  • SD Card reader not working on Sony Vaio

    This laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-Z31MN/B PCG-6z2m) has been installed with Windows 7 64 bit, all the drivers from Sony's VAIO site are installed, and everything in Device Manager both (a) has a driver and (b) shows as working, no exclamation marks or warnings. "Hide empty drives" in Folder options is disabled so the card reader appears, but will not read the card ("please insert a disk in drive O:"). Previously, when the laptop had Windows XP on it, it could read the same card. Also, Windows update suggested driver ("SD Card Reader") doesn't work, Ricoh own drivers install properly but do the same behaviour. Other 3rd party driver suggestions from forums (Acer and Texas-Instruments FlashMedia) do not seem to install properly. I would post the PCI id if I had it, but it was just showing up as rimsptsk\diskricohmemorystickstorage (while it had the Ricoh Driver installed). Edit: If there are any lower level diagnostic utlities which might shed more light on it I'd welcome hearing of them. Anything which might show get it to put troubleshooting logs in the event log or identify chipsets or whatever...   • Android- Using DexClassLoader to load apk file.

    Hi guys, I've hit a bit of a wall. Any help would be appreciated. I have an app that I want to use DexClassLoader to load another apk file. Here is my code: DexClassLoader dLoader = new DexClassLoader("/sdcard/download/test.apk","/sdcard/download",null,ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getParent()); Class calledClass = dLoader.loadClass("com.test.classname"); Intent it=new Intent(this, calledClass); it.setClassName("com.test", "com.test.classname"); startActivity(it); Now I had already installed test.apk so when I ran the above code it worked fine and launched the application. However I want to be able to run this without test.apk being installed already (as that would defeat the entire point of the application) . So I uninstalled it and when I ran the my app again I get this error: android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: Unable to find explicit activity class {com.test/com.test.classname}; have you declared this activity in your AndroidManifest.xml. So I'm a bit stumped here. This activity is declared in the Manifest of the apk I am trying to run. I can't declare it in my applications Manifest. Any ideas? Thanks, Craig

  • How to resolve Windows Update Error 8024402F on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit?

    I have been having the same problem with Windows Updates on 2 of my machines at home, both running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. One of the 2 machines is a brand new install, the other has run Windows Update in the past, but is also not working now. When I manually check for updates using the Control Panel, I get error code 8024402F: I followed the link to "Get help with this error", which brings up several articles in Windows Help and Support, none of which are for this specific error code. From the help and general googling I've tried: Checking internet connectivity. Most of the help suggests that this error is caused by a general internet connectivity problem. But if you're reading this, my connection is definitely working fine. Disabling antivirus temporarily and trying to run Windows Update. This didn't help (I run AVG free) Running Control Panel - Troubleshooting - Security Systems - Fix Problems with Windows Update. This said it detected and resolved problems, but didn't help. Update using IE (as I used to in XP). Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ redirects me to http://test.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx for which IE displays a "connection problem" (i.e. site unreachable) I've had the same problem for 24 hours now, so surely the Windows Update servers haven't been down this whole time? A quick check on twitter shows no worldwide outcry about Windows Update being unavailable, so is it just me?   • MS Access 2003: Can data disappear from records and how do I test for this and prevent it?

    Problem and about the database: Data from a record in Access 2003 database has disappeared. This database has 1 backend and 3 frontends, multiple users and is hosted on Citrix. Within this database, we have records of all clients served, ranging in the 1000s. Background info: The form for client data entry is set up with various subforms, including both a "programs enrolled" subform and a "services" subform. A client can be enrolled in multiple programs. Once enrolled in a program, services can be entered for that program area using the services subform. There are multiple fields in the services subform, one of which is a drop-down field allowing you to choose from the programs a client has been enrolled in (the list is updated for that client whenever he is enrolled in a new program). The problem details: For one specific record and one specific program area, the program has disappeared from the "programs enrolled" subform and all of the related services have disappeared from the "services" subform for a period of 3 months of data entry. However, other programs and services for this record did not disappear. Questions: Is the disappearance of data a common Access 2003 problem? Are there tests in place that can be run to see if data is disappearing and catch that data? If so, what are they? If there is specific code involved, what is it? What can be done to prevent the disappearing of data (other than using a different database)?

