• Actionscript 3 svg XML parsing bug?

  Hey I get two different results when using the for each loop below. • Firefox HTML5 video playback inconsistancy

  Hey all, I've got an HTML5 video on a page. When tested locally, Chrome, Safari, and Opera work beautifully. Firefox plays it, but doesn't loop as efficiently as the others. The real problem is when it's tested off a server. Firefox doesn't play the video, but recognizes there is one there. I was wondering if all that open ended three-different-ways syntax can be swung in Firefox's favor. Thanks! • How to have Load balanced web services sending messages with nservicebus to multiple subscribers ?

  I have load balanced web servers, that with the existing code base, handles when a user logs into the site. I would like to send a broadcast message to any applications that have subscribed saying 'hey x logged in' ? So have many web servers and many applications subscribing. How does discovery work/configuration work with nservicebus ? Should each application know about each web server and subscribe individually or is this where the distributer comes in, so web servers all send to the 1 distributer and all application subscribe to single distributer and the distributer relays the message ? • MonoRail - Clearing value on edit form submission doesn't trigger validation

  Hey, In a MonoRail app I have an add/edit view. On add if I don't pick a value for a dropdown I get a validation error and am forced to pick a value. However, if I then edit that same item and reset the dropdown back to the first item ("Select an Item", "0"), it saves and doesn't say it was invalid. Debugging the entity sent back to the server, I can see that it's sending the original value for the dropdown instead of the new value of "0". What's going on here? The first thing I would expect is that it would trigger the validation since the dropdown value isn't set. The second thing I would expect is that it would send the new value I send, not the original. It does send the new value if I change it to another value, but it's as if it has internal logic that says - "I'm updating this entity and a new value was not passed, just don't change the entity value." • Joomla and PHPBB3 integration

  Hey folks, I'm on a current web project, on which there's a working PHPBB3 installation in (root)/phpbb3 All other files of the page are directly on (root)/ and are manually programmed. now I have to refactor the whole page with Joomla and want to integrate the PHPBB3 directly into the main page, so that header, menu and footer of the joomla page are still beeing displayed, only the content shall be the PHPBB. There are no further log in mechansims on my page, so this is not an issue. It's just about an optical integration of the board into the page...is this possible? If yes, how? • jQuery: How to find elements *without* a class set

  Hey jQuery clever peeps, Why does this fail... $( 'div.contactAperson input' ).not( 'input.hadFocus' ).focus(function() { $(this).attr('value', '' ); }); ...it's meant to sniff out input's that have not got the class .hadFocus and then when one of that subset receives focus it should zap the value to null. Right now, input values are always getting zapped -- the test .not( 'input.hadFocus' ) is failing to stop execution. Any ideas?

  Hey! I'm using CakePHP to build a site which has a crawler that mines data from different sites. The problem is that I would like to be able to call the crawler from command line (since it can take hours for it to finnish) and I would like to the use models in CakePHP when saving the data. Is there a file I could just include that includes the rest for me? If I just include the index.php it dispatches the call which I don't want. Regards Nicklas

I want to count the number of times b element is present (its variable) And i want this count before parsing, so that I can declare an array of appropriate size. One way is to run count then separately and other way is dynamic array (List Array) Is there any other better way to do this?   Hey Guys, i hope someone can help me out on this one here. I use several associative arrays in my php application and i'm using to php documentor to comment my sources. I never really did specified comments for the arrays in an array, but now i need to do that and dont know how. $array = array('id' => 'test', 'class' => 'tester', 'options' => array('option1' => 1, 'option2' => 2)) So how do i comment this array in the correct way for @var and @param comments? I could do this like this, but dunno, if this is correct: @param string $array['id'] @param string $array['class'] @param int $array['options']['option1'] But how to this for the var part? • PHP/MySQL - Special characters in URLs. How to avoid?

  Hey everyone, My database contains information extracted from an external feed. In this raw text feed, the following text is used in place of special characters: & - &amp; ' - &39; é - &eacute; I extract some of this text to form URLs. For example, a URL that I construct from data containing these characters might look like this: http://url.com/search/?brand=Franklin&Hédgson's I use the GET variables in this URL to construct further lookups, which leads to a couple of specific problems: The é and ' characters are sent back to MySQL as they appear, and so they don't trigger any results (because the characters take the full HTML form in the database text). The & within the URL separates the variable, and the GET returns only Franklin, when it should return the whole string. Are there any straightforward ways of dealing with this? Thanks.

