• Minimum needs to Deploy SQL Server Integration Services 2008

  Hi, I would like to run SSIS 2008 packages on a server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it. I have a simple package to test the concept, but it fails to execute. The return code is 9020 which I have not seen listed as a return code elsewhere. I have copied the following files to the test server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it: SelfContainedSample.dtsConfig Package.dtsx DTExec.exe I am attempting to run the package using a batch file. The line in the batch file that runs the package is: "%dtexecloc%\dtexec.exe" /FILE "%packagefolder%\Package.dtsx" /CONFIGFILE "%configfolder\SelfContainedSample.dtsConfig" /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E %logfile% set rc=%errorlevel% I am wondering if there are other requirements that need to be satified to run an SSIS 2008 package on a server that does not have SQL Server 2008 on it? .NET Runtime?   Hi, I see many post dealing with the UIScrollView like in the PhotoApp, but I don't really understand them, thats why I want to reopen a post about it and have a simple solution. What I want is to create (without IB) a simple UIViewController who will contain a UIScrollView (inside my scrollView there will be image and the scrollView will be set to pagingEnable to YES of course). I want to be able with a simple touch of the screen to display the navigationController.navigationBar inside my UIViewController and with another touch not displaying it of course. • how to organize javascripts using rails and jquery

  Hi, i'm working in a big and rich rails web application using tons of javascript. I would like to know if anybody has a tip to organize the javascripts. Today i'm generating a new file named controller.js and adding it to my views using content_for. The problem is, some files are becoming big and sometimes, i need a function from one controller in another, so then in the end, i add a products.js to a details controller just to keep DRY. Is that solution good? Any other tip? I think the same pattern can be applied as well to css files?

• How to refresh an activity? Map View refresh fails

  Hi Guys, after implementing some Android Apps, including several Map activities, I try to refresh the activity when the GPS listener's onLocationChanged() mehtod is called. I have no idea how to tell the map activity to refresh on its own and display the new coords... the coords to store will have to be in global values, so that the location listener will have access to it. • Jagged Array Dimensions

  I'm using jagged arrays and have a bit of a problem (or at least I think I do). The size of these arrays are determined by how many rows are returned in a database, so it is very variable. The only solution I have is to set the dimensions of the array to be very huge, but this seems ... just not the best way to do things. int[][] hulkSmash = new int[10][]; hulkSmash[0] = new int[2] {1,2}; How can I work with jagged arrays without setting the dimensions, or is this just a fact of life with C# programming??

• What to write in "Web location" field when starting an "New website" in Visual Studio 2010?

  I want a website to be deployed automatically to a local IIS (built in Windows XP Pro SP3), avoiding VisualStudio-built-in server if possible. I'd like development source files to be stored in a project folder outside wwwroot (I wouldn't mind built files to be copied to wwwroot each time I press F5). I don't store my projects inside default directories inside "My documents". What should I specify as in "Web location" when starting an "New website" in Visual Studio 2010? A deployment path in wwwroot, a folder where I'd like to save my project, or something else? I want the website to be a part of a complex solution in VS 2010, also icludinc a class libray project, a WinForms application project, a Windows Service project and a common Entitity Framework data model.

• MeioUpload and phpThumb() does not exist error

  I am currently using CakePHP v2.2.1 and MeioUpload 4.0 along with phpThumb() to try and generate image uploads and thumbnails for those images. If i set my $actAs = array() without the thumbsizes property everything is uploaded well, but when I add the following: 'thumbsizes' => array( 'small' => array('width' => 165, 'height' => 115), 'medium' => array('width' => 800, 'height' => 600) ), to generate thumbnails I get an error stating the following: "E:/xampp/htdocs/site/vendors/phpthumb/img/posts/image-name.jpg" does not exist I have tried several different methods of fixing this from around the web and nothing seems to work. I am new to cakephp so this may be an easy fix and I am just not connecting the dots to find the solution. Any help would be very much appreciated.

• How to render the properties of the view model's base class first when using ViewData.ModelMetadata.

