• Facebook Graph API: Feed publishing showing up as link type instead of status?

  So I'm publishing to a Facebook Group's Feed in my app, using the Graph API. It works fine, except facebook keeps treating the published info as a 'link' feed item type instead of 'status' like it does when I enter the same from facebook's site. eg: string url = "https://graph.facebook.com/<id-of-group/feed?access_token=<access-token>"; string data = "message=hello"; webClient.UploadString(url, "POST", data); Now when I pull the feed items, the json that is returned has "item":"link", with "link":"http://www.facebook.com", whereas I'd expect it to be "item":"status" and no or an empty "link" property. Any ideas?

• How can I safely raise events in an AsyncCallback?

  I'm writing a wrapper class around a TcpClient which raises an event when data arrives. I'm using BeginRead and EndRead, but when the parent form handles the event, it's not running on the UI thread. I do I need to use delegates and pass the context into the callback? • What causes a WPF ListCollectionView that uses custom sorting to re-sort its items?

  Consider this code (type names genericised for the purposes of example): // Bound to ListBox.ItemsSource _items = new ObservableCollection<Item>(); // ...Items are added here ... // Specify custom IComparer for this collection view _itemsView = CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(_items) ((ListCollectionView)_itemsView).CustomSort = new ItemComparer(); When I set CustomSort, the collection is sorted as I expect. However I require the data to re-sort itself at runtime in response to the changing of the properties on Item. The Item class derives from INotifyPropertyChanged and I know that the property fires correctly as my data template updates the values on screen, only the sorting logic is not being called. I have also tried raising INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged passing an empty string, to see if a generic notification would cause the sorting to be initiated. No bananas. EDIT In response to Kent's suggestion I thought I'd point out that sorting the items using this has the same result, namely that the collection sorts once but does not re-sort as the data changes: _itemsView.SortDescriptions.Add( new SortDescription("PropertyName", ListSortDirection.Ascending));

It works on firefox, but safari just shows an empty download window. IE also can't get the file. Below is the example link. • URL encoded POST bad practice?

  I am (just for fun) trying to implement a High Score web-service. I would like it be compatible with REST principles. I want to be able to add a new highscore using url parameters like this http://mydomain.com/hs/add&name=John&score=987. According to REST this must be done using a POST request. Which leads to empty POST request with all data contained in the URL parameters. Would this be considered a bad practice? Update Security is currently not a big concern.

  For C# properties, I can do this: public class Employee{ public string Name { get; private set; } public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } which means that the Name property can be set within the class Employee & can be read publicly. But, if I want to restrict the set to only within the constructors of the Employee class, I need to do: public class Employee{ public readonly string Name = String.Empty; public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } But, for this case, I had to change the property to a field. Is there any reason this is not possible/allowed in C#: public class Employee{ public string Name { get; private readonly set; } public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } IMO this will allow us to have properties which can be set only in the constructor & does not require us to change properties to fields... • How to determine what in my script is blocking my HTML rendering?

  I have a web application that uses quite a bit of JavaScript. When the page loads, it's very clear visually that something is blocking the rendering of a particular portion of the web site. This portion is generated by a Tabber Tabify JavaScript library. How can I determine what's blocking the HTML rendering specifically so that I can modify my code to prevent this blocking? Can I use Firebug, or some other tool, to walk through my HTML/JavaScript to determine where the HTML rendering is being blocked and if so, how? UPDATE: YSlow gives my web-application a score of "A" and Page Speed give a score of 94/100. UPDATE 2: The live site is linked below. http://www.uptownelite.com/index.uncompressed.html?city=Dallas,TX What I'm specifically referring too is the actual Tabs themselves being rendering (and NOT the panel content inside the tab panes). It seems strange to me that the Tab headings themselves are taking so long to generate on the first (empty cache) page load.

Value cannot be null. Parameter name: languageTag What's the problem? Isn't this how to POST JSON to an MVC Controller? I can examine the POST using Fiddler and see that the request is correct. For some reason, UpdateLanguagePreference() is getting a null or empty string.

  Hi. I am trying to use JSON.stringify() (from json2.js of json[dot]org ) to convert a JavaScript array to JSON string and to pass it to an asmx web method. I use jQuery AJAX. The call reaches the web method where I take a List <Object> as parameter but I get an empty list there in debug mode. My JSON string looks like well formed with all data , I even tried having single-quotes and double-quotes(escaped) around the 'names' of the JSON string. Please help.

If I want to create a list of objects generated in a loop, I can do: a = [] for i in range(5): a.append(i) I want to do something similar with a numpy array. I know about vstack, concatenate etc. However, it seems these require two numpy arrays as inputs. What I need is: big_array # Initially empty. • Best way to implement refusing a value change by the user in Swing?

  I have a JCheckBox that should not be checked by the user when a certain other field is empty. So now I want to have an error popup and then reset the checkbox (I've considered disabling the checkbox, but the connection to the other field is non-obvious, and a tooltip text IMO not visible enough). What's the correct way to do that in Swing? Through a PropertyVetoException? Where do I throw it and where do I catch it? My first (probably ugly) idea would be to add a ChangeListener that itself shows the popup and resets the value.

  I want to have achieve something similar to Java Tiles framework using only client side technologies (no server side includes). I would like to have one page, eg layout.html which will contain layout definition. Content placeholder in that page would be empty #content div tag. I would like to have different content injected on that page based on url. Something like layout.html?content=main or layout.html?content=edit will display page with content replaced with main.html or edit.html. The goal is to avoid duplicating code, even for layout, and to compose pages without server-side templating. What approach would you suggest? EDIT: I don't need a full templating library, just a way to compose a pages, similar for what tiles do.

Question: What is the best way to get the values for duplicate-named nodes distinctly? My thought was to load all values matching the node name into an array and then using the array index to refer to them. I'm not sure how to implement that, though. (I'm not well-versed in XML navigation.)

I mean the method is called by multiple requesters And more then one requester may hit the second line at the same time while the cache is empty. So all of these requesters will retrieve the data and add to cache. The query takes 5-8 seconds. May a surrounding lock statement around this code prevent that action? (I know multiple queries will not cause error but i want to be sure running just one query.)

• click-event doesn't fire if blur changes layout

  I have a form with blur-events bound to the required fields. Then there is a "Cancel" Button which simply calls an URL (button is an image with click-event). When leaving one of the required fields a warning is written to the page saying that field xy is required. - this causes a layout shift, meaning all the fields and the buttons are moved down a little bit because of the text inserted above. The tricky thing is this: when the focus is in an empty but required field and you click the cancel button, the required-warning is written to the screen but the click-event on the cancel button doesn't fire. I think this is due to the layout shift. The mouse cursor doesn't hover over the button anymore, because the button scrolled down. Has anyone a good idea how i could solve this?

I want to check for the name to be valid, not for the file to exist. Examples: // Some valid names test under_score .dotted-name // Some specific names colon:name // valid under UNIX OSes, but not on Windows what? // valid under UNIX OSes, but still not on Windows How would I achieve this ? Is there some Qt built-in function ? I'd like to avoid creating an empty file, but if there is no other reliable way, I would still like to see how to do it in a "clean" way. Many thanks.
