  • Sharing same properties of ViewController for iPhone Stroryboard and iPad Story Board

    - by Ruhul Amin
    I'm developing a universal application. in the first view, I have the login screen for the user. In iPhone storyBoard, I have added 2 text field and one button( login check). I have added properties in ViewController.h file by dragging those objects(Ctrl key + Dragg) to .h file. I have added code for login check and it is working fine for iPhone. This is the code in ViewController.h @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *txtUserId; @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *txtUserPwd; @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *btnLogin; In the iPad storyBoard, I have added 2 text field( userid and password) and i button for login. So now, I want to bind those objects with the veriable which I declared already in ViewController.h file in case of iPhone. My questions: 1. What is the right way to bind properties for both storyboard? 2. Am I on the right direction or should I think in a different way to do it? I am new with iPhone development. Please help. Thanks. --Amin

  • NSCFType keeps occurring, something is not being released?

    - by user1493543
    I'm attempting to delete files from the documents directory using a tableview/array combination. For some reason, my NSString pointing to the Documents directory path is being converted to a NSCFType (which after some research, I understand is happening because a variable is not being released). Because of this, the application crashes at the line NSString *lastPath = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:temp]; claiming that NSCFType cannot recognize the method stringByAppendingPathComponent. I would appreciate if someone could help me out (I hope I have explained this clearly enough). - (void) tableView: (UITableView *) tableView commitEditingStyle: (UITableViewCellEditingStyle) editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath: (NSIndexPath *) indexPath { if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { NSString *temp = [directoryContent objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSLog(temp); NSString *lastPath = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:temp]; [[NSFileManager defaultManager] removeItemAtPath:lastPath error:nil]; - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; directoryContent = [[[NSFileManager defaultManager] contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:documentsDirectory error:nil] retain]; //tableview handling below }

  • Is there a more efficient way to do this?

    - by garethdn
    I'm hoping there is a better way to the following. I'm creating a jigsaw-type application and this is the current code i'm using: -(void) touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; //location of current touch CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:self.view]; if ([touch view] == img1) { [self animateFirstTouch:img1 withLocation:location]; } else if ([touch view] == img2) { [self animateFirstTouch:img2 withLocation:location]; } else if ([touch view] == img3) { [self animateFirstTouch:img3 withLocation:location]; } else if ([touch view] == img4) { [self animateFirstTouch:img4 withLocation:location]; } else if { ...... ...... } else if ([touch view] == img40) { [self animateFirstTouch:img40 withLocation:location]; return; } } I'm hoping that there is a better, more efficieny way to do this, rather than naming every image. I'm thinking something like, if touch view is equal to a UIImageView, then perform some task. The same for touchesEnded: -(void) touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; //location of current touch CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:self.view]; if ([touch view] == image1) { [self animateReleaseTouch:image1 withLocation:location]; } else if ([touch view] == image2) { [self animateReleaseTouch:image2 withLocation:location]; } else if ([touch view] == image3) { [self animateReleaseTouch:image3 withLocation:location]; } else if ([touch view] == image4) { [self animateReleaseTouch:image4 withLocation:location]; } else if{ ...... ...... } else if ([touch view] == image40) { [self animateReleaseTouch:image40 withLocation:location]; } return; } Any help please?

  • Doxygen including methods twice doc files

    - by Maarek
    I'm having this issue where doxygen is adding the method twice in the documentation file. Is there a setting that stops auto-generation of documentation for methods within the .m file. For example in the documentation I'll see something like whats below where the first definition of + (Status *)registerUser is from the header XXXXXX.h file where the second is from XXXXXX.m. Header documentation : /** @brief Test Yada Yada @return <#(description)#> */ + (Status *)registerUser; Output: + (Status *) registerUser Test Yada Yada. Returns: <#(description)#> + (Status *) registerUser <#(brief description)#> <#(comprehensive description)#> registerUser Returns: <#(description)#> Definition at line 24 of file XXXXXX.m. Here are the build related configuration options. I've tried playing with them. EXTRACT_ALL with YES and NO... • Which way to store this data is effective?

