• Flex / ZendAMF / PHP app, corrupted data with some linux clients problem

  Hello, i'm buiding a survey web application, using Flex for the front-end (nice forms), and a MySQL database for the storage, linked by PHP with the help of ZendAMF. I largely borrowed from this nice tutorial by Alan Gruskoff : http://digitalshowcase.biz/wordpress/?page_id=26 (The only one tutorial i've found to work with the last version of Flex). The app seems to works nicely in my tests, except on certain linux boxes : the data is somehow corrupted : there is no error message, no glitch, but the response of the forms are not what the user selected. I tried to reproduce the error on a fresh installed ubuntu VM, but it works fine. I've asked friends for some tests, and several linux users showed the same problem, on ubuntu and suse machines, all freshly updated and functionnal. The application was targeted to be the survey tool for my doctoral thesis, so i'm quite desperate here, and before i'm dumping it to start anew with php only, i'm asking here in case someone can help, thanks :-) Please excuse my english, by the way. • How to detect an 'image area' percentage inside an image?

  Mhh, kinda hard to explain with my poor english ;) So, lets say I have an image, doesnt matter what kind of (gif, jpg, png) with 200x200 pixel size (total area 40000 pixels) This image have a background, that can be trasparent, or every color (but i know the background-color in advance). Lets say that in the middle of this image, there is a picture (for keep the example simple lets suppose is a square drawn), of 100x100 pixels (total area 10000 pixels). I need to know the area percentage that the small square fill inside the image. So, in i know the full image size and the background-color, there is a way in php/python to scan the image and retrieve that (in short, counting the pixel that are different from the given background)? In the above example, the result should be 25%

  Hi, Excuse me for my poor english in advance as it is not my mother tongue. Like in this example: http://www.xylax.net/hibernate/manytomany.html But i have in the table foo-bar 2 attributes which are not part of the primary or foreign keys.: one boolean(A) & one string(B). I know how to map it without attributes but not in this case. I have not found an answer in the documentation. • need suggestions about content filtering project

  i'm thinking of designing and implementing a content filtering software as my graduation project. i want it to be a user contributed software. i mean, users can also add/categorize websites. it should be also a web project and extensions for browsers like chrome, firefox, ie.. my question is which programming language do you suggest for this project? i know that firefox extensions are javascript based maybe you can say use .net framework 3.5 because it's better in communication with extensions. sorry for my bad english.. btw any other suggessions about project will be good.. thx a lot.

• Multilingual in Drupal: Can't have a node and it's translations as frontpage. How to?

  hi, i built a page in Persian. set it's path to front set drupal frontpage to /front everything is O.K. in mysite.com/fa i translate the page to en problem arises. now the path of Persian page changes to default node/33. now in language's frontpage drupal says Can't find the page. i tried to set path front to the translated english page. but it did not helped. i alse tried to assign path fa/front to my Persian page. nothing helped. translating brakes path in other nodes. how can i have these pages /front and /fa/front translated of each other as the same time?

• mysql: select ... where id = any value. is it possible?

  look at this table please table |id| |name| |order| i must get the rows, where name = something and order = somevalue so i write select `id` from `table` where `name` = 'something' and `order` = 'somevalue' but depend on php logic, sometimes i need to get all rows, where name = somethimg, independently of order value. i don't want to change the query structure, because in practise there are many number of fields, and possible count of queries will became very big. so i want to save the structure of query, and when i need to select just by name, i want to write something like this select `id` from `table` where `name` = 'something' and `order` = any value is it possible? maybe the question is incomprehensible, at least i tried;) sorry for bad english thanks

• Problems with noobs putting my GA code into their sites

  I don't mean for the title to be derogatory, but this is a rather frustrating problem, and I'm looking for a good workaround, given a language barrier involved. I have a site set up for a plugin I wrote, and, rather than use the site's resources to write their own code, I've had people simply rip the code from the samples on the site. Normally, this wouldn't be any issue at all, but they are also taking my Google Analytics instantiation, so my Analytics data is getting very skewed by incorporating visitation data from their websites. I've been able to contact the English-speaking site owners with little issue. The problem lies in the Japanese language sites that are yanking the code. I have no idea how to ask them to take down the analytics portion. Long-term, I'm providing a package that streamlines the learning-to-use process, but in the meantime, what can I do about this language barrier? Is there a way around this problem that I haven't thought of?

