  • Context menu for loaded SWF

    - by Palantar
I have a Flex app with a viewport that loads a series of other swfs. I would like to place a context menu over top of the SWFs when the user right-clicks. To that end, I have set up a fairly standard context menu where each item has a ContextMenuEvent.MENU_ITEM_SELECT event handler. One problem: The eventHandler never gets called. If I place the context-menu code anywhere else in the app, i.e. not on top of a loaded SWF, everything works fine. However, when I place the exact same code on the SWF viewport, the context menu items appear, but the eventHandlers are never called. Any ideas?

  • AS3: resizing as a result of an eventListener

    - by Jaimie
Hi everyone, I have coded a map that when a province object is clicked on, it should move to the center of the screen and grow a percentage of the width, along with displaying a number of different things. The problem is that in order for the image to resize it needs to be clicked on twice. It moves, and all of the children display just as they were designed to do, but the resize doesn't work on the first try. Any ideas how to fix this problem? ... menuItem4_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick); ... public function onClick(mc:MouseEvent):void { menuItem4_mc.width = width * .65; menuItem4_mc.height = height * .7; //brings Ontario To the front of the stage setChildIndex(menuItem4_mc,numChildren - 1); menuItem4_mc.x= 670/2; menuItem4_mc.y= 480/2; ... } Thank you!

  • How to add/get Sprite to/from UIComponent

    - by user955399
How to add Sprite to BorderContainer (UIComponent)? var sprite:Sprite = new Sprite(); sprite.graphics.lineStyle(10,0); sprite.graphics.moveTo(40,40); sprite.graphics.lineTo(60,60); mybordercontainer.addChild(sprite); //mybrodercontainer is id of BorderContainer created in mxml This code doesnt work. I cant see Sprite on my BorderContainer. How can I add Sprites on UIComponents, so I can see them? I tried this and it kinda worked: var comp:UIComponent = new UIComponent(); comp.addChild(sprite); myborderconteiner.addElement(comp); But I dont think, that this is a right way to add Sprites to UIComponents. Is there another method to do that? Second problem: When I have few Sprites added to my UIComponent (lines/circles/images or others) how can I receive an object Sprite from that UIComponent, which is containing all Sprites added before to that UIComponent? I need to create Bitmap from that Sprite and do some things. I hope I make myself clear

  • Issue with MOUSE_MOVE and MOUSE_OUT applied to stage

    - by poepje
I'm having an issue with MOUSE_OUT being called while it shouldn't. What I'm doing is quite simple: two images are shown when I move the mouse across the stage, and when the mouse leaves the stage they are hidden. The problem is, that whenever the mouse hits the border of any movieclip on the stage, the MOUSE_OUT function gets called, hiding the two images. This means that whenever I move the mouse My code (only the relevant parts are shown): public class Slider extends MovieClip { var img1:Img1 = new Img1; var img2:Img2 = new Img2; var img1_hover:Img1_hover = new Img1_hover; var img2_hover:Img2_hover = new Img2_hover; public function Slider() { img1.alpha = 0; img2.alpha = 0; stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, showArrows); } function showArrows(e:MouseEvent) { img1.alpha = 1; img2.alpha = 1; stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, hideArrows); } function hideArrows(e:MouseEvent) { img1.alpha = 0; img2.alpha = 0; } } Flash throws no errors. I am using a separate .as file (just one) and have no code inside of the action panel in the .fla. Where there's stage.addEventListener, I also tried this., root. and nothing instead of stage.

  • stagewebview calling local javascript

    - by wangjl1110
friends. I'm currently developing a flex mobile project. I currently need to load local javascript using stagewebview. Like: var str:String = '<head>'+ '<script src="myLocalJs.js"/>'+ '</head><body>...</body>'; webView:StageWebView = new StageWebView(); webView.loadString(str); Is there any way to load local javascript using StageWebView? I'm not expecting an answer like 'There is a project called StageWebViewBridge' since it does't have all the features I need. THX!!

