• Android game development in c++

  So being a primarily c/c++ developer, I've always thought that the only option for mobile game development for me was using iOS, which allows for c/c++ (and minimising objective C). I heard from a friend though, that android has a native development toolkit which allows for c++ code to work on android. Has anyone used this, and if so, how do you find it? I mean, will it "just work" like iOS, or are there more considerations that need to be taken care of due to the wide variety of android devices available?

• WCF REST Error Handler

  I’ve put up on GitHub a sample WCF error handler for REST services, which returns proper HTTP status codes in response to service errors.   The code is very simple – a ServiceBehavior implementation which can be specified in config to tag the RestErrorHandler to a service. Any uncaught exceptions will be routed to the error handler, which sets the HTTP status code and description in the response, based on the type of exception.   The sample defines a ClientException which can be thrown in code to indicate a problem with the client’s request, and the response will be a status 400 with a friendly error message:       throw new ClientException("Invalid userId. Must be provided as a positive integer");   - responds:   Request URL http://localhost/Sixeyed.WcfRestErrorHandler.Sample/ErrorProneService.svc/lastLogin?userId=xyz   Error Status Code: 400, Description: Invalid userId. Must be provided as a positive integer   Any other uncaught exceptions are hidden from the client. The full details are logged with a GUID to identify the error, and the response to the client is a status 500 with a generic message giving them the GUID to follow up on:       var iUserId = 0;     var dbz = 1 / iUserId;   - logs the divide-by-zero error and responds:   Request URL http://localhost/Sixeyed.WcfRestErrorHandler.Sample/ErrorProneService.svc/dbz     Error Status Code: 500, Description: Something has gone wrong. Please contact our support team with helpdesk ID: C9C5A968-4AEA-48C7-B90A-DEC986F80DA5   The sample demonstrates two techniques for building the response. For client exceptions, a friendly HTML response is sent in the body as well as the status code and description. Personally I prefer not to do that – it doesn’t make sense to get a 400 error and find text/html when you’re expecting application/json, but it’s easy to do if that’s the functionality you want. The other option is to send an empty response, which the sample does with server exceptions.   The obvious extension is to have multiple exceptions representing all the status codes you want to provide, then your code is as simple as throwing the relevant exception – UnauthorizedException, ForbiddenExeption, NotImplementedException etc – anywhere in the stack, and it will be handled nicely.

Users aren't able to determine if they should tell Windows to use a decimal point or a comma to display numbers. So what we've done here is make sure that whatever the user enters, we'll translate that into whatever the user WANTS to enter instead of what he actually did. So if you set your locale to US, since you're a US citizen, but you want to enter the number 12.34 in the Dutch style (because, you know, the Dutch are way cooler with numbers) so you enter 12,34 we will understand this and respect your wishes! Of course, if you change your mind and in the next input field you decide to use the decimal dot again, that's fine with us as well. We will do the hard work. Now, I am all for smart software. Software that can handle all sorts of input the user can think of. But this feels a little uhm, I don't know.. wrong.. Or am I too old fashioned?

• Can Exchange be configured to populate a text/plain part of a meeting invite?

  I work in an environment where some people are using Microsoft Exchange and some people are not. The meeting invitations sent out by Exchange include a text/calendar attachment with the meeting information in iCal format. They also include an empty text/plain and an empty text/html part. Is there any way to configure Exchange such that it will populate either (or both!) the text/plain or the text/html part with a human-readable version of the meeting summary? This would help out people using mail clients that do not have native support for text/calendar attachments.

• PHP 5.2 to 5.3 not upgrading, no errors

• Doesn't work Nginx + SSI [migrated]

  I have some problems. Nginx doesn't work with SSI. Nginx listens 80 port (frontend), apache2 listens 81 port (backend).   My website has an atypical structure and I'm not sure if this could create problems in the long run, specially for SEO positioning purposes. I have a unique, large PHP script, and I use the Apache module mod_rewrite in the .htaccess file to create friendly URLs, for example: RewriteRule ^$ /index.php?section=Main RewriteRule ^createArticle$ /index.php?section=Main&view=CreateArticle RewriteRule ^configuration$ /index.php?section=Configuration RewriteRule ^article/([0-9]{1,10})$ /index.php?section=Article&view=Default&id=$1 RewriteRule ^deleteArticle/([0-9]{1,10})$ /index.php?section=Article&view=Delete&id=$1 RewriteRule ^reportArticle/([0-9]{1,10})$ /index.php?section=Article&view=Report&id=$1 RewriteRule ^logIn$ /index.php?section=Authentication ... So, www.example.com/index.php?section=Article&view=Default&id=105 would become www.example.com/article/105. The only real physical file is index.php, in which the parameters of the URL queried is processed and the corresponding result is outputted. My question is, do the crawling robots (e.g. Googlebot) recognize these links? Do they index the resulting HTML outputted by index.php with the specified parameters as if it was a actual HTML file? Also, would this become a problem when creating a Sitemap?

