• MD5 hash differences between Python and other file hashers

  I have been doing a bit of programming in Python (still a n00b at it) and came across something odd. I made a small program to find the MD5 hash of a filename passed to it on the command line. I used a function I found here on SO. When I ran it against a file, I got a hash "58a...113". But when I ran Microsoft's FCIV or the md5sum.py in \Python26\Tools\Scripts\, I get a different hash, "591...ae6". The actual hashing part of the md5sum.py in Scripts is m = md5.new() while 1: data = fp.read(bufsize) if not data: break m.update(data) out.write('%s %s\n' % (m.hexdigest(), filename)) This looks functionally identical to the code in the function given in the other answer... What am I missing? (This is my first time posting to stackoverflow, please let me know if I am doing it wrong.)

• Wordpress pages address rewrite

  UPDATE I tried using the internal wordpress rewrite. What I have to do is an address like this: http://example.com/galleria/artist-name sent to the gallery.php page with a variable containing the artist-name. On the real site, on the other hand, the initial URL is accepted (as in it doesn't go into a 404) BUT it changes to http://example.com/gallery (I mean it actually changes in the browser's address bar) and the variable is not defined in gallery.php. Any idea what could possibly cause this different behavior? Alternatively, any other way I couldn't think of which could achieve the same effect described in the first three lines is perfectly fine. Old question What I need to do is rewriting this address: (1) http://localhost/wordpress/fake/text-value to (2) http://localhost/wordpress/gallery?somevar=text-value Notes: the remapping must be transparent: the user always has to see address (1) gallery is a permalink to a wordpress page, not a real address I basically need to rewrite the address first (to modify it) and then feed it back to mod rewrite again (to let wordpress parse it its own way). Problems if I simply do RewriteRule ^fake$ http://localhost/wordpress/gallery [L] it works but the address in the browser changes, which is no good, if I do RewriteRule ^fake$ /wordpress/gallery [L] I get a 404. I tried different flags instead of [L] but to no avail. How can I get this to work? • Convert PHP date into javascript date format

  I have a PHP script that outputs an array of data. This is then transformed into JSON using the json_encode() function. My issue is I have a date within my array and its is not in the correct javascript format. How can I convert this within PHP so it is? $newticket['ThreadID'] = $addticket; $newticket['Subject'] = $subject; //$newticket['DateCreated'] = date('d-m-Y G:H'); Instead of the above fo rthe date I need the equivilant of the javascript function new Date() When I output the above I get the following "Fri Jun 01 2012 11:08:48 GMT+0100 (GMT Daylight Time)" However, If I format my PHP date to be the same, javascript rejects it. I'm trying to get it so that if you're down a ways on the gallery and then click "foreword" or any menu item, it scrolls you back to 0,0.   I've inherited some code that I need to debug. It isn't working at present. My task is to get it to work. No other requirements have been given to me. No, this isn't homework, this is a maintenance nightmare job. ASP.Net (framework 3.5), C#, jQury 1.4.2. This project makes heavy use of jQuery and AJAX. There is a drop down on a page that, when an item is chosen, is supposed to add that item (it's a user) to an object in the database. To accomplish this, the previous programmer first, on page load, dynamically loads the entire page through AJAX. To do this, he's got 5 div's, and each one is loaded from a jquery call to a different full page in the website. Somehow, the HTML and BODY and all the other stuff is stripped out and the contents of the div are loaded with the content of the aspx page. Which seems incredibly wrong to me since it relies on the browser to magically strip out html, head, body, form tags and merge with the existing html head body form tags. Also, as the "content" page is returned as a string, the previous programmer has this code running on it before it is appended to the div: function CleanupResponseText(responseText, uniqueName) { responseText = responseText.replace("theForm.submit();", "SubmitSubForm(theForm, $(theForm).parent());"); responseText = responseText.replace(new RegExp("theForm", "g"), uniqueName); responseText = responseText.replace(new RegExp("doPostBack", "g"), "doPostBack" + uniqueName); return responseText; } When the dropdown itself fires it's onchange event, here is the code that gets fired: function SubmitSubForm(form, container) { //ShowLoading(container); $(form).ajaxSubmit( { url: $(form).attr("action"), success: function(responseText) { $(container).html(CleanupResponseText(responseText, form.id)); $("form", container).css("margin-top", "0").css("padding-top", "0"); //HideLoading(container); } } ); } This blows up in IE, with the message that "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method" -- which, I think, has to be that $(form).ajaxSubmit method doesn't exist. What is this code really trying to do? I am so turned around right now that I think my only option is to scrap everything and start over. But I'd rather not do that unless necessary. Is this code good? Is it working against .Net, and is that why we are having issues?

