  • How should I link two items with MouseMovementListeners?

    I'm working on a program that will display two "views" of the same set of items. So I need to have something set up so that when the top down view is changed, the side view is updated (and vice versa). Here's a brief outline of the relevant code so you can get an idea of my structure so far: public class DraggableComponent extends JComponent { //Contains code for MouseMovementListener that makes the item draggable } public class ItemGraphic extends DraggableComponent { //Code to render the graphic } public class Item { private ItemGraphic topGraphic; private ItemGraphic sideGraphic; } I'm able to get each graphic to display fine in my GUI. I can also independently drag each graphic. I'm missing the "linking." Some ideas I've been thinking about: Have one listener for the whole GUI. Loop through each Item and if the cursor is within the bounds of either graphic, move the other graphic. I'm concerned about the efficiency of this method. Multiple "paired" listeners (not quite sure how this would work, but the idea is that each graphic would have a listener for the other paired graphic)

    I have a listener class that accepts GUI change events in one method. The incoming event objects have a superclass of a type of GUI Event, the behaviour should depend on the dynamic type of the incoming variable. I wanted to do do lots of methods like: handleGUIEvent(EventChangedX event) handleGUIEvent(EventChangedY event) I am using a single event listener and receiving objects of various types but the behaviour should be different for each. What would you do? I do not want to use a switch statement as this would get unmaintainable.

  • Junit 4 test suite and individual test classes

    I have a JUnit 4 test suite with BeforeClass and AfterClass methods that make a setup/teardown for the following test classes. What I need is to run the test classes also by them selves, but for that I need a setup/teardown scenario (BeforeClass and AfterClass or something like that) for each test class. The thing is that when I run the suite I do not want to execute the setup/teardown before and after each test class, I only want to execute the setup/teardown from the test suite (once). Is it possible ? Thanks in advance.

    I'm trying to crop a photo to use in a Live Wallpaper but I'm getting a FileNotFoundException when the crop activity tries to save my new cropped image.     I am using netbean 6.8 btw. Let say that I have 4 different tables: Company, Facility, Project, and Document. So the relationship is this. A company can have multiple facilities. A facility can have multiple projects, and a project can have multiple documents. Company: +companyNum: PK +facilityNum: FK Facility: +facilityNum: PK +projectNum: FK Project: +projectNum: PK +drawingNum: FK So when I create Entity Class From Database in netbean 6.8, I have 4 entity classes that named after the above 4 tables. So if I want to see all the Document in the database, then it is easy. In my SessionBean, I would do this: @PersistenceContext private EntityManager em; List<Document> documents = em.createNamedQuery("Document.findAll").getResultList(); However, that is not all what I need. Let say that I want to know all the Document from a particular Company, or all the Document from a particular Project from a particular Facility from a particular Company. I am very new to JPA + EJB + JSF as a whole. Please help me out.

    I've run into an issue where instanceof works, and then it doesn't. Going into details is difficult, but I think this might be the problem: Reading this: http://www.theserverside.com/news/thread.tss?thread_id=40229 (search for Thread.currentThread), it seems to imply that, even if the two objects are the same class, if you pass them between threads with different class loaders, instanceof (and isAssignableFrom) might still fail. This certainly would explain the behavior I'm having, but I was wondering if anyone could verify it? Now i want to change my code so that my program asks user for names, price and quantity (using the Scanner class). After user enter data, program keep this in three different arrays.   • Determining if a coordinate is on a line

    I´m coding a little app that allows the user to draw multiple shapes and then remove or resize them. It´s working perfectly on rectangles and ovals, but I´m having issues with lines. Here´s a method that I wrote to find if the clicked spot on the screen is part of a specific line: public boolean containsLocation(int x, int y) { int m = (getY2() - getY()) / (getX2() - getX()); int b = getY() - (m * getX()); if (y == (m * x) + b) { return true; } return false; I´m using the famous y = mx + b formula and replacing y and x to find if the clicked spot is part of the line. The problem is when I click on the screen to remove the line, it only works if I click on the very fist coordinate (x,y) where the line starts. Nothing happens when I click anywhere else along the line. Can anyone shed a light on what I´m doing wrong? Thanks a lot.

  • One account, multiple users, multiple shopping cart in a web application

    I received a somewhat unusual request (imo) for a transactional web site. I have to implement the possibility of having multiple shopping cart for the same user. Those really are shopping carts, not order templates. I.E: A store with several departments ordering under the same account, but with a different person placing orders for a specific department only. Having more than one user per account is not an option since it would involve 'too much' management from the stores owner and the admins. Anyone had to deal with this before? The option so far is to have names for shopping cart, and a dropdown list or something alike after login to choose the cart with some kind of 'busy flag' to lock the cart if it's in use in another session.

    Hello everyone, I have two servlets: LoginServlet and MailServlet. LoginServlet queries a mysql table using jdbc to get a string(eMail). What I want is to forward this string to MailServlet which in turn will send an email to that e-mail ID sent by LoginServlet. My question is how do I call and send the variable eMail to MailServlet, from LoginServlet? I thought of creating an instance of the MailServlet as : MailServlet servlet = new MailServlet(); And then use the servlet object to call the function doGet() in MailServlet. But I am feeling that there is some error in this as this is not the right way to call a servlet. So how do I call and pass a variable to MailServlet?

    I have a table DEAL and a table DEAL_TYPE. I would like to map this code: public class Deal { DealType type; } public enum DealType { BASE("Base"), EXTRA("Extra"); } The problem is that the data already exist in the database. And I'm having a hard time mapping the classes to the database. The database looks something like that: TABLE DEAL { Long id; Long typeId; } TABLE DEAL_TYPE { Long id; String text; } I know I could use a simple @OneToMany relationship from deal to deal type, but I would prefer to use an enum. Is this possible? I almost got it working by using a EnumType.ORDINAL type. But unfortunately, my IDs in my deal type table are not sequential, and do not start at 1. Any suggestions?
