  Hello. I get the error when i'm trying to open a database in PocketPC emulator or from the program with connection's Open() method(C#)..Here it is: Description: Internal error: SQL Server Compact made an unsupported request to the host operating system. Can someone explain what can cause this error to appear. The database and application are on Storage Card(shared folder from PC, on which Everyone has read/write permissions)Thank you. FOUND that its because of storing DB on Storage Card(after moving database to 'My Documents' error disappears), but still don't know the reason of error.

  Hi everyone, I'm currently writing a paper for my company, about how to avoid calling the garbage collector directly from the code (when playing with COM objects for instance). I know this is a bad practice, and should be only considered in very rare cases, but I can't seem to find a way to tell why it should be avoided. And I don't want to rely on the "The G.C. is smarter than you" principle (even if it is the truth :-) ) So can you tell me some clues about why you think one should avoid to call the garbage collector directly ? (performance impact?) Or maybe if you have links about this particular topic, they would be very helpful. Thanks in advance !

  Hi everyone I want to write an ads server (like OpenX), just for fun and learning (they aren't the same). But my idea, more than writing an entire application with web interface and so on, is to write a very tiny core that provides the basic functionality in the most efficient way, like a library that other people can use to write a complete application more fitted to their needs. The objective is to make it small, very efficient and fast. Can someone help me with a list of the minimal functionality needed for this kind of application?. • debugging error -- error attaching to w3wp.exe

  Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + .Net 3.5 + C#. And I developed a custom Forms authentication module for IIS 7.0 and I attach to w3wp.exe to debug this module. During the attach process (I just select Tools - Attach to Process, no further operation performed on the computer I am debugging -- I just wait for the attach to be completed), I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong? The web server process that was being debugged has been terminated by Internet Information Services (IIS). This can be avoided by configuring Application Pool ping settings in IIS.   Hi Everyone, My environment: Windows 2003, VS 2008, .NET 3.5 C# .NET application. During loading my application I call method from C++ dll (Knowl.dll) through my third-party dll library (Common.dll) written in C#. After first deploy (from VS to Developing server) evrything works fine. Then I stops Developing Server, doesn't any changes in code and redeploy. Throws AccessViolationException on this imported method. What is it? On second and after redeplies - the same error. Only after deletin source code and recheckout it from CVS I can normally start server. • Updatepanel refresh messing up JqueryUI in IE7

  Hey everyone, This is a bit of a long shot as I don't have access to the code at the moment. However, there's nothing 'special' about the code. I'm using a combination of JqueryUI and ASP.NET UpdatePanels. If I click any of the trigger controls (asp.net button), the partial-postbacks are fine. However, if I click on a trigger control after clicking on a JQueryUI button, then the entire layout messes up and a lot of the content moves upwards. I can just about reach a JQueryUI button, and when I click that, the layout returns to normal and everything's fine until I click the trigger control again. The page works fine in all latest browsers, but this problem appears in IE 7. I hope maybe someone has come across a similar problem in IE 7 and found a workaround/solution. I've been trying to fix it for a couple of days, but no luck. Thanks for any advice.

  Hej everyone, problem : I am looking for right way to convert an index from clustered to non-clustered Description : I have a table as below in sybase db: dbo.UserLog Id | UserId |time | .... This is hash partitioned using UserId. Currently it has 2 indexes UserId : non-clustered time: clustered This table has about 20 million records. I now want to make UserId as clustered index and time as non-clustered index. is it correct to user alter index to change from clustered to non-clustered or do i drop index and recreate. does the fact that userId is used in hash partitioning have any implications to this? To me alter seems way to go but I have not yet tried this.

• Grails and PermGen issue with g:link and g:render

  I've been running grails for sometime without any issues but recently after an upgrade to Grails 1.1.1, I've encountered the dreaded PermGen errors. Prior to the upgrade, no such issue. The error seems to be happening when the <g:link> and <g:render> tags are used in a GSP although I'm not sure it's indicative that this is the issue but more of the fact that it ran out of space when these tags were being rendered. Typically, everyone who encounters PermGen errors recommend increasing your java environment options -- but what maybe the source of the issue? Is it a Grails 1.1/hibernate/spring problem? • Wiki Database, is there one?

  I was searching the net for something like a wiki database, just like wikipedia but instead stores structured content, editable by users. What I was looking for was an online database accessible by everyone where people can design the schema and data with proper versioning of both schema and data. I couldn't find any such site. I am not sure if it is my search skills or if there really is no wiki database as of now. Does anyone out there know anything like this? I think there is a great potential for something like this. A possible example will be a website with a GUI for querying a MySQL DB where any website visitor can create DB objects and populate data.

  Hi everyone, I have a Drill Down menu and I want to have it gets its elements from a database, I am using php and MySQL and the table (categories) looks like this : http://yfrog.com/jctablehsj I can't figure out how I can extract these information in a way I could put it inside the Drill Down Menu ! I found the recursive method (with LEFT JOINs) and the nested method which I barely understood and again I couldn't apply it to the Drill Down Menu. I found that some people found out a solution with left join and group by but couldn't understand or copy their example ! I would be more than gratefull if you could give me the extact of the query. • sql server 2008 express one row write problem

  Hi everyone, I have the most bizarre problem(at least it is bizarre to me) with MSSQL Server Express 2008. The problem is the following: On the development machine I use MS SQL Server 2008 Enterprise....I get some data from a WCF service and write that data to the db (simple as it can be)....I should point out however that the writing, it is done in a separate thread. BUt, anyway no problems during development...all the data is there. Then I set everything up(connection strings .\SQLEXPRESS, other settings) build in Release and copy that to a test machine that has MS SQL Server Express installed(because my application is a client application and it should work with Express)...I run the program....the program retrieves the data from the service...and when I look at the database...I'm in for a big suprise...there's only one row written(the first row received from the WCF service). I would really appreciate any help...I'm in a deadlock here. Thanks in advance. Bojan

• wxPython - Save Items in ListCtrl

My question is if we can save the items on ListCtrl so everytime someone opens the application, the items are there and if the user removes it, it also removes from the configuration. I know that I can use wx.Config and I'm trying to accomplish using that but I don't know how to read it in a way to accomplish what I want. • In OpenGL vertex shader, gl_Position doesn't get homogenized..

