  • Checklist for Launching public beta

    - by Vinayak
I am developing a web app that is about to be opened for public beta. Does anyone know of or has prepared a checklist of the various steps that one needs to take to ensure a smooth beta implementation? The web app is coded using Java, MySQL on the server side and HTML, Javascript on the client side with a little Flash in one or two screens. I know this question is very non-specific, but I am looking for best practices/guidelines here. Thanks in advance.

    - by Al Katawazi
    I am trying to get silverlight smooth streaming going on a site I am bilding and it works fine with the big buck bunny sample code which looks like this: <object data="data:application/x-silverlight-2," type="application/x-silverlight-2" width="100%" height="100%" id="Object2"> <param name="source" value="SmoothStreamingBlackGlass.xap"/> <param name="onerror" value="onSilverlightError" /> <param name="initparams"value='autoplay=False,muted=False,stretchmode=0,displaytimecode=False, playlist=<playList><playListItems><playListItem title="Big%20Buck%20Bunny" description="" mediaSource="Big%20Buck%20Bunny.ism/Manifest" adaptiveStreaming="True" thumbSource="Big%20Buck%20Bunny_Thumb.jpg" frameRate="24.0000384000614" ></playListItem></playListItems></playList>' /> <a href="http://go2.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=124807" style="text-decoration: none;"><img src="http://go2.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=108181" alt="Get Microsoft Silverlight" style="border-style: none" /></a> </object> <iframe style="visibility:hidden;height:0;width:0;border:0px"></iframe> but if i change the code like this i only get a blank area when the page is rendered instead of the movie clip. <object data="data:application/x-silverlight-2," type="application/x-silverlight-2" width="100%" height="100%" id="Object2"> <param name="source" value="SmoothStreamingBlackGlass.xap"/> <param name="onerror" value="onSilverlightError" /> <param name="initparams"value='autoplay=False,muted=False,stretchmode=0,displaytimecode=False, playlist=<playList><playListItems><playListItem title="Robotica_1080" description="" mediaSource="Robotica_1080.ism/Manifest" adaptiveStreaming="True" thumbSource="Robotica_1080_Thumb.jpg" frameRate="24.0000384000614" ></playListItem></playListItems></playList>' /> <a href="http://go2.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=124807" style="text-decoration: none;"><img src="http://go2.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=108181" alt="Get Microsoft Silverlight" style="border-style: none" /></a> </object> <iframe style="visibility:hidden;height:0;width:0;border:0px"></iframe> Any ideas? I am using Encoder 3 to do the encoding set on microsoft smooth streaming for 720p with all the default settings.

  • How do I increase the number of evaluation points in geom_smooth for ggplot2 in R

    - by Halpo
I'm creating a plot and adding a basic loess smooth line to it. qplot(Age.GTS2004., X.d18O,data=deepsea, geom=c('point')) + geom_smooth(method="loess",se=T,span=0.01, alpha=.5, fill='light blue',color='navy') The problem is that the line is coming out really choppy. I need more evaluation point for the curve in certain areas. Is there a way to increase the number of evaluation points without having to reconstruct geom_smooth?

  • Antialiasing algorithm

    - by y_nk
Hello, I'm looking for a good way to antialias a bitmap i'm generating with actionscript3. My goal would be to achieve this processing from scratch. I read a lot on the subject but the most common algorithm are looking too loud to work properly within my swf, because i'm using a scale2x algorithm to smooth the edges of my shape. It doesn't have to be colorfull, since my shape is black and white ! Any hint would be appreciated, thanks :)

  • iphone uiwebview inital white view

    - by BahaiResearch.com
My app's main view has a uiwebview. It is white for a split second before it has time to render the HTML the app generates. Is there a way to make the uiwebview black, or another color, before it renders? The flash of white isn't part of my plan for a smooth visual transition. Objective-C or MonoTouch answers are fine, I am bi-lingual.

  • How do I lock the layout of my android program to one orientation

    - by Mike V
I'm trying to write a program that needs smooth orientation sensor samples as the phone is rotated all around. Every time the orientation of the phone is changed, it interrupts the data and freezes the program while the layout changes. How can I lock it in one orientation (landscape or portrait, it doesn't matter)? I assume it has something to do with android:layout in the xml file, but I can't find anything online.

  • Electroserver to Smartfox migration help

    - by Garrt
I've got several demonstration programs that use Electroserver, but I'd also want to test the same code using Smartfox. What is the most straightforward method to do this kind of migration? I know the types of classes that need to be changed, but since the terminology is slightly different in both libraries, it's difficult to make a smooth transition. Fortunately, the programs are simple and I can probably do a bit of trial and error in replacing each missing class, but is there a better solution? Thanks.

  • How should I display a notification bar in WinForms?

    - by mafutrct
You all know the "You've got new answers!" notification bar on SO. I'd like the same thing in a Form, preferably just as smooth. Is there a simple way? Or do I have to completely create this myself? My searches did not yield any good results, only lots of progress bars and popups in the system notification area, but that's not what I'm looking for.