  • Starting with an empty dataProvider for a <List>

    - by tictac
I'm using a List which I need to be empty at the start. I'm adding items to it as needed by clicking a button. Since it's empty, I haven't added a dataProvider property <s:List id="thelist" itemRenderer="listIR" /> To add an item, I'm adding it to the dataProvider directly thelist.dataProvider.addItem() but when I do that, it gives me this error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. Also I have a debugging Alert in the listIR itemRenderer itself and I see that when the list is created, I get that alert twice as if 2 itemRenderers were created, even though the list is supposed to be empty at the start. Any ideas what's wrong with this itemRenderer? How do I start with an empty dataProvider and add items smoothly to it?

  • What is the best way to remove flickering from a fast series of image loads in Flash?

    - by msandbot
Hi, working on making a flash program that loads about 1000 jpegs and then plays them like a movie. Have all the buttons and stuff working but the time it takes for an image to load is so high that the movie can't be played at 30 fps. I've tried multiple ways of fixing this using 1 scrollpane and changing its source ever 30 ms. This one is the worst but simplest. Flickers cause strobing and it is unwatchable. used 2 scrollpanes that were duplicates of each other until I had to load. I would then make that one invisible, load it , then make it visible. Then load the background one. Works but same problem as the first at high speeds, just less severe. used 1 scrollpane per image . This works great, except that it fails miserably on any more than 100 of them due to the number of objects. Has anyone else experienced/solved/wants to help me solve this? None of my fixes have worked. Currently using action script 3, but will change if its not possible in that. Also, I want to be able to zoom in and then scroll around the window hence the scrollpanes, but if that's not possible its a sacrifice I'm willing to make

  • Rendering of graphics different depending on position

    - by jedierikb
    When drawing parallel vertical lines with a fixed distance between them (1.75 pixels) with a non-integer x-value-offset to both lines, the lines are drawn differently based on the offset. In the picture below are two pairs of very close together vertical lines. As you can see, they look very different. This is frustrating, especially when animating the sprite. Any ideas how ensure that sprites-with-non-integer-positions' graphics will visually display the same? package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.display.StageAlign; import flash.display.StageScaleMode; import flash.events.Event; public class tmpa extends Sprite { private var _sp1:Sprite; private var _sp2:Sprite; private var _num:Number; public function tmpa( ):void { stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; _sp1 = new Sprite( ); drawButt( _sp1, 0 ); _sp1.x = 100; _sp1.y = 100; _num = 0; _sp2 = new Sprite( ); drawButt( _sp2, _num ); _sp2.x = 100; _sp2.y = 200; addChild( _sp1 ); addChild( _sp2 ); addEventListener( Event.ENTER_FRAME, efCb, false, 0, true ); } private function efCb( evt:Event ):void { _num += .1; if (_num > 400) { _num = 0; } drawButt( _sp2, _num ); } private function drawButt( sp:Sprite, offset:Number ):void { var px1:Number = 1 + offset; var px2:Number = 2.75 + offset; sp.graphics.clear( ); sp.graphics.lineStyle( 1, 0, 1, true ); sp.graphics.moveTo( px1, 1 ); sp.graphics.lineTo( px1, 100 ); sp.graphics.lineStyle( 1, 0, 1, true ); sp.graphics.moveTo( px2, 1 ); sp.graphics.lineTo( px2, 100 ); } } } edit from original post which thought the problem was tied to the x-position of the sprite.

  • Explicitly typing variables causes compiler to think an instance of a builtin type doesn't have a pr

    - by wallacoloo
I narrowed the causes of an AS3 compiler error 1119 down to code that looks similar to this: var test_inst:Number = 2.953; trace(test_inst); trace(test_inst.constructor); I get the error "1119: Access of possibly undefined property constructor through a reference with static type Number." Now if I omit the variable's type, I don't get that error: var test_inst = 2.953; trace(test_inst); trace(test_inst.constructor); it produces the expected output: 2.953 [class Number] So what's the deal? I like explicitly typing variables, so is there any way to solve this error other than not providing the variable's type?

