  • Getting HTMLUnknownElement with jQuery.find() and an XML Document

    - by Tom
I'm attempting to load up an XML document (specifically an RSS feed) via an Ajax request, parse it, and insert some information based on said feed into my page. The code works fine in Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari, but not IE7. Go figure. After doing some initial debugging, I've found that the XML string is being retrieved via the request, and the specific node type I'm getting when trying to parse nodes out of the document is HTMLUnknownElement. Here's the relevant code: $.get('feed.php', function(oXmlDoc) { var titles = $(oXmlDoc).find('title'); var dates = $(oXmlDoc).find('pubDate'); for(var i = 0; i < 5; i++) { parseNodes(titles[i].firstChild.nodeValue, dates[i].firstChild.nodeValue)); } }); The parseNodes function is never actually being hit because IE cannot access firstChild and, consequently, nodeValue. Thanks in advance for any ideas and/or suggestions on how to address this.

  • How to add attributes to a HTML element in a valid way?

    - by Click Upvote
I want to be able to add an attribute to a HTML element to be able to identify what its referring to. E.g if I have a list of names and a checkbox next to each name, like this: <div id="users"> Bob smith <input type=checkbox /> </div> And when a checkbox is clicked and the event handler function for it is called, I want to be able to identify which user was selected/unselected. Ideally I'm looking for something like this: <input type=checkbox data-userId = "xxx" /> Then when its clicked: function handleClick() { var userId = $(this).attr('data-userId'); } However I'm looking to do this in a way that won't break my HTML validation, and would still be valid HTML and work in all browsers. Any suggestions?

  • jQuery/Javascript problem with IE

    - by Shadyn
I have two radio buttons each with a unique ID. When one is clicked, I would like to add $10 to a total. When the other is clicked, we go back to the original total price. My jquery looks like this: function check_ceu() { var price = <%= conference_price %>; if($('#ceu_yes').is(':checked')){ $('#total').val(parseFloat(price) + 10) } else{ $('#total').val(price) } } I have this function bound to document.ready (for page refreshes) and also the onchange handler of the radio buttons. In FF and Chrome this works fine. In IE, when the radio button with ID of "ceu_yes" is checked nothing happens, then when clicking back to the other radio button, 10 is added. So in essence, IE has the checkbox functionality reversed. Below is my code for the buttons: <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_yes" value="1" onchange="check_ceu()" /> $10 <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_no" value="0" checked="checked" onchange="check_ceu()" /> No, thank you Any ideas on this?

  • Replacing Text in a Toggled Anchor with JQuery

    - by willmcneilly
    Hi I'm trying to change the text in an anchor on toggle. I'm doing this way at the moment but have found that once the anchor markup has replaced the toggle no longer works. Can someone please explain why this is happening and a solution? Many thanks. $('a#toggleHeader').toggle(function() { $('#header-wrapper').slideUp(); $(this).replaceWith('< href=\"#\" id="toggleHeader">Show Header</>'); //Note:I've move the anchor because I can only post one anchor as a new user },function(){ $('#header-wrapper').slideDown(); $(this).replaceWith('<a href=\"#\" id="toggleHeader">Hide Header</a>'); });

  • Replace Emails and HREFS with enclosing HREFS in C#

    - by Nissan Fan
I have an Email body that used to be plain text, but now I've made it HTML. The emails are generated using a number of methods and none of them are easy to convert. What I have is: Some content [email protected], some http://www.somewebsite/someurl.aspx. What I'd like to do is create a function that automatically encloses all email addresses and all URLs withing a string in HREF tags so that the HTML email reads properly in all email clients. Does anyone have a function for this?

  • Add method to Array in Javascript

    - by user1167650
Is it possible to add a method to an array() in javascript? (I know about prototypes, but I don't want to add a method to every array, just one in particular). The reason I want to do this is because I have the following code function drawChart() { //... return [list of important vars] } function updateChart(importantVars) { //... } var importantVars = drawChart(); updateChart(importantVars); And I want to be able to do something like this instead: var chart = drawChart();<br> chart.redraw(); I was hoping there was a way I could just attach a method to what i'm returning in drawChart(). Any way to do that?

  • movedown method not saving new position - cakephp tree

    - by Ryan
Hi everyone, I am experiencing a problem that has popped up recently and is causing quite a bit of trouble for our system. The app we have relies on using the movedown method to organize content, but as of late it has stopped working and began to generate the following warning: Warning (2): array_values() [<a href='function.array-values'>function.array-values</a>]: The argument should be an array in [/usr/local/home/cake/cake_0_2_9/cake/libs/model/behaviors/tree.php, line 459] The line being referenced: list($node) = array_values($Model->find('first', array( 'conditions' => array($scope, $Model->escapeField() => $id), 'fields' => array($Model->primaryKey, $left, $right, $parent), 'recursive' => $recursive ))); The line calling the method: $this->movedown($id,abs((int)$position)); I have exhausted every idea I could come up with. Has anyone else crossed this issue before? Any help, or pointing in a direction would be much appreciated!