  When I use the ViewData.ModelMetadata.Properties in order to loop the properties (with an additional Where(modelMetadata => modelMetadata.ShowForEdit && !ViewData.TemplateInfo.Visited(modelMetadata))), and thereby create a generic edit view, the properties of the view model's base class are rendered last. Is it possible to use a clever OrderBy() or is there another way to first get the properties of the base class, and then the sub class'? Reverse won't do the trick since the ordering of each class' properties is perfectly fine. A workaround would of course be composition + delegation, but since we don't have mixins, it's too un-DRY IMHO, why I seek a better solution if possible.

• Visual Studio 2008 - formatting/control characters/marks

  Hi, I don't know what I did but somehow the IDE has started displaying a green dot whenever I press spacebar and a green arrowhead whenever I press TAB. The source has become littered with these characters all over and I am finding it very difficult to code in the presence of so many formatting marks. I have tried to search a solution on Google but couldn't perhaps enter the right keywords so haven't been able to fix the behavior. Is there any way I can stop VS2008 IDE from littering my source code with these green dots and arrowheads whenever I press spacebar/tab? I would be really thankful for this help. • Is there a way in PHP to check if a directory is a symlink?

  The title says it all. I have symlinks to certain directories because the directories' names have non English characters that I got fed up trying to get apache's rewrite rules to match. Now the rewrite rules are back to just alpha and _ and - and my security concerns are less and it loads the resources I want. But I still need the actual target directory name for display purposes. • Scrum burn down charts, can they go negative?

  I work on a small Agile development team which is part of a large, non-agile thinking corporation. Currently, we practise Scrum and occasionally, we exceed our sprint commitment. My question is, how do you handle burn down charts when you have exceeded your sprint commitment? I can think of two options: Extend the y-axis in the negative direction and keep counting down Add more cards/stories/work and have the burn down value increase by that amount, burning down when that work is finished. The ultimate solution for my team is one which is clear to the business and adds real value for the developers. So far, neither of these solutions has worked out perfectly.

• multiple occurences of HandleCreated for a single control

  I’m using control that needs to be register to asynchronous events. The events will be raised in the UI thread using the ISynchronizeInvoke interface implemented by WinForms controls I can’t register to the event at the constructor because it will allow calling the event handler before the control is fully created. during which calls to ISynchronizeInvoke are not allowed. Solution to that problem is to use the perform the asynchronous event registration from an event handler to the HandleCreated instead of registering from the constructor. however, this poses another issue, in some scenations the HandleCreated event is raised multiple times as result of change at the control state. For example, each changing of the “RightToLeft” property causes a WMCreate message that cause raising the “HandleCreated” event. How can I prevent the multiply times of event rising? Is there is another way to know when the control is created and display for the first time? I can keep a boolean flag in the HandleCreated, however it feels like a hack and I am wondering if there is a better way to handle this issue.

• iPhone OpenGLES textures - colour banding

  I've got a problem with openGL on iPhone which I'm sure must have a simple solution! When I load a texture and display it, I get a lot of what I believe is called 'Colour Banding', whereby the colours, particularly on gradients, seem to get automatically 'optimized'. Just to demonstrate that this wasn't anything wrong with my own code, I downloaded the iPhone 'Crashlanding' app and replaced the background image, and as you can see in the image below (Taken from the simulator), the exact same thing happens. The image on the left is the original PNG, and on the right is it in the game. It's almost as if it's palette is being downsized to a 256 colour one. Screenshot I'm sure this is related to the format I'm saving the image as, although it doesn't just happen with PNG's, it seems to happen no matter what image format I chose. Doing my head in! If you want to recreate this, simply download the crash landing app, and replace the background. Thanks so much in advance for any help.

• API access to a manually-created Google Map

  I have a number of public custom Google Maps created via http://maps.google.com/ - obviously associated with my google account. Can I access these maps via the Google Maps javascript api? The api doesn't appear to work with the manually created maps located on maps.google.com from what I can tell? And if not, is there another way to store overlay data (markers, etc) that the javascript api can grab and load into the map on the client's browser? Am thinking a service like dabbleDB, except that I don't think they offer write access via javascript (this would be necessary for the user adding markers to the map, for example) Obviously I could create a db layer on my server, but am looking for a 'cloud' solution that removes the strain from my databases!!