  • How to add Flex 4 spark List Item custom properties

    - by maik3l
I'm trying to make a simple flash application providing interface for taking tests as a high school assignment. One of the requirements is to use an XML file as data source. Now, having a List component bound to the XML file with questions consisting of data such as question body, question type (ie. single choice, multiple choice, open, image etc.) and possible answers (where applicable), I was wondering if I could add some additional data (and what is the best possible way to do so) to each question upon its transfer to the List component. I am trying to achieve two main goals with this: firstly, to mark the questions to which an answer has already been given, like with such code in ItemRenderer class: <s:Label color="{data.color}" text="{data.label}"/> where data.color would be set whenever the user gives an answer to a question. Secondly, while at it, I thought of such possibility as a great way to store answers given to particular questions. In this case, the Class of the answer object would have been Object, since there has to be many type of questions (where the answer could also be a Bitmap for example). This is a question of both how to do it and if it seems a good idea at all (and if no, if there is a better way?), because I am quite new to the whole Flash Builder and Flex thing and I am not really accustomed to all the possibilities and best practices. Thanks!

  • How can I prevent text displacement for some foreign language fonts?

    - by weltraumpirat
I have a multilingual project (currently 13 languages), which uses many different font variations of "Helvetica Neue", mostly bold, condensed and regular cuts from the LinoType Pro font set ( which includes western european characters) and the same for cyrillic. We will probably add chinese and japanese variations in the future. I have set up the project to use different CSS stylesheets and separately load the fonts for each version, depending on which language the user selects, so I can have different line heights, kerning and/or font sizes to make everything keep the original look, even if the fonts look nothing alike. All of this works well, except for one problem: For some reason, all cyrillic letters seem to be displaced. They appear 2-3 pixels below the correct base line, and actually protrude across the textfield's bottom border, even when the field is set to autosize. When I use textfield.getCharBoundaries(), all values seem to be correct, even though they obviously aren't rendered correctly. To make everything look neat, I could of course manually move all problematic textfields up or down according to language and font size, but I was wondering if there was some way to prevent or at least detect this kind of displacement in order to automatically handle the adjustments - the Flash Player should have some sort of information on how things are rendered, shouldn't it? Have any of you had similar problems? Or better yet: a solution?

