FF3/Windows CSS z-index problem with YouTube player

I'm stuck on what appears to be a CSS/z-index conflict with the YouTube player. In Firefox 3 under Windows XP, Take a look at this page: http://spokenword.org/program/21396 Click on the Collect button and note that the pop-up <div appears under the YouTube player. On other browsers the <div appears on top. It has a z-index value of 999999. I've tried setting the z-index of the <object element containing the player to a lower value, but that didn't work. Any idea how to get the pop-up to appear over the player?

ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken: verified with authentication token on the form!

I don't know why it happens but my form for some reason does not post properly. I am very sure the form contains the required authentication token: <form action="/account/complete_verify_email/4df78710-e27b-4527-bd2d-71cd2e9a1271" method="post"><div style="margin:0;padding:0"><input name="authenticity_token" type="hidden" value="341b07dfa682ed11a045e19956e2e3f5f499e8cb"></div> <input id="password" name="password" type="password"> <input name="commit" type="submit" value="Continue"> </form> Note the authenticity_token is there. What happened? And YOU KNOW WHAT? Quitting Safari and restart again solved the issue... but I can't think of what kind of intermittent behaviour could cause such problem.

jQuery: How to find elements *without* a class set

Hey jQuery clever peeps, Why does this fail... $( 'div.contactAperson input' ).not( 'input.hadFocus' ).focus(function() { $(this).attr('value', '' ); }); ...it's meant to sniff out input's that have not got the class .hadFocus and then when one of that subset receives focus it should zap the value to null. Right now, input values are always getting zapped -- the test .not( 'input.hadFocus' ) is failing to stop execution. Some of you may be annoyed with this question, and claim it's unsafe blah blah. I want to be able to put php into the database and run it. How can I get the element in which highlighted text is in?

I am trying to learn how to write a bookmarklet where I can highlight some text, click on the bookmarklet and have it tell me what got highlighted. I can get that far, but next I want to know what element that text is in. For example: <div id="some-id">to be highlighted</div> The bookmarklet code: javascript:(function(){alert(window.getSelection();})() If I highlight the text "to be highlighted" and then click on the bookmarklet, it will alert the text. But how can I get the element in which the text is in, in this case the element after that? So the flow is: highlight text, click bookmarklet, bookmarklet tells you what you highlighted and the element it's in. Thanks!

JQuery overlay - issues with opening twitter "Allow Access" box

Hey guys I'm using Jquery flowplayer tools overlay to open external links. External links are working fine with this piece of code shown in the link: http://www.demiseonline.com/misc/Iframeoverlay.html Now using this overlay - I wanted to open the twitter dialog which asks users to Allow access to their account. So in the code below, I replaced http://www.google.com with https://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=VPVRIsnRz9IX4CAab7brert3jHiEs <div class="apple_overlay black" id="Overlay1" <iframe src ="http://www.google.com" width="100%" height="595px" frameborder="0" </iframe </div When I replace the code, as soon as I load the page, even before I click on the link to open the overlay - the page gets redirected to the twitter URL. How can I return JSON from node.js backend to frontend without reloading or re-rendering the page?

I am working with node.js. I want to press a search button, make some rest api calls to another server in the backend and return the json back to the front end, and reload a div in the front end so that I won't have to refresh the page. Now I know I can reload just a div with jQuery or just Javascript dom manipulation. But how do I make it call a method on the server side? I could have a submit button and it will make a post request and I can catch it and make my api calls from there, however from the node.js side, when I return, I will have to render the page again. How do I go about returning JSON from the back end to the front end without re-rendering or refreshing my page? Thanks.

jquery .load taking too long after successive calls

The problem I am having is when I click multiple links, say 5-10 in a row, the load time goes from instantly to taking 10 seconds or more to not even loading. recaptcha image and curl + php

Curl shouldn't load the image for recaptcha but somehow it does though when i try to find the div, it is not there. Is there a way to capture the url of the recaptcha image?

I am creating some elements in javascript like so: var parent = document.createElement('div'); parent.setAttribute('id', 'parent'); var child = document.createElement('div'); child.setAttribute('class', 'child'); parent.appendChild(child); otherelement.appendChild(parent); I have a stylesheet which has styles for #parent and .child. However, it appears the styles are being applied to the parent but not the child. Does ie6 only support styles on id's and not classes or am I doing something wrong?

Problem with JQuery swapImage();

Hello!~ On my articles page (http://www.adrtimes.squarespace.com/articles) I have each entry start with an image that changes on rollover. This is working fine. However, on my homepage (http://www.adrtimes.squarespace.com), I am loading in the 2 most recent articles that are not categorized as video, and the 2 most recent articles that are tagged as video. I am using jQuery load() to pull in the content from the articles page. Everything works ok with that except the swapImage rollovers on the homepage. i tried including the swapImage function as callbacks but only one group or the other will rollover properly, not both groups of content. I'm not sure what the problem is!! Adding padding to HTML elements - IE, FF, Chrome etc.

Hello I've a doubt. Lets consider that we have a div of width 200px. If i add the following the style style="padding-left:10px; padding-right:10px" to the element what happens actually? Will the total width of the div increases to 220px with 10px at the left (for left padding), original width 200px at the middle and 10px at the right (for right padding)? Or will it takes the padding space from the 200px and becomes (10px + 180px + 10px)? Does the above rendering differs for each browser (especially IE and FF)? Thank you NLV

Is it possible to use JavaScript to submit an unnamed form from outside an iFrame?

I know that may sound silly, but I'm trying to submit a form on a page inside an iFrame, from the parent site. Limit checkboxes with jquery based on checked radio buttons

So, i have this problem with some checkboxes. First of all let me tell you about the "project" itself. It's a webform, the user must complete it and check some checkboxes and radio buttons depending on what he would like to purchase. First of them are 2 radio bullets, numbered 1 and 2, and represent the quantity of the product he wants to purchase. Next to those are about 5 checkboxes that represent the color of the product, it doesn't matter how many of them are, the thing is ... i want, when a user selects 1 at the radio buttons, only 1 checkbox to be active, if he selects 2 then only 2 checkboxes to be available to check. So.. could someone help me? I thought of jQuery but i don't know... There are two divs, the first div with the id of let's say #radioButtons has 2 radio buttons, and the second div has the rest of the checkboxes.

Hi, so I want to do something like when you press on LogOut, you get a waiting message like "please wait.." while its running ucp.php?mode=logout in the background, and after it has loaded that it should refresh the site. How should this be done?? Keep a Google Maps v3 Map Hidden, show when needed

Is there a way of preventing Google Maps (JS, v3) of being displayed from the get-go ? I do some pre-processing and would like to show my 'Loading' spinner until everything is good to go (more eloquently put, hide the map -- e.g. the container div -- until all preprocessing is complete -- at which point, show the map). Hooking to the map's 'idle' event doesn't help that much, since the map is already displayed when this event hits. I know that the container div gets inline-styled by GMaps after loading, my first idea is to clear out the style attr (whilst listening to 'idle'), but it would be interesting to see if there is a way of creating the map and not displaying it until all pre-processing is done. Maybe by using an argument to the new google.maps.Map constructor, or a MapOption ? Any thoughts on this ? Thank you in advance !
