• cannot play VTC video file (.mov) using VLC player

  I have a training course contains .mov files which have video codec as apple graphics smc. I have googled and found out to add these options to play them link from where I got help But they are playing fine only in SMplayer. I want to configure similarly and play those files in VLC player. This is the error which I'm facing Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface. • Sprite sheets, Clamp or Wrap?

  I'm using a combination of sprite sheets for well, sprites and individual textures for infinite tiling. For the tiling textures I'm obviously using Wrap to draw the entire surface in one call but up until now I've been making a seperate batch using Clamp for drawing sprites from the sprite sheets. The sprite sheets include a border (repeating the edge pixels of each sprite) and my code uses the correct source coordinates for sprites. But since I'm never giving coordinates outside of the texture when drawing sprites (and indeed the border exists to prevent bleed over when filtering) it's struck me that I'd be better off just using Wrap so that I can combine everything into one batch. I just want to be sure that I haven't overlooked something obvious. Is there any reason that Wrap would be harmful when used with a sprite sheet?

  I have the following dilemma with the links of a wordpress blog that I work with, I don't know if the way it creates the link to the images is ok or not so good. For example: Article URL: http://test.com/prima-de-riesgo/ Image URL belonging to the article: http://test.com/prima-de-riesgo/europa/ So what I'm worried about is the repeating "prima-de-riesgo" part.   I would like to know if there's a known algorithm or best practice way to do the following: I have a collection with a subcollection, for example: R1 R2 R3 -- -- -- M M M N N L L A What i need is an algorithm to get the following result: R1, R2: M N L R2: A R3: M This is -not- what i want, it has more repeating values for R than the above: R1, R2, R3: M R1, R2: N L R2: A I need to group in way that i get the most optimized groups of R. The least amount of groups of R the better so i get the largest sub collections. Another example (with the most obvious result): R1 R2 R3 -- -- -- M M A V V B L L C Should result in: R1, R2: M V L R3: A B C I need to do this in LINQ/C#. Any solutions? Tips? Links?

  I was having some problem with Software center. So tried to reinstall it. But While removing it give me an error. (Reading database ... 150986 files and directories currently installed.) • Should all new web projects build their backend based on xml/json result sets?

  If you were building a new Saas project, would it make sense to start with all of the backend services returning xml/json? Because these days you need to build for both the web and mobile devices, and having a backend that is build from the start to return xml and json, you are ready to go mobile (all services have the business logic, so you won't be repeating anything). Now the web would be MVC, so the controller would just be routing the request to your service backend, and converting the json or xml to html. The obviousl downside is that you have to build a backend, and then another web project that calls your backend. But this also goes to you favor as it forces you to seperate your concerns, and not leak business logic in your controller/view layer. Thoughts?

• Texture the quad with different parts of texture

  I have a 2D quad. Let say it's position is (5,10) and size is (7,11). I want to texture it with one texture, but using three different parts of it. I want to texture the part of quad from x = 5 to x = 7 with part of texture from U = 0 to U = 0.5 (replaying it after achieving 0.5, so I will have 4 same 0.5-lenght fragments). The second one with some other part of texture (also repeating it) and third in the same style. But, how to achieve it? I know that: float2 tc = fmod(input.TexCoord, textureCoordinates.zw - textureCoordinates.xy) + textureCoordinates.xy; //textureCoordinates.xy = fragments' offset Will give me the texture part replaying.

• Why don't computers store decimal numbers as a second whole number?

  Computers have trouble storing fractional numbers where the denominator is something other than a solution to 2^x. This is because the first digit after the decimal is worth 1/2, the second 1/4 (or 1/(2^1) and 1/(2^2)) etc. Why deal with all sorts of rounding errors when the computer could have just stored the decimal part of the number as another whole number (which is therefore accurate?) The only thing I can think of is dealing with repeating decimals (in base 10), but there could have been an edge solution to that (like we currently have with infinity).

• Procedural Mesh: UV mapping

  I made a procedural mesh and now I want to apply a texture to it. The problem is, I cannot get it to stick the way I want it to. The idea is to have the texture painted only once over the whole mesh, so that there is no repeating. How should I map the UV to make that happen? My mesh is a simple plane consisting of 56 triangles. I'd add pictures to clear things up but I cannot since my reputation is below 10 points. Any help is appreciated. • Why can't GoogleBot forget a 404 File Does Not Exist?

  Hi folks, For two months now, googlebot is trying to get a file which does not exist anymore. This is just one example out of many: I had renamed the file to a better name and removed the old file. Now, why does Google insist on getting a file which it already has seen does not exist for months? doesn't it just give up and get on being a happy bot? My Error log file is filled with these repeating lines all wanting to get that one file, although they know for already long time that its not there: What to do in these situations? Are there automatic redirection rules that handle via 301 to the home page? • Does Google AdWords care about duplicate content?

