  • Navigating the timeline

    O.K, being a little new to this, I have hit a brick wall, I'm using AS3 in Flash CS5. All I want to do is have a tweened animation which stops at a frame and which has a clickable button to access another part of the maintime line. Also there will be a button on the animation to skip it. How does one set this up? Obviously you need a stop(); at the stop frame of the time line and an event listener and function for both buttons right? Any more help besides that.   • Smart way to execute function in flash from an imported html (or XML) plain text

    Ok, here is the think. I have a very simple flash program code in AS3, inside this program there is a dynamic textfield html capable. Also i have a database were i will put some information. Each element in the database can be linked to other. For example, this database will contain tourist spots, and they can be related with others in the same database. Ramdom place 1 This interesting spot is near <link to="ramdo2">ramdom place2</link>. And so, so so... The information in the database is retrived by the flash application and it shows the text on the dynamic textfield. I need somehow to tell my flash application that have to be a link to other part of the database, so when the user click the link a function in flash call this new data. The database is a simple Mysql server, and the data is not yet in there, waiting for your suggestions of how to format it and develop the solution. Im a php developer too, so i can make a gateway in PHP to read the MySQL and then retrive some format to flash, an XML for example.

    I got function in Flash (Action Script 3) - that makes snowflakes falling. Now i want to make this snowflakes appear on screen only for 3 seconds. So I'm trying to use Timer class but i got problem: var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(3000, 1); myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, snowflakes); myTimer.start(); function snowflakes(event:TimerEvent):void { //snowflakes faling function } In this case snowflakes appear after 3 seconds and stay on the stage forver...So its kinda opposite what i wanted. I want them to appear from the very beginning then disappear after 3 second. How can I do that ?

  • Adobe Air: Is it possible to save files to a network path (osx)

    I was wondering if it would be possible to write a file, not to the local system, but to a connected server or other network path. Would i have to use an external php interface for this or can i entrust this to the AIR framework? I'm pretty sure that AIR has certain security precautions to prevent this. Thanks a bunch! Regards

  • Can't use static const as param in function call within binding tags in Flex 3

    I'm having a problem in flex 3 where if a static const I have defined is used as the parameter to a function call within binding tags I get a "1120: Access of undefined property NodePropertyMatrix". _propMtx is a ArrayCollection. <mx:HBox visible="{_propMtx.getItemAt(NodePropertyMatrix.srcParent)}"> Above code throws the error, but the following code does not <mx:HBox visible="{NodePropertyMatrix.srcParent}"> NodePropertyMatrix is an AS class as follows: package model.constants { import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; public class NodePropertyMatrix { public static const srcParent:Number = 0; } } Anyone know what is wrong here?

    I am loading an external SWF using the Loader class, and adding it to the stage with addChild. When trying to add a mouse click event listener to the MovieClip, using addEventListener, nothing happens, the event never fires. Is there a specific way to add listeners to externally loaded movie clips? My code looks somewhat like this: var target:MovieClip = assets["screensaver"] as MovieClip; target.root.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickScreenSaver, true); addChild(target); The target shows up on the display, but the CLICK event is completely ignored.

  • Huge framerate difference between Test and Publish movie in Flash?

    Simply put, I am making a flash midi player. I am using ENTER_FRAME for my timings. I set the framerate to 100 to ensure that the timing of each note in milliseconds is accurate. When I test the movie with CTRL + ENTER it works fine. When I publish it and open it in a browser (tested both IE and Chrome), it suddenly plays back a lot slower. I don't think it's a performance issue, since the code is very simple. If this slowdown is consistent then I can perhaps work with it so that the playback speed will be correct. Do browsers make the framerate slower or do they implement a framerate cap of some sort? What is going on?

  • How should I smooth the transition between these two states in flex/flashbuilder

