  Can someone explain to me how to easily setup a centos 5 (64bit) dns server? I want to use this strictly for dns for my clients who require rdns (ptr) for their domains. I do have IP delegation/authority from the data center and allocated IPs directly from ARIN. I just want to setup a Centos 5 box to use strictly as a dns server, perhaps with redundancy with a secondary, clustered (or not) dns server Server 1 = dns1.mycompany.com Server 2 = dns2.mycompany.com Then, I need simply instructions on how to create rdns records for clients upon request, especially in bulk amounts. • LSI SAS 1064E drivers for Server 2012

  I have a need to place Windows Server 2012 onto a Sunfire X4100 blade server that contains a LSI SAS 1064e RAID controller (2006). The LSI site only has drivers up to server 2008 R2. I did attempt to install server 2012 hoping it might contain generic MS Drivers (I was dreaming, I know). That failed. I attempted to load external LSI drivers for server 2008. That failed as well. Am I out of luck, or did I miss something? Thanks in advance.

  Recently our web-server crashed and we had to recover everything from a backup which took the whole day(totally unacceptable in our business). So my question is, how can I create a complete mirror of the server that I can use (switch dns to) in case the same disaster happens in the future? Our main server is on Amazon with Windows 2008/IIS + Postgresql 9.1. I was thinking on creating the same server on a different location as a complete mirror with the database replication. But I'm not sure how to implement IIS instance mirroring over the internet... So my question is, how can I create a complete mirror of the server that I can use (switch dns to) in case the same disaster happens in the future?

• Looking for FTP server that allows user management from database

  I'm planning a server application that will handle files uploaded via FTP. The application must parse text documents that it receives and write them to a database (most likely a document-oriented database like Mongo). And the application must also relay all large binary files it receives to Amazon S3 for storage and hosting. I'd like to manage all aspects of the FTP server programmatically. For example, when a user registers via a web page the application should be able to create the user account in the database and provision a directory on the server for receiving files. I'm using a Linux server but am otherwise open to considering any programming language or framework. I experimented with VSFTPD but didn't like the way the application relies on config files and the creation of users and directories via the command line. Can someone please recommend what server framework I should consider? I'm a little biased toward solutions that leverage Javascript/Nodejs or Python. However, I'm open to anything that can run on a Linux box.

The problem with that is that I use my laptop outside my home network and I need to switch it back to automatic. This server is used almost exclusively for inbound connections. It hosts a web server (IIS 6), SQL server, and file server (via LAN UNC paths and mapped drives). How do I make best use of inbound bandwidth across both NICs? For example, if I connect to it by hostname and one of the interfaces has high traffic, I'd like the new connection to use the other interface.

  I have pc server running asp that we use locally for our work that we have several PC's connected to it, and all works ok with this and we can run the sites locally ok. But I would also like to connect our mac to this server so we can also then use Dreamweaver on. I can access the server via the mac and Dreamweaver but when I set up a site(s) via DW using the same settings as we do on a PC and then run locally the site fails.   I'm looking for a Windows based SMTP Relay Server which allows me to add a specific BCC field to all outgoing emails that relayed through this server. The reason for such requirement is that we need to track if the email is actually sent. We're sending our email to end users via our cooperate email server. Currently we're receiving complaint that our end users did not receive our emails, but we don't have access to the email server's log. At the same time, our developers are using a specific library which doesn't allows adding BCC, or it's much more tedious to do so than replacing our SMTP Relay with one that add BCC. Now i want to keep this server cause i am running from there an application that 20 users access but also i want to add a new Windows 2008 R2 64 bit server as a domain controller. Is this possible ? 1-It is ok to make the new windows 2008 server a domain controller ? 2- I want all the users accounts to be the same in the domain controller so they can still use the same username and password to login into the domain as well into the windows 2000 server that is setup as a Workgroup. 3- Do i need to do something to the windows 2000 sever to still be functional in the environment so it can be accessed by the clients computers? note:My clients computers are windows 2000 pro, xp pro and windows 7 32/64 bit.   Hi, We're migrating an existing IIS website + MS SQL 2005 database (on the same server) to a new test set-up. The existing set-up is too slow. I want one ISS server and 2 X MS SQL server 2005. One live DB server for the website queries (inserts, updates) and another for backups, reports or stored procedures. So the live DB should be more aimed at performance. The other doesn't even need to be synced instantly. What is the best way in SQL server 2005 to set this up. Can somebody point me in the right direction and give me some pointers. Thanks

  I have a small Windows network (~30 machines) and I need to deploy SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. Because I use SQL Server Standard Edition and not Enterprise, I am forced to use Windows Authentication to the users. I am a Linux admin, and have near zero knowledge on Active Directory. As deep as my shallow knowledge goes, I think that I would need to invest in a domain server, a mirrored backup of that domain server. I think that I need to change every computer to use this domain too, and if the domain server goes down, every computer will be unavailable. Is there a easier way to deploy Windows Authentication so that users can access Reporting Services from their computers without changing the infra-structure that much? Thanks!