I have 4 dropdowns and a repeater in the page.based on the selection(search criteria) from the dropdowns the repeater value will change. and one dropdown selection will bind values to the other dropdown also. Since the page is causing a lot of postback we decided to implement ajax here. I am yet to learn ajax. Can anyone tell what is the best way to do this .which ajax control replace dropdowns? i have already server side code written on all dropdowns. • Coda Clips for Vim

  I'm currently trying to switch from Coda (a Mac IDE) to Vim. One thing I loved about Coda and my knowledge of Vim cannot replace were the so-called "clips". Basically, you type, say, "new", press TAB, and the text is replaced with a basic XHTML page. And you can add as many keyword/clips combinations as you want. The most I could get with Vim so far was to create a new file containing my clip, and then use :r FILE in Vim in order to get it inserted, but this is not a very elegant solution, as I'd have to carry these clips around in every directory I have a file I want to use my clips with. So assuming I've explained things properly, what would be my choices?

• R: Creating Custom Shapes with ggplot

(I'll update if I receive a response) I'm a bit lost on this one, I've tried messing around with geom_polygon but successive attempts seem worse than the previous. The image that I'm trying to recreate is this, the colours are unimportant, but the positions are: In addition to creating this, I also need to be able to label each element with text. At this point, I'm not expecting a solution (although that would be ideal) but pointers or similar examples would be immensely helpful. One option that I played with was hacking scale_shape and using 1,1 as coords. But was stuck with being able to add labels. The reason I'm doing this with ggplot, is because I'm generating scorecards on a company by company basis. This is only one plot in a 4 x 10 grid of other plots (using pushViewport) Note: The top tier of the pyramid could also be a rectangle of similar size.

  Firstly I understand OpenId is for authentication and OAuth is for authorisation and unlike other questions on the site I am not asking which should be used for which but if anyone can advise a solution for my issue. I want to allow users to login to my site via their LinkedIn/Twitter/Facebook account once logged in say via LinkedIn they could also then authorise their Twitter and Facebook account as a optional login method. This would allow the user to authenticate via any of the three but end up with their user account on my site as the end result. I also want to use the authorisation they have provided to get basic user details (profile pic/name etc) and post status updates. I don't want to ask a user to login with their account via openId then have to authorise the same account again via oauth to allow my site to publish to their service feed and have to do this for each of the 3 services. • Finding words strictly starting with $, Regex C#

  I need to find all matches of word which strictly begins with "$" and contains only digits. So I wrote [$]\d+ which gave me 4 matches for $10 $10 $20a a$20 so I thought of using word boundaries using \b: [$]\d+\b But it again matched a$20 for me. I tried \b[$]\d+\b but I failed. I'm looking for saying, ACCEPT ONLY IF THE WORD STARTS WITH $ and is followed by DIGITS. How do I tell IT STARTS WITH $, because I think \b is making it assume word boundaries which means surrounded inside alphanumeric characters. What is the solution?

• Need some serious help with self join issue.

  Well as you may know, you cannot index a view with a self join. Well actually even two joins of the same table, even if it's not technically a self join. A couple of guys from microsoft came up with a work around. But it's so complicated I don't understand it!!! • Redirect away from HTTPS with ASP.NET MVC App

  I'm using ASP.NET MVC 2 and have a login page that is secured via HTTPS. To ensure that the user always accesses those pages via SSL, I've added the attribute [RequiresHttps] to the controller. This does the job perfectly. When they have successfully logged in, I'd like to redirect them back to HTTP version. However, there isn't a [RequiresHttp] attribute and I'm struggling to get my head around how I might achieve this. The added (potential) complication is that the website when in production is hosted at the route of the domain, but for development and testing purposes it is within a sub directory / virtual directory / application. Am I over-thinking this and is there an easy solution staring me in the face? Or is it a little more complex?