    My full code is import flash.events.KeyboardEvent; import flash.events.Event; //init some variables var speedX = 0; var speedY = 0; msg.visible = false; var curLevel = 2; var level = new Array(); var flagVar; var won = false; //Adding level platforms for(var i = 0; i < numChildren; i++) { if(getChildAt(i) is platform) { level.push(getChildAt(i).getRect(this)); } if(getChildAt(i) is flag) { flagVar = getChildAt(i).getRect(this); } } //Checking key presses var kUp = false; var kDown = false; var kLeft = false; var kRight = false; var kSpace = false; stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, kD); stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, kU); function kD(k:KeyboardEvent) { trace("Key down - " + k.keyCode); if(k.keyCode == 32) { kSpace = true; } if(k.keyCode == 37 ) { kLeft = true; } if(k.keyCode == 38) { kUp = true; } if(k.keyCode == 39) { kRight = true; } } function kU(k:KeyboardEvent) { trace("Key up - " + k.keyCode); if(k.keyCode == 32) { kSpace = false; } if(k.keyCode == 37) { kLeft = false; } if(k.keyCode == 38) { kUp = false; } if(k.keyCode == 39) { kRight = false; } } addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loopAround); function loopAround(e:Event) { //horizontal movement if(kLeft) { speedX = -10; } else if(kRight) { speedX = 10; } else { speedX *= 0.5; } player.x += speedX; //horizontal collision checks for(var i = 0; i < level.length; i++) { if(player.getRect(this).intersects(level[i])) { if(speedX > 0) { player.x = level[i].left - player.width; } if(speedX < 0) { player.x = level[i].right; } speedX = 0; } } //vertical movement speedY += 1; player.y += speedY; var jumpable = false; //Vertical collision for(i = 0; i < level.length; i++) { if(player.getRect(this).intersects(level[i])) { if(speedY > 0) { player.y = level[i].top - player.height; speedY = 0; jumpable = true; } if(speedY < 0) { player.y = level[i].bottom; speedY *= -0.5; } } } //JUMP! if((kUp || kSpace) && jumpable) { speedY=-20; } //Moving camera and other this.x = -player.x + (stage.stageWidth/2); this.y = -player.y + (stage.stageHeight/2); msg.x = player.x - (msg.width/2); msg.y = player.y - (msg.height/2); //Checking win if(player.getRect(this).intersects(flagVar)) { msg.visible = true; won = true; } //Check for next level request if(kSpace && won) { curLevel++; gotoAndStop(curLevel); won = false; } } The section in question is //Checking key presses var kUp = false; var kDown = false; var kLeft = false; var kRight = false; var kSpace = false; stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, kD); stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, kU); function kD(k:KeyboardEvent) { trace("Key down - " + k.keyCode); if(k.keyCode == 32) { kSpace = true; } if(k.keyCode == 37 ) { kLeft = true; } if(k.keyCode == 38) { kUp = true; } if(k.keyCode == 39) { kRight = true; } } function kU(k:KeyboardEvent) { trace("Key up - " + k.keyCode); if(k.keyCode == 32) { kSpace = false; } if(k.keyCode == 37) { kLeft = false; } if(k.keyCode == 38) { kUp = false; } if(k.keyCode == 39) { kRight = false; } } This was working fine last night, but today I moved it to a new keyframe and now it's not working. I'm not getting any errors (even if I debug). It just won't move the character or even show up in output. I'm still quite new to as3, so I don't really know what to do. Thanks in advance. Edit: After playing with it a bit, I've found out that the reason it's not working is due to the menu. The menu has a single button and two text elements, which are fine. The code that I'm using on the menu is this: import flash.events.MouseEvent; stop(); var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); format.size = 26; format.bold = true; playGameButton.setStyle("textFormat", format); stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playGame); function playGame(e:MouseEvent) { if(e.target.name == "playGameButton") { gotoAndStop(2); } } If I use just gotoAndStop(2); it works fine, but with everything else it just goes to the second frame, and nothing else works after that. Edit #2: I've narrowed it down even farther to the if statement itself. if(e.target == playGameButton) if(e.target.name == "playGameButton") Both of those don't work. If I just remove the if statement all together it works perfectly fine.

  • AIR SQLite IN expression not working

    - by goseta
Hi, I'm having a problem with an expression in my sql statement in SQLite for Adobe AIR basically I have this sql = "UPDATE uniforms SET status=@status WHERE customerId IN(19,20)"; updateStmt.parameters["@status"] = args[1]; updateStmt.execute(); if I run the above code it works, updating the status when the id are 19 and 20 but if I pass the ids list as a parameter like this sql = "UPDATE uniforms SET status=@status WHERE customerId IN(@ids)"; updateStmt.parameters["@status"] = args[1]; updateStmt.parameters["@ids"] = "19,20"; updateStmt.execute(); it gives me and error, saying could not convert text value to numeric value, which make sense because I'm passing and string but the IN expression should convert it accordingly, like it does when I pass directly the list values, why is not working the other way, thanks for any help!

  • Flex Drawing Library

    - by Evgeny Nacu
Do you know any simple drawing libraries with align support (one component to other, also align to grid) I would like to implement simple editor of wall configuration in the apartments, by the way. Or, may be, there is no such component and is better to use Graphics class?

  • Packages name conflicting with getters and setters?

    - by MrKishi
    Hello, folks. So, I've came across this compilation error a while ago.. As there's an easy fix and I didn't find anything relevant at the time, I eventually let it go. I just remembered it and I'm now wondering if this is really part of the language grammar (which I highly doubt) or if it's a compiler bug. I'm being purely curious about this -- it doesn't really affect development, but it would be nice to see if any of you have seen this already. package view { import flash.display.Sprite; public class Main extends Sprite { private var _view:Sprite = new Sprite(); public function Main() { this.test(); } private function test():void { trace(this.view.x, this.view.y); //1178: Attempted access of inaccessible property x through a reference with static type view:Main. //1178: Attempted access of inaccessible property y through a reference with static type view:Main. //Note that I got this due to the package name. //It runs just fine if I rename the package or getter. } public function get view():Sprite { return this._view; } } }
