• How to drag and scroll in a div with jQuery

  Hey guys, I've been looking around for some time now, but I can't find a way to combine these elements: I want a 100% width div, with 1 row of elements. I need to scroll through this div, just like: http://jqueryfordesigners.com/demo/scrollable-timelines.html So with a hidden overflow and such. But now I want some sort of smooth ease when I let go of the mouseclick, so it'll be like a sort sweep. So when I drag the screen from left to right, and let go of the mouse, it'll move on for 1 sec and linearly slowing down. Hm, am I making sense? Does anyone know of any scripts or some tips to put me back on track? Don

• European signs in img src problem

  Hey. I recently encountered a strange problem on my website. Images with æ ø and å in them (Western European signs) Won't display. The character encoding on all sites is "Iso-8859-1" I can print æ ø and å on the page without problems. If I right click the "broken image" and choose properties, it displays the filename with the european signs. (/admin/content/galleri/å.jpg) the code for img looks like this <img name='bilde' src='content/{$_SESSION["linkname"]}/{$row["img"]}' class='topmargin_ss leftmargin_ms rightmargin_s' width='80' height='80'> (Wasn't allowed to post images so the code is without starting and ending brackets) Made 4 files: z.jpg æ.jpg ø.jpg å.jpg Only z.jpg shows up, they are the exact same jpg. The images are uploaded using php code, which works, uploads to the right directory and has no problem with the european signs. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

• New to javascript, why is jQuery such a beast?

  Hey Everyone, I'm new to javascript (functional programming is okay for me, though) and I am wondering how jQuery got away with some of the design decisions they made. Is it just too much work to fix now or what? For instance, there seems use of strange symbols in strings when accessing elements in the DOM or weird function definitions for $, that are forcing me to check references every other time I want to get some basic data. Can someone point me to a learning source where I can learn all of these nuances of jQuery (jQuery's examples just don't cut it, they're too spread out)? Maybe someone has a super good reference site/pdf for jQuery? Thanks

• Foreach File in a Folder in Flash?

  Hey, I have an image slideshow program working right now and it takes in a folder of a hard coded in number of images. I would like to change this so that it can take in a folder and will display all of them no matter the number. Is there a way to do this in flash? I'm thinking something like the foreach loop in perl or other scripting language. It is possible to store then number of images in a text file but I also don't know how to read that in flash either. I'm working in actionscript 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Mike

  Hey everyone, I made sure there wasn't a similar discussion before posting but forgive me if I am mistaken. Question: Can I use Indefero - http://www.indefero.net/ - with SVN on a linux server if I do not have any sort of web interface installed for Apache? Instead, I want to use Indefero with SVN by just using the svnserve server. From my readings, I'm not finding this exact situation mentioned anywhere, so I'm doubting if this configuration is possible. Forgive my ignorance; Thanks. :) EDIT: the svnserve server and Indefero installation will be running on the same machine.

  Hey. I am trying to make an integer match another integer by adding a number to one of them. I have tried several loop types, but none has worked.   Hey Few Questions 1.Is it legal to have an IFrame on a website which inside has an external website? 2.In an IFrame is it possible to only show a section of the src that isnt the top left of the site (for instance if there was a chart in the middle of a website, could u have just the chart in your Iframe, or atleast start it centred there) 3.Any way to stop my IFrame from auto redirecting me to the external site for 3: ie <iframe src="http://fifa.com"></iframe> Just sends me to fifa instead of actually showing that site in a frame.

  Hey everyone, If my table looks like this: id | colA | colB | colC =========================== 1 | red | blue | yellow 2 | orange | red | red 3 | orange | blue | cyan What SELECT query do I run such that the results returned are: blue, cyan, orange, red, yellow Basically, I want to extract a collective list of distinct values across multiple columns and return them in alphabetical order. I am not concerned with performance optimization, because the results are being parsed to an XML file that will serve as a cache (database is hardly updated). So even a dirty solution would be fine.   Hey guys, I'm new to Django and jQuery, but I have a lot of python experience. I'm basically trying to write an HTML form, with one text box for now, that as you type in it, shows you auto completion options. this will be used for finding restaurants, and I intend to use the Yelp API for that. can someone please point me out in a direction of a tutorial on how to do this - specifically with regards to the Django / HTML / jQuery rather than how to work with the Yelp API? Are there any tutorials I should read? All tutorials I have found are very basic ones that build forms from the Django data models.. Thanks!

