  • Error "iertutil.dll not found" after installing IE8

    I rolled out IE8 to a group of test users in our organisation overnight, and after logging in in the morning, several of the users reported the error Userinit.exe error and explorer.exe error - iertutil.dll not found After clicking OK, the PC just hangs with the background visible. A few people are reporting this error in various forums, but "do a system restore" is not a good solution. We can easily roll back to IE6 by replacing the DLL, or by uninstalling IE8. We just need a flawless rollout! We're on Windows XP Service Pack 3. Edit: We deploy via SMS. Initially we had 2 machines with the error, but somebody made a mistake with the test package and it rolled out five nights in a row. By the end of the five nights, 4 more machines had developed the same issue.

    Hi, I have a Netware Novell server with an eDirectory and different objects configured. I implemented an OEServer2 SP1 to emulate a DSfW to manage the eDirectory with AD. I join the domain with the Administrator login and I am logged as the Administrator domain. So far, there are no problems. When I open the MMC window on Windows Server 08 and snap in the "Active Directory Users and Computers" I can see all the OUs and objects presented in the Netware N. server. But, when I select some OUs I can have an error, and when I select other I don’t have this error. Error: “Data from XXXXX is not available from Domain Controller OES2.yyyy.local because: The server is unwilling to process the request. Try again later, or choose another DC by selecting Connect to Domain Controller on the Domain context menu.” With XXXX= OU’s name and yyyy.local= domain name and OES2 server name If somebody can upload this SP or post a link to download it...   • Ideal laptop specs for a Computer Science Masters student?

    I have a HP pavillion core 2 duo 2 GHz and 4 GB RAM, and it is painful to use this machine for any kind of coding. Eclipse (especially Juno) literally takes 5 minutes to load. And even after that, everything is lagy. Apart from school stuff, I also use my computer as a television. I watch Hulu, Netflix, YouTube etc in 720p, and this laptop gets hot as hell and the fans are loud enough to wake somebody up from deep sleep. I DON'T use my laptop for Gaming or Video/Photo Editing. I'm looking to buy a new laptop (in which most widely used IDEs would work smoothly and playing hi-def videos wouldn't be too much for the machine to handle) any suggestions (on hardware specs) would be greatly appreciated.   • setup advanced filtering and access restrictions on dd-wrt using iptables

    I have a linksys WRT54GL router with a DD-WRT installed and I want to setup some advanced filtering that seem to not be available through "Access restrictions" web gui option. I guess I would be using IPTABLES then. I have ssh access to router and can run iptables, but I'm not so experienced with iptables. So here are my needs: my policy would be deny all first and then allow exceptions allow all http (port 80) access to WAN through wireless allow all other traffic only to PCs with specific MAC addresses allow internet access to PC with specific MAC address according to schedule (let's say everyday between 18:00-21:00) is this possible to setup with IPtables? could somebody help me a bit with it? or should go and RTFM?

    i created a .bat script to perform daily folder compression. it is working fine when i double click the .bat file. However, it doesnt work when i include it in window scheduler. I was recently browsing through the MSDN product download page and found that SQL server download were available for me without any key required. How is this possible?     I've red this article from howtogeek, but it didn't explain this one which is placed in the target portion when you right click on windows explorer and click properties: %windir%\explorer.exe shell:desktop\Inbox And why does local disk E: shows up when I have this one: %windir%\explorer.exe shell:E:\FINAL SAVE DATA I don't really get the code, especially the part in shell: desktop\Inbox. What's that supposed to mean. How do I change it so that when I click on the Windows Explorer shortcut, I get to see this location: E:\FINAL SAVE DATA

    I have a server running Apache with mod_proxy, a module to use my localhost as a proxy server. When somebody on the same LAN visits my server (my localhost through my lan ip), he/she can see only the .html page loaded into my server. Due to DNS Spoofing restrictions on the client, if he/she clicks on a link that refers to something not on my server, Apache says correctly "Object not found", because the client cannot request the page from the Internet (remember, the DNS is spoofed to my localhost). The question is: how to configure Apache to grab the page in place of the client?

