• Help with making a C# P2P Chat Program

  Hi everyone, I want to make a P2P Chat client, all I want it to do is to be able to send text across to each peer. I looked at a Chat Client from this example: http://www.geekpedia.com/tutorial239_Csharp-Chat-Part-1---Building-the-Chat-Client.html And am wondering if it can be converted to a p2p program? If so how can it be and can someone provide some code as it will help a lot. If it can't how can I make a really simple p2p chat program? • Python/X11: find out if user switches virtual desktops

  Hello everyone, I'm looking for a way to determine if the user switches virtual desktops under X11. I'm using Python with X11 libraries and PyGTK. I found some working examples in C, but I lack the expertise to translate them into Python, and I read the source code of several X11 pager applications (fbpanel, pypanel), but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Do I have to register for a signal? Using X11 or GTK? Do I have to busy-wait? I'm completely new to both X11 and GTK, so any hints/help would be greatly appreciated. • Asp.Net MVC - Plugins Directory, Community etc?

  Good evening everyone, I am currently starting to dive into asp.net mvc and I really like what I see so far.. BUT I am somewhat confused about 'drop-in' functionality (similiar to what rails and it's plugins and nowadays gems are), an active community to contact etc. For rails there's github with one massiv index of plugins/gems/code-examples regarding mostly rails (despite their goal being generic source-code hosting..), for blogs, mailing lists etc it's also pretty easy to find the places the other developers flock around, but... for asp.net mvc I am somewhat lost where to go/look. It all seems scattered across codeplex and private sites, google code hosting etc etc.. but is there one (or few places) where to turn to regarding asp.net mvc development, sample code etc? • Spry Collapsible Panel within Collapsible Panel, inconsistent errors.

  Hello everyone it is me again with another question. The booking system located here http://www.divethegap.com/scuba-diving-programmes-dive-the-gap/divemaster-training.php?cat=16 There are 3 main collapsible panels controlled by the spry framework. There are then over a dozen more inside the first collapsible panel as you can see on that page. When you open one of those by pressing one of the 'learn more' buttons you will see that the main collapsible panel that it is in also expands to fit that content and the contracts if you close the smaller panel again. However as soon as you go to the next main collapsible panel 'summery and quote' and then go back to the first main panel by pressing the button that says 'back' there are problems. Now if you open up one of the smaller panels inside the first main panel you will see that the main panel does not expand to fit the contents and in fact the content of the smaller panels spreads over the other content, floating above it. I also can add a table (test table called Person with Name and Age), this works good.   Hi everyone! I know I know, why am I using MP4 still?? It's because I have like 100 files already in this format and I need to upload to a website, I have the mp4 file embeded in the site already and the file played changes according to php. but what I really need is a way to dynamically create a thumbnail or take a snapshot of the video file to display on the page. I've read a couple things online but they all require the file type to be in FLV, what would be the best way to accomplish this? Thank you Guys!

• symbol lookup error in player-stage !

  Hi everyone ! I was getting a symbol lookup error in player stage, I rectified it after hours of hit and trial ! ( see my blogspot ). Even then in about 30 uses, the error resurfaces and I have to rectify it !. As of now, I am able to work fine ! the rectification just takes about 30 seconds.   Hi Everyone, here's a problem that i've run into lately: I have a listview with a custom adapter class, the adapter takes in a listview and populates the listview with elements from it. Now, i'd like to have a button on each row of a listview to remove the item from it. How should i approach this problem?   Hi everyone, I'm trying to associate a variable with a Tkinter entry widget, in a way that: Whenever I change the value (the "content") of the entry, mainly by typing something into it, the variable automatically gets assigned the value of what I've typed. Without me having to push a button "Update value " or something like that first. Whenever the variable gets changed (by some other part of the programm), I want the entry value displayed to be adjusted automatically. I believe that this could work via the textvariable. I read the example on http://effbot.org/tkinterbook/entry.htm, but it is not exactly helping me for what I have in mind. I have a feeling that there is a way of ensuring the first condition with using entry's "validate". Any ideas? Thank you for your input! Sano

  In another question, a user pointed out that the new keyword was dangerous to use and proposed a solution to object creation that did not use new... I didn't believe that was true, mostly because I've used Prototype, Scriptaculous and other excellent JavaScript libraries, and everyone of them used the new keyword... In spite of that, yesterday I was watching Douglas Crockford's talk at YUI theater and he said the exactly same thing, that he didn't use the new keyword anymore in his code. Is it 'bad' to use the new keyword? what are the advantages and disadvantages of using it?

• How to display a new frame in an an applet?

  Hello everyone, I have an applet. In this I have a JLabel component. When the user clicks this label, a new JFrame component gets displayed. I want to set the value of setDefaultCloseOperation() for this frame as JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE. However, I get a SecurityException if I do that. I read the documentation of JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE and its written that : The exit application default window close operation. If a window has this set as the close operation and is closed in an applet, a SecurityException may be thrown. It is recommended you only use this in an application. What I understood from the above is that if a frame is closed without specifying default close operation, the frame is only hidden. I want to close the frame when the user tries to close it, and not hide the frame. Is this possible?

