  • Can't get decent refresh rate on crt connected to dvi

    Hi, I have a CRT connected to a dvi connector on a videocard using a vga cable and a dvi to vga adapter. Now I cannot set the refresh rate to anything decent (only 60Hz and lower). I've hat this happen using different CRT's, graphics cards (although all ATI, both agp and pcie), and operating systems (both linux and windows). Any idea on how to solve this, maybe some bios setting? Thanks

This week I've switched to OS X and can't seem to find a nice GUI-based app to allow me to connect SSH/SFTP/Remote Desktop thru an SSH tunnel. Can anyone please advise?     I know I can assign different wallpaper for each monitor that is connected to my computer in Windows 8(by right clicking and selecting "set for monitor 1,2,etc"), but I don't know how to assign different wallpaper slideshow or different theme for each monitor. Can anyone tell me how to do that? It is quite interesting to see different wallpapers on different monitors, but seeing static wallpaper on each of those monitors is no fun. thanks

    Hi, I wonder if the following things can be done with the HTML notes pane of freemind: Is it possible on the layout view to decrease the separation between lines? The panel is horizontal, is it possible to setup a vertical view? (I have a big, horizontal-like monitor) By the way, when I move the mouse pointer over a node, i can see the HTLM note associated with it, but its view (as a yellow square) only lasts for some seconds. Can it be made permament? Thanks a lot

    man zpool states that a vdev for a zfs pool can be a "regular file". Can I specify a sparse file (the warning about the integrity of the file being determined by the underlying filesystem should apply with the same relevance for a sparse file)? The ZFS administration guide on https://pthree.org/2012/12/04/zfs-administration-part-i-vdevs/ states that file vdevs "must be preallocated, and not sparse files or thin provisioned" (thanks to @jlliagre). On https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Experimenting_with_ZFS sparse files are used without any comment.

    In many Windows programs when I open a file, the GUI dialogue that starts with "Look in:" and provides a list of directories and files to open has a thin panel on the left-hand side with the following 5 icons: Recent Places Desktop Libraries Computer Network Is there a Registry Hack available for adding my own icons to this? I wish to add three for various folders related to the work that I do, and I haven't been able to find a way to customize this. Thanks in advance.

    I am trying to install opencv on Mac OSX Lion. brew install opencv I get the following error (and a few other similar ones) Error: The linking step did not complete successfully The formula built, but is not symlinked into /usr/local You can try again using `brew link jpeg' When I do brew link jpeg Linking /usr/local/Cellar/jpeg/8d... ln: wrjpgcom: File exists I do not understand what this means? Currently, when I "accept" outlook originated events they are added to my "work" cal by default and not sure how to sync this or have this sync'ed to my google cal.   • I know it is a VLC know issue, but cant find a workaround

    I installed VLC player, because it works better that other video player on HD videos, but know I have an issue all most of my games (All of those using Bink Video, that means all Unreal Engine games, Call of duty, and more). When I load the game, I can hear the videos, the audio is working, so I know the videos is loading, but there is no image on the screen! Once I read that it was a known VLC issue with DivX or something like that, cant remember, does anyone, know a way to fix it? Thanks in advance

    I want to delete all files that start with ._, when I run this command: me@me:/var/www/my/project$ sudo rm -Rvi ._* rm: cannot remove `._*': No such file or directory I'm pretty sure the . is causing problems, making it think I mean the current directory, what's the correct syntax to achieve this? But after nginx redirected the request to Apache, the port 8080 is visible from the browser.   • Resolving File Permissions ERROR when moving files from one user to another

    I am creating a tarball from a bunch of files in one machine under my $USER - I have set execute permissions to all the files, but when I copy it over to another user in a different machine, there is an 'access permission denied error' when that user tries to access some of the files. I do not have root/sudo privileges. How would I resolve that? What are the rules to create universally distributable tarballs? Thanks.

    Recently noticed that my icons settings in notification area are getting reset on system restart. For example I specify Skype icon to always show icon and notification. After I restart Windows - it's hidden again. It's not just for one specific icon, it's for all of them. Checking box "Always shows icons and notifications" works, and all icons appear, but this is not an option. Please help. Thanks.