I don't get that: as soon as I open a Webpage, whether it's with Firefox or Chrome (I hate so much IE that I didn't test with it), there are tons of TCP connexions between "localajaxchat" and a supposed google ("1e100") domain. I've already read this topic, but my problem seems strange because there are so many TCP connexions for only one page... I don't get it. If someone could explain this problem to me... Thanks a lot!

    I would like to use a backup tool like Acronis or Crashplan in case I encounter a serious problem with my computer and I want to restore it like it is right now. They both have a free trial of 30 days but they do not seem to explain explicitly what won't be functional after the trial period. Is the restore feature still available after the trial period or must my computer die within the 30 days for this trial to be useful?

    I just recently installed eaccelerator and switched php to dso everything was fine on server Server load was about 1-2 (4 cpus) and after some time server got overloaded (Server load increased to 250) and server stopped. In suphp mode server was overloading by traffic so i decided to switch it to eaccelerator and now i am lost... Can someone explain that?

  • Running a webserver behind a firewall, is it secure?

    Currently we have a Linux-based firewall which NAT-ing our public IP address to give internet access to our staff's PCs and a Windows Server 2003 for internal filesharing. I want to host Redmine/SVN (a bugtracker) internally behind this firewall using a Linux server. This webserver will be accessed by our clients externally so they can post bug reports. This means that I have to open port 80 & 22 at the firewall to give access to the webserver and me to SSH it from home. However, let's say I'm using password-based SSH for the webserver and somebody cracked it. Does that mean the cracker could ping and access other servers and PCs in the network?

  • rsync remote to local automatic backup

    Because all my work is stored on a remote server I would like to auto backup my server monthly and weekly. My server is running Centos 5.5 and while searching the web I'm found a tool named rsync. I got my first update manually by using this command in terminal: sudo rsync -chavzP --stats USERNAME@IPADDRES: PATH_TO_BACKUP LOCAL_PATH_TO_BACKUP I then prompt my password for that user and bob's my uncle. This backups the necessary files from my remote server to my local device but does somebody know how I can automate this? Like automatic running this script every sunday? EDIT I forgot to mention that I let direct admin backup the files I need and then copy those files from the remote server to a local server.

    I would like to print in the command line some output of curl, like the http headers, followed by the body of the answer processed by a stdin/stdout program. For instance: Print the status code: curl -s -w "%{http_code} \\n" -o "/dev/null" http://myURL.com And then process the output with a json parsing tool: curl -s http://myURL.com | python -mjson.tool I would like to do both with one command, and I have the feeling that it may be possible thanks to the -o option that makes the difference between the output of curl and the actual answer from the query. The problem is that -o writes directly to a file. Somebody's got a hack?

  • Why is the size of windows off by 226x238 if defined via the Window Rules?

    I have installed Sawfish 1.8.2 from source on my new Ubuntu 12.04 installation following the Debian instructions, but I had this problem also with the stock 1.5.3. Whenever I define dimensions in the Window Rules for a window, the size is off by exactly 226x238 pixels, which means that 100x100 turns into 326x328. That's a very odd behavior, given that Sawfish is saving and loading the dimensions of the windows correctly (if saved via the window menu). Some additional system information: $ uname -a Linux Dagon 3.2.0-24-generic-pae #39-Ubuntu SMP Mon May 21 18:54:21 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux $ sawfish --version sawfish version 1.8.2 nvidia proprietary driver, 9600GT Two monitors, 1920x1080 + 1440x900 in one session. Positionng the windows is working fine, only the dimensions are off by that odd number. Does somebody have an idea why?

    I'm looking for a definitive answer, does Solaris 10 running on a SPARC machine support booting into 32bit mode? I've found one site that states Solaris 8 was the last version that supported booting in a 32bit mode for SPARC. I've read multiple items that explain how to boot Solaris into 32bit mode, however they did not list the Solaris version. We've tried all the ways specified, but the system keeps booting into 64bit mode.

    In debian/ubuntu I want to a) create a list of all the files in one directory tree b) do the same for a second directory tree c) compare the two lists such that, only the file NAMES are compared (i.e. just comparing the "file.txt" part so that "/home/folder/file.txt" == "/home/secondfolder/folder/file.txt) d) output a list of all the duplicates can anyone please explain how to do this using scripting languages or regex or something?