Is IE9 a modern browser? well Are you thing that they make something bettter then thing another that what Firefox and chrome do whenever Microsoft do this. that's point that Microsoft always blast IE because they make version upon version not upon update like Firefox make 3.6.14 after 3.6.13 and chrome give update soon as possible but IE not come soon. they will thing for making 10 instead of giving update on 9. well what they tell us new. they make fool public everytime i believe they make fool public as same as today they maked for version 9 they show developer tool in 9 have three new tabs or pael are this enough. whenever  in chrome and firefox their is many plugin who make development easier IE still have a developer tool who not have enough power like Firebug in Firefox. they show performance but forget luna user [window xp] and their IE never runs on other plateform but chrome and firefox can. no customization in IE whenever chrome and firefox have uncountable plugin and addons. show features now in IE who already implemented in firefox very early. well their is no rule that static goes right every time not sure that IE and Firefox both are right in their language. their is no one predict what thing goes better in future. so well keep a thing in mind never wasted time and also thing to make task easier even you need to use sollution opensource or closesoure inside or outside MS does not matter. well everyone tell you much more then they do even IE and some other. they never tell you this thing not in IE but in another can be found they never tell you use other whenever you need a thing and never can be found in their software. you need to more beware of IE because they make them commorcial not really for public if really then why they stop wxp user to use them as well firefox and chrome never force. because they need a thing that force more then more copy of windows sale. so they thing to add a thing in window 8. the IE9 they thing to make before that they thing to make  this for windows 8. they always force user to purchase this for this. this for this. and this trick sell their software. well outside MS Mozilla and Chrome all behave better with user and their feedback. they respect user their privacy and feedback. if you not believe that how much problem you found in IE and they got solved soon as in chrome and firefox bug kill soon. because IE not opensource we need to  boycutt them secondly their is no customization then they make user task easier even with twitter and facebook.

  I am not a web developer - this would be my first foray. I can do HTML/CSS/Javascript, but never created a website for a company. If anybody is creating a site for small company (expecting some 10-15 static pages), what kinda things would it need to have? I am thinking of the following: Make the eventual owner buy in his/her name: Domain name, Web Hosting package and Email package. Q - DO Web Developers generally ask their clients to buy this stuff and then ask them to share their passwords? OR - Do Web Developers ship the source files to clients so that they can upload it? Create Cross Browser compatible HTML+CSS+javascript pages Add SEO stuff like Meta tags and xml file for crawler Buy professional images from stock website Q - IS there is a best-practice for this step? Add Copyright stuff. Q - ANY idea about how to do this? Add Faceboook widgets, so people can 'like' my website. Register website somewhere so that its searchable from multiple search-engine/yellopages. Q - DOES such a thing exist? Please check my checklist :) and let me know what you think could be missing? • PHP 5 will not work in Centos 6 for me

  Just created a new install of Centos 6.0 64-bit on a virtual machine and running on Vmware workstation 8, windows host. yum install php service httpd restart And when trying to run a html file from the var\www\html dir which just has <?php phpinfo(); ?> in it or pointing browser to localhost. Nothing comes up. Also opened up httpd.conf and added: AddType application/x-httpd-php .php AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps Tried reinstalling, installing php-common, then php etc. to no avail. Otherwise going for the typical LAMP. installed: php.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates php-cli.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates php-common.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates Yet to update to Centos 6.1 PHP5 is probably comes installed by default with Centos and I maybe stuffed it up by running yum install php?

• Javascript is not loading

  Hey, I've got a problem with JavaScript under Ubuntu, that drives me crazy. I'm using Gedit for my web sites since I'm an Ubuntu user. When I start a new website I create (usually with the gnome terminal) folder structure, and I copy the files I need into them. The next step is creating an index.html where I build the design and basic JavaScript functionality. JavaScript is stored in a sub-folder of the project and when i try to load one using the tag in the header, my whole page body disappears. If the source contains a script tag with its own body, and its not the first its code wont run. I've tried to solve the problem by setting chmod to 777 with sudo chmod -R 777 . but nothing changed. CSS is loading correctly, but JS isn't. I'm using the newest version of apache, no mod_rewrite stuff, but i get the same problem when I run the html from file (file:///...) Do anyone know how to solve this problem?

• Rsync : execute permission required

  I'm using rsync between two servers to transfer files. The problem is some files are not transferred. I get this error : rsync: readlink "/var/www/index.html" failed: Permission denied (13) So I check permissions on the server and after make tests, I notice a file is transferred only if it has these permissions : R-W ! If the file have these permissions : R--, Rsync can't download it !? Command: /usr/bin/rsync -avzr -e "/usr/bin/ssh -i /home/replication/thishost-rsync-key" [email protected]:/var/www/index.html ./ Is it a bug with Rsync ? I find any information about this problem.
