  • How do I rename an R object?

    I'm using the quantmod package to import financial series data from Yahoo. library(quantmod) getSymbols("^GSPC") [1] "GSPC" I'd like to change the name of object "GSPC" to "SPX". I've tried the rename function in the reshape package, but it only changes the variable names. The "GSPC" object has vectors GSPC.Open, GSPC.High, etc. I'd like my renaming of "GSPC" to "SPX" to also change GSPC.Open to SPX.Open and so on.

    I've been very happily using PredicateBuilder but until now have only used it for queries with only either concatenated AND statements or OR statements.     I have a directory with files that look like this: 001_something.php 002_something_else.php 004_xyz.php 005_do_good_to_others.php I ultimately want to create a new, empty PHP file whose name starts with the next number in the series. LIST=`exec ls $MY_DIR | sed 's/\([0-9]\+\).*/\1/g' | tr '\n' ' '` The preceding code gives me a string like this: LIST='001 002 004 005 ' I want to grab that 005, increment by one, and then use that number to generate the new filename. How do I do that in BASH?

    Is it possible to display a static line across a chart which appears at a given point on the Y Axis? So say I have a chart which measures test scores, ranges which 0 to 100 which 70% being the pass mark and therefore displaying a straight line across the chart at this point?     Hello, We have a series of products with built in web servers each of which has a login page, a customer wants to create a web portal in which they log into once, from there they can simply click on any of the devices (external websites) and it will automatically login to that site and redirect them to the page after the login screen. The portal is using ASP.NET MVC, the external devices are Windows CE based units running embedded web servers. Can find a lot on scraping, but not much on redirection after the event. I've read and re-read the actual documentation at http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_42_0/libs/spirit/doc/html/index.html and the examples therein. I know Joel is starting a compiler series on the blog http://boost-spirit.com/home/ but that hasn't gotten in full swing yet. Any other resources to see worked examples using some more sophisticated/involved aspects in the context of fully working applications?

    Hi. We are porting a simple Java application between Tandem NonStop systems, from G-Series to H-Series. Java version is 1.5.0_02. When performing basic I/O tasks like getting output stream from or opening a client socket, we receive exceptions like java.io.IOException: Value out of range or java.net.SocketException: Value out of range ("value out of range" is Tandem native jargon for, well, quite everything I suppose). Has anybody got similar issues? i.e. I/O corruption while for example messing with JNI? I suppose there is something wrong with the system, but where might it be? Thank you. Most run-time charting tools generate poor time axes, especially if the time scale is dynamic ie the user may choose to view data over a time scale of days, weeks, months or years. I'm looking for recommended tools that can be integrated into my app. Two that show promise are Chart Director and Google's annotated timeline visualization. Both are quite different in their implementation and have pros/cons.

  • Friction in Box2d

    I am using Box2d for a topdown game. The "ground" is a series of tiles, where each tile is a static body with a sensor shape. Can I make friction take effect for this, even though the objects aren't really "colliding" with the ground? If Box2d won't let me do this, I considered trying to implement my own by detecting what force is currently moving the object, and applying a force opposite to it, but I'm not quite sure how to detect that force.

  • Rush Hour - Solving the game

    Rush Hour if you're not familiar with it, the game consists of a collection of cars of varying sizes, set either horizontally or vertically, on a NxM grid that has a single exit. Each car can move forward/backward in the directions it's set in, as long as another car is not blocking it. You can never change the direction of a car. There is one special car, usually it's the red one. It's set in the same row that the exit is in, and the objective of the game is to find a series of moves (a move - moving a car N steps back or forward) that will allow the red car to drive out of the maze. I've been trying to think how to solve this problem computationally, and I can really not think of any good solution. I came up with a few: Backtracking. This is pretty simple - Recursion and some more recursion until you find the answer. However, each car can be moved a few different ways, and in each game state a few cars can be moved, and the resulting game tree will be HUGE. Some sort of constraint algorithm that will take into account what needs to be moved, and work recursively somehow. This is a very rough idea, but it is an idea. Graphs? Model the game states as a graph and apply some sort of variation on a coloring algorithm, to resolve dependencies? Again, this is a very rough idea. A friend suggested genetic algorithms. This is sort of possible but not easily. I can't think of a good way to make an evaluation function, and without that we've got nothing. So the question is - How to create a program that takes a grid and the vehicle layout, and outputs a series of steps needed to get the red car out? Sub-issues: Finding some solution. Finding an optimal solution (minimal number of moves) Evaluating how good a current state is Example: How can you move the cars in this setting, so that the red car can "exit" the maze through the exit on the right?

    Hi there. What I'm trying to accomplish is to make a series of 3 web parts. One that acts as a provider, second - consumer of a first web part and at the same time a provider for a third web part, third web part - consumer of the second. When overriding the EnsureInterfaces Method the second parameter is InterfaceType and I'm able to enter InterfaceTypes.ICellConsumer OR InterfaceTypes.ICellConsumer. Is it possible to make the second web part act both as a provider and a consumer?

  • Regex to match 0 - 999 but not blank

    I'm working on a regex to match valid integer numbers such as the following: 0 1 99 999 However it should not allow matching an empty string. The closest I can get is: (0)|\\d{1,3} Which to me says a matching string will have either a zero or a series of digits between 1 and 3 characters long. However, empty strings still appear to match this pattern. What's the proper way to exclude empty strings from this regex?