Some nodes will be good XML and will go into an XElement, however, some will not. In the CATCH, I'd like to now only catch the standard XmlException stuff... I'd also like to catch an extract of the current Xml and a string. However, if I do any kind of READ operation on the node before I pass it to the XElement, it moves the reader forward. How can get a "snapshot" of the contents of the OuterXml of the reader without interfering with it's position?

  Hey, recently I started working on a webpage that has a datagrid. I understand how to add datasources and that sort of thing, or at least I am starting to get it. But my question is about manipulating individual rows or cells. Is that only possible during the databind event handler, that is the only place I have been able to do it so far. I am sure there is a more abstract way of doing the things I want to do, but there are times where I just want to say Datagrid.add(row). I mean, if the datagrid is made up of a certain object type, can I make a new object of that type and just chuck it on the end? I am still new to this stuff, so perhaps what I want to do would defeat the purpose of this added abstraction, but figured I would ask around. Thanks for any advice, tips, or tricks people feel like sharing. Edit: for clarification I am using c#, entity framework, asp.net, and an SQL database.

But if i try this with os.path.exists and os.path.join and get in trouble when german umlauts occur in the directory path: #the direcory coming from the user input in the QLineEdit #i take this QString to the local 8-Bit encoding and then make #a string from it target_dir = str(lineEdit.text().toLocal8Bit()) #the file name that should be checked for file_name = 'some-name.txt' #this fails with a UnicodeDecodeError when a umlaut occurs in target_dir os.path.exists(os.path.join(target_dir, file_name)) How would you check if the file exists, when you might encounter german umlauts?

  Hey guys, When using the Facebook Connect AS API, the user will be prompted to log in to FB in a pop up window. At this point I want to block interaction in my flash movie and wait for them to complete logging in (or potentially close/cancel and not log in). I have seen examples where people put up a Flex "Alert" box with some hint like "Press ok once you have logged into facebook", but I want to automatically listen for them logging in or canceling/closing the popup window without logging in. Is there an event I can listen for with flash? So far I am using ZERO javascript, but I guess I could add a little if it is needed for this... I definitely want to avoid having some sort of "Press OK" alert box, but instead have the flash application automatically react to the user logging in with the popup window.

• How to get X,Y,Z rotations of vertices on a sphere at the origin?

  Hey, I have a sphere in my game world and i would like to place a plane at each vertex on this sphere for debugging purposes. The planes should be orientated so that they lie flat against the sphere (perpendicular to the normals). The sphere is located at the origin, so all the vertices are relative to that. If my thinking is correct, i should be able to do this using the positions of the vertices and some simple trigonometry. I have tried a few combinations but have had no joy yet. I would greatly appreciate some help on this. Thanks.   Hey, I need to select 10 products and display them. Each product has 3 different prices. The select to get the prices looks like this: SELECT * FROM products_loans WHERE CODE IN('10X15/12', '10X15/Q10-10', '10X15/Q20-10') AND 550 BETWEEN PRICE_FROM AND PRICE_TO; Where 550 is the base price. Now this select returns 3 rows, but I want to modify it so it will return 30 results. I dont like the idea to execute 10 queries at once. I know I can easily achieve that with "OR", but I would like to ask if there is some other more elegant way to this. The select "should" look like this: SELECT * FROM products_loans WHERE KOD IN('10X15/12', '10X15/Q10-10', '10X15/Q20-10') AND (550, 325, 780) BETWEEN CENA_OD AND CENA_DO; Note that there is no "price" column or anything in the table which I could use to do a JOIN and I cant modify the table.

• Drupal: Programmatically saving imagefield images

  Hey there! I'm trying to write a sync function that saves some data to nodes, which works fine, until I try to save the thumbnail image associated with the node. I've managed to download the file and put it in my sites/default/files folder, but what's the best way to tell Drupal, "put this file in that CCK imagefield"? EDIT To clarify a bit.. I sync the thumbnails separately (since one image can be used by several nodes)... I would like the initial thumbnail sync to save the files in the correct folder (not a temp one) and just point the imagefield to this file... That's what annoys me with field_file_save_file(), it saves a new file instead of just making a pointer.. Any advice?

• Firefox HTML5 video playback inconsistancy

  Hey all, I've got an HTML5 video on a page. When tested locally, Chrome, Safari, and Opera work beautifully. Firefox plays it, but doesn't loop as efficiently as the others. The real problem is when it's tested off a server. Firefox doesn't play the video, but recognizes there is one there. I was wondering if all that open ended three-different-ways syntax can be swung in Firefox's favor. Thanks!
