opening and reading an XML file. Some people chose the first approach, others chose the second. What's good practice?

    Hi, I've been testing this upload script and it looks really good, but i just can't get it to post values, that i have extracted from inputs. Everything is looking good and it seems I'm writing everything correctly but it just stops SWF DEBUG: Event: uploadStart : File ID: SWFUpload_0_0, there's my piece of code which causes these troubles .bind('uploadStart', function(event, file){ $(this).addPostParam( "title", "asd"); }) I'm using it as jquery plugin, maybe that's the problem?     I tried to build my (cocos2d 0.99.0-based) project with iPhone SDK 4 GM which was just released today. The reason is because I want to incorporate iAds in my apps. However I got 20 error messages which looks like errors in library calling. Can anyone tell me whether we can actually use cocos2d 0.99.0? I'm aware that 99.3 was released but they didn't mention any iOS 4 compatibilities.

  • Offloading to HLSL/GPU without displaying?

    As far as I know, certain mathematical functions like FFTs and perlin noise, etc. can be much faster when done on the GPU as a pixel shader. My question is, if I wanted to exploit this to calculate results and stream to bitmaps, could I do it without needing to actually display it in Silverlight or something? More specifically, I was thinking of using this for large terrain generation involving lots of perlin and other noises, and post-processing like high passes and deriving normals from heightmaps, etc, etc.

    I need to build a quick feasibility test / proof-of-concept of a remote database for a client, that will be populated with mostly-typical Company and People data (names, addresses, etc); 150K records or so. The sample databases mentioned here were helpful: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/57068/good-databases-with-sample-data ...but, I'd like to be able to generate sample data like this easily on less-typical datasets as well. Anyone have any recommendations for off-the-shelf (or off-the-web) solutions?