    - by Tattat
    I am writing a game, which need a map, and I want to store the map. The first thing I can think of, is using a 2D-array. But the problem is what data should I store in the 2D-array. The player can tap different place to have different reaction. So, I am thinking store a 2D-array with objects, when player click some position, and I find it in the array, and use the object in that array to execute a cmd. But I have a concern that storing lots of object may use lots of memory. So, I am think storing char/int only. But it seems that not enough for me. I want to store the data like that: { Type:1 Color:Green } No matter what color is, if they are all type 1, the have same reactions in logic, but the visual effect is based on the color. So, it is not easy to store using a prue char/int data, unless I make something like this: 1-5 --> all type 1. 1=color green , 2=color red, 3 = color yellow.... ... 6-10 --> all type 2. 2 = color green, 2 = color red ... ... So, do you have any ideas on how to minimize the ram use, but also easy for me to read... ...thx

  • Textures loaded with NSOperation are blank

    - by Omega
    So I call this method: -(void)beginExecution { NSOperationQueue *queue = [NSOperationQueue new]; NSInvocationOperation *operation = [[NSInvocationOperation alloc] initWithTarget:self selector:@selector(execute) object:nil]; [queue addOperation:operation]; [operation release]; } Which triggers this: -(void)execute { [[CCSpriteFrameCache sharedSpriteFrameCache]addSpriteFramesWithFile:@"MyTexture.plist"]; loaded = YES; // This tells me whenever loading is done. } However, when I create a sprite and try to use the texture MyTexture.png, the sprite is a blank canvas. Why is that?

  • iPhone dev: UIBarButtonItem or title not showing up in NavigationBar

    - by IceMan85
    Hello everyone, here my problem. I have a NavigationBar at the top, a TabBar at the bottom and a TableView at the center of the screen. Very normal situation. I set it all up in IB and I have set this in the app delegate : ExpensesListNavController *expensesListNavController; This in order to be able to add new views to the stack. I need to have 3 levels: - list of items in a TableView - OK - firstLevel: once pressed one cell a view is added to the stack - OK - second level: one pressed the "modify" button on the navBar on the firstLevel I want to show a new view that can be customized by the user. My Problem is coming when trying to add the "Modify" button in the "firstLevelView". Here-below my code -(IBAction) modify:(id)sender { if (editableDetailViewController == nil) { editableDetailViewController = [[editableDetailViewController alloc] init]; } editableDetailViewController.expense = expense; [appDelegate.expensesListNavController pushViewController:editableDetailViewController animated:YES]; editableDetailViewController = nil; } // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; appDelegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; UIBarButtonItem *modifyButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Modify" style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(modify:)]; appDelegate.expensesListNavController.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = modifyButton; appDelegate.expensesListNavController.navigationItem.title = @"Titoloooo"; NSLog(@"NavBar button has just been set !!"); [modifyButton release]; Nothing is being showed, neither title nor the button. Do you have any idea of what is happening ?? I really cannot figure out !!! Thanks a lot in advance, AM

  • Save list of CGPoints using NSUserDefaults

    - by Chris Daviduik
    I have a bunch of CGPoints from a CCTMXLayer I want to save to NSUserDefaults but cannot seem to figure out an elegant way of doing so. Originally I was hoping to save an NSDictionary with an NSMutableSet for a value containing several NSValues (valueWithCGPoint). From what I can tell neither NSMutableSet or NSValue is supported by NSUserDefaults. At this point I am considering saving the x&y values of the CGPoint as a string and just converting it back and forth as needed.

  • Vertical text in a Horizontal UIButton

    - by ArQangel
    I'm using a vertical UIButton in a portrait app (Just a normal button that is of width 60 and Height 160) I want to put the label Vetically down the button instead of across it. When I use the following code to rotate the label [workPackageButton.titleLabel setTransform:CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(M_PI / 2)]; It rotates the label but the length seems to be constrained by the original width, so I get the ... abreviation in the middle. Is there an easy way round this?

