• How to define clock input in Xilinx

  Hey, I have almost no experience with Xilinx. I have a group project for a Digital Logic course that is due soon, where my partner, who was supposed to take care of the Xilinx simulations decided to bail on me. So here I am trying to figure it out last minute. I have designed a synchronous counter using a few JK Flip Flops and I need to define the CLK input for the FJKCs. I have drawn up the correct schematic, but I cannot figure out how to define a clock input. Any help appreciated, and yes, this is homework. I just can't find any basic xilinx documentation/tutorials online and I honestly don't have time to learn the whole IDE.

• Learning Visual C++ 2008 and C++ at the same time? Any resources to recommend?

  Hey guys, I am trying to learn Visual C++ 2008 and C++ at the same time to get involved with sourcemod, a server side modding tool for valve games. However I have never touched Visual C++ or C++ in general, and doing some preliminary research I am quite confused on these different versions of C++ (mfc, cli, win32), and why a lot of people seem to hate Visual C++ and use something like Borland instead. I really learn visually, and have used videos from places like Lynda.com with great success. I was wondering if anyone had any exceptional resources they had come across to teach Visual C++ 2k8, with its intricacies and setting up the IDE along with C++ at the same time. Books would be nice, but videos would be preferred, and I don't mind paying for resources. Thanks in advance!

• Grails Date Property Editor

  Hey folks, i'm using the jQuery UI datepicker instead of the <g:datePicker>, which is changing the selected date in a textbox. Now I want to save this neatly back into my database, and came across custom property editors. click me hard to see the topic on StackOverflow However, adding this custom PropertyEditor didn't change anything, dates are still displayed like '2010-01-01 00:00:00.0' and if I try to save a date it crashes with Cannot cast object '05.05.2010' with class 'java.lang.String' to class 'java.util.Date'. Is there any additional magic needed, like a special naming of the textbox or something like that? Thanks for your help, Jan

• MYSQL TRIGGER LOOP

  Hey all I am going through the pain stacking process of sorting out someone else code. So I am decided to recreate a new database to sit alongside the old one then to use triggers to transfer data between both tables. Now I have an issue with a it looping IE A trigger on each table to update the other. Once one updates it should update the other but as both tables have triggers it just will loop which will cause an issue. Is their a way to stop this from happening ? Hope this makes sense and hope you can advise.

• MonoRail - Select parent category from one dropdown, show child category dropdown

  Hey, I'm new to MonoRail and am trying to figure out how to have it so that I can select a parent category in a dropdown then have it show a second dropdown with the categories that are children of the parent. If I were using what I'm used to, ASP.NET MVC, I would have a javascript function that would be called onchange of the first dropdown and would make an ajax call to a controller method (passing in the selected parent category id) that would grab all child categories of that parent category and return them in JSON. Then in the callback javascript function I would eval the JSON and populate the second dropdown with the child categories. How would I do this using MonoRail/jQuery? • Question on multi-probe Local Sensitive Hashing

  Hey guys sorry to be asking this kind noob question, but because I really need some guidance on how to use Multi probe LSH pretty urgently, so I did not do much research myself. I realize there is a lib call LSHKIT available that implemented that algorithm, but I have trouble trying to figure out how to use it. Right now, I have a few thousand feature vector 296 dimension, each representing an image. The vector is used to query an user input image, to retrieve the most similar image. The method I used to derive the distance between vector is euclidean distance. I know this might be a rather noob question, but do you guys have knowledge on how should i implement multi probe LSH? I am really very grateful to any answer or response.

  Hey I have run into the following problem when attempting to build a program in java which executes commands on a remote linux server and returns the output for processing... Basically I have installed Cygwin with an SSH client and want to do the following: Open Cygwin, Send command "user@ip"; Return output; Send command "password"; Return output; Send multiple other commands, Return output; ...etc... So far: Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("C:/Power Apps/Cygwin/Cygwin.bat"); Works nicely except I am at a loss as to how to attempt the next steps. Any help?