  • Explode URL Query String Issue

    - by Ian McAbee
PHP newbie here.. I am trying to create a function where the user is redirected back to the previous page after adding an item to their cart. However, when they are redirected back with the code below it leaves a duplicate of the directory (ie. example.com/catalog/garden-tools/garden-tools function custom_add_to_cart_redirect() { $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'] = parse_url($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], PHP_URL_PATH); $url = explode('/', rtrim($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'], '/')); return $url[3]; } A print_r reveals the following: Array ( [0] => [1] => thefarmshop [2] => catalog [3] => garden-tools [4] => gardening-glove ) What could the issue be?

  • Do I need to declare all my JQuery prototypes in a JQueryStatic definition file with typescript?

    - by Marilou
I have the following code: ///<reference path="../typescript/jquery.d.ts" /> function addThemePrototypes() { var templateSetup = new Array(); $.fn.addTemplateSetup = function(func, prioritary) { if (prioritary) { templateSetup.unshift(func); } else { templateSetup.push(func); } }; } When I try to add the following: $('a').addTemplateSetup( Into this same file I notice there is no intellisense and typescript does not seem to know about the addTemplateSetup prototype that I just added. Is this the correct way for it to work or do I always need to add things like the definition for addTemplateSetup to an JQueryStatic definition file and then include that?

  • Is this a good approach to dealing with tagging?

    - by Mel
Can this code be optimized or re-factored? Is this an optimal approach to tagging? The following code is a callback in my posts model. It creates a record that associates a tag with a post in a QuestionsTags joiner table. When necessary, if a given tag does not already exist in the tags table, the function creates it, then uses its id to create the new record in the QuestionsTags table. The difficulty with this approach is the QuestionsTags table depends on data in the tags table which may or may not exist. The function assumes the following tables: tags(id, tagName), posts(tags) // Comma delimited list questionsTags(postId, tagId) The idea is to loop over a delimited list of tags submitted with a post and check to see if each tag already exists in the tags table If tag exists: Check to see if there's already a QuestionTag record for this post and this tag in the QuestionTags table. If yes, do nothing (the association already exists) If no, create a new QuestionTag record using the id of the existing tag and the postId If tag does not already exist: Create the new tag in the tags table Use its id to create a new QuestionsTags record Code /** * @hint Sets tags for a given question. **/ private function setTags() { // Loop over the comma and space delmited list of tags for (local.i = 1; local.i LTE ListLen(this.tags, ", "); local.i = (local.i + 1)) { // Check if the tag already exists in the database local.tag = model("tag").findOneByTagName(local.i); // If the tag exists, look for an existing association between the tag and the question in the QuestionTag table if (IsObject(local.tag)) { local.questionTag = model("questionTag").findOneByPostIdAndTagId(values="#this.postId#,#local.tag.id#"); // If no assciatione exists, create a new QuestionTag record using the tagId and the postId if (! IsObject(local.questionTag)) { local.newQuestionTag = model("questionTag").new(postId = this.id, tagId = local.tag.id); // Abort if the saving the new QuestionTag is unsuccesful if (! local.newQuestionTag.save()) { return false; } } } // If the tag does not exist create it else { local.newTag = model("tag").new(tagName = local.i, userId = this.ownerUserId); // Abort if the the new tag is not saved successfully if (! local.newTag.save()) { return false; } // Otherwise create a new association in the QuestionTags table using the id of the newly created tag and the postId local.newQuestionTag = model("questionTag").new(postId = this.id, tagId = local.newTag.id); // Abort if the new QuestionTag does not save correctly if (! local.newQuestionTag.save()) { return false; } } } } FYI: I'm using CFWheels in my application, which explains the ORM functions used.

  • dynamically build Intersect statement ASP.NET

    - by TDDG
I would like to use the IEnumerable function Intersect() to combine a few list and get the similar integers from each list. The problem I'm faced with is that I don't know how many list I will need to compare. Here is an example: A{1,2,3,4} B{1,2,3} C{1,2} results = A.Intersect(B).Intersect(C) This works great, but the next time around I may have a D{1,2} next time I come across the function. I'd like to use the Intersect method, but I'm open to new ideas as well.