  • Obj-C/Cocoa: Use of Shortcut Recorder Framework, how?

    - by Eike Cochu
    to capture keystrokes for registering global hotkeys i want to use the shortcut recorder. but i can't get it to work. here is what i have done so far: checked out the current version from the svn installed xcode 3 because my xcode 4 wouldn't build, then built it with xcode 3 in xcode 4, i added the shortcutrecorder.framework in the build-directory to my application, dragged/copied the SRRecorderControl.h to my application directory and inserted #import "SRRecorderControl.h" to my AppDelegate.h when i build and run, it fails and says images not found. i know that there are images in the shortcut recorder main directory, but i dont know where to put these. and: how do i add the special shortcut recorder textfield to my main window?

  • UITableViewController setting delegates and datasource

    - by the_great_monkey
    Hi iOS gurus, I'm a little bit confused about UITableViewController... As far as I concern they are typically the delegate and datasource of the UITableView (although it can be made such that they are different). However in some cases, like when embedding a UITableViewController in a UITabBarViewController in Interface Builder, we initiate our table view controller in IB. Therefore in my understanding, the default initialiser is being called. But in this case, I have this piece of code: @interface Settings : UITableViewController { } And in the IB I see that the delegate and datasource of the UITableView is hooked up to this class. My question is, why is it that we don't need to explicitly say that it is following: @interface Settings : UITableViewController <UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource> { } And in the .m file: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [tableView setDelegate:self]; [tableView setDataSource:self]; } I have indeed stumbled upon some cases where I have to explicitly code the above a few times to make something work. Although it is still a mystery for me as of why it is needed...

  • Releasing Autopool crashes on iOS 4.0 (and only on 4.0)

    - by samsam
    Hi there. I'm wondering what could cause this. I have several methods in my code that i call using performSelectorInBackground. Within each of these methods i have an Autoreleasepool that is being alloced/initialized at the beginning and released at the end of the method. this perfectly works on iOS 3.1.3 / 3.2 / 4.2 / 4.2.1 but it fataly crashes on iOS 4.0 with a EXC_BAD_ACCESS Exception that happens after calling [myPool release]. After I noticed this strange behaviour I was thinking about rewriting portions of my code and to make my app "less parallel" in case that the client os is 4.0. After I did that, the next point where the app crashed was within the ReachabilityCallback-Method from Apples Reachability "Framework". well, now I'm not quite sure what to do. The things i do within my threaded methods is pretty simple xml parsing (no cocoa calls or stuff that would affect the UI). After each method finishes it posts a notification which the coordinating-thread listens to and once all the parallelized methods have finished, the coordinating thread calls viewcontrollers etc... I have absolutely no clue what could cause this weird behaviour. Especially because Apples Code fails as well. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks, sam

  • UITableViewRowAnimationBottom doesn't work for last row

    - by GendoIkari
    I've come across a very similar question here: Inserting row to end of table with UITableViewRowAnimationBottom doesn't animate., though no answers have been given. His code was also a little different than mine. I have an extremely simple example, built from the Navigation application template. NSMutableArray *items; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; items = [[NSMutableArray array] retain]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemAdd target:self action:@selector(addItem)] autorelease]; } - (void)addItem{ [items insertObject:@"new" atIndex:0]; [self.tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:0 inSection:0]] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationBottom]; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return items.count; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } cell.textLabel.text = [items objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; return cell; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { [items removeObjectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationBottom]; } } The problem is, when I either insert or delete the very last row in the table, the animation doesn't work at all; the row just appears or disappears instantly. This only happens with UITableViewRowAnimationBottom, but that's the animation that makes the most sense for creating or deleting table cells in this way. Is this a bug in Apple's framework? Or does it do this on purpose? Would it make sense to add an extra cell to the count, and then setup this cell so that it looks like it's not there at all, just to get around this behavior?

  • Textfield being dequeued before textFieldDidEndEditing is called?

