  I have this class that contains vars for db connection; Public Shared s As String Public Shared con As String = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("foo").ToString() Public Shared c As New SqlConnection(con) Public Shared x As New SqlCommand(s, c) I import this to my page like this; Imports DBVars I'm then able to access these vars from my page. But if I try to import them into a user control the variables are not available. Am I making an error or is this expected? Thanks.

  Once I've mapped my domain in NHibernate, how can I reverse lookup those mappings somewhere else in my code? Example: The entity Pony is mapped to a table named "AAZF1203" for some reason. (Stupid legacy database table names!) I want to find out that table name from the NH mappings using only the typeof(Pony) because I have to write a query elsewhere.   After getting some responses, the current situation is that I'm using this tip: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/xml/library/x-tipbigdoc5.html (Listing 1. Turning ResultSets into XML), and XMLWriter for Java from http://www.megginson.com/downloads/ . Basically, it reads date from the database and writes them to a file as characters, using column names to create opening and closing tags. The problems are that the returning date is a timestamp, meaning I don't get 14.02.2010 but rather 14.02.2010 00:00:000 so I have to format it to the dd.mm.yyyy format. The second problem are the numbers; for some reason, they are in database as varchar2 and can have leading zeroes that need to be stripped; I'm guessing I could do that in my SQL with the trim function so the Util.transformToHTML is unnecessary (for clarification, here's the method): public static String transformToHTML(Integer number) { String result = ""; try { result = number.toString(); } catch (Exception e) {} return result; } What I'd like to know is a) Can I get the date in the format I want and skip additional processing thus shortening the processing time? b) Is there a better way to do this? • BlackBerry OS 7.1 secured TLS connection is closed after very short time

  To make a long story short: Same client-server configuration, same network topology, same device (Bold 9900) - works perfectly well on OS 7.0 but doesn't work as expected on OS 7.1 and the secured tls connection is being closed by the server after a very short time. My application opens a secured tls connection to a server. The connection is kept alive by a application layer keep-alive mechanism and remains open until the client closes it. Attached is a simplified version of the actual code that opens connection and reads from the socket. The code works perfectly on OS 5.0-7.0 but doesn't work as expected on OS 7.1. When running on OS 7.1, the blocking read() returns with -1 (end of the stream has been reached) after very short time (10-45 seconds). For OS 5.0-7.0 the call to read() remains blocking until next data arrives and the connection is never closed by the server. Everything works as expected when opening a non secured connection on OS 7.1. For tls on mobile networks I use the following connection string: connectionString = "tls://someipaddress:443;deviceside=false;ConnectionType=mds-public;EndToEndDesired"; For tls on Wifi I use the following connection string: connectionString = "tls://someipaddress:443;deviceside=true;interface=wifi;EndToEndRequired" UPDATE 2: The connection is never idle. I am constantly receiving and sending data on it. The issue appears both when using mobile connection and WiFi. The issue appears both on real OS 7.1 devices and simulators. I am starting to suspect that it is somehow related either to the connection string I am using or to the tls handshake. UPDATE 3: According to Wireshark's captures that I made with the OS 7.1 simulator, the secured tls connection is being closed by the server (client receives FIN). For the moment I don't have the server's private key therefore I unable to debug the tls handshake.

  When you add a label to the form from the toolbox, its text defaults to the item's name (label1, label2, etc). How can I make this happen with a custom control? So far, I have the following, which allows me to change the text through the property window: private string _text; [BrowsableAttribute(true)] public override string Text { get { return _text; } set { _text = value; lblID.Text = _text; } } Apparently the above code works as is, but I'm not sure why. Does Text default to the object's name automatically? The question still stands for other properties which don't override Text.

  I need to match two cases js/example_directory/example_name.js and js/example_directory/example_name.js?12345 (where 12345 is a digit string of unknown length and the directory can be limitless in depth or not exist at all) I need to capture in both cases everything between js/ and .js and if ? exists capture the digit string after ? This is what I have so far ^js/(.*).js\??(\d+)? This works except it also captures js/example_directory/example_name.js12345 I want the regex to ignore that. Any suggestions? Thank you all! At first I was thinking, it registers it's instances to keep track of them, but regular constructors could do the same thing through the use of private static variables.   I am working on playing with some Python to create a webapp. At first I put the HTML in a string, using %s to fill certain elements. That all worked perfectly. Now I want to put the HTML in a template, so I followed this tutorial. I did add the latest jinja2 library to my app.yaml, and naturally my rot13.html does exist with the {{ text }} added. So could anyone please help me in the right direction? I don't know why it's going wrong.

  Hi there, I have a Java Web application using GlassFish 3, JSF2.0 (facelets) and JPA (EclipseLink). The problem I'm facing, is that if I'm saving entities to the database with the update() method, String data loses integrity; '?' is shown instead of some characters. The server, pages and database is/are configured to use UTF-8. After I post form data, the next page shows the data correctly. Furthermore it "seems" in debug that the String property of the current entity stores the correct value too. Dunno if NetBeans debug can be trusted; might be that it decodes correctly, however it's incorrect. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance! Daniel

  OK so to set and read variables from the current session String Myvar =(string) System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session[“MyVariable”] To set System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session[“MyVariable”] = “NewValue” I can do neither, I get a System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. from System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session. In my web.config I have <sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" cookieless="false" timeout="20"> </sessionState> I have read a dozen articles on the the necessity of IHttpHandler and an IRequiresSessionState interface. I think the issue may be caused because I am requesting this information in Page_PreInit. I found a solution in a stack overflow article but I don't seem be using it properly to actually make this go. I am not sure what I am missing. Thanks in advance.

• Convert integer to equivalent number of blank spaces.

  I was wondering what the easiest way is to convert an integer to the equivalent number of blank spaces. I need it for the spaces between nodes when printing a binary search tree. I tried this `int position = printNode.getPosition(); String formatter = "%1"+position+"s%2$s\n"; System.out.format(formatter, "", node.element);` But I am getting almost 3 times as many spaces compared to the int value of position. I'm not really sure if I am formatting the string right either. Any suggestions would be great! If it makes it clearer, say position = 6; I want 6 blank spaces printed before my node element.

Is the use of ifstream here efficient? Can I do better? I'm reading about mmap() implementations but I'm not understanding them 100%. The input file is simply text strings with *nix line terminations.
