  • Redirect based on Accept-Language

    - by Anthony Faull
I need to honor the web browser's list of language preferences. Supported languages are English and French. For example: http_accept_language="jp-JP;fr;en-US;en" redirects to a directory called /French/. How can I do this with rewrite rules in my .htaccess file?

  • Emulate terminal services

    - by cloudstrif3
Hello, I am a seasoned Delphi developer and would like to create something like seamless terminal services where an application is executed on a server but appears on the the desktop of the client. To someone working on the server i don't want them to see the remote application running (except if they looked in at the list of running processes). Im lost as to how to go about this, where to start, how to get an application to render to a surface other than the servers desktop. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

  • Nested WHILE loops not acting as expected - Javascript / Google Apps Script

    - by dthor
I've got a function that isn't acting as intended. Before I continue, I'd like preface this with the fact that I normally program in Mathematica and have been tasked with porting over a Mathematica function (that I wrote) to JavaScript so that it can be used in a Google Docs spreadsheet. I have about 3 hours of JavaScript experience... The entire (small) project is calculating the Gross Die per Wafer, given a wafer and die size (among other inputs). The part that isn't working is where I check to see if any corner of the die is outside of the effective radius, Reff. The function takes a list of X and Y coordinates which, when combined, create the individual XY coord of the center of the die. That is then put into a separate function "maxDistance" that calculates the distance of each of the 4 corners and returns the max. This max value is checked against Reff. If the max is inside the radius, 1 is added to the die count. // Take a list of X and Y values and calculate the Gross Die per Wafer function CoordsToGDW(Reff,xSize,ySize,xCoords,yCoords) { // Initialize Variables var count = 0; // Nested loops create all the x,y coords of the die centers for (var i = 0; i < xCoords.length; i++) { for (var j = 0; j < yCoords.length, j++) { // Add 1 to the die count if the distance is within the effective radius if (maxDistance(xCoords[i],yCoords[j],xSize,ySize) <= Reff) {count = count + 1} } } return count; } Here are some examples of what I'm getting: xArray={-52.25, -42.75, -33.25, -23.75, -14.25, -4.75, 4.75, 14.25, 23.75, 33.25, 42.75, 52.25, 61.75} yArray={-52.5, -45.5, -38.5, -31.5, -24.5, -17.5, -10.5, -3.5, 3.5, 10.5, 17.5, 24.5, 31.5, 38.5, 45.5, 52.5, 59.5} CoordsToGDW(45,9.5,7.0,xArray,yArray) returns: 49 (should be 72) xArray={-36, -28, -20, -12, -4, 4, 12, 20, 28, 36, 44} yArray={-39, -33, -27, -21, -15, -9, -3, 3, 9, 15, 21, 27, 33, 39, 45} CoordsToGDW(32.5,8,6,xArray,yArray) returns: 39 (should be 48) I know that maxDistance() is returning the correct values. So, where's my simple mistake? Also, please forgive me writing some things in Mathematica notation... Edit #1: A little bit of formatting. Edit #2: Per showi, I've changed WHILE loops to FOR loops and replaced <= with <. Still not the right answer. It did clean things up a bit though... Edit #3: What I'm essentially trying to do is take [a,b] and [a,b,c] and return [[a,a],[a,b],[a,c],[b,a],[b,b],[b,c]]

  • Can this django query be improved?

    - by Hobhouse
Given a model structure like this: class Book(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) class Readingdate(models.Model): book = models.ForeignKey(Book) date = models.DateField() One book may have several readingdates. How do I list books having at least one readingdate within a specific year? I can do this: from_date = datetime.date(2010,1,1) to_date = datetime.date(2010,12,31) book_ids = Readingdate.objects\ .filter(date__range=(from_date,to_date))\ .values_list('book_id', flat=True) books_read_2010 = Book.objects.filter(id__in=book_ids) Is it possible to do this with one queryset, or is this the best way?

  • Entity Framework 4 missing features?

    - by Roger Alsing
I'm well aware that similair topics have been brought up before e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1639043/entity-framework-4-vs-nhibernate But instead of arguments like: NHibernate have been around longer and is more mature EF4 is drag n drop and not enterprisy EF4 and LinqToSql are ... I would like to see a more detailed list of features that you consider missing from EF4. Personally, I think the lack of enum support is the biggest drawback of EF4.

  • text from a file turned into a variable?

    - by b3y4z1d
If I made a program that stores strings on a text file using the "list"-function(#include ), and then I want to copy all of the text from that file and call it something(so I can tell the program to type in all of the text I copied somewhere by using that one variable to refer to the text), do I use a string, double, int or what do I declare that chunk of text as? I'm making the program using c++ in a simple console application.

  • How to optimize this Python code?

    - by RandomVector
def maxVote(nLabels): count = {} maxList = [] maxCount = 0 for nLabel in nLabels: if nLabel in count: count[nLabel] += 1 else: count[nLabel] = 1 #Check if the count is max if count[nLabel] > maxCount: maxCount = count[nLabel] maxList = [nLabel,] elif count[nLabel]==maxCount: maxList.append(nLabel) return random.choice(maxList) nLabels contains a list of integers. The above function returns the integer with highest frequency, if more than one have same frequency then a randomly selected integer from them is returned. E.g. maxVote([1,3,4,5,5,5,3,12,11]) is 5

  • Can Drupal terms in different Taxonomies be synonymous?

