• How to reset ASP.NET MVC client validation mode?

  I'm having a bit of trouble with the client-side validation in the ASP.NET MVC 2 framework and hope someone can help me out. In several situations I find it useful to be able to reset the contents of a form or just a single input element and I need any validation errors to disappear. This in itself is not very hard, and the suggestion provided here works well enough: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2798427/how-do-i-clear-mvc-client-side-validation-errors-when-a-cancel-button-is-clicked The problem is that, when triggered, client validation goes into an aggressive mode that performs validation on each key press and when an input loses focus. Is there a good way to reset this state as well?

• Does Google's Geocoding API return results that are more accurate than Google Maps or the same?

  I am thinking about using python or C++ in conjunction with google's geocoding API. Since geocoding is the process of turning street addresses into coordinates, I was wondering how google does this. I am looking for something that will give me coordinates that are around 50 meters away from the entrance of the location at a specified address. There are a few problems with this when you use google maps however. If you aren't doing it manually, sometimes google maps will place a marker for an address just on the road and not over the place (especially for addresses in malls, places far off the road, etc). Does the geocoding api give you more accurate coordinates or does it simply copy the coordinates of what a google maps marker would give you? I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

  Hi All I might be vaguing out here but I'm looking for a nice place to put set based helper operations in linq so I can do things like; db.Selections.ClearTemporary() which does something like db.DeleteAllOnSubmit(db.Selections.Where(s => s.Temporary)) Since I can figure out how to extend Table<Selection> the best I can do is create a static method in partial class of Selection (similar to Ruby) but I have to pass in the datacontext like; Selection.ClearTemporary(MyDataContext) This kind of sucks because I have two conventions for doing set based operations and I have to pass the data context to the static class. I've seen other people recommending piling helper methods into a partial of the datacontext like; myDataContext.ClearTemporarySelections(); But I feel this makes the dc a dumping ground for in-cohesive operations. Surely I'm missing something. I hope so. What's the convention? TIA

• Cast to generic type in C#

  I have a Dictionary to map a certain type to a certain generic object for that type. For example: typeof(LoginMessage) maps to MessageProcessor<LoginMessage> Now the problem is to retrieve this generic object at runtime from the Dictionary. Or to be more specific: To cast the retrieved object to the specific generic type. I need it to work something like this: Type key = message.GetType(); MessageProcessor<key> processor = messageProcessors[key] as MessageProcessor<key>; Hope there is a easy solution to this. Edit: I do not want to use Ifs and switches. Due to performance issues I cannot use reflection of some sort either.

• Cast an NSDictionary value while applying an NSPredicate?

  Hi I have an Array of NSDictionary objects. These Dictionaries are parsed from a JSON file. All value objects in the NSDictionary are of type NSString, one key is called "distanceInMeters". I had planned on filtering these arrays using an NSPredicate, so I started out like this: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(distanceInMeters <= %f)", newValue]; NSArray *newArray = [oldArray filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]; I believe this would have worked if the value for the "distanceInMeters" key was an NSNumber, but because I have it from a JSON file everything is NSStrings. The above gives this error:* -[NSCFNumber length]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3936f00** Which makes sense as I had just tried to treat an NSString as an NSNumber. Is there a way to cast the values from the dictionary while they are being filtered, or maybe a completely different way of getting around this? Hope someone can help me :)

I have my table like this Product (uuid, Name) and one datagridview to display this information ( dataGridView.DataSouce = Products which is assign on runtime) My problem is that I want to have "No" column on dataGridView which will show like below No | Name 1 | ProdctA 2 | ProductB 3 | ProductC What I do right now is create a "No" field on my product Model, and loop through all the row and assign value to it. • WCF Self-hosted service, client clean-up on service stop

  Hi everyone, I'm curious to know how I would go about setting up my service to stop cleanly on the server the service will be installed on. For example when I have many clients connecting and doing operations every minute and I want to shut-down the service for maintenance, how can I do this in the "OnStop" event of the service to then let the main service host to deny any new client connections and let the current connections finish before it actually shuts down its services to the client, this will ensure data isn't corrupted on the server as the server shuts down. Right now I'm not setup as a singleton because I need scalability in the service. So I would have to somehow get my service host to do this independently of knowing how many instances are created of the service class. I hope I explain myself good enough, if not, let me know, I'll try to explain better. Thanks, Scott

• How to make this .htaccess rule case insensitive?

