• How to place caption (figure / table) into margin?

  I write thesis and need to put a lot of small pictures into it. I also need to use captions (with labels) for better navigation and referring to these pictures. In the same time I want to spare space and put captions beside (next to) pictures, in margin, like marginpar does. I tried sidecap package but it didn't work, neither mcaption package did help. Maybe using a minipage would solve it, but I would like also to align caption to the middle (vertical align) of picture. Any suggestions?

• How do you handle passwords or credentials for standalone applications?

  Let's say that you have a standalone application (a Java application in my case) and that this application has a configuration file (a XML file in my case) where you store the credentials (user and password) for a bunch of databases you need to connect. Everything works great, but now you discover (or your are given a new requirement like me) that you have to put this application in a different server and that you can't have these credentials in the configuration files because of security and/or compliance considerations. I'm considering to use data sources hosted in the application server (a WAS server), but I think this could have poor performance and maybe it's not the best approach since I'm connecting from a standalone application. I was also considering to use some sort of encryption, but I would like to keep things as simple as possible. How would you handle this case? Where would you put these credentials or protect them from being compromised? Or how would you connect to your databases in this scenario?

  I did find an answer to this title and I did do a little research but I'm still not getting the flow. Here is what I want to happen: 1) click a button on the presenter view to open a modal view. 2) retrieve some value and click a button to close the modal view....sending the value to the presentor view and execute a method. I get that this works like a callback but I still can't figure out where to put the callback stuff. So, how exactly do I do this? A) In the presentViewController completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Or: B) In the modal view's dismissViewControllerAnimated completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Can somebody help me with some sample code? Or at least help me get the flow of which block to put the code in? Thank you, P

• Questions about use lib for perl

  I use use lib "./DIR" to grab a library from a folder elsewhere. However, it doesn't seem to work on my server, but it works fine on my local desktop. Any particular reasons? And one more question, does use lib get propagated within several modules? Two situations: Say I make a base class that requires a few libraries, but I know that it needs to be extended and the extended class will need to use another library. Can I put the use lib command in the base class? or will I need to put it in every extending class? Finally, can I just have a use package where package contains a bunch of use lib, will it propagate the use lib statements over to my current module? <-- I don't think so, but asking anyways Thanks in advance!   I had my static site with which WordPress blogs were integrated. Now I have made a Grails application with which I want to integrate those WordPress blogs. I had put the WordPress folder copied from my previous site to the web-app folder of my Grails application. But I am not able to access the WordPress folder, as when I hit URL - http://localhost:8080/myApplicaiton/wordpress/, it shows this error: Error 500: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out Also, in my urlMappings.groovy one of the mappings I need is "/$generalPageURL"(controller:'myConroller', action:'myAction') And if I put in the above mapping, all requests for WordPress goes to myAction of myController. Is there any way out to still reach the WordPress folder defined inside web-app folder with the above mapping?

  I'm trying to use the jQuery UI Slider with my rails 3 app. I've downloaded a theme and put the css file in app/assets/stylesheet and I put all the images in app/assets/images. When I load a page with a slider, I get an error that it can't find an image: GET http://10.1.10.100:3000/assets/images/ui-bg_glass_45_0078ae_1x400.png 404 (Not Found) That file is in app/assets/images/ and the css file has been edited to point to ../images/<image> Is there something else I need to do to make a jQuery slider work with Rails 3? gist with the files: https://gist.github.com/2355571

• Adding Runtime Intelligence Application Analytics for a library and not an application

  I want to add usage statistics for a .NET 4.0 library I write on CodePlex. I try to follow the step described here but my problem lies with the fact that what I write is a library and not an application. One of the steps is put the Setup and Teardown attributes. I thought about adding the Setup attribute on a static constructor or a different place that will run once per usage of the library. My problem lies with the Teardown attribute that should be placed on code that ends the usage. I don't know where to put this attribute. Is it possible to get usage statistics on a library? Maybe I can register on an event that will fire when the application unloads the dll?

  I have a delegate method with the following tasks: get something from the internet (ex: some image from a web site); process that image in a certain way; display the result in a subview ; getting the image takes some time, depending on the network's speed so the result of its processing is displayed in the subview after that little while. my problem: during the time between getting the image and showing the result the device looks unresponsive. any attempt to put some spinner, or any other method which is called inside this main procedure has no effect until the result is processed. how should I change this behaviour? I would like to put a big spinner during that waiting time. thank you.

