• Reporting on release changes when using JIRA, Ivy and SVN

  Hey guys, We have an Ivy release procedure where resolve our dependancies using Ivy pre-tagging which means that we can pull in changes for releases by other members of the team that we are not expecting We want to generate reports and track changes to dependancies between releases but there doesn't seem to be an easy way of doing this without a significant effort. We also want to generate a JIRA list of all changes not only in the main project but in dependancies that we own. This is an extension of the problem above. Otherwise we simply don't know what we are releasing - any ideas?!

Now normally in C# I would do something like this employeesCollection.Where(emp => emp.Name == "john"); how can I do something similar in Ruby on Rails (I am trying to map a collection of objects to a select but I only want to map certain objects that match a condition. • Benefit of outputting JSON as opposed to plain HTML

  Hey guys, Just wondering which is best here. I want to output data from a table in my DB then put a lot of this data into a html table on the fly on my page. Im working with Java on the server side. Basically I pull the results form the DB and have the raw data..just what next? There is a chance I may want to take data from multiple tables in order to combine it into one table for my site. I retrieve the results of the query from the DB, now do i create a text from it in the form of json which i can parse as json using jquery upon the return of the object to my browser?(kind of a sub question of this question: Is just using a stringbuilder the correct way to make a json object to output?) Or.. Should i build the HTML as a string and output that to the browser instead? Which is better and why? Thanks in advance!

• how have defined connection within function for pdo communication with DB

  hey guys I just started trying to convert my query structure to PDO and I have come across a weird problem. When I call a pdo query connection within a function and the connection is included outside the function, the connection becomes undefined. Anyone know what I am doing wrong here? • A Good Final High School AP Computer Science Programming Project?

  Hey guys this question might seem very specific but I am in need of some ideas for a project to do for my last month or so in my AP Computer Science class. I've been looking at some college final ideas and a lot of them just seem plain boring. At first I thought about writing a IRC client in JAVA but I wouldn't really be learning anything "new" that would help me in the future. Then I thought about doing IPhone/touch apps (I don't have an adroid phone and I can easily get my hands on an itouch) but I would need ideas to make apps for that. I want to do something that is going to feel trivial and need some explanation but will also help me in the long run learning new concepts in computer science. If you guys could help out I would greatly appreciate it. I really only have a month to do this project so try to keep the project inside of that range. Also, I don't mind learning new languages.   Hey, I'm making an e-shop and to display the tree of categories and all the products with their multiple variations of prices I made like more than 150 mysql_query("SELECT ..."); queries on one page. (If I count the "while" loops). Is it too many, and if yes, can it have any negative effect? (ofc. it takes longer to load the data ..) • Android Reading from an Input stream efficiently

  Hey, I am making an HTTP get request to a website for an android application I am making. I am using a DefaultHttpClient and using HttpGet to issue the request. I get the entity response and from this obtain an InputStream object for getting the html of the page. I then cycle through the reply doing as follows: BufferedReader r = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputStream)); String x = ""; x = r.readLine(); String total = ""; while(x!= null){ total += x; x = r.readLine(); } However this is horrendously slow. Is this inefficient? I'm not loading a big web page - www.cokezone.co.uk so the file size is not big. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks Andy

  Hey guys, i was searching SO for help on this, but i can't seem to find a concrete solution. Is, or isn't it possible to connect to a mysql database with Cocoa? Because i'm working on a program that i'd like to extend to a database, but i sure as hell don't know how! I mean, that cocoa-mysql package is heavily outdated, and i dont even know what a C wrapper is! Can someone please tell me how to do this, or atleast burst my bubble to tell me that it can't be done?   Hey, say I have a text node via XPath. How would I replace the text node with a new DOM node? For example, this little patch of code will go through text nodes, and if text matches something, it will replace it with a corresponding image via img element.   Hey. I'm new to databases, and I've read various threads about which is better between InnoDB and MyISAM. It seems that the debates are to use or the other. Is it not possible to use both, depending on the table? What would be the disadvantages in doing this? As far as I can tell, the engine can be set during the CREATE TABLE command. Therefore, certain tables which are often read can be set to MyISAM, but tables that need transaction support can use InnoDB. I'm sure there must be a problem, otherwise this would be the ultimate answer :).

'System.Windows.Forms.ListView' does not contain a definition for 'SelectedIndex' and no extension method 'SelectedIndex' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Windows.Forms.ListView' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Any ideas why? First time I have tried to use SelectedIndex, not sure if i am using it correctly?