  This is a rule in my .htaccess # those CSV files are under the DOCROOT ... so let's hide 'em <FilesMatch "\.CSV$"> Order Allow,Deny Deny from all </FilesMatch> I've noticed however that if there is a file with a lowercase or mixed case extension of CSV, it will be ignored by the rule and displayed. How do I make this case insensitive? I hope it doesn't come down to "\.(?:CSV|csv)$" (which I'm not sure would even work, and doesn't cover all bases) Note: The files are under the docroot, and are uploaded automatically there by a 3rd party service, so I'd prefer to implement a rule my end instead of bothering them. Had I set this site up though, I'd go for above the docroot. Thanks

• Navigation bar's buttons tint color sometimes not set

  Refer to the following, short video: http://screencast.com/t/cmnsqVTh The problem is with the color of a navigation bar's back button. The first time I load the app, the navigation bar + its buttons have the default color. I then push a view controller on the stack, and when the new view loads (in the viewDidLoad method), it sets the navigation bar's tint color to pink. The nav bar's buttons are also pink as expected. I then press the back button, and the view is popped from the stack. On the root view controller's viewWillAppear method I set the tint color back to nil so that it's the default color again. The navigation bar looks as expected. However if I push the view controller on the stack yet again, the navigation bar's tint color is pink, but the back button's color is the default light blue. Hope that was understandable. So what's the cause of the problem?

  Hi, I have been looking for an answer for some time now, hope you could give me a quick tip. I have an equation with many divisions inside. i.e: $\frac{\frac{a_1}{a_2}} {\frac{b_1}{b_2}}$ To make it more readable, I decided to change the large fraction into "/" sign. i.e. $\frac{a_1}{a_2} / \frac{b_1}{b_2}$ The problem is that the "/" sign remains small, and it is quite ugly. How do I change the "/" sign to have a big font? How do I make it more readable? Thanks.

• MS Access 2003 - Help understanding the structure of mdb, mde and be.....

  Hi. I was just wanting some explanation as to what is going on once you have split your tables out into a back end file, and set an mde out for use. When a user accesses the mde, is the mdb still required to get to the tabes (or in order to make it work)? Let say I put these access apps on a shared drive for folks to use. If I split the be end on to the shared drive, and placed the mde on the shared drive, would I the mdb have to exist for that version mde to work (communicate with the tables)? Or does the mde sort of speak to the mdb which speaks to the tables? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks

  I've already implemented an app that has navigationController at the very top, and it shows tableView at the first, and if it's cell is clicked, another view is pushed into the navigationController. It's just an simple & normal app. But I want to put an ad between the navigationBar and the tableView. I've tried this and that. but it didn't work.   Hi, I'm trying to make a SELECT on three relational tables like these ones: table_materials -> material_id - material_name table_props -> prop_id - prop_name table_materials_props - row_id -> material_id -> prop_id - prop_value On my page, I'd like to get a result like this one but i have some problem with the query: material prop A prop B prop C prop D prop E wood 350 NULL NULL 84 16 iron NULL 17 NULL NULL 201 copper 548 285 99 NULL NULL so the query should return something like: material prop_name prop_value wood prop A 350 wood prop B NULL wood prop C NULL wood prop D 84 wood prop E 16 // and go on with others rows i thought to use something like: SELECT * FROM table_materials AS m INNER JOIN table_materials_props AS mp ON m.material_id = mp.material_id INNER JOIN table_materials_props AS p ON mp.prop_id = p.prop_id ORDER BY p.prop_name the problem is the query doesn't return the NULL values, and I need the same prop order for all the materials regardless of prop values are NULL or not I hope this example is clear!

• What is technically more advanced: Brainf*ck or Assembler?

  I wondered which of these languages is more powerful. With powerful I don't mean the readability, assembler would be naturally the winner here, but something resulting from, for example, the following factors: Which of them is more high-level? (Both aren't really but one has to be more) Who would be the possibly fastest in compiled state? (There is no BF compiler out there as far as I know but it wouldn't be hard writing one I suppose) Which of the both has the better code length/code action ratio? What I mean is If you get to distracted by the, compared to Brainf*ck, improved readability of assembler, just think of writing plain binary/machine code as what assembler assembles to. Both languages are so basic that it should be possible to answer the question(s) in a rather objective view, I hope.