  • Multible jquery .load() methods not running concurrently in MVC 2

    - by Boob
In one of my aspx pages i have something like this in the head: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { // Jquery stuff loadStuff(); }); function loadStuff() { $('#result1').load({ source: url }); $('#result2').load({ source: url }); $('#result3').load({ source: url }); }; </script> The idea being that as the page is being displayed these loads will populate the specified divs with results from different webservices as and when the info becomes available. My problem is that this requests are being queued and being sent one at a time. However I want these to be sent at the same time and whichever returns first gets displayed first! Also if I try to kick off another request while these divs are loading the request seems to get queued after the others. How do I make these requests concurrent instead of queued? Thanks

  • Get next key-value pair in an object

    - by captainclam
So, given a key, I want to find the next property in an object. Then, I want to return the value of the NEXT property. I can not rely on the keys to be ordered or sequential (they're uuids). Please see below for trivial example of what I want: var db ={ a: 1, b: 2, c: 3 } var next = function(db, key) { // ??? } next(db, 'a'); // I want 2 next(db, 'b'); // I want 3 I also want a prev() function, but I'm sure it will be the same solution. This seems like such a trivial problem but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. Happy for the solution to use underscore.js or be written in coffeescript :)

  • HandsOnTable - using date functions with methods

    - by briansol
I have a function used on the datepicker to limit dates selected to the first of the month... I invoke it by setting a class and listener, such as: $( ".datepickfom" ).datepicker( { beforeShowDay: fom, showOn: "both", buttonImage: "/images/calendar.png", buttonImageOnly: true, changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, dateFormat: "m/d/yy", yearRange: "-25:+100", constrainInput: true } ); the fom call: function fom(date){ if (date.getDate() != 1) { return [false, "", "Specify 1st of Month"]; } return [true, ""]; } This works great for regular forms. I'm looking to extend this functionality to the HandsOnTable 'date' cell data types. var $container_1 = $("#datatable_1"); var handsontable_1 = $container_1.data('handsontable'); $("#datatable_1").handsontable( { columns: [ {}, {}, { type: 'date', dateFormat: 'm/d/yy' }, {}, { type: 'dropdown', source: ["","Y","N"] }, {}, {} ] }); This also works as it should, but the date lets me pick other dates besides the first. Is there a way to attach the beforeShowDay option to the HOT cell call as well?

  • jQuery catch img

    - by Happy
We have a script used for each .item: $(".item").each(function(){ item_link = "http://..."; block = $('.block', this); $.get(item_link, function(data) { var src = $('img.slide', data).attr('src'); block.html(src); }); }); item_link variable is uniquie for each query. There can be 100 .item or more. The problem is - server has limit on connections at the same time, that why some .item get var src, some not. The best solution is to use just one .get at the same time. I think there should be some counter, if .get is finished - it gives message "I'm finished, you can start" to the next .get and so on. How to do that? Thanks.

  • MySql php: check if Row exists

    - by Jeff
This is probably an easy thing to do but I'm an amateur and things just aren't working for me. I just want to check and see if a row exists where the $lectureName shows. If a row does exist with the $lectureName somewhere in it, I want the function to return "assigned" if not then it should return "available". Here's what I have. I'm fairly sure its a mess. Please help. function checkLectureStatus($lectureName) { $con = connectvar(); mysql_select_db("mydatabase", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM preditors_assigned WHERE lecture_name='$lectureName'"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)); { if (!$row[$lectureName] == $lectureName) { mysql_close($con); return "Available"; } else { mysql_close($con); return "Assigned"; } } When I do this everything return available, even when it should return assigned.

  • How do I Capture native (Menu) button presses in PhoneGap?

    - by Dinedal
By calling "BackButton.override();" and then hooking on to the backKeyDown event, I am able to get the back button press to register. But there doesn't appear to be a "MenuButton.override();" Also, hooking on the menuKeyDown doesn't register a button press. Here's my (non-functional) code. What am I missing? <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="phonegap.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> document.addEventListener("deviceready", function() { alert('initialized'); }, false); document.addEventListener("menuKeyDown", function() { alert('menu_pressed'); // Never happens }, false); </script>

  • Any good idioms for error handling in straight C programs?

    - by Will Hartung
Getting back in to some C work. Many of my functions look like this: int err = do_something(arg1, arg2, arg3, &result); With the intent the result gets populated by the function, and the return value is the status of the call. The darkside is you get something naive like this: int err = func1(...); if (!err) { err = func2(...); if (!err) { err = func3(...); } } return err; I could macro it I suppose: #define ERR(x) if (!err) { err = (x) } int err = 0; ERR(func1(...)); ERR(func2(...)); ERR(func3(...)); return err; But that only works if I'm chaining function calls, vs doing other work. Obviously Java, C#, C++ have exceptions that work very well for these kinds of things. I'm just curious what other folks do and how other folks do error handling in their C programs nowadays.