  Our site offers several families of products, all of which have a common set of configurations. For simplicity's sake, we'll say we offer products A, B and C, each with configurations 1, 2 and 3 Products: A, B, C Configurations: 1, 2, 3 We want to create landing page <- ad group combinations that reflect each possible combination of each product and configuration. Each product and each configuration have their own page, and so each landing page would have include the product content and the configuration content: ourproducts.com/A-1 (Contains copy for A and 1) ourproducts.com/A-2 ourproducts.com/A-3 ourproducts.com/B-1 ... etc... As you can see, this will lead to duplicate content across our product pages, though in different combinations. My question is, does this matter from AdWords point of view? Will there be any negative consequence to repeating portions of content this way?

• Bug once in a while,but high priority

  I am working on a CNC (computer numerical control) project which cuts shapes into metal with help of laser. Now my problem is once in a while (1-2 times in 20 odd days) the cutting goes wrong or not according to what is set. But this causes loss so the client is not very happy about it. I tried to find out the the cause of it by Including log files Debugging Repeating the same environment. But it wont repeat. A pause and continue operation will again make it to run smoothly with the bug reappearing. How do I tackle this issue? Should I state it as a Hardware Problem?

• Scale DIV with tiles

  I am trying to create a repeating background. I have a main DIV with a grid of small 16x16 DIVs. I am trying to scale the main DIV in CSS; when the small DIVs simply have a red background color everything works great, but when there is a background image in the small DIVs then borders become visible between the tiles. • How to make bash script run with a latency (i.e. wait 1 sec at each iterations)?

  I have this bash script; for (( i = 1 ; i <= 160 ; i++ )); do qsub myccomputations"${i}".pbs done Basically, I would prefer if there was a 1 second delay between each iteration. The reason is that at each iterations, it sends the program file mycomputation"${i}$.pbs to a core node for solving. Solving in this instance involves the use of pseudo random numbers. I suspect the RNG I use (R's) uses CPU time as seed because as things are now I get repeating pseudo random numbers (at the rate of approx 1 out of 100). So how to you ask bash to for (( i = 1 ; i <= 160 ; i++ )); do wait 1 sec qsub myccomputations"${i}".pbs done

• Ubuntu 11.10 momentarily freezes every couple minutes

  I'm working on an Acer Aspire One D257 running Ubuntu 11.10, and every few minutes the laptop freezes up for a second or two, before becoming responsive again. This doesn't really present a huge problem, but when I'm trying to code all of a sudden vim stops responding for a couple seconds while I'm trying to modify my code, it's increasingly frustrating. The odd part is, if I play a movie in VLC at the same time, when vim pauses the video keeps playing just fine (VLC's priority is not modified). I'm wondering if anyone knows why this may be happening, or in lieu of that, how I might be able to track down the source of my frustrating pauses. Normally I would try using top, but the pauses are shorter than 2 seconds so nothing unusual shows up in top as consuming the CPU. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot intermittent repeating 1 second long pauses in vim?

  I have a table called LogMessages, which has the following columns: Level A numeric value which represents Trace, Debug, Info, Warning, Error or Fatal Time A UTC time Message Foreign key to a Messages table Source Foreign key to a Sources table User Foreign key to a Users table From what I can see, all of these columns are a part of the super key; if any single value differs to an existing row, a new row can be created. My question is, does this design comply to fifth normal form? I am unsure as some groups of data will be repeating, however I don't believe this violates 5NF? (correct me if I'm wrong)

• how do i stop root from running a program

  I would like to prevent my root user from running certain applications that can change the permissions of files which in turn prevents normal users from running those applications again. for example, if i sudo to root, and then run thunderbird from the command prompt, it changes the permissions of files within my home dir / profile so i can no longer run it as a normal user; what i would like to do is prevent root from running thunderbird and hence stop this user error from repeating itself. any suggestions? to clarify, if i have a lot of administration to do i use "sudo -s" which gives me a root shell, its just once a year or so, i shoot myself in the foot.

It freezes completely repeating a small sound loop from tv. cant go to terminal etc. I have a phenom II 3,40 ghz dualcore cpu , but i unlocked the other two cores so now its quadcore. On Windows i don't have any problems and i use the performance mode all the time and never breaks. I'm really dissapointed....

• Is it possible to configure Apple's Magic Mouse to be recognised on start up?

  This question may apply more roundly to all bluetooth mice but in my case I am dealing with an Apple Magic Mouse. I have followed the set up instructions here; https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch/AppleMagicMouse closely. I have even removed the mouse and started from scratch more than once repeating each step described carefully. Every time the computer is started it does not see the Magic Mouse by default. I need to keep a wired mouse connected to the computer at all times which I use to log in with then connect the Magic Mouse, in a somewhat counter-intuitive exercise! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Error creating an .img file from an .ISO (MD5 verified)

  I was following the instructions on this website to create a bootable USB flash drive on a Mac: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx The instruction: hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/path/to/target.img ~/path/to/ubuntu.iso does not create a valid file that the disk utility can copy to the USB drive, making installation on a USB drive useless. I've been repeating these instructions for days with no luck. The only thing that does not work is the .ISO to .IMG conversion. Is there a way to download Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-but Desktop in a .IMG file already? Unfortunately, my install notebook does not have an optical drive so USB is the only way. Thanks for your help!