Include alert(0); to break the flow and find out what is happening. sometimes when i need multiple check points i do alert('the flow is now in function 1'); alert('the flow is now in function 2'); or sometimes just alert('success'); i would like to know if there is any standard way for debugging adopted as i am finding my current method very intrusive. thanks in advance..:)

• An Inaccessible JavaScript Object property - Why is Firebug showing this?

  So, I'm attempting to access the content of an object and for the life of me can't figure out why I can't. I'm starting to believe that the object doesn't have the properties that Firebug indicates that it does. More likely than that I'm just not using the right syntax to access them. Give the following function: function(userData) { console.log(userData); // statement 1 console.log(userData.t_nodecontent); // statement 2 } Which generates the following FireBug output for statement 1 and unknown for statement 2. Is there something obvious that I'm overlooking in the way I'm attempting to reference the value of t_nodecontent? I'm at a loss :(

• Keep hover state applied until user mouses over another element.

  First let me state that I'm a jquery noob, so this may not make a lot of sense. So I have a series of list items that expand to show a hidden div inside if the user mouses over a link inside the item (not the whole list item itself) The problem is that if the users mouse leaves the link the li closes up again. I need this to work in a way so that the li only closes if you mouse over a link in another li. • keypress event not being triggered only at start and end of text field in Firefox (JQuery)

  I'm listening for keypress events on an input field with delegation. For some reason, Firefox doesn't trigger the delegated event for cursor UP when at the start of the field, or cursor DOWN when at the end. LEFT and RIGHT work as expected all the time. Directly binding an event listener to the field works fine, so it has to be something to do with delegation. • How do you modify a modal popup from ASP codebehind instead of letting it close?

  I'm using SimpleModal to create a popup on an ASP.net application. The OK button calls a server-side function - and based on the resulta of that function I'd like to modify the popup (make some things visible, etc.) instead of letting it close. If that's too difficult, I'd like to open the popup again without the user having to re-click on anything. I'm just not sure what the best way to do this is. Currently the OK button in the popup looks like this: <asp:ImageButton ID="submitInfoBtn" OnClick="btnSubmitInfo_Click" ImageUrl="css/assets/btn_ok.png" runat="server"/> and there is nothing defined that tells anything that the OK button should close the popup (the Cancel button has class="simplemodal-close", so I would expect it to do just that, but not the OK button) - anyone have any ideas on the best way through this?   I'm trying to make a script in photoshop that will modify some layers and than export them as a PNG image. I've copied the following code from another place: function SavePNG(saveFile){ var pngOpts = new ExportOptionsSaveForWeb; pngOpts.format = SaveDocumentType.PNG pngOpts.PNG8 = false; pngOpts.transparency = true; pngOpts.interlaced = true; pngOpts.quality = 100; activeDocument.exportDocument(saveFile,ExportType.SAVEFORWEB,pngOpts); } The function export the active document of photoshop to the file specified by the saveFile parameter. It's working fine with simple paths like 'C:\images\result.png' but when trying with different paths like '~/Desktop/' or paths with some special characters the file isn't exported, and a 'destination folder does not exist' error massage appear. Any idea how can I solve it?

  If I have a class that holds one or several lists is it better to allow other classes to fetch those lists(with a getter) or to implement a doXList/eachXList type method for that list that take a function and call that function on each element of the list contained by that object. I wrote a program that did a ton of this and I hated passing around all these lists sometimes with method in class a calling method in class B to return lists contained in class C, B contains a C or multiple C's (note question is about dynamically typed OO languages languages like ruby or smalltalk) ex. (that came up in my program) on a Person class containing scheduling preferences and a scheduler class needing to access them.
