  • setting upload/space limit for FTP client

    As part of my web hosting plan i've also got a few domain hosted for family and friends. I have my own FTP account with full access and I would like to give FTP to a web designer and a user. Is there a way for restricing uploads larger than a certian size, or setting a size limit on the folder that the FTP access has access to? I'd rather not let them upload files ridiciously big.   • Encrypt pdf files with mcrypt and php

    I'm currently set up with a CentOS box that utilizes mcrypt to encrypt/decrypt data to/from the database. In my haste, I forgot that I also need a solution to encrypt files (primarily pdf, with a xls and txt file here and there). Is there a way to utilize mcrypt to encrypt pdf files? I understand the possibility of file_get_contents() with txt; is a similar solution available for other formats? Thanks!

    I have been using a MacOSX system for a while, but just only recently started poking into the guts. I found a guide telling me to run 'sudo ranlib /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.a'(installing libjpeg). I have read the ranlib manual, and tried looking online on it. I simply don't understand. What resources do I need to look up to learn more, or can someone give a concise explanation on its use?   • raid 6 vs raid 10? which would you choose.

    my choice would be raid 6 for a file server since you can lose two drives and it does not matter which set of two can die. from what i understand with raid 10 you can lose two drives but if they happen to be off the same raid 1 then you are a out of luck? any suggestions? basic file server with about 200gb of data and it would act as a single point of backup for other workstations and servers. thanks in advance.

  • How do I disable a laptop's build-in keyboard on ubuntu?

    I have a Kinesis keyboard that I ideally like to use by placing it on top of my laptop. When I do that, I wind up pressing keys on the built-in keyboard with my external keyboard. I've been playing around with the GUI keyboard controls and reading the ubuntu forums for a couple hours without really any forward progress. Even a hacky solution or a pointer to a good library for configuring multiple keyboards differently would be much appreciated. thanks.

    I am looking to create a custom boot DVD to run my unattended installs of windows 2008. I would like to have a menu system that lets the tech select what version of the OS they would like to install and version (x86/x64). I know you can run the windows 2008 setup, and exit to command prompt, but I would like there to just be a menu that will kick off whichever script needed. What would be the best way to do this?     Hey, I'm not a hardware person, so maybe someone here could help me. I ordered a PC from Dell that has "Serial ATA Raid 0 "Stripe"(7200RPM)Dual HDD" (2x500gb). However, I've just noticed that there's only one HD of 1TB (which is the default option when ordering). Should I be seeing two HDDs in "My Computer" or does the Raid0 setup simply improve performance rather than have (and display) two individual HDDs? How can I check if my computer does have a 'raid0' setup? Thanks

  • Snow Leopard and a Windows network

    I have just added a MBP to my home network and while I can connect to the internet etc, i cannot browse my home networked computers. I have already added a new location in my Network preferences yet when I goto the WINS tab, there is no dropdown to select my workgroup so i manually enter it. From what I have read, once I go to the finder and open the network, i should see the workgroup and systems...yet i do not. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Unfortunately I can't really give much more information unless anybody can suggest where I should look for logs or dumps etc? Simply put, when I load the program I immediately get the error "Pinta Has Stopped Working". I have tried: Running as administrator Installing to different partitions Installing to folders with no spaces in directory structure I have installed the GTK# for .Net 2.12.9 as required in order to install Pinta.   • installing SNMP in Windows x32 Customized Image

    I'm working in a environment of 40 machines, I've already installed snmp in 38 machines normally, but 2 of them appear to have been installed with a customized windows image, there is no OptionalFeatures, there is no ocsetup.exe, so I could not able to install SNMP. I tried to copy OptionalFeatures and ocsetup from another machine, but it don't work. For now I cannot simple format these two computer, it's possible to install it using another way?