    I have an item in which has two states, best described as open and closed, and they look like this: and And what I'd like to do is is smooth the transition between one state and the other, effectively by interpolating between the two points in a smooth manner (sine) to move the footer/button-block and then fade in the pie chart. However this is apparently beyond me and after wrestling with my inability to do so for an hour+ I'm posting it here :D So my transition block looks as follows <s:transitions> <s:Transition id="TrayTrans" fromState="*" toState="*"> <s:Sequence> <s:Move duration="400" target="{footer}" interpolator="{Sine}"/> <s:Fade duration="300" targets="{body}"/> </s:Sequence> </s:Transition> <s:Transition> <s:Rotate duration="3000" /> </s:Transition> </s:transitions> where {body} refers to the pie chart and {footer} refers to the footer/button-block. However this doesn't work so I don't really know what to do... Additional information which may be beneficial: The body block is always of fixed height (perhaps of use for the Xby variables in some effects?). It needs to work in both directions. Oh and the Sine block is defined above in declarations just as <s:Sine id="Sine">. Additionally! How would I go about setting the pie chart to rotate continually using these transition blocks? (this would occur without the labels on) Or is that the wrong way to go about it as it's not a transition as such? The effect I'm after is one where the pie chart rotates slowly without labels prior to a selection of a button below, but on selection the rotation stops and labels appear... Thanks a lot in advance! And apologies on greyscale, but I can't really decide on a colour scheme. Any suggestions welcome.

One obvious way to do it would simply be to call doSomething() which would give the same end result as clicking the button. But I'm specifically looking for ways to emulate the click -- that is something along the lines of myButton.click() (if that should have existed).

  • Load all images from internal application

    I am trying to load all the .png files from an internal application folder into a list control and I am stuck on exactly how to do it. I have tried httpservice to get the folder and count how many images there are so I can loop through them but I just cant figure that out. File structure -src -(default package) -my application files -icons -all my .png files httpService i tried: <s:HTTPService id="loadAllImages" destination="/icons" result="gotImages(event)" fault="loadAllImagesFault(event)"/> This always results in directory not found. Am I going about this completely wrong? Anyone have a suggestion?

  • Scrolling through list element causes text elements to scroll as well

    I'm using a list element with variableRowHeight and word-wrap set to true like in the example below: http://blog.flexexamples.com/2007/10/27/creating-multi-line-list-rows-with-variable-row-heights/ When I scroll through the list with a mouse scrollwheel the text in the listItems also scroll. I know that this is to do with the height of the textField... but I am unsure how to best resolve this issue. Any thoughts are appreciated! The issue that I am experiencing also occurs in the example above.

For example: I have function: public function bla(data:Vector.<Object>):void { ... } this function expects Vector as parameter. I can pass parameters this way var newVector:Vector.<Object> = new Vector.<Object>(); newVector.push("bla1"); newVector.push("bla2"); bla(newVector); Can I do it in one line in Flex?     Hi - I've gotten a checkbox header renderer to work well with flat DPs, but a hierarchical collection view is another story. On click, I want it to select all checkboxes in a given column. Here is my code: var dp:HierarchicalCollectionView = _dataGrid.dataProvider as HierarchicalCollectionView; var testDp:GroupingCollection = dp.source as GroupingCollection; var rawDp:ArrayCollection = testDp.source as ArrayCollection; for(var i:int=0 ; i < rawDp.length ; i++){ rawDp[i][_dataField] = cb.selected; } It selects all checkboxes on the 2nd level of data, but doesn't select the top level of data.   • List Component that acts as if control was permanently pressed

    Hey, I have a list control and i want the user to be able to select many items at a time. Thus I want it to act that if the control key is pressed while he is clicking.     Hello my fellow coders, As i notice for a while now (like everybody else in the industry), the RIA market is shifting from AS3/Flex to HTML/Javascript. What i would like to know is? Is html/javascript as powerfull as as3/Flex or are they entirely different. With other words can i build the exact same applictions with HTML(4/5) and Javascript as i can do with AS3/Flex? I'm not looking for the speed comparison? or bashing one technology over the other? I just want to know if is good for me to dive into javascript, JQuery...... PS.   • How do I force all Tree itemrenderers to refresh?

    I have item renderers in an mx.controls.Tree that I need to refresh on demand. I have code in the updateDisplayList that fires for only some of the visible nodes no matter what I do. I've tried triggering a change that they should all be listening for; I have tried clearing and resetting the dataProvider and the itemRenderer properties. private function forceCategoryTreeRefresh(event : Event = null) : void { trace("forceCategoryTreeRefresh"); var prevDataProvider : Object = CategoryTree.dataProvider; CategoryTree.dataProvider = null; CategoryTree.validateNow(); CategoryTree.dataProvider = prevDataProvider; var prevItemRenderer : IFactory = CategoryTree.itemRenderer; CategoryTree.itemRenderer = null; CategoryTree.itemRenderer = prevItemRenderer as IFactory; _categoriesChangeDispatcher.dispatchEvent(new Event(Event.CHANGE)); } The nodes refresh properly when I scroll them into view (e.g. the .data gets set), but I cannot force the ones that already exist to refresh or reset themselves. Any ideas?