  • Can't re-install OS on Asus Eee PC 1018P

    My friend has an Asus Eee PC 1018P. It has no CD/DVD drive (neither does he have a USB CD/DVD drive). The OS wasn't working fine, so we decided to restore the system using the provided OS backup from HD. But mid way through the installation it was interrupted and the computer was restarted (not a hardware or software issue – we did it). Now we cannot run the backup and we also tried to install Windows 7 through USB, but as soon as we start to install the OS, it says that some device driver is missing. It turns out that the OS needs a USB device driver to continue. It has USB 3.0 – maybe that's why the OS needs the driver. I tried disabling 3.0 and enabling 2.0 but then it does not boot from USB drive for some reason. We are stuck with this. The backup doesn't run and when booting from USB, it says that it needs a device driver. Anyone has any idea what we could do?

    I have installed unixODBC from source and mysql-odbc connector from .dmg installer on Mac OSX Lion. This was done a while ago, and at that time I successfully installed a data source (let's call it foo). Now I am trying to add another data source (DSN). I've done this through both ODBC Manager and the command-line tool myodbc-installer given with the tar bundle of the mysql-odbc connector from the mysql website. An entry shows up in /Library/ODBC/odbc.ini, which looks like this: [ODBC Data Sources] bar = MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver [ODBC] Trace = 0 TraceAutoStop = 0 TraceFile = TraceLibrary = [myodbc] Driver = /usr/local/lib/libmyodbc5.so SERVER = localhost PORT = 3306 [bar] Driver = /usr/local/lib/libmyodbc5.so Description = DATABASE = bar However, isql fails to find it: anitya:Preferences neil$ isql bar bar bar -v [IM002][unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified [ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect Weird thing is, the old DSN foo, which is not to be seen in /Library/ODBC/odbc.ini or /etc/odbc.ini, works fine: anitya:Preferences neil$ isql foo foo foo +---------------------------------------+ | Connected! | | | | sql-statement | | help [tablename] | | quit | | | +---------------------------------------+ SQL> I'm miffed about where the DSN entries need to be entered on OSX Lion to be found by isql.   • Ubuntu/Nvidia lists DVI dual cable as single

    I have an NVidia Quadro FX 880M graphics card, from which I am trying to drive 2 monitors: my internal laptop montior (15.6", 1920x1080, Nvidia driver says it's running via DisplayPort) and an external 27" monitor (Dell U2711, 2560x1440 native resolution, via DVI). I've hooked the dual DVI cable to the dual DVI port on my dock (Dell PR03X) and installed the proprietary NVidia driver, but I cannot seem to get the full 2560x1440 out of the larger 27" external monitor. Looking at the NVidia driver settings, the monitor's connection is reported as a single DVI cable, rather than a dual one, which would explain the reduced resolution. Does anyone have any experience with an issue like this? What can I do to make full use of my new monitor? (Possibly) Relevant Information: There is no DVI port on the laptop itself, but one is provided via the dock. The laptop and dock both provide a DisplayPort jack, but I have been unable to get this working on either w/ the monitor. I did have the nouveau driver installed when I installed the nvidia proprietary driver, but have since removed it (no change in the monitor situation when I removed it). The 27" reports a max resolution of 1680x1050. Thanks, Joe