  Hey guys, I don't think I'm getting it right. Here is my most recent query that I believe is almost working. SELECT max(sender_id) as sender_id, subject, MAX(id) as message_id, MAX(created_at) as updated_at FROM messages where (recipient_id = #{current_user} and recipient_deleted = 'f') or sender_id = #{current_user} GROUP BY subject ORDER BY max(created_at) DESC ; Basically the goal is to fetch all recent messages of a user, group them by subject, and make sure that the photo that is showing up is the other party's photo, never the current user. (also need the most recent message body and message count but that is for another time) Here is what I think is wrong. doing max(sender_id) is wrong, since the current_user id could be higher than the sender's id. I am using the sender_id in the html page to fetch the user's photo.

• Codeigniter form action with slashes instead of normal GETs?

  Hey, so this is one of those questions that seems obvious, and I'm probably going to feel stupid, but here goes: I'm doing a CodeIgniter site with a search. Think of a Google type input, where you'd search for "white huskies." I have a search results page that takes a URI (MySite.com/dogs/white huskies), and takes the third part, and performs the search on that term. I'd like this to be done in the URI, and no by POST so my users can bookmark results. The problem I'm having is how to get that search button directed to Mysite.com/dogs/WHATEVER IS IN THE INPUT. How do I get the what is in the input part into the anchor href? I know I could do this with javascript, but I've heard it's bad practice to force people to have javascript for things this small.   Hey, OK i want to start writing platform independent and open source code (mostly C++). What do i have to consider when doing so? Stop using IDEs and better use makefiles from now on? What do all the "professional" open source coders do (like the guys behind GNU) and what tools do they use? I'm special interested into developing shared libraries. How do you get the cross platform (so working as ".so" on Linux and as ".dll" on Windows)?   Hey guys just installed everything to my app tried to push but no messages appear the token for my device is saved so thats working, when i push the website says it sent but no message on device. Right now im using production certificate for push notification with a developer pervision and not the distrubution certificate. I tried cleaning the build and reinstalling but no luck since an extra app was installed from the same one. I used the code that is on the sample file tutorial i think thats all the detail dont know what to do next.

Actually, I'm only trying to remove any linebreaks/tabs and comments from the file. the following works for me: $regex = array('{\t|\r|\n}', '{(/\*(.*?)\*/)}'); echo preg_replace($regex, '', file_get_contents($file)); But I'd like to do it in a single multiline regex, like this: $regex = <<<EOF {( \t | \r | \n | /\*(.*?)\*/ )}x EOF; echo preg_replace($regex, '', file_get_contents($file)); However, this does not do anything at all. Is there any way to do this? Regards, x3ro Edit: Ok, so I'll take a look at existing minifiers, but it still leaves me with the question how I would do a multiline regex like this, because with the x-modifier multiline regexs should work fine even in php, shouldn't they?

• Calling an svn update from a php script via a browser is not working

  Hey guys, I have two scripts. running an update and calling shell_exec('svn update') and shell_exec('svn st') running a mysqldump shell_exec('mysqldump params') The svn script is not running the update command, the svn st is printing results but not the svn update I tried to declare parameters when calling svn update eg 'svn update ' . dir . ' --username myuser --password mypasswd --non-interactive'; -- still nothing Played with most of the params If this is something related to binaries/permissions/groups, I don't see it. The mysqldump command works fine and is producing a file, so why isn't the svn updating the filesystem? Please do not advise using core SVN classes in PHP. This is not an option, I don't have complete control over the server and the module is not available. Thanks for your help, -hbt PS: important thing to mention here. The scripts works when called via the command line. It only fails when called via a web browser.

• Linq to Sql: Update Entity throug a new Object

  Hey Guys I'd like to update an entity via linq, but since I edit the entity in a view after serializing it, I don't have direct access to the entity inside the data context. I could do it like this: entity.property1 = obj.property1; entity.property2 = obj.property2; ... thats not cool... not cool at all. Next thing I tried is to do it via .attach() like so: context.Table.attach(entity, obj); doesn't work either. So is there another option short of reflection?

  Hey, I have one document under ~/my_files/test.tex and want to include in test.tex some styling informations, which can be found under ~/latex/styles/info_hypersetup.tex. When I include the following statement into my test.tex: %% setting the infos for the pdf \include{home/helex/latex/styles/info_hypersetup.tex} I get the following error when running pdflatex test.test: ! I can't write on file `~/latex/styles/info_hypersetup.tex.aux'. I set the rights to 777 but this doesn't changed anything. It works, if I put info_hypersetup.tex in the directory-structure where test.tex is. But I want to use this styleinformation as a global setting for all my documents and don't want to copy it into every project. Thanks for your help.

  Hey guys, I would like to write a small C++ app and run it on chrome using the native client API. I have a few questions though: 1) I compiled the examples on Ubuntu and ran the code on firefox but can't run it on chrome (using version 5.0.342.7 beta) Do I need to install something? An extension/plugin? 2) I can't find a single online application I could run? Links anyone, I want to see the power of this thing without having to compile the code locally.