• Unable to connect to a remote SQL Server Instance over a VPN

  I'm running SQL Server 2005 on two different servers running Win XP. The two servers are in different physical locations and are connected via a dedecated point to point data link in a virtual private network(VPN). Im only able to connect to the remote instance of SQL Server by specifying the IP address on the server name property. If I provide the actual server name say 'ServerA', then I get an error message. Everything works fine except configuring replication at the subscriber level, which requires the actual name of the instance, not an IP address or alias. I have already configured both instances on allow remote connections and im running the SQL Server Browser. How do I connect to the remote instance by providing the instance name? Alternatively how I configure subscription to a remote publisher without supplying the remote instance name?

  Hello, I'am using Wordpress 2.9. Webserver 8GB from Hostgator. I'am fighting with this problem for long time but still can not find the solution. Php switched to run as an apache module, Php 5 in DSO, Apache suEXEC, eaccelerator installed, but this configuration started making huge server load on server. Server load spiking from 1 to 250 (4 cpus) and server stops, after period of time its back again and stops in about 10 minutes. It started happening when hostgator support team installed eaccelerator on server. What can make this problem and how can I fix it?

  We currently have a single Exchange 2007 Server on Windows Server 2008. It's also a DC and I'd like to split the DC role to a different box. Is this doable without migrating the mailboxes off to a temporary box, re-installing and migrating back? I.e. can I just demote the server without breaking Exchange completely? I know this was quite painful with Server 2003/Exchange 2003, so I'm trying to get an idea of how much different the process is for Server 2008/Exchange 2007.

I tried to uninstall SQL Server Express / Developer Edition but it only removed it from my Add/Remove software list. It returned immediately but did NOT actually remove the product. (I'm now in a bad state.) i tried to install SQL Server 2005 Enterprise and its says I'm blocked as all components are already installed - but they are not.   I have installed 2 DC's on my network (W2K8 R2) both serve as a replicate DC on my domain. On one of them (DC1) there is also a DHCP server running. On both I have a DNS server running. I am trying to understand the difference in the settings within the DHCP of Server Options and Scope Options. As I understand it: On the server options, I should put an external DNS for system (lets say 8.8.8.8 - google) And on the scope options, I should put both my internal dc1 and dc2 IP's as the server. - which are than distributed to my domain clients. Is that correct? Is there a better way? Do I need to add loopback address as well?

The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)

  I have an IIS 7 web site that is running on a Windows 2008 Server (64-bit) VMWare on a Windows 2008 Server (64-bit) Host on my local network. My router is a Firebox XEdge and it has port 80 directed to the IP of the server on VMWare. I can reach the web site from inside the network, but I cannot reach the site from outside the network. I have other web sites that are working through the Firebox, and I am confident that it is configured correctly. I suspect that Windows 2008 server is blocking routed or public addresses, but I have shut down the firewall on the Server that is running on VMWare and the AVG Anti-virus to no avail. How can I make my site available publicly.

  After configuring the Routing and Remote Access Services to be a both VPN and NAT service, I cannot ping that server anymore from the external side. But when I configure it to be just a VPN server, or just a NAT server, I do able to ping it from the external side. My configuration is like: DC: 192.168.20.11 VPN and NUT: Nic 1: 192.168.20.1, NIC 2: 192.168.147.171 Client: 192.168.147.1 The mask is always: 255.255.255.0 I cannot understand why when configuring the VPN server to be a VPN and NAT, I cannot ping the server anymore.

  I configured database mail profile as gmail smtp server, SSL and port 465. I didn't restart server. And this is first time to use Database Mail feature on that server. When I send a testing mail it give me this error message: The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (The operation has timed out) I tried this mail configuration with Thunderbird and I could send messages througt this SMTP. Why is SQL Server giving this eror message?   I'm looking to set-up a UPS on a Windows Small Business Berver 2k8 and I've noticed that there are some large price differences for similar capacity in-line UPSs. The most important point for me in UPS selection is that the server should have the ability to shut itself down before the UPS power runs out, so that if the server is unattended during the outage, it should minimize the risk of data loss. From some reading it appears that Windows Server 2008 should has the ability to natively recognise a UPS, which can then be managed through the battery settings on the server or via WMI. What I'm wondering if anyone know is, Is Windows 2008 servers UPS support specific to certain brands of UPS (eg, APC) or is it likely to work with any UPS which has a USB port, which I can connect to the server?