    - by DKinzer
Let's say Taxonomy_A is associated to Node_Type_A Taxonomy_B is associated to Node_Type_B. AND Both Taxonomy_A and Taxonomy_B have a term called 'yellow'. Is it possible to make terms 'yellow' synonymous, so that if I'm looking at a list of 'yellow' stuff, I'm seeing content of both types (Node_Type_A, and Node_Type_B)?

  • mysql: can't set max_allowed_package to anything grater than 16MB

    - by sas
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post these kind of questions, if it's not so, please (politely) let me know... :-) I need to save files greater than 16MB on a mysql database from a php site... I've already changed the c:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.cnf and set max_allowed_packet to 16 MB, and everything worked fine then I set it to 32 MB but there´s no way I can handle a file bigger than 16 MB I get the following error: 'MySQL server has gone away' (the same error I had when max_allowed_packet was set to 1MB) there must be some other setting that doesn´t allow me to handle files bigger than 16MB maybe the php client, I guess, but I don't know where to edit it this is the code I'm running when file.txt is smaller than 16.776.192 bytes long, it works fine, but if file.txt has 16.777.216 bytes i get the aforementioned error oh, and the field download.content is a longblob... $file = 'file.txt'; $file_handle = fopen( $file, 'r' ); $content = fread( $file_handle, filesize( $file ) ); fclose( $file_handle ); db_execute( 'truncate table download', true ); $sql = "insert into download( code, title, name, description, original_name, mime_type, size, content, user_insert_id, date_insert, user_update_id, date_update ) values ( 'new file', 'new file', 'sas.jpg', 'new file', '$file', 'mime', " . filesize( $file ) . • Do you use an exception class in your Perl programs? Why or why not?

    - by daotoad
I've got a bunch of questions about how people use exceptions in Perl. I've included some background notes on exceptions, skip this if you want, but please take a moment to read the questions and respond to them. Thanks. Background on Perl Exceptions Perl has a very basic built-in exception system that provides a spring-board for more sophisticated usage. For example die "I ate a bug.\n"; throws an exception with a string assigned to $@. You can also throw an object, instead of a string: die BadBug->new('I ate a bug.'); You can even install a signal handler to catch the SIGDIE psuedo-signal. Here's a handler that rethrows exceptions as objects if they aren't already. $SIG{__DIE__} = sub { my $e = shift; $e = ExceptionObject->new( $e ) unless blessed $e; die $e; } This pattern is used in a number of CPAN modules. but perlvar says: Due to an implementation glitch, the $SIG{DIE} hook is called even inside an eval(). Do not use this to rewrite a pending exception in $@ , or as a bizarre substitute for overriding CORE::GLOBAL::die() . This strange action at a distance may be fixed in a future release so that $SIG{DIE} is only called if your program is about to exit, as was the original intent. Any other use is deprecated. So now I wonder if objectifying exceptions in sigdie is evil. The Questions Do you use exception objects? If so, which one and why? If not, why not? If you don't use exception objects, what would entice you to use them? If you do use exception objects, what do you hate about them, and what could be better? Is objectifying exceptions in the DIE handler a bad idea? Where should I objectify my exceptions? In my eval{} wrapper? In a sigdie handler? Are there any papers, articles or other resources on exceptions in general and in Perl that you find useful or enlightening.

  • How do I make Subversion (SVN) send email on checkins?

    - by Joe Ludwig
I've always found checkin mails to be very useful for keeping track of what work other people are doing in the codebase. How do I set up SVN to email a distribution list on each checkin? Edit: I'm running clients on Windows and the server on Linux. The answers below for various platforms will likely be useful to other people though.

  • 2 roles, admin and user. Is using anything other than basic http auth overkill?

    - by juststarting
I'm building my first website with rails,it consists of a blog, a few static pages and a photo gallery. The admin section has namespaced controllers. I also want to create a mailing list, collecting contact info, (maybe a spree store in the future too.) Should I just use basic http authentication and check if the user is admin? Or is a plugin like authlogic better, then define user roles even though there would only be two; admin and user?

To provide a Windows Explorer-like view of the user's system, we have been using the shell controls from LogicNP (formerly Sky Software), but these have deficiencies, e.g., no support for Win7 libraries. The vendor has not responded to our inquiries about updates, so we're looking to replace the package. Requirements: ActiveX (no managed code or MFC) Tree and list views of the system Per-item checkboxes 32- and 64-bit versions Any recommendations for a replacement product? TIA.

  • Is there a way to prevent a string of letters with no spaces from overflowing out of its correspondi

    - by Scarface
The question is pretty straight forward, I have tried using a span with rules set to clear:both; and display:block;, at the bottom of each list entry where the text is being inserted in with no luck. I am not really sure what to do on this. I don't expect to many entries with long consecutive letter strings but for example if someone does lolololololol or ahaahahahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa for like 100 letters, it will overflow. If anyone can give me a pointer I would really appreciate it.
