  I'm trying to create a custom attribute called Tag for all editable elements. I added the following to attrs.xml <declare-styleable name="Spinner"> <attr name="tag" format="string" /> </declare-styleable> <declare-styleable name="EditText"> <attr name="tag" format="string" /> </declare-styleable> I get an error saying "Attribute tag has already been defined" for the EditText. Is it not possible to create a custom attribute of the same name on different elements?

• Does MultiThreading in Java takes much time for task completion?

  I have to search for a string in 10 large size files (in zip format 70 MB) and have to print the lines with the search string to corresponding 10 output files.(i.e. file 1 output should be in output_file1...file2--- output_file2). The same program takes 15 mins for a single file. But if use 10 threads to read 10 files and to write in 10 different files it should complete in 15 mins but its taking 40 mins. How can I solve this. Or multithreading will take this much time only?

  I'm using two class NiceCustomer & RoughCustomer which implment the interface ICustomer. The ICustomer has four properties. They are: 1) Property Id() As Integer 2) Property Name() As String 3) Property IsNiceCustomer() As Boolean 4) ReadOnly Property AddressFullText() As String I don't know how to map the interface ICustomer, to the database. • Is it possible to query a XML file with SQL?

  Currently I'm working on a case where we don't want to change to much on a c#/wpf program, but like to add a feature. Currently we allow certain users to add sql queries to a database to retrieve customer data, hereby a custom connection string/ provider name must be specified. With this information it's possible to create the connection and obtain the data with c#. However we like to add the possibility to allow that user group to query XML files too, with a certain connection string/ provider name. I just had a look for possibities in .net to do that, but can't seem to find a decent way... Is something like this possible? (OleDb/ODBC way maybe?) Thanks in advance.

• c++ "interface"-like classes similar to Java?

  In Java, you can define an interface as a class with no actual code implementation, but only to define the methods that a class must implement. Those types can be passed as parameters to methods and returned from methods. In C++, a pure virtual class can't be used as a parameter or return type, from what I can tell. Any way to mimic Java's interface classes? I have a string class in C++, and several subclasses for different encodings (like UTFxxx, ISOxxx, etc) that derive from the base string class. However, since there are so many different encodings, the base class has no meaningful implementation. But it would serve well as an interface if I could handle it as its own object and calls to that object would call on the correct subclass it was inherited to.

• Passing an object as a parameter to a windows service

  Is there some way to pass an object to a windows service? I know the method myServiceController.Star(string[] arg) but i need to pass a more complex object than a string array. Actually, i don't need the object to be passed as a parameter, what i really needs is that the service can use an object created in a windows forms application. I've tried using System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer.Serialize method to convert the object into a Json but i couldn't because the object contains a circular reference. I also tried using pointers, but i couldn't becouse it is a managed type object. Any idea what can i do?

  For those unfamiliar with JNotify, this is a library which provides an easy way to monitor events in a directory. For instance, when a file gets deleted in the selected folder, the method "fileDeleted" gets called, along with a few parameters. Here's an example of the fileDeleted method: public void fileDeleted(int wd, String rootPath, String name) { print("deleted " + rootPath + " : " + name); } Now, I would like to know if the deleted file was a file or directory. My usual approach is to create a new File object with the given path, and use the methods isFile() and isDirectory() However, since this file is already deleted, these methods always return false. So here's my concrete question: I have the path to a deleted file or directory, how can I tell wether it was a file or a directory? Is there a workaround to this? What's the best practice to do here?   I need to match two cases js/example_directory/example_name.js and js/example_directory/example_name.js?12345 (where 12345 is a digit string of unknown length and the directory can be limitless in depth or not exist at all) I need to capture in both cases everything between js/ and .js and if ? exists capture the digit string after ? This is what I have so far ^js/(.*).js\??(\d+)? This works except it also captures js/example_directory/example_name.js12345 I want the regex to ignore that. Any suggestions? Thank you all!   I am getting an error when I try to insert an item into a list (in C++). The error is that there is no matching function for call to the insert(). I also tried push_front() but got the same error. • variable being weirdly deleted

• Java BufferedReader behavior in CSV vs TXT file

  If i try to read a CSV file called csv_file.csv. The problem is that when i read lines with BufferedReader.readLine() it skips the first line with months. But when i rename the file to csv_file.txt it reads it allright and it's not skipping the first line. Is there an undocumented "feature" of BufferedReader that i'm not aware?   I want to make an intellisense code snippet using Ctl K + Ctl X that actually executes code when it runs... for example, I would like to do the following: <![CDATA[string.Format("{MM/dd/yyyy}", System.DateTime.Now);]]> But rather than giving me that string value, I want the date in the format specified. Another example of what I want is to create a new Guid but truncate to the first octet, so I would want to use a create a new Guid using System.Guid.NewGuid(); to give me {798400D6-7CEC-41f9-B6AA-116B926802FE} for example but I want the value: 798400D6 from the code snippet. I'm open to not using an Intellisense Code Snippet.. I just thought that would be easy.

• Task.wait not working as I imagined

  I am trying to download a file, wait for the file to finish downloading, and then read the file afterwards. This is throwing an IOException saying that the file is in use by something else and cannot be read. I thought that having task.Wait would prevent the rest of the method from executing until the task was finished?