  I'm pretty new to Python so I am still just learning the language. One of the things I came across was reassigning sys.stdout to change the default output of print. So I wrote this as a test: import sys sys.stdout = open('log.txt','a') print('hey') sys.stdout.close() sys.stdout = sys.__stdout__ print('hi') Now the string 'hi' is not written to the file but it does not show in the default output either. When I assign some other variable to sys.stdout in the beginning and change it back it works, but I'm just wondering why its not changing back the first time.

In my XAML code I have a border: <Border x:Name="myBorder" Background="AliceBlue" Width="200" Height="200" BorderThickness="10" BorderBrush="Black"> </Border> and somewhere in code I increase the BorderThickness double thickness = myBorder.BorderThickness.Bottom + 2; myBorder.BorderThickness = new Thickness(thickness); and the result is that the border's weight increases but not outside the 200x200 width-height, but inner, decreasing the dimension. Is there a way to do the opposite?

• using Control.tabs for prototype.js in Rails

  Hey everyone, I've been trying to use http://livepipe.net/control/tabs to get some javascript tabs up and running on my rails up. I'm really just trying to figure out how to install this... and I don't see how I'm running into any issues at all. Here are the steps I've taken: put tabs.js in my scripts folder made sure the layout is including all javascript files then I copied in the code for example 1, as well as the CSS from the page's style sheet. I don't get an error, but it just doesn't work. Both tabs are displayed... Any ideas?

• WSDL: What do I do with it? Add service Reference? Noobie question

  Hey guys! I have been given a WSDL with all the method requests and responses, and all the objects I'll need to use for creating a few webmethods. The thing is, I don't know what to do with it. I've added the WSDL as a Service Reference. I can see the methods and structures, I can instantiate them, it's all there, but the project doesn't build as soon as I add the WSDL. "Error 2 The type name 'ServiceReference1' does not exist in the type 'WSPELab.WSPELab' C:\Users\JJ\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\WSPELab\WSPELab\Service References\ServiceReference1\Reference.cs 21 111 WSPELabSLN Is it a stupid namespace error on my part? EDIT : Forgot to add this. With the WSDL added, can I used the structures it contains directly? Or are they just "listings" for me to implement? Thanks!

• Changing error message for datatype validation?

  Hey guys, I've a small question on ASP.NET MVC 2. I'm using Data Annotations on my Presentation Model and its model binder per default. But one step back, I want to do the most elementary thing: validation of the data type. Let's say I have an "int ID" on my model and want to edit the according entity in my view. If I enter something wrong like "foo", then I get a model error back, but the validation message is on English. I want to have this message in other languages, too. How can I do this? I remember that in MVC 1 I've written a custom model binder which checks the data types, but that's not what I want to do (at least not in MVC 2). Thus I hope there is a better way... • OpenGL coordinates question

  Hey, I have a simple OpenGL drawing. When the user changes the window's size, I want the drawing to maintain it's aspect ration. I accomplished that by setting the glViewport to the maximum rectangle with the appropriate aspect ration whenever the reshape method is called. My problem is that I want to draw a square that will always remain in the top right corner of the window, no matter what the size or shape of the window is. Right now, that square moves around the screen whenever the window is reshaped. Can anyone please explain how to do this? Thank you,

• slide animation skipped when using updatepanel callback

  Hey, I'm trying to use UpdatePanels and JQuery but the panels seem to cancel out the JQuery. I want the user to press the search button, have the system perform the search using AJAX and then display the search results by sliding down the div using JQuery. However, it seems that if there are any delays, (I put the thread to sleep for a second), then the results just appear instead of sliding down. If I remove the sleep thread the sliding animation is fine.   Hey, I'm trying to create a game similar to this (Note:When you click 'play', there are SFX in the game which you can't seem to turn off, so you may want to check volume). In particular, I'm interested in knowing how the 'infinite' landscape is generated. Are there any tutorials/articles describing this? • Should I Prefer a Closed or Open List<> System?

  Hey guys, I've got a class in my project that stores a List< of elements. I'm trying to figure out whether I should allow the user to add to that List directly (e.g. Calling the native add/remove methods) or lock it down by declaring the List private and only allowing a handful of methods I choose to actually alter the List. It's a framework, so I'm trying to design it as robustly as possible, but I also want to keep it as simple and error-free as possible. What's the best practice in this situation? Thanks, Tyler