I have a factory class that is responsible for creating and returning an (iPhone) UITextField and I'm trying to unit test it.     Forgive my ignorance, I am a JS programmer given the task to do DB replication using bucardo. I understand the concept of how bucardo works, but setting it up is a bit confusing. The set-up is: Lubuntu Linux Two databases test_master and test_slave, using PostgreSQL Each DB has a table named test, containing 2 columns: id (PK) and test (int) I use pgAdmin3 I have already added them to bucardo's list of databases and added all tables. Table: public.test DB: test_slave PK: id (int4) Table: public.test DB: test_master PK: id (int4) As you see, due to the fact that the DBs are identical, even the schema names are identical. So when I do: bucardo_ctl add herd sample_herd public.test Ok, so it got added to the herd. But this command gets confused which database public.test comes from. So when I add a sync: $ bucardo_ctl add sync sample_sync source=sample_herd targetdb=test_slave type=fullcopy Failed to add sync: DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: Source and target databases cannot be the same: test_slave at line 118. at line 30. It blows up on the second line of this NUnit set up method: IRotorContext _context; IServiceLocator _locator; [SetUp] public void SetUp() { _context = MockRepository.GenerateStub<IRotorContext>(); _locator = MockRepository.GenerateStub<IServiceLocator>(); _context.Expect(x => x.ServiceLocator).Return(_locator); } Just a quick aside; I've tried implementing a fake implementing IServiceLocator, thinking that I could just keep track of calls to the type registration methods. This won't work in our setup, because we extend the service locator's interface in such a way that if the type isn't Unity-based, the registration logic is not invoked.

  • Subversion 1.6 + SASL : Only works with plaintext 'userPassword'?

    I'm attempting to setup svnserve with SASL support on my Slackware 13.1 server and after some trial and error I'm able to get it to work with the configuration listed below: svnserve.conf [general] anon-access = read auth-access = write realm = myrepo [sasl] use-sasl = true min-encryption = 128 max-encryption = 256 /etc/sasl2/svn.conf pwcheck_method: auxprop auxprop_plugin: sasldb sasldb_path: /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb mech_list: DIGEST-MD5 sasldb users $ sasldblistusers2 -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb test@myrepo: cmusaslsecretOTP test@myrepo: userPassword You'll notice that the output of sasldblistusers2 shows my test user as having both an encrypted cmusaslsecretOTP password as well as a plain text userPassword passwd. i.e., if I were to run strings /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb I would see the test users' password in plaintext. These two password entries were created with the following subversion book recommended command: saslpasswd2 -c -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb -u myrepo test After reading man saslpasswd2 I see the following option: -n Don't set the plaintext userPassword property for the user. Only mechanism-specific secrets will be set (e.g. OTP, SRP) This is exactly what I want to do, suppress the plain text password and only use the mechanism-specific secret (OTP in my case). So I clear out /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb and rerun saslpasswd2 as: saslpasswd2 -n -c -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb -u myrepo test I then follow it up with a sasldblistusers2 and I see: $ sasldblistusers2 -f /etc/sasl2/my_sasldb test@myrepo: cmusaslsecretOTP Perfect! I think, now I have only encrypted passwords.... only neither the Linux svn client nor the Windows TortoiseSVN client can connect to my repo anymore. They both present me with the user/pass challenge but that's as far as I get. TLDR So, what is the point of SVN supporting SASL if my sasldb must store its passwords in plaintext to work?

    Hi all, I have an HP 2600n installed on a SBS2003 server. This printer works fine when I print from the server itself and also from my Windows 7 computer #1. From my Windows 7 #2, it doesn't work. I get the error message that I need to install the driver. The error message is in french but here it the translation. No drivers has been found Windows is unable to find a driver for HP Color Laserjet 2600n on the network. To find a driver manually, click ok. If not, click on cancel and contact your sys adm. I reinstalled from scratch the printer, deleted the driver... Still no luck Any takers?

  • Huawei E170 doesn't work with Windows 7

    I've got a "Huawei E170" (HSDPA broadband modem USB stick) with a driver CD for Windows XP & Vista, but now I got a netbook with Windows 7, and the driver installer won't run. I've called the telecom, but they just offered to sell me a new stick :-( Is there really no Win7 driver available for the E170 stick? Or can I trick it into installing anyway?

  • Snow Leopard Compatible Drivers for Moschip MCS7720 USB-to-Serial Controller

    We are using Cables Unlimited USB-2925 USB-to-Dual-DB9 serial cables, which use the Moschip MCS7720 controller. We have downloaded the newest driver from http://www.moschip.com/mcs7720.php, but that driver was last updated in 2005. It does not seem to be working with Macs running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. We have sent emails to the support addresses for both Cables Unlimited and Moschip. Cables Unlimited says they are checking with Moschip. No responses from Moschip yet. Does anyone know of any updates for this driver, or are there any ways to get the driver to work with Snow Leopard?