• Changing a Container while using Visitor

  Hi everyone, I implemented the Visitor pattern in C++ using a STL-like iterator for storing the Visitor's current position in the container. Now I would like to change the container while I iterate over it, and I'm especially interested in deleting items from the container, even the one I'm currently visiting. Now obviously this will invalidate the Visitors internal iterator, because it was pointing to exactly this item. Currently, I store a list of all iterators in the container and update them, as soon as anything is added to or removed from the list. So in a way this is similar to the Observer pattern applied to the iterator (as Observer) and the list (as Observable). Alternatively I considered having the visitor() methods return some hint to the Visitor about what happend to the current item and how to proceed iterating, but that doesn't sound like such a good idea either, because the visit() implementation shouldn't really care about finding the next item. So, my question is: What's the best way to keep a visitor working, even when items are added to the container or removed from it. Regards, Florian

Line 36 project.id isn't raising a warning, so I assume the issue is that I'm calling ID on the Matching model. Why is it the case that only Matching raising an error and not customer or project? How can I rectify this in my code? Thanks very much.

  Hey everyone, I've been trying to use http://livepipe.net/control/tabs to get some javascript tabs up and running on my rails up. I'm really just trying to figure out how to install this... and I don't see how I'm running into any issues at all. Here are the steps I've taken: put tabs.js in my scripts folder made sure the layout is including all javascript files then I copied in the code for example 1, as well as the CSS from the page's style sheet. I don't get an error, but it just doesn't work. Both tabs are displayed... Any ideas?

• List of header file locations for the Havok Physics Engine

  Hello everyone! I am trying to integrate the Havok physics engine into my small game. It is a really nice SDK, but the header files are all over the place. Many headers are deeply nested in multiple directories. That gets confusing when you are trying to include headers for different important objects. I would like to know if there is a nice guide that will let you know where certian objects are and what headres they are in. I have already looked at Havok's documentation, and I also looked at the reference manual, but they don't give great detail as to where certain classes are located (header location). Also, is there any programs out there that can scan header files and create a list of where objects can be found? Thanks again

• How do You Get a Specific Value From a System.Data.DataTable Object?

  I'm a low-level algorithm programmer, and databases are not really my thing - so this'll be a n00b question if ever there was one. I'm running a simple SELECT query through our development team's DAO. The DAO returns a System.Data.DataTable object containing the results of the query. This is all working fine so far. The problem I have run into now: I need to pull a value out of one of the fields of the first row in the resulting DataTable - and I have no idea where to even start. Microsoft is so confusing about this! Arrrg! Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not providing any code samples, because I believe that context is unnecessary here. I'm assuming that all DataTable objects work the same way, no matter how you run your queries - and therefore any additional information would just make this more confusing for everyone.

• Nutch - how to crawl by small patches?

  Hi everyone! I am stuck! Can`t get Nutch to crawl for me by small patches. I start it by bin/nutch crawl command with parameters -depth 7 and -topN 10000. And it never ends. Ends only when my HDD is empty. What i need to do: Start to crawl my seeds with possibility to go further on outlinks. Crawl 20000 pages, then index them. Crawl another 20000 pages, index them and merge with first index. Loop step 3 n times. Tried also with scripts found in wiki, but all scripts i found don't go further. If i run them again, they do everything from beginning. And in the end of script i have the same index i had, when started to crawl. But, i need to continue my crawl. Some help would be very usefull!

I have not modified any code of this codeplex project, and just press F5 to run VideoPlayerWeb project. • Datatype to use for collection of QT buttons

  Hi Everyone, I am brand new to QT and need to develop the Mancala game. Since I'm brand new to the QT environment, my plan it to keep things very simple. I will be using the "Push Button" widget as pieces on the game. Since two players play this game, my idea is to have to arrays of buttons. One array for player 1 and the other for player 2. My question is since I am using "Push Button" widgets, how can I group them to iterate through? I notice that QT has both the array and vector data types but I'm confused on how these data types can be used to "group" the buttons. Does anyone know of any sample code or tutorials to look at to learn more? Thanks for your time and any input provided.

• Visual Studio - "attach to particular instance of the process" macro

  I guess prety much everyone who does a lot of debugging have a handy macro in Visual Studio (with shortcut to it on a toolbar) which when called automatically attaches to a particular process (identified by name). it saves a lot of time rather than clicking "Debug" - "Attach to the process ...", but it only works if one is running a single instance of the process one wants to attach to. If theres is more than one instance of particular process in memory - the first one (with a smaller PID?) is being choose by debugger. Does anyone have a macro which shows a dialog (if more that 1 process with a specified name running) and lets developer to select to one he/she really wants to attach to. I guess the selection could be made based on a windwow caption text (which would be suffice in most of cases) and when the particular instance is selected macro passes the PID of the process to the Debugger object? If someone has that macro or knows how to write it - please share. Thanks.

I don't know what is happening now that neither success nor failure events are triggering. I'm shure that the request and response are perfectly working, I checked that with firebug.