  Hey Guys, I'm looking for a way to put real time features into my web site. The idea is asynchronous communication between 2 people - like a chat session. If I use the chat example - I'd like the second person to know that the first one has sent a message to him, without refreshing or doing something active on the web page. • PHP Path issue running backticks/exec()

  Hey all I'm trying to run a java jar file from the command line and within the the execution it gives a path. Withing this path their are spaces and this is causing the issue. ie $f = `java -jar /OCR/ocr.jar /Folder/Sub Folder/filetoocr.pdf /ocr/output.txt`; echo "<pre>$output</pre>"; If you can see the space in between the Sub Folder name causes the issue. By command line it would be (which works) java -jar /OCR/ocr.jar /Folder/Sub\ Folder/filetoocr.pdf /ocr/output.txt any suggestions how I can resolve this ?? Hope you can advise

• jQuery Dialog open hides background content in IE7

  Hey all, I'm working on an application where the page layout is essentially a bunch of absolutely positioned containers. There is a header, sidebar and content area. The content area has its own header and footer which are fixed on the screen. The main part of the content area scrolls but nothing else does. So, we are using jQuery dialog for popup boxes and in IE7 with this new layout when i open a dialog the rest of my content in the background vanishes. I'm left with the page header and the footer of the content area and that's it. In Firefox and believe it or not IE6 it works fine. We are using ie7.js in ie6 though to make things not suck. Anyone have any clue why opening a dialog in jquery would screw up absolute positioning and make stuff vanish?

• Tooltip equivalent for touch devices?

  Hey folks, Touch devices are on the rise. More and more website developers try to optimize their pages for those devices. Until recently the most common solution was to build a mobile version for the website. But with tablets this will most likely change to adjusting the original pages to be touch compatible. One big issue I encountered are tooltips. There are some websites and web applications relying heavily on storing important informations in some kind of tooltip triggered by hovering the mouse arrow over some interface element - which does not exist on touch devices. So what do you think is a good universal way to adopt these pages without redesigning the site from scratch? Does this universal way even exist? My first idea was a tiny touchable question mark but this would hardly be big enough for a finger.

• Weird Jquery/CSS Menu Issue

  Hey All, I have a jquery drop down menu with jquery and css to style it. However, every time you hover over the menu options and go back and forth, it seems to leave pieces of the menu left over. Any ideas where this is coming from and how to get rid of it? • Using the .where method in Rails3

  Hey Guys, I've just started using the .where method, and I'm a little bit confused about how to fully utilize it. I'd like to do something like: @books = Book.where(:author_id => 1 || 2) clearly I know that doesn't work, but I'm trying to demonstrate that I want some extra logic here. some "or" "and" "does not equal" etc. Any ideas for where I can research this? I was looking in the rails API but I didnt see anything that was that helpful. Thanks!

So in the code below, I replaced http://www.google.com with https://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=VPVRIsnRz9IX4CAab7brert3jHiEs <div class="apple_overlay black" id="Overlay1" <iframe src ="http://www.google.com" width="100%" height="595px" frameborder="0" </iframe </div When I replace the code, as soon as I load the page, even before I click on the link to open the overlay - the page gets redirected to the twitter URL. Let's say i do have this setup: public class Point { public float X; public float Y; } public class Control { protected Point m_Position = new Point(); public Position { get { return m_Position; } set { m_Position = value; } // reorganize internal structure.. reorganize(); } protected reorganize() { // do some stuff } } This is all fine, but when it comes to usage, i could write something like: Control myControl = new Control(); myControl.Position.X = 1.0f; The thing is, my Control class wont recognize that the Position has been changed because set hasn't been called.   Hey Guys, i have a big Problem with jQuery UI Datepicker. I have two Input Fields "From Date" and "To Date". When i choose a From Date - a Daterange of only 5 Days should appear on the "To Date" Picker. I used the Code from "Russ Cam" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/330737/jquery-datepicker-2-inputs-textboxes-and-restricting-range It worked perfect. Now my Problem: I have a second Calendar which is INLINE, means no Input Fields - it's shown directly on the Page - with "From Date" and "To Date". In this Calendar the Script does not work! All Fields in "From Date" and in the "To Date" are available - no Date Range Restrictions or something else. What's wrong here? Can someone give me a hint?

• CodeIgniter Validation in Library does not accept callback.

  Hey guys, my problem is the following: I am writing a login library. This library has a function _validation() and this uses the validation library to validate the data. With using normal validation methods it works just fine, but using a callback function just does not work. It is not called. I call it like this. $this->CI->form_validation->set_rules('user', 'Username', 'required|callback__check_user'); The functions name is _check_user and it uses the username _check_user($user). The function itself works fine and I can also call it in the class ($this-_check_user('username')) with a working result. I am guessing, there might be a problem because I am not workin in a controller so I have a CI instance $this-CI instead of just the original instance $this- Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?