  • problem booting crusty old windows XP

    I have an acer aspire laptop running Windows XP home. I believe I have some virus on it, I'm not sure--I mostly just run linux in a VM on it so I wasn't too worried. I'm not sure if that virus caused this problem. The laptop wasn't recognizing my USB hard drive for some reason so I decided to restart it. When it started up, it got past the memory test, past the boot screen, (but it paused right here on a blank screen for awhile) and flashed the desktop once (like it does just before the login screen) and then crashed. I got a quick BSOD and then it restarted. Then it tried to boot again, etc etc infinite loop of failure. Well, before trying safe mode, I disabled automatic restart on system crash so I could read the blue screen. There wasn't anything important on it, it said *** STOP: 0x00000000 (0xC0000000 0x,.... ) beginning physical memory dump physical memory dump complete That's not verbatim (obviously) but it didn't help me. so I booted in safe mode, and it stopped on the driver gagp30kx.sys and then restarted (and infinite loop of failure again). I burned a recovery CD and tried that. It loaded it, and I went into repair mode. I ran chkdsk and then disabled the AGP driver. Same thing on booting in safe mode except it stopped at mup.sys instead. I enabled the AGP driver again, and ran chkdsk again from the CD. It said it found problems but didn't say it fixed them. So I ran it a second time, and it said "performing additional checking or recovery" lots of times (I can't tell how many, they went above the screen top). I tried booting again and no luck. Every time I run chkdsk after trying to boot again it says it found and fixed more errors. I think it might be whatever driver is after the AGP driver, but I don't know what it is or how to find out. Can anyone help me fix this?

The problem is, in my unit tests everything seems to load correctly, but users(:reginald).profile is always nil. What am I missing?

    I have a Lenovo v570 with a Nvidia GeForce 410m with cuda. It came with windows 7 and everything works well. However I just got bored of windows 7 and I'm yearning for xp. I installed xp and got everything to work except the Nvidia driver. In their website there is only the windows 7 nvidia driver available. I searched http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/26388 and got a driver for the 400m series. I tried the software and it didn't work, message << THIS GRAPHICS DRIVER COULD NOT FIND COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS HARDWARE . I also tried : http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/29285-v29610-windows-xp-32bit-nvidia/ This time the error message 'REQUIRED FILES ARE MISSING' Any help will be grateful.

  • Web service SSL handshake fails in production environment unless SSL debugging enabled

    Scenario: calling a client web service over SSL (https) with mutual SSL authentication. Different service endpoint URLs and certs (both keystore and truststore) for test vs. production environments. Both test and production environments run tomcat / JBoss clustered. Production environment has load balancing / BigIP, runs Blade and non-Blade machines. Truststore is set (using -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore=value) at startup. Keystore is set using System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", "value") in Java code. Web service call made using Axis2. All works fine in test environment, but when we moved to production environment (6 servers), it appears certs are not being forwarded for the handshake. Here's what we've done: in test environment, handshake using test versions of certs has been working all along, with no ssl debugging enabled confirmed in test environment that handshake with client production endpoint succeeds (production certs, both ours and theirs, are fine) -- this was done using -Djavax.net.debug=handshake,ssl confirmed that the error condition occurs on all 6 production servers took one server out of the cluster, turned on ssl debugging for just that one (with a restart), hit it directly, handshake works! switched to a different server without the debugging turned on, handshake error condition occurs turned debugging on on that second server (with a restart), hit it directly, handshake works! From the evidence, it seems like somehow the debugging being enabled causes the certificates to be properly retrieved/conveyed, although that makes no sense! I wonder whether somehow the enabled debugging makes the system pay attention to the System.setProperty call, and ignore it otherwise. However, in local and test environments, handshake worked without debugging enabled. Do I maybe need to be setting keystore on server startup like I'm setting truststore? Have been avoiding that because the keystore will differ for each of our test environments (16 of them).
