  • How to correct the objection about dymanic Object type by FlexPMD?

    I have the code in one of my flex file used as labelFunction in a DataGrid. When I run the FlexPMD to do the code review , it generates objection about the dynamic type object used in method signature "public function getFormattedCreatedTime(item:Object, column:DataGridColumn):String", it suggests to use strongly type object.   • Disabling repeating keyboard down event in as3

    now I'm trying to make the keyboard events to stop repeating.     I just started using Swiz, and, it seems like Swiz forces you to create classes with weak encapsulation. Swiz requires all event handlers to be public in order to mediate events. Assume that component 'A' dispatches a few events, which I want to listen to in component 'B'. Traditionally, I'll just add event listeners on 'A' in 'B' and all the event handlers in 'B' can be kept private. However, if, I am using Swiz, I need to make all the handlers, mediating events, public. Am I missing something here, is there a way to bypass this problem. I really, don't want to pollute the public interface of my class. Thanks.

    Hi, I'm trying to load a local SWF file and use the classes in that SWF (its a code only SWF, nothing in library). Here's the code that loads the library: var AD:ApplicationDomain = ApplicationDomain.currentDomain; var context:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(false, AD); SA_gamecore_loader = new Loader(); SA_gamecore_loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onGameCoreLibraryDataComplete); SA_gamecore_loader.load(new URLRequest("GameCore.swf"), context); Here's the code that tries to instantiate a class from GameCore.swf: var test:Class = GetClassFromDefinition("MenuArt") as Class; var testInstance:Object = new test(); public function GetClassFromDefinition(theStr:String):Object { var theClass:Object; try { theClass = GameCoreLibraryData.applicationDomain.getDefinition(theStr); } catch(e:ReferenceError) { trace(e); return null; } return theClass; } And this is the message that's traced: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable MenuArt is not defined. The GameCore.swf is in the same location as the parent swf. I'm using Flash Develop if that helps. Anyone able to point out what I'm doing wrong?

  • RadioButtonGroup with each RadioButton added in components?

    Hi, Working in Flex 3, I have a series of components being rendered on a canvas, each of which should represent a single potential selection, ideally in a RadioButtonGroup. So in my parent canvas I am defining the RadioButtonGroup, and each component provides a single RadioButton. However, this doesn't seem to work. Suppose there is a component called aComponent defined as such: <mx:Canvas ...> ... <mx:RadioButton id="someButton" groupName="myRadioButtonGroup" ... /> </mx:Canvas> The outer canvas: <mx:Canvas ...> ... <mx:Script> public function doesSomething():void { var myComponent:aComponent = new aComponent(); outerCanvas.addChild(myComponent); } </mx:Script> ... <mx:RadioButtonGroup id="myRadioButtonGroup" /> </mx:Canvas> So my guess was that at this point if, say, four of these components were added, the radio buttons would behave in mutually exclusive fashion and I'd be able to access myRadioButtonGroup.selectedValue to get the current selection. However, it doesn't seem to work that way. Is what I'm trying to do even possible, or have I maybe just missed something? Thanks!

    ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. so i have a function that runs in state1 and has a while(myCanvas.rawChildren.numChildren > 0){ myCanvas.rawChildren.removeChildAt(0); } //this code is definitely the problem.... I can move to state2, but when I move back to state1 i get the error. why? the function that has the while loop only runs when something is searched in state1, so why is it running when coming back from state2?

    Hi everyone, I'm creating a website that allows kids to designs a tshirt. I will have four section, colour, graphic, text and print. I have created these sections on demos and they are all working. I now need to properly create them all on one movie clip. I'm having problems with it, when i select the chosen tshirt colour and move onto the graphic section the shirt is white again and hasnt came through blue. Its the same for every section, when I select a grahic they dont come through either etc when I click the next button it refreshs the page. Does anyone know how to create this kind of design on one movie clip using different frames and so that the colour etc transfers onto each new page? PLEASE HELP!!!

    I'm trying to dynamically stack images that are being pulled in via an xml file. Below is what I'm doing, and it almost works. The problem is that it only seems to fire off the event complete function on the very last one, instead of going for all of them.   • Force Decimal Regex

    Hi, I'm looking for a regex or a way to format the NumberValidator so that only decimal places are allowed. The domain="real" allows you to put integer values, but I need to force the user to but in 2.0 if they want an integer. This is because they pass through a Castor mapping file, it complains if it gets an integer when it expects a decimal. I dont want to restrict the number of decimal places, just insist that there must be a point, and a number after it. Any help would be much appreciated.

    I'm doing an application that puts tons of sprites on the screen in random position, like throwing cards on a table, but after a while it starts to drop the fps, because all the sprites still there. What I would like to do is adding the sprites but like an image, what's behind isn't stored.   • GetBytes Issue in Loading External Flash

    I'm trying to debug a gallery section within a site of mine. Currently the section display a number of thumbnails which visitor select one to view. Once selected, the main flash loads in an external swf. To make the process smoother, I have a preloader for this process using normal getbytes codes. However for some reasons, the flash works fine in IE but not in Firefox or Chrome. In these browsers, as soon as you click the thumbnail, the preloader animated away to reveal the holder of the external swf. However as it is still loading, the holder is a blank area. Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light on why this is so.

    I am working on a tree component and I am having a bit of the issue with populating the data-provider for this tree. The data that I get back from my database is a simple array of value objects. Each value object has 2 properties. ObjectID and ParentID. For parents the ParentID is null and for children the ParentID is the ObjectID of the parent. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.     I'm trying to optimize a site I'm building with Django/Flash and am having a problem using Django's iterate over chunks() feature. I'm sending an image from Flash to Django using request.POST data rather than through a form (using request.FILES). The problem I foresee is that if there is large user volume, I could potentially kill memory. But it seems that Django only allows iterating over chunks with request.FILES. Is there a way to: 1) wrap my request.POST data into a request.FILES (thus spoofing Django) or 2) use chunks() with request.POST data

    I've been stuck with the math in a Flash project? It's a loose design pattern my director formulated. My goal is to keep the project object oriented, and get 'non Flash obstacles' off my plate. Do you recommend using parsing engines for processing math? XML values going to AS3, updating a changing acceleration formula. I don't hate math, but it just doesn't seem OOP or good project planning to have the math stuck in Flash. Your comments are welcome.

    Is there a way to break the line in a line-chart, if the gap between 2 values on the x axis is bigger then a given value? For example there are 20 values but the first 13 are close to each other on the x axis and should be connected with a line, but the other 7 are a bit far from these and should be connected with another line.