  Hi everyone, I was expecting gl_Position to automatically get homogenized (divided by w), but it seems not working.. Why do the followings make different results? 1) void main() { vec4 p; ... omitted ... gl_Position = projectionMatrix * p; } 2) ... same as above ... p = projectionMatrix * p; gl_Position = p / p.w; I think the two are supposed to generate the same results, but it seems it's not the case. 1 doesn't work while 2 is working as expected.. Could it possibly be a precision problem? Am I missing something? This is driving me almost crazy.. helps needed. Many thanks in advance!

  When creating an WPF application with the MVVM pattern, it seems I have to gather the necessary tools myself to even begin the most rudimentary event handling, e.g. AttachedBehaviors I get from here DelegateCommands I get from here Now I'm looking for some way to handle the ItemSelected event in a ComboBox and am getting suggestions of tricks and workarounds to do this (using a XAML trigger or have other elements bound to the selected item, etc.). Ok, I can go down this road, but it seems to be reinventing the wheel. It would be nice to just have an ItemSelected command that I can handle in my ViewModel. Am I missing some set of standard tools or is everyone doing MVVM with WPF basically building and putting together their own collection of tools just so they can do the simplest plumbing tasks with events and commands, things that take only a couple lines in code-behind with a Click="eventHandler"?

  Hi everyone. I'm having hard time with Xhtml Strict 1.0 and Css. And I'm almost out of solutions. My Site Url: http://www.pro-turk.net/beta/ I made a jquery multilevel dropdown menu for my site. It looks like OK, but I have used inline-block property of css display attribute on navigation menu which is a part of css 2.1 and isn't supported by some browsers (including ie6 and ie7). I want to make #nav li elements block level elements, but to do this and having all of them in same line, the only way is using float in #nav li. But I want to center them in their parent (the menu bar). So I need something like float:center (I know it's pretty stupid and doesn't exist). But is there a way to include block level elements as children elements without linebreaks (I mean without making a block level element). Regards.

• Wanting a simple overview on how to connect to a SQLite database in Cocoa/Objective-C

  Hi, everyone. I've been experimenting with Cocoa and Objective-C programming on the Mac for a few months now, and I am wanting to start developing applications that manage large amounts of data. The trouble is, I'm not really sure where to start with databases. I have a good background in Java programming with SQLite. I've read a bit about CoreData and I haven't been able to find any good resources for just manually connecting to the database. I'm looking for recommendations. Should I try CoreData, and if so, can anyone recommend a good tutorial for someone new to the language? Or, should I try to manually connect and query an SQLite database somehow, and, if so, any tutorials? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

• Is there a standard Java utility to parse XSD files at runtime?

  I've been looking around for a way to programmatically parse XSD files to generate an XML mapping so that I can take any XSD file and create a parser that will parse any XML file that conforms to it, and my google-fu has been coming up short. XSOM looks promising, as it will parse an XSD file and make all its attributes available in a straight forward way. Are there any other options or standard libraries available that will produce an XML file parser from an XSD file? [Conclusion] Thanks everyone for your responses, they were a real help. I was able to write implementations using JAXP, Eclipses EMF and in XSOM that all worked as desired. JAXP was very straight forward and easy to learn and do. EMF was actually a pain to get going properly, there were so many jars that had to be included for it to work standalone that I would not recommend it. XSOM was even simpler than the JAXP implementation, so I went with it in the end.

• Access SDExplorer (System Folder) from my C# app

  Hello everyone I am trying out Windows Live SkyDrive, and I installed SDExplorer (http://www.cloudstorageexplorer.com/) It works by adding my SkyDrive folder to Windows Explorer, but it does not get a drive name or anything, so how can I access that drive/folder from my C# application? When I go into the folder and look at the address bar it says "Computer\SDExplorer". Directory.GetDirectories(@"\Computer\SDExplorer") does not work, because it translates to "C:\Computer\SDExplorer". I would like to be able to create a small application that can create folders and upload files to my SkyDrive account. Anybody know how these special folder/drives work? - I noticed MozyHome appears in the same way in my Windows Explorer.

• SVNKit's SVNCpoyClient method not working properly

  Hi Everyone, I am having trouble copying file using SVNKit. After copying the files from source to destination files end up one folder above the intended folder. For ex: When copying files from "https://example.com/svn/repos/trunk/project/src/ex.txt" to "https://example.com/svn/repos/branches/PackageN/project/src", files end up in "project" folder inside PackageN while my intention is to move it to "src" folder inside "project. • Bash script — determine if file modified?

  I have a Bash script that repeatedly copies files every 5 seconds. But this is a touch overkill as usually there is no change. I know about the Linux command watch but as this script will be used on OS X computers (which don’t have watch, and I don’t want to make everyone install macports) I need to be able to check if a file is modified or not with straight Bash code. Should I be checking the file modified time? How can I do that? Edit: I was hoping to expand my script to do more than just copy the file, if it detected a change. So is there a pure-bash way to do this?
