    I need to catch segmentation fault in third party library cleanup operations. This happens sometimes just before my program exits, and I cannot fix the real reason of this. In Windows programming I could do this with __try - __catch. Is there cross-platform or platform-specific way to do the same? I need this in Linux, gcc.

    Hi there, I'm building a system that tracks and verifies ad impressions and clicks. This means that there are a lot of insert commands (about 90/second average, peaking at 250) and some read operations, but the focus is on performance and making it blazing-fast. The system is currently on MongoDB, but I've been introduced to Cassandra and Redis since then. Would it be a good idea to go to one of these two solutions, rather than stay on MongoDB?     Hi all, I'm writing a Python+Qt4 application that would ideally need to pop up a window every once in a while, to display pdf documents and allow very basic operations, namely scrolling through the different pages and printing the document. I've found the reportLab to create pdf files, but nothing about pdf viewers.     By "durable" I mean, the server can crash at any time, and as long as the disk remains in tact, no data is lost (see ACID). Seems like that's what journaling mode is for, but if you enable journaling, doesn't that defeat the purpose of operating on in-memory data? Read operations might not be affected by journaling, but it seems like journaling would kill your write performance.

  • Django ORM leaves opened connections

    I'm using django ORM with Postgres. After any operations with models (e.g. simple select) in postgres appears new opened connection in IDLE state. I've tried all possible transaction manipulations, I've tried calling connection.close() manually. All useless. And sooner or later, I'm recieveing "FATAL: connection limit exceeded for non-superusers" message. What can I've made wrong?

From some research i did my problem is unique to my case so i decided to create a new question. Please go read that question before continuing with this one as they are closely related. Running the proposed code blocks the program at the waitFor invocation. After some research i found that the waitFor method blocks if your process has output that needs to be proccessed so you should first empty the output stream and the error stream. I did those things but my method still blocks. I then found a suggestion to simply loop while waiting the exitValue method to return the exit value of the process and handle the exception thrown if it is not, pausing for a brief moment as well so as not to consume all the CPU.   • Silverlight P2P App (In Browser) - Will we get RTMFP?

    Ok so from all my research I'm fairly positive P2P is not possible in Silverlight 4 (in browser). Flash can do P2P using Stratus/RTMFP which I believe uses UDP hole punching and a Stratus server to help initialize the connection. Is there any plans for Microsoft to add some kind of p2p rendezvous service in the future? Can we get a definitive yes/no on whether or not p2p is possible in SL4.