I must put my entry python module under the root of the specific folder. • Interface Builder hang up on retina images

  In my app I create 2 folders for images "Standard" and "Retina" where I put a lot of images for my app. When I open one of my xib file, Interface Builder hang up... I found that if I remove Retina Image that is used by this xib, then IB will open xib without any problem... This problem occurs only with 1 xib file, another xib files can be opened without any problems. What can be the reason of hang up? Can image be bad? Or maybe I shouldn't put Retina Images to "Retina" folder? What can be the reason? Thanks...

• Loss of precision - int -> float or double

  I have an exam question i am revising for and the question is for 4 marks "In java we can assign a int to a double or a float". Will this ever loose infromation and why? I have put that because ints are normally of fixed length or size - the precision for sotring data is finite, where storing information in floating point can be infinite, essentially we loose infromation because of this Now i am a little sketchy as to whetehr or not i am hitting the right areas here.   Android 2.1 (not sure how much that matters) My test hardware is a Motorola Droid (not sure how much that matters either) I want to push a bookmark/internet-shortcut to a user's home screen as a result of them clicking on a link - via their browser of choice. I know they can usually set the bookmark themselves and then choose to put it on their home screen. But I'd like to provide a link like "Put a shortcut to this page on your home screen" that takes care of everything kind of in the background/underneath. Is this even possible?   Hey there! I'm trying to write a sync function that saves some data to nodes, which works fine, until I try to save the thumbnail image associated with the node. I've managed to download the file and put it in my sites/default/files folder, but what's the best way to tell Drupal, "put this file in that CCK imagefield"? EDIT To clarify a bit.. I sync the thumbnails separately (since one image can be used by several nodes)... I would like the initial thumbnail sync to save the files in the correct folder (not a temp one) and just point the imagefield to this file... That's what annoys me with field_file_save_file(), it saves a new file instead of just making a pointer.. Any advice?

  Hi, I'm having some issues trying to make a HTTP PUT (or POST) using WebClient against a MVC 2 controller. The exception is: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'total' of non-nullable type 'System.Int32' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Company(System.Guid, Int32, Int32, System.String)' The controller action is: [HttpPut] public ActionResult Company(Guid uid, int id, int total, string url) The route is: routes.MapRoute( "CompanySet", "job/active/{uid}/company/{id}", new { controller = "Job", action = "Company" } ); As you may see, what I want is to send the 'uid' and 'id' parameters via url, but the 'total' and 'url' parameters as part of the PUT or POST body. I've also tried to merge the latter parameters into a class (i.e., CompanySetMessage), doing it no longer raises an exception but I dont receive the values on the server side. Any ideas? Thank you!

  Hi, I'm reading about Azure and there are a couple of things I don't understand: If I choose put a server on Europe, why can't I move it to another datacenter afterwards? If I choose a size for a worker/web role, could I upgrade it to a bigger one afterwards? I think I've read that I cannot put different instances of a worker/web role with different sizes working together? Am I right? And in affirmative case, why?   Spring-data-rest does a great job exposing entities via their primary key for GET, PUT and DELETE etc. operations. /myentityies/123 It also exposes search operations. /myentities/search/byMyOtherKey?myOtherKey=123 In my case the entities have a number of alternate keys. The systems calling us, will know the objects by these IDs, rather than our internal primary key. Is it possible to expose the objects via another URL and have the GET, PUT and DELETE handled by the built-in spring-data-rest controllers? /myentities/myotherkey/456 We'd like to avoid forcing the calling systems to have to make two requests for each update. I've tried playing with @RestResource path value, but there doesn't seem to be a way to add additional paths.

• Doxygen comments on declarations or on definitions?

  Just started using Doxygen for documenting my code here and can't decide where to put them. At first look it seems better to put them in the declaration files as it is there where you actually declare what you receive, what you are going to return and stuff like that, apart from that things like data members that are only in the declaration files can obviously only documented there. But often I find handier to comment methods in the implementation files as they are more accessible to me and the declaration file doesn't get cluttered with dozens of lines of comments making it harder to find what you look for when developing. What is your experience with that?