  • Stuttering animation in iPhone OpenGL ES although fps is high

    - by guymic
I am building a 2d OpenGL es application For iPad it displays a background texture and numerous textures on top of it which are always in motion. Every frame their location is recalculated based on time delta and speed and the entire thing is being rendered at 60 fps successfully, but still as the movement speed of the sprites raises, thing look stuttering. Any ideas? Are there inherit problems with what I'm doing? Are there known design patterns for smooth animation?

  • Hi Quality texturing.

    - by Tigran
Hi all. I'm completely new in Open GL, so have a question. I need to apply hi quality texturing on the surface rendered via triangles . But on zooming i continue see the triangle's under the skin, it's not smooth. I use OpenGL built-in minMapping. So I wonder (lookig at other products) do i need to implement my own mipMapping algorithm or I'm doing something wrong ? This is what I want , more ore less, like a quality:

  • Convolve a column vector

    - by Geoff
This is an OpenCV2 question. I have a matrix: cv::Mat_<Point3f> points; representing some space curve. I want to smooth it (using, for example a Gaussian kernel). I have tried using: cv::Mat_<Point3f> result; cv::GaussianBlur(points, result, cv::Size(4 * sigma, 1), sigma, sigma, cv::BORDER_WRAP); But I get the error: Assertion failed (columnBorderType != BORDER_WRAP)

  • jQuery not taking effect immediately.

    - by iMaster
Is there any reason for my jQuery effects not to be taking effect immediately? I have jQuery hover fade effects, but then I also have CSS rollovers as backups for anyone who has javascript disabled. What happens is when you load a page and roll over a link, you get the CSS effect, but any time after that, you get the nice, smooth jQuery effect. Is there a fix for this?

  • What are the best JavaScript implementations of a gallery?

    - by gilles27
We need to implement a gallery feature for our client's new website. They had a similar feature on their last site, which used Smooth Gallery, which in turn was based on Moo Tools. We could go ahead and do the same however, before we do, does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives and if so, please explain why you feel your choice is better.

  • Pure sine wave inverter

    - by Nick
Not exactly programming (sorry) but I think it's pretty close and can be of interest to other programmers. I'm trying to setup a battery power station so that I can work from anywhere. I go surfing a lot and my idea is to be able to work from wherever I can park my car (given there's coverage). So, I'm getting a deep cycle battery, a 240V charger (I'm in Australia), and an inverter. At the back of my laptop it says 19V and 4.62A. From the people I've spoken to that means it consumes about 90W at most. So my inverter needs to be able to output about 100W. Most of them seem to be 200W and up so this shouldn't be a problem. I want to be able run my laptop for 10 hours (plus the 2 hours I get from the laptop battery) straight. According to the people I've spoken to and from what I gather online I need a battery that has the amp hours for my "amp draw". I have no idea how to calculate this but I've been guesstimating. Most deep cycle batteries seem to be classified using amp hours (Ah)... 35Ah, 50Ah, 75Ah, 100Ah, and so on. However the amp hours on those batteries is for a 240V and I seem to be using 19V. According to an expert I spoke to you'd need a 100Ah battery to power a 5A appliance at 240V for 10 hours (you only get about 50% useful power). That to me is 5A * 240V = 100Ah battery. So, naive as I might be I take 240V and divide that by my 19V and reach the conclusion that I can get away with a battery that's about 12 times smaller than that 100Ah. The expert told me I needed a 50Ah battery so that's probably what I'll be getting, but it would be interesting to know what I theoretically would need to power my laptop for 10 hours. As for charging the battery the expert I spoke to said I needed a 3-5A charger to be able to charge that 50Ah battery from flat to full in about 10 hours (I will just leave it plugged in over night). Now to my question. The expert said it's not a matter of "if" more like a guaranteed "when" my computer will stuff up if I don't use a "pure sine wave inverter". From what I gather the power that comes out of that battery is not as clean as the power we get in the socket at home. Apparently it's "square" and the one in the socket is nice and smooth. I've already got an inverter, but it's not "pure". Do I really need to buy the $200-300 pure sine wave inverter or can I get away with something else? Perhaps the laptop adapter that sits in the middle of my laptop power cable already fixes that wave to be nice and smooth? Thanks!

  • Reporting Trend Line

    - by Dave Jarvis
Hi, How would you create a line in JasperReports that follows the trend for the data, in addition to showing the data points? Here are before and after shots: Before After The Time Series report does not appear to have any such option to draw the orange line. (The orange line should be smooth, and thinner, but that's the general idea.) Any ideas how to craft such a report?

  • .net 3.5 to 4.0 Migration

    - by SARAVAN
Currently we are doing a payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) using some of the latest features like WCF, WF and the development for the same has almost completed. However, clients have shown their interest in migrating the developed payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (.Net 4.0). I don't have an idea about the expected challenges in the migration or if its just going to be very smooth. Any thoughts or comments?

  • UITableViewCell similar to one in "Things" app

    - by Fiedorowski
Hi im looking (but cant find) for sample app that will show me how to implement UITableView with custom UITableViewCell that is similar to one in the Things app, with smooth animation from read-only view (that hides empty cells) to editable view that shows only cells that can be edited, and custom cell with multiline input with small image. I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. Im new to Cocoa/Objective-C programming but Im familiar with Object Oriented programing concepts.