• Facebook doesn't work on my website

  So, I use to have the facebook like button and box working normaly but now, I have created a new blogue and a new facebook app and the facebook just doens't work in it. Problem : in like box or the normal like button it ask for me to confirm the like but after confirmation, nothing happend. Can anybody please explain me how to make it work on my website ? I tried to follow instruction about open graphs and alots of things that I did not use last time on a website, and nothing worked for me . I want to make centre bigger and bigger and bigger every time imageView collide with center, but it become bigger just one time . Sorry for my english I'm french :/ How can I solve this please ?

Can you help me change the function to accept html? • russian characters not accepted in php / phpmyadmin ?

  I have a website in 3 languages: english, dutch and russian. There's a little CMS where the user can update the text on the website. everything works good, except for the russian text.. If I enter any russian text in the form in the CMS, I get "????" in the phpmyadmin database and on the website. I am completely new to charsets, it's the first time I am building a website in a language that is not supported like in this case.. Could someone please tell me what's the problem here? and what I have to do to make this work in russian language?

• Doing a join across two databases with different collations on SQL Server and getting an error.

  I know, I know with what I wrote in the question I shouldn't be surprised. But my situation is slowly working on an inherited POS system and my predecessor apparently wasn't aware of JOINs so when I looked into one of the internal pages that loads for 60 seconds I see that it's a fairly quick, rewrite these 8 queries as one query with JOINs situation. Problem is that besides not knowing about JOINs he also seems to have had a fetish for multiple databases and surprise, surprise they use different collations. Fact of the matter is we use all "normal" latin characters that English speaking people would consider the entire alphabet and this whole thing will be out of use in a few months so a bandaid is all I need. Long story short is I need some kind of method to cast to a single collation so I can compare two fields from two databases. Exact error is: Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_CI_AI" and "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" in the equal to operation.

  When I run this test code on my development machine it works as expected. I checked Control panel date and time setting and it is correctly set to London. Web server is IIS7 but I don't think that would affect anything? IN region and Language, location is set to United Kingdom and in Administrative (change system locale ) it is also correct as English (United Kingdom)

• System context menu Icon not transparent like WinRAR

  I added a icon at the system context menu(the popped up menu when we right mouse click on any file/foler). But the icon is not transparent(in xp its not notice able, but in vista/win7 it is clearly visible) there is a white background beneath the icon. But WinRAR or TortoiseSVN icons don't have any white background, they are transparent. I tried the following C++ code: #define BITMAP_MAIN 201 //in resource.h BITMAP_MAIN BITMAP "main.bmp" // in .rc file // showing icon in menu... But i couldnt find a way to sort them, based on the language in which its localized. At present i have sorted it out based on english only. The database sorting cannot be changed if a schema bound object depends on it. Remove the dependency of the database sortieren and retry. I got a ton more of the errors like that.

• VIM comma is missing in insert mode

  Hi folks, I'm a VIM beginner, and I have a weird problem. I started using vim in a terminal emulator, but today I moved to gVim. Then I realized that I cannot write a comma in Insert mode! I tried :map ,, :imap , both said no mapping found. THen I tried :nomap , and :inomap , both without any luck. As writing the commands, I am able to write the comma, but not in insert mode. What can be the problem? Some details: I'm running a freshly installed ubuntu 9.04 system, with an english keyboard, but using a hungarian layout. I am able to write a comma in vim when writing into the "command line" of vim, after pressing : in command mode.

  I have a website with a flag. If it is clicked, the language of the website changes. • Is naming a software product the same as a book legally problematic?

  I came up with a name for a software product I'm developing. It's composed of two common English words put together (for example, Firefox, Silverlight, etc.). I Googled the name to see if it was being used by any other software product before committing to it. After finding none, I did notice that there is a book published around 60 years ago, by that same name. Would it be legally problematic to name my software product as such, or does it being a software product vs a book make it irrelevant? PS - I know this isn't really a programming question, but naming is related to software development, isn't it? ;) PPS - How do companies like Microsoft get away with naming things "Windows" and "Office"? Or are they just legally called "Microsoft Windows" and "Microsoft Office"? Do developer names always precede software product names? Would naming a software product "Jones Office" be illegal?

• Dynamic resize with MPlayer and PyGTK

  Hi everyone; I've wrote a piece of code in python and pygtk for an embeded mplayer in a gui. I assume I use GtkSocket and the slave mode of mplayer with the -wid option. But I've got an issue, when the size of my GTK window is smaller than my stream, the stream appears to be cropped. And when the size of my window is bigger than my stream, the stream appear centred inside the widget which embed MPlayer. (a gtk.Frame but I've also try with a gtk.DrawingArea) I would like to know how I can get my stream resize dynamically depending on the window's size. I don't want to use Glade or any GUI builder. Thanks in advance for any help, and please excuse my poor english.
