  I broke my mysql and now I want to completely reinstall it.   I have installed the lamp-server but i stuck in one certain step.. Were it says remove installation folder if i click the button "Remove installation folder:" it says "error" and i guess this is because it doesn't have root previlages. So i run sudo nautilus go to the folder var/www, and remove the folder installation.. So now when i try to access my localhost No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting... I am confused, it asked me to remove it and now that is removed it needs it..:?

• Keeping up with LibreOffice

  Installing LibreOffice manually on Ubuntu 12.04 works great following the advice in this answer: http://askubuntu.com/a/182602/103893 It basically is a matter of downloading the most recent release from the LibreOffice site and running sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-core and sudo dpkg -i *.deb. Doing the above I installed LibreOffice 3.6.3 and it works great. But what is the best way to uninstall this new version of LibreOffice (for when the next release is coming along)? Trying sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-core will not do anything, and sudo apt-get remove libreoffice3.6 does not seem to remove all packages installed with dpkg...?

• asp.net mvc vs angular.js model binding

  So I've noticed a trend lately of .net web developers using angular.js on the client side of applications and I've become more curious as I play around with angular and compare it to how I would do things in asp.net mvc. I'll give a quick example of what really got me thinking. I recently came across a situation at work (I work in a .net environment) where I needed to create a table bound to a collection of objects that had the ability to add and remove rows/items from the collection. I had an add button that created a new object and appended a row to the end of the table, and a remove button in each row to remove a particular object/row. Using asp.net mvc, I first found myself making an ajax call to the server for each operation, updating the server side model, and refreshing part of the page to show the result in the table. This worked but I didn't really like the idea of calling the server to update the model each time, so I tried to come up with a solution to do this on the client side. It turned out to be quite a task, as I had to generate the html on add with validation and all and the correct indexing for the model binding to work. It got worse on remove, as I ended up with a crazy string replace function to recreate the indexes on each item to satisfy the binding requirements (if an item other than the last is removed, the indexes are no longer correct). Now out of curiosity, I tried to recreate this at home in angular (which I had no experience with) and it took me all of about 10 minutes with simple functions to add and remove items from the client side model. This is just one example, but it seems to me that I'm able to achieve the same results with far fewer calls to the server in angular because of the fact that it binds to a client side model. So my question is, is this a distinct advantage of using a javascript mvc framework or am I somehow under utilizing the power of asp.net mvc and am I right in thinking that these operations should be done on the client and have no business requiring calls to the server?

• Nautilus doesn't allow adding/removing bookmarks

  I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 (actually, I've done two fresh installs, hoping that trying again would get this working). I don't seem to have the ability to add or remove bookmarks from Nautilus. The ones that are there by default (Home, Desktop, Documents, etc.) work fine. I can right click on them and rename them. However, I cannot remove any of them. The option is there "Remove" but disabled/grayed out. The same is true if I try to add bookmarks. I go to "Files - Bookmarks", and all the bookmarks show up, but the buttons at the bottom to add, remove, or re-order the bookmarks are simply disabled. What am I doing wrong?

  I am reading this book, programming Interviews exposed by John Wiley and sons and in chapter 6 they are discussing removing all instances of characters in a src string using a removal string... so removeChars(string str, string remove) In there writeup they sey the steps to accomplish this are to have a boolean lookup array with all values initially set to false, then loop through each character in remove setting the corresponding value in the lookup array to true (note: this could also be a hash if the possible character set where huge like Unicode-16 or something like that or if str and remove are both relatively small... < 100 characters I suppose). You then iterate through the str with a source and destination index, copying each character only if its corresponding value in the lookup array is false... Which makes sense... I don't understand the code that they use however... They have for(src = 0; src < len; ++src){ flags[r[src]] == true; } which is turning the flag value at the remove string indexed at src to true... so if you start out with PLEASE HELP as your str and LEA as your remove you will be setting in your flag table at 0,1,2... t|t|t but after that you will get an out of bounds exception because r doesn't have have anything greater than 2 in it... even using there example you get an out of bounds exception... Am is there code example unworkable?

  I have have a a function that when a checkbox is checked i dynamically write out an li into a ol that is empty. This remove icon has a class of removeIcon which can be seen in the dynamic li above. I have a function that processes the remove call and then does some actions: Code: $('.removeIcon').click(function() { alert("starting"); }); Right now i have the remove action just trying to alert a message that it got called. But it seems that it is not getting into the function. Is there a certain way that i need to access these dynamic li's other then the .click method? I saw this post: Dynamically Inserted DOM Elements are not Clickable using $.click() Where they added .live vs .click but this doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas?

• fedora12, yum not releasing "lock" after performing an action

  Hello, This problem has been occurring quite frequently recently and I can't seem to find a way of preventing it.   This might be a straightforward question, even though I haven't found an easy solution to it: I've implemented my custom UITypeEditor with the sole purpose of adding a PaintValue to bools. For the sake of the discussion, let's assume that PaintValue will either paint a checked or unchecked radiobutton. Question 1: Now, here's the problem: It seems like PaintValue automatically inserts a 20x13px rectangle after all paint code has completed. Naturally, a radiobutton inside a black rectangle is ugly. Can I easily instruct or override this rectagle not to be painted? Question 2: In this respect, is it possible to paint on top of the propertygrid's native look - meaning could I paint something in order to obscure (part of) the black line separating two grid cells vertically? The purpose of doing this would be to indicate that two values were linked, like constrained width/height to an aspect ratio.

• jQuery UI modal dialog box and the close button upper right: how to remove it.

  I need to kill the close 'x' button at the top of the dialog box. I have a modal that opens with an OK button that redirects to the site. The site behind the modal is in an iframe. When the user agrees to the statement in the dialog box and clicks the 'OK' button, it redirects to the site that is outside the iframe. If the user clicks on the 'x', it goes to the iframe site, which I do not want to have happen. I need the modal to work as a one-way to the site it goes to. It basically forces the user to accept the user agreement. I would post code, but its an intranet site. Thanks everyone for your help!
