  • How can I find the method that called the current method?

    When logging in C#, how can I learn the name of the method that called the current method? I know all about System.Reflection.MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod(), but I want to go one step beneath this in the stack trace. I've considered parsing the stack trace, but I am hoping to find a cleaner more explicit way, something like Assembly.GetCallingAssembly() but for methods.

  • C++: How to extract a string from rapidxml

    In my C++ program I want to parse a small piece of XML, insert some nodes, then extract the new XML (preferably as a std::string) RapidXML (http://rapidxml.sourceforge.net/) has been recommended to me, but I can't see how to retrieve the XML back as a text string. (I could iterate over the nodes and attributes and build it myself, but surely there's a build in function that I am missing) Thank you

    I have a big project and I changed the name of 1st form from "Form1" to "WebBrowser", now I It gives me following error. The type or namespace 'Form1' could not be found(are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) cannot even Change the name back to Form1. it says cannot find WebBrowser.cs on disk its is renamed or deleted from the disk.     I am looking to write a few helpers in my own assembly modeled after the helpers in System.web.mvc. My problem is that I cannot use the call to Tagbuilder.ToMvcHtlString since it is internal. So if I return a string it wont be ready for asp.net 4 when it comes. I dont want to add anything to system.web.mvc as that is a given dll.

  • More GCC link time issues: undefined reference to main

    Hi Guys, I'm writing software for a Cortex-A8 processor and I have to write some ARM assembly code to access specific registers. I'm making use of the gnu compilers and related tool chains, these tools are installed on the processor board(Freescale i.MX515) with Ubuntu. I make a connection to it from my host PC(Windows) using WinSCP and the PuTTY terminal. As usual I started with a simple C project having main.c and functions.s. I compile the main.c using GCC, assemble the functions.s using as and link the generated object files using once again GCC, but I get strange errors during this process. An important finding - Meanwhile, I found out that my assembly code may have some issues because when I individually assemble it using the command as -o functions.o functions.s and try running the generated functions.o using ./functions.o command, the bash shell is failing to recognize this file as an executable(on pressing tab functions.o is not getting selected/PuTTY is not highlighting the file). Can anyone suggest whats happening here? Are there any specific options I have to send, to GCC during the linking process? The errors I see are strange and beyond my understanding, I don't understand to what the GCC is referring. I'm pasting here the contents of main.c, functions.s, the Makefile and the list of errors.     I tried to convert a project that relies on the vjs runtime to vs2010, but it errors out when trying to run. It's giving the error that "Could not load file or assembly 'vjslib' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format." I reinstalled the vjs runtime, but it didn't seem to help. Is there any way to get get .net 4 to work with this? Thanks!

  • ContentPresenter changing Foreground unexpectedly depending on where styles are located

    Hi, I'm having an issue with the ContentPresenter behaving unexpectedly based on whether the styles are located in the Window.Resources or in a ResourceDictionary. Specifically, I'm setting the Foreground of the default TextBlock to Black, then setting the Foreground value in my default button style to White.     In c# there are attributes such as [obsolete] that create compiler warnings that will be shown in visual studio. Is there an attribute that I can use to mark a method or a class with a comment that should be shown as a warning in visual studio when I compile? Something like: [TBD(Msg="Please change me after 2010 07 20")] public void Foo(){ } or is there a possibility that I can derive from System.Attribute and make my own attribute, configuring visual studio so that it behaves as I described.

    I need to access the MSP and PSP registers (the main and process stack registers) of the Cortex-M3 processor. I'm writing in C/C++. The µVision and associated compiler doesn't let you do inline assembly for this Thumb-2 only core (and I'm not sure that'd be such a good idea anyway).   • Is it a good idea to keep all the enums in one place?

    When I'm building a class library I usually create a file Enums.cs to hold all the enums used in the assembly. Here is an example: namespace MyNamespace { public enum Colors { Red, Green, Blue } public enum Shapes { Circle, Square, Triangle } } This makes all my enums easy to find, well organized and easy to access in code. I'm wondering if there is any reason why this would not be such a good idea?

    I've been mandated to write an application to migrate the Active Directory access models to another environment. Here's the context: I'm stuck with VB.NET 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0; The application must use the Windows authenticated user to manage AD; The objects I have to handle are Groups, Users and OrganizationalUnits; I intend to use the Façade design pattern to provider ease of use and a fully reusable code; I plan to write a factory for each of the objects managed (group, ou, user); The use of Attributes should be useful here, I guess; As everything is about the DirectoryEntry class when accessing the AD, it seems a good candidate for generic types. Obligatory features: User creates new OUs manually; User creates new group manually; User creates new user (these users are services accounts) manually; Application reads an XML file which contains the OUs, groups and users to create; Application informs the user about the OUs, groups and users that shall be created; User specifies the domain environment where to migrate the XML input file designated objects; User makes changes if needed, and launches the task operations; Application performs required by the XML input file operations against the underlying AD as specified by the user; Application informs the user upon completion. Linear features: User fetches OUs, groups, users; User changes OUs, groups, users; User deletes OUs, groups, users; The application logs AD entries and operations performed, plus errors and exceptions; Nice-to-have features: Application rollbacks operations on error or exception. I've been working for weeks now to get acquainted with the AD and the System.DirectoryServices assembly. But I don't seem to find a way to be fully satisfied with what I'm doing and always looking for better. I have studied Bret de Smet's Linq to AD on CodePlex, but then again, I can't use it as I'm stuck with .NET 2.0, so no Linq! But I've learned about Attributes, and seen that he's working with generic types as he codes a DirectorySource class to perform the operations for OUs, groups and users. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help, code sample, ideas, architural solution, everything!
