• upgrade:upgradation failed,13.10 issue

  I was upgrading 13.04 to 13.10.And suddenly it hanged and upper part of the screen went black. So I stopped the upgradation and unfortunately I forcefully shutdown.But its already upgraded to 13.10(I feel upgradation is not complete though) Problems The desktop flickers now and sometimes the screen turns black. Sound stopped.No sound output detected in sound settings.And the shutdown button also not working. Is there a way to upgrade it again to 13.10(completely)?

• asp.net free webcontrol to display matrix reports with column and row grouping, subtotals and totals

  Hello, I want to develop some kind of reports in Asp.net with x-axis and y-axis being dynamics, allowing grouping by row and column, for example: have products in y-axis and date in x-axis having in body number of sells of a given product in a given date, if date in x-axis are years, i want subtotals for each month for a product (row) and subtotals of sells of all products in date (column) I know there are products available to build reports, but i am using Mysql, so Reporting Service is not an option. It's not necessary for the client build additional reports, i think the simplest solution is having a control to display such information and not using crystal report (which is not free) or something more complex, i want to know if is there an available free control to reach my goal. Well, does anybody know a control or have a different idea, thanks in advance.

• Interim Patches for CVE-2011-4313 released through MOS

  As reported on the article on the Sun Security Blog, interim patches are available for Solaris 8,9 and 10 directly from MOS without the need to log a Service Request. There is also Interim Relief available for Solaris 11, but at this point in time that will still require a Service Request. As seen from running "named -V", these patches implement the same fix as ISC by taking Bind to the version:BIND 9.6-ESV-R5-P1.

• Methodology to understanding JQuery plugin & API's developed by third parties

  I have a question about third party created JQuery plug ins and API's and the methodology for understanding them. Recently I downloaded the JQuery Masonry/Infinite scroll plug in and I couldn't figure out how to configure it based on the instructions. So I downloaded a fully developed demo, then manually deleted everything that wouldn't break the functionality. The code that was left allowed me to understand the plug in much greater detail than the documentation. I'm now having a similar issue with a plug in called JQuery knob. http://anthonyterrien.com/knob/ If you look at the JQuery Knob readme file it says this is working code: $(function() { $('.dial') .trigger( 'configure', { "min":10, "max":40, "fgColor":"#FF0000", "skin":"tron", "cursor":true } ); }); But as far as I can tell it isn't at all. The read me also says the Plug in uses Canvas. I am wondering if I am suppose to wrap this code in a canvas context or if this functionality is already part of the plug in. I know this kind of "question" might not fit in here but I'm a bit confused on the assumptions around reading these kinds of documentation and thought I would post the query regardless. The architecture is currently like this: Web Application -- calls a class that does the upload For example, in default.aspx, I call : FileHelper fh = new FileHelper() fh.MoveFiles(file) I have an Ajax control that fires when the above is called. This is a control that resides on the website class/project. How do I update the progress counter from the Filehelper class?   Recently I use data binding to speed up my development of C# winforms application. But I found that data binding is just useful when the control is Textbox or textare and text kind of controls. If things come to be radio button, image control or datagridview, it's hard for me to use data binding. For example, it's hard for me to bind a group of radio button to a database field. It's hard for me to pre-process the data in database and then bind to datagridview control(I know I can use view to do this, but it is not that convenient) So I really want to know, most of you guys when will use data binding? • Instantiate ItemsPanelTemplate

  I'm trying to create a ItemsControl that has a separator between items, for example a control to create a navigation bread crumb. I want the control to be completely generic. My original method was to create extend ItemsControl, add a SeparatorTemplate property, and then have the class add separators to the ItemsHost of the ItemsControl. The problem with this approach is that if you add extra items to the container panel, the ItemGenerator gets confused and the items are out of order and don't get removed correctly. So my second plan was to create a completely new control that would emulate an ItemsControl, but the problem I'm running into is that I can't find a way to instantiate an ItemsPanelTemplate. I would like to provide an ItemsPanel property just like ItemsControl, but I can't then create a panel from that template. Can anyone think of a way to either instantiate an ItemsPanelTemplate or way to add controls to an ItemsControl's panel without breaking the ItemGenerator?

  I have several custom controls (some kind of frames for content and layout management, like wrap panel), and would like to write unit tests for them. It's hard to find any good examples except Silverlight control toolkit, which has some helper classes to do unit tests and it's quite complicated. For MVVM classes it's easy to write tests because they don't use SL dependency system and infrastructure. Questions: how to unit test DepedenyProperty, what do I need to test how to test attached property do I test bindings with theme or UserControl, like simple textblock content binding, or command/event binding in MVVM with UserControl what else do I test in my custom controls, beside my business logic any good tutorial to achieve tests like those in control toolkit How do I start? Is SL controls toolkit only option for learning? For testing framework i'm using one from control toolkit, and for continuus integration on TFS build server I planned to use Statlight (from codeplex). Any advice on that?

• Passing in a value to a usercontrol through a foreach loop

  in my asp.net mark up I have a foreach loop that iterates through a simple list. In this foreach loop I am adding a new user control and attempting to pass in the value from the loop. However, this value just wont budge and get inside that damn control! • Evince 3.10 with menubar

  I find that the 2 buttoms menu from the evince v3.10.0 are not really useful. Why did ubuntu NOT re add an menubar?. It would have been looking better in unity ! The unity top panel has enough space for an normal program menu. Here is an screenshot of what i mean: (The program works already in ubuntu 13.10 with unity or cinnamon fine. • why message box is always hidden behind main dialog and cannot be shown on the top

  I am using MFC to write a GUI application. I chose dialog-based application, and put picture control, edit box and buttons on it. When the picture control is mapped to the class derived from CWnd using DDX_Control, all the message boxes (including default system message box pop up when you enter invalid input in the edit box) are hidden behind main dialog until you use "alt + tab" to bring them to front. If I map the picture control to the default CStatic class, the above problem disappeared. Do anyone has some hints to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for any help.

• Rotate camera around player and set new forward directions

  I have a 3rd person camera which can rotate around the player. When I look at the back of the player and press forward, player goes forward. Then I rotate 360 around the player and "forward direction" is tilted for 90 degrees. So every 360 turn there is 90 degrees of direction change. For example when camera is facing the right side of the player, when I press button to move forward, I want player to turn to the left and make that the "new forward". I have Player object with Camera as child object. Camera object has Camera script. Inside Camera script there are Player and Camera classes. Player object itself, has Input Controller. Also I'm making this script for joystick/ controller primarily.   Before joining Oracle as Product Manager for WebLogic and GlassFish for Latin America, at the beggining of this year I proposed two talks to JavaOne USA that I had been presenting in Brazil for quite a while. One of them I presented last year at ApacheCon in Vancouver, Canada as well in JavaOne Brazil. In June I got the news that they were accepted as Alternate Sessions. Surprisingly enough, few weeks later and at the same time I joined Oracle, I received the news that they were officially accepted and put on schedule. Tomorrow I'll be flying to San Francisco, to my first JavaOne in the United States, and I wanted to share with you what I'm going to present there. My two sessions are these ones: Wed, 10/03, 4:30pm - CON2989 Leverage Enterprise Integration Patterns with Apache Camel and TwitterOn this one, you will be introducted to the Apache Camel framework that I had been talking about in Brazil at conferences, before joining Oracle, and to a component I contributed to integrate with Twitter.
