  • Javascript handling textarea

    Hi all, I'm a bit new to Javascript and am trying to create a delimited string from a textare. The problem is when passing in the textarea, it adds newlines for each row on the textarea. I need to have the entire textarea parsed into a string with a delimiter for each line (replacing the newline char). So for example, if you passed in a textarea with the following lines (which is also how it looks when using the alert function): abcd efgh ijkl It would look like: abcd-efgh-ijkl after parsing. function submitToForm(form) { var param_textarea = form.listofplugins.value; var test = param_textarea.replace(/\\r?\\n/, /:/) alert(test); } Thanks a lot!

I'm trying to get it so that if you're down a ways on the gallery and then click "foreword" or any menu item, it scrolls you back to 0,0. The current sliding code is as follows: $('#wrapper ul li').click(function() { $(window).scrollTo($(this).next('li'), 500, {offset: {top:0, left:-50}}, {easing:'easeOutExpo'} ); }); And I'm trying to add something like this under it: $('#menu li').click(function() { $(window).scrollTo(0,0, 500, {offset: {top:0, left:-50}}, {easing:'easeOutExpo'} ); }); It continues switching tabs, but it won't scroll back to the beginning!

  • Keep hover state applied until user mouses over another element.

    First let me state that I'm a jquery noob, so this may not make a lot of sense. So I have a series of list items that expand to show a hidden div inside if the user mouses over a link inside the item (not the whole list item itself) The problem is that if the users mouse leaves the link the li closes up again. I need this to work in a way so that the li only closes if you mouse over a link in another li.     I'm revising this question after reading the resources mentioned in the original answers and working through implementing it. I'm using the google maps api to integrate a map into my Rails site. I have a markets model with the following columns: ID, name, address, lat, lng. On my markets/index view, I want to populate a map with all the markets in my markets table. I'm trying to output @markets as json data, and that's where I'm running into problems. I have the basic map displaying, but right now it's just a blank map. I'm following the tutorials very closely, but I can't get the markers to generate dynamically from the json. Any help is much appreciated!   • What's void *userData exactly?

    In a C function declaration, I have seen this parameter definition: void *userData so, what exactly is that? My guess: the void says it can be anything arbitrary, or even nothing. Almost similar to id of objective-c. It just allows to pass in whatever data structure you like. The star in front of userData says, that the argument must be passed in by reference. So when using this stuff in the function body, typically it must be casted and dereferenced. So if I pass in an pointer to SomeClass instance, I would get that like this: SomeClass *myObj = (SomeClass*)userData; In the case I had nothing special to pass along, I would provide NULL as argument. Are my assumptions correct? Or did I get something wrong?

Include alert(0); to break the flow and find out what is happening. sometimes when i need multiple check points i do alert('the flow is now in function 1'); alert('the flow is now in function 2'); or sometimes just alert('success'); i would like to know if there is any standard way for debugging adopted as i am finding my current method very intrusive. thanks in advance..:)

  • Examining C/C++ Heap memory statistics in gdb

    I'm trying to investigate the state of the C/C++ heap from within gdb on Linux amd64, is there a nice way to do this? One approach I've tried is to "call mallinfo()" but unfortunately I can't then extract the values I want since gdb deal with the return value properly. I'm not easily able to write a function to be compiled into the binary for the process I am attached to, so I can simply implement my own function to extract the values by calling mallinfo() in my own code this way. Is there perhaps a clever trick that will allow me to do this on-the-fly? Another option could be to locate the heap and traverse the malloc headers / free list; I'd appreciate any pointers to where I could start in finding the location and layout of these. I've been trying to Google and read around the problem for about 2 hours and I've learnt some fascinating stuff but still not found what I need.

    Hi guys, I am trying to use jQuery (latest version) & ajax to poll a mysql db every x seconds, post.php does a simple search query on the table and limits to 1 row. (eg SELECT id FROM TABLE LIMIT 1) I've got some other jQuery UI (using v1.8) code that displays some modal/dialog boxes on the screen, simply put if post.php returns something from the db I need to initialise the dialog to pop up onto the screen.     I need to parse JavaDoc (documentation) comment syntax with Delphi 7. It is well known in the java world as "JavaDoc", but I'm actually doing this for PHP, ie, parsing JavaDoc in some PHP code. Call it PHPDoc if you want to. To see how these comments work, you can see RAD IDEs like NetBeans etc. Example of JavaDoc for addition function: /** * Adds to numbers together. * @param integer $a The first number. * @param integer $b The second number. * @return integer The resulting number. */ function add($a,$b){ return $a+$b; } Please note that the parser need not be full, ie, parsing all of the PHP code.   • CakePHP: Ajax view problem (nothing in the view showing)

    I created a function in my controller called addToPlaylist($songName). I wanted to add these song names to an array and then a session variable using an Ajax call. The first time i did this i got an error saying i do not have a template file to display in the chosen div ("add_to_playlist.ctp was missing"). I created this file and everything seemed to be working correctly. Basically I went to bed woke up and it is broken (it is possible I changed something before I went to bed). The problem now is that it does not show anything when i click the ajax link. when i click on the ajax link it seems to call the function but nothing displays in the view (except debug info) even when i delete the view (add_to_playlist.ctp) i get no errors, I just see debug info now.

  • Where are the readonly/const in .NET?

    In C++ you'll see void func(const T& t) everywhere. However, i havent seen anything similar in .NET. Why? I have notice a nice amount of parameters using struct. But i see no functions with readonly/const. In fact now that i tried it i couldnt use those keywords to make a function that promises to not modify a list being passed in. Is there no way to promise the caller that this function will never modify the contents of list? Is there no way to say to call code and say this list should never be modified? (I know i can clone the list or look at documentation but i like compile errors sometime)

    I'd like to get the same behaviour of the native javascript scrollTo function in iPad, just attaching a function to the swipe event and scrolling the content a specific number of pixels. That doesn't work in iPad using scrollTo or several different jquery plugins, like scrollTo or iScroll. I think I'm having problems because I'm working with an iframe, as I have another html document in it, with its body divided in columns, but I'm just showing the first one. The point of all this is that, after swiping, it should show the next/prev column, and I tried scrolling the iframe window or the inner's html body, which actually works in chrome, but it doesn't in iPad.
