    Hi, Currently I am creating a TestCase for one work flow and a workflow have different steps. Visual Studio 2010 complains that " the type or namespace 'telephone2010DataSetTableAdapter' could not be found." I created a new solution. I right clicked the solution name and selected "Add Existing Item" and located my Microsoft Access DB file. I followed the wizard and it setup the necessary XSD files. I started coding and I got this message. I did a little google-ing and I cant figure it out. This is a WPF application created with Visual Studio 2010.

  • Any tools or techniques for validating constraints programmatically between databases?

    If you had two databases, that had two tables between them that would normally implement a one to one (or many to many) constraint but cannot since they are separate databases, how would you validate this relationship in an application or test? Is there a simple way to do this? For example, a tool or technique that can, given a constraint type, tables and fields, does the validation. I imagine that this isn't the first time this come up so I'm hoping people can share their solution. Thanks.

  • What's your favorite cross domain cookie sharing approach?

    I see iframe/p3p trick is the most popular one around, but I personally don't like it because javascript + hidden fields + frame really make it look like a hack job. I've also come across a master-slave approach using web service to communicate (http://www.15seconds.com/issue/971108.htm) and it seems better because it's transparent to the user and it's robust against different browsers. Is there any better approaches, and what are the pros and cons of each?

How can I make the state/province field a drop down list if the selected country is united states and a free form text box if the country is anything else? How can I do that without calling the constructor in a loop for 1000 times? Since I am trying to avoid switching the DataContext on/off so frequently that may stress the database. TIA.

  • A basic animation not showing up

    I still try different basics with android, and now I'm stuck with animation. I'm trying to implement a simple animation. I've defined animation in xml file like this: alpha android:interpolator="@android:anim/accelerate_interpolator" android:fromAlpha="0.0" android:toAlpha="1.0" duration="3000" repeatCount="infinite" In my main view group I have an ImageView defined like this: <ImageView android:id="@+id/someb" android:src="@drawable/earth_normal" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dip"/> And this is from my starting activity class: public class Ohayou extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); ImageView earth = (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.someb); Animation earthFadeInAnimation = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(this, R.anim.fade_in); earth.startAnimation(earthFadeInAnimation); } It finds ImageView successfuly and creates animation. but when I start emulator ImageView just shows the original src image, not an animation.     I am using hibernate for Java, and I want to be able to select users by id or by name from the database. Nice thing about Hibernate is that it caches the result by id, but I seem to be unable to make it cache by name. static Session openSession = Factory.openSession(); public static User GetUser(int Id) { return (User) openSession.get(User.class, new Integer(Id)); } public static User GetUser( String Name ){ return (User) openSession.createCriteria( User.class ). add( Restrictions.eq("username", Name) ). uniqueResult(); } If I use GetUser(1) many times, hibernate will only show that it executed the first time. But every time I use GetUser("user1"), hibernate shows that it is executing a new query to database. What would be the best way to have the string identifier be cached also?

    I have a table DEAL and a table DEAL_TYPE. I would like to map this code: public class Deal { DealType type; } public enum DealType { BASE("Base"), EXTRA("Extra"); } The problem is that the data already exist in the database. And I'm having a hard time mapping the classes to the database. The database looks something like that: TABLE DEAL { Long id; Long typeId; } TABLE DEAL_TYPE { Long id; String text; } I know I could use a simple @OneToMany relationship from deal to deal type, but I would prefer to use an enum. Is this possible? I almost got it working by using a EnumType.ORDINAL type. But unfortunately, my IDs in my deal type table are not sequential, and do not start at 1. Any suggestions?

    i see after installing the asp.net membership tables, they use the data type "uniqueidentifier" for all of the primary key fields. I have been using "int" data type and doing increment by one on inserts. Is there any particular benefits to using the uniqueIdentifier data type compared to my current model of using int and auto increments on new inserts ?

  • Connecting data to a GUI - OOP

    I have an application with several graphs and tables on it. I worked fast and just made classes like Graph and Table that each contained a request object (pseudo-code): class Graph { private request; public function setDateRange(dateRange) { request.setDateRange(dateRange); } public function refresh() { request.getData(function() { //refresh the display }); } } Upon a GUI event (say, someone changes the date range dropdown), I'd just call the setters on the Graph instance and then refresh it. Well, when I added other GUI elements like tables and whatnot, they all basically had similar methods (setDateRange and other things common to the request). What are some more elegant OOP ways of doing this? The application is very simple and I don't want to over-architect it, but I also don't want to have a bunch of classes with basically the same methods that are just routing to a request object. I also don't want to set up each GUI class as inheriting from the request class, but I'm open to any ideas really.

  • How to return an enum ID instead of the enum text in WebAPI

    I am using the WebAPI with .NET 4.5. I have a enum called DareStatus which is a list of statuses and their corresponding integer ID's. To minimize bandwidth traffic I want to send the int values of the enums, not the full text as it is currently doing. (I have control over the client so I can map it on the clientside). The request /Shipments/3/Packages works great. The request /Shipments/3 however fails with the error: Multiple actions were found that match the request: System.Linq.IQueryable`1[Api.Controllers.RequisitionsController+PackageRequisitionWithTracking] GetPackageRequisitions(Int32) on type Api.Controllers.RequisitionsController Api.Models.ShipmentRequisition GetShipmentRequisitions(Int32) on type Api.Controllers.RequisitionsController It can't seem to differentiate between: public ShipmentRequisition GetShipmentRequisitions(int id) and [ActionName("Packages")] public IQueryable<PackageRequisitionWithTracking> GetPackageRequisitions(int id) I would have thought the lack of action name on the get shipment by id would allow that route to work.

  • Multiple windows services in a single project = mystery

    I'm having a bizarre issue that I haven't seen before and I'm thinking it MUST be something simple that I'm not seeing in my code. I have a project with 2 windows services defined. One I've called DataSyncService, the other SubscriptionService. Both are added to the same project installer. Both use a timer control from System.Timers. If I start both services together, they seem to work fine. The timers elapse at the appropriate time and everything looks okay. However, if I start either service individually, leaving the other stopped, everything goes haywire. The timer elapses constantly and on the wrong service. In other words, if I start the DataSyncService, the SubscriptionService timer elapses over and over. ...which is obviously strange. The setup is similar to what I've done in the past so I'm really stumped. I even tried deleting both service and starting over but it doesn't seem to make a difference. At this point, I'm thinking I've made a simple error in the way I'm defining the services and my brain just won't let me see it. It must be creating some sort of threading issue that causes one service to race when the other is stopped. Here the code....     Hi all, I have a simple class library written in c#. using System; namespace TestDll { public class Test { public string HelloWorld { get { return "Hello World"; } } } } My question is how can I call this HelloWorld function from Microsoft Office Visual Basic (which I think is VB6)? My first step was to add the DLL as a reference - but on browsing and selecting the compiled DLL the message "Can't add a reference to the specified file." was thrown. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to why/how to get this working? Thanks in advance SO!