• Maintain combobox selected item across TabNavigator Tabs

  Hi guys, I've just recently started out using Flash Builder and have a question surrounding states. In fact I'm not entirely sure it is related to states but read on and I hope it will become clearer. I currently have a custom component that contains 3 comboboxes. This resides in a TabNavigator component. The TabNavigator consits of 5 pages (Tabs). The custom container holding the comboboxes should display the same selected data across all Tabs. ie. If I am in Tab1 and select an item from one of the comboboxes then click on Tab2 I need to mirror the combobox's selection in Tab2. Can anyone offer me suggestions on how to best tackle this? Di I need to set a global variable?

  Hi, Recently, I had seen information about Rails 3.0 beta and I had wanted to trial it. So I used gem update and installed this version. But now, I need to go back to Rails 2.3.5. How could I do it? I was thinking about this two solutions: Uninstalling Rails 3. I read that somebody removed Rails 3 by using gem uninstall but he came across some problems then. Did anyone try to remove it in this way? Using different versions Rails at the same time. Is it possible at all? It will resolve all my problems but I could find nothing about this issue in google.   Hello All, I am doing dynamic plotting using core plot library and i have placed that plot on UIScrollView so that i can scroll the plot. Now i want to do Pinch Zooming on that, means when i m doing pinch zooming that that part where i have pinched will be zoomed,other part will also be zoomed but we can see certain par of the graph at one time so wherever i have pinched that part will be shown in zoomed state in focused view and when i am doing scrolling i can see other part also in a zoom state.   Hi, In my code i create a HyperLinkField object. Depending on a database field value, i want to set the NavigateUrl property. This is my problem, i don't know how. With: objHF.DataNavigateUrlFields = new[] { "id", "Stype" }; i get my database field. Now i want to check the Stype value. Depeding on this value i want to set the page where to navigate to. How can i do this?? At the end i set my datasource to the gridview and after that i call the bind() method. I hope someone can help me out

• Using Kate with Simple Build Tool (SBT)

  Hello I am working with the Kate editor based on the lack of other good tools for Scala development, I am also using IntelliJ however it still has some bugs, and are slow enough to make me impatient. I have just startet using both Kate and SBT, and in that regard I have a little challenge I hope there is an answer for out there on "The Internet". I am using the standard "Build plugin" in Kate and has changed the commands from make to sbt. This works fine, and I am also getting a error report when the sbt fails during compile time. However I really wish to know if it is possible to integrate the compile errors into Kate such that it would be shown under "Errors and Warnings" instead of just in the output tab, where I have to do a manual search for the compile errors. Im guessing that it has something to do with the format of the output, if that is the case maybe it is "just" a smaller adjustment I need to make to the parsing language.

  Greetings! I have this question. Whenever, I enter a transformation (gltranslate, glrotate, glscale) within a display list, the transformation remains as a command within the display list. Everytime the display list is rendered, it will calculate all and over again. Is there a way, I can make an opengl transformation and the transformed vertex coordinates be stored permanently in a display list instead of transformation & intial coordinates?   Hello Is thare any quickstart guide for programmers for writing DSP-accelerated appliations for TMS320C64x? I have a program with custom algorythm (not the fft, or usial filtering) and I want to accelerate it using multi-DSP coprocessor. So, how should I modify source to move computation from main CPU to DSPs? What limitations are there for DSP-running code? I have some experience with CUDA. In CUDA I should mark every function as being host, device, or entry point for device (kernel). There are also functions to start kernels and to upload/download data to/from GPU. There are also some limitations, for device code, described in CUDA Reference manual. I hope, there is an similar interface and a documentation for DSP.

• ssl_error_rx_record_too_long and Apache SSL

  I've got a customer trying to access one of my sites, and they keep getting this error ssl_error_rx_record_too_long They're getting this error on all browsers, all platforms. I can't reproduce the problem at all. My server and myself are located in the USA, the customer is located in India. I googled on the problem, and the main source seems to be that the SSL port is speaking in HTTP. I checked my server, and this is not happening. I tried the solution mentioned here, but the customer has stated it did not fix the issue. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this, or how I can reproduce this??? PS: If you can reproduce the problem with the following URL please let me know! THE SOLUTION Turns out the customer had a misconfigured local proxy! Hope that helps anyone finding this question trying to debug it in the future.