    - by Tony
    I am using a uitableview with a bunch of dynamically created custom cells each with a label and textfield similar to the settings app on the phone. Problem occurs when i have a lot of textfields say 20, the user selects the first textfield, changes its value then scrolls to the end of the table and selects the last textfield to edit. I get a EXEC_BAD_ACCESS in the textFieldDidEndEditing method because i think the textfield value is nil?? I think this might be happending because the 1st textfield that was being edited is being dequeued when the table is scrolled. Everything works fine if you select textfields that are next to each other. Any ideas how to fix this?

  • PDF search on the iPhone

    - by pt2ph8
    After two days trying to read annotations from a PDF using Quartz, I've managed to do it and posted my code. Now I'd like to do the same for another frequently asked question: searching PDF documents with Quartz. Same situation as before, this question has been asked many times with almost no practical answers. So I need some pointers first, as I still haven't implemented this myself. What I tried: I tried using CGPDFScannerScan handling the TJ and Tj operators - returns the right text on some PDF, whereas on other documents it returns mostly random letters. Maybe it's related to text encoding? Someone pointed out that text blocks (marked by BT/ET operators) should be handled instead, but I still haven't managed to do so. Anyone managed to extract text from any PDF? After that, searching should be easy by storing all the text in a NSMutableString and using rangeOfString (if there's a better way please let me know). But then how to highlight the result? I know there are a few operators to find the glyph sizes, so I could calculate the resulting rect based on those values, but I've been reading the spec for hours... it's a bloated mess and I'm going insane. Anyone with a practical explanation? Thanks.

  • image is not getting loaded in view.

    - by anurag
    I have created 2 views named "FirstView" and "SecondView".SecondView's nib file has an UIImage view object as its IBOtlet.Now I am getting an UIImage object from some FirstViewController's method.Now I am setting the SecondViewController's imageView property with that image and then I am pushing my SecondView Controller's object in Navigation Controller.The SecondView gets loaded but that image is not shown in that view. The code is as follows:..... - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingImage:(UIImage *)img editingInfo:(NSDictionary *)editInfo { [[picker parentViewController] dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; SecondViewController *secondView=[[SecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SecondViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; secondView.imageView.image=img; [self.navigationController pushViewController:secondView animated:YES]; }

  • iphone getting hours/min/seconds app crashes.

    - by coure06
    i have this code in my overridden drawRect method NSDate *date = [NSDate date]; NSCalendar *calendar = [NSCalendar currentCalendar]; unsigned int unitFlags = NSHourCalendarUnit|NSMinuteCalendarUnit|NSSecondCalendarUnit; NSDateComponents *comp = [calendar components:unitFlags fromDate:date]; NSInteger h = [comp hour]; NSInteger m = [comp minute]; NSInteger s = [comp second]; NSLog(@"%i,%i,%i", h,m,s); NSLog(@"test"); [date release]; [calendar release]; [comp release]; I am calling drawRect using setNeedsDisplay from my custom method (timer based after each 1 secon). It runs only once and then app exit automatically. If i comment out all the code and just write NSLog(@"test"); then application works ok, it logs "test" after each 1 sec.

    - by LaSha

Can you guys point me to the right path? or know any code samples that does this? Been stuck on this for days now. Thanks!!!

  • UITableView cellForRowAtIndexPath occasionally not called?

    - by Tobster
    I'm developing a graphing application that on the main navigation/tab view displays a UIView that renders a graph using openGL. Beneath that view is a UITableView that displays the list of elements on the graph, and an add button. Occasionally, when the user clicks on another tab, and then returns to the graph view tab, the table view does not get redrawn. I have a [tableView reloadData] method being called in the navigation controllers' (also the table view's delegate and data source) viewDidAppear method. numberOfSectionsInTableView and numberOfRowsInSection get called, but cellForRowAtIndexPath does not despite both latter methods returning positive values. This is an intermittant problem, only happening some of the time, but it's not clear what (if anything) influences this. Does anyone have any ideas?
