• how to serialize / deserialize classes defined in .proto (protobuf)

- by make
Hi, Could someone please help me with serialization/deserialization classes defined in .proto (protobuf). here is an exp that I am trying to build: file.proto message Data{ required string x1 = 1; required uint32 x2 = 2; required float x3 = 3; } message DataExge { repeated Data data = 1; } client.cpp ... void serialize(const DataExge &data_snd){ try { ofstream ofs("DataExge"); data_snd.SerializeToOstream(&ofs); } catch(exception &e) { cerr << "serialize/exception: " << e.what() << endl; exit(1); } } void deserialize(DataExge &data_rec){ try { ifstream ifs("DataExge"); data_rec.ParseFromIstream(&ifs); } catch(exception& e) { cerr << "deserialize/exception: " << e.what() << endl; exit(1); } } int main(){ ... • How to set Source of s:BitmapFill dinamicaly? (FLASH BUILDER, CODE INSIDE)

- by Ole Jak
In Flash Builder (flex 4) I try to use next code to set selected by user (from file system) Image as a repeated background. It worked with mx:Image but I want to use cool repited capabiletis of s:BitmapFill. BTW: Technic I use also does not work with S:BitmapImage. Also FP does not return any errors. What Shall I do with my code to make it work? <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" xmlns:net="flash.net.*" minWidth="955" minHeight="600" > <fx:Script> import mx.controls.Alert; import mx.utils.ObjectUtil; private function btn_click(evt:MouseEvent):void { var arr:Array = []; arr.push(new FileFilter("Images", ".gif;*.jpeg;*.jpg;*.png")); fileReference.browse(arr); } private function fileReference_select(evt:Event):void { fileReference.load(); } private function fileReference_complete(evt:Event):void { img.source = fileReference.data; Alert.show(ObjectUtil.toString(fileReference)); } </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> <net:FileReference id="fileReference" select="fileReference_select(event);" complete="fileReference_complete(event);" /> </fx:Declarations> <s:Rect id="backgroundRect" left="0" right="0" top="0" bottom="0"> <s:fill> <s:BitmapFill id="img" source="@Embed('1.jpg')" fillMode="repeat" /> </s:fill> </s:Rect> <mx:Button id="btn" label="Browse and preview..." click="btn_click(event);" /> </s:Application> Any ideas?

• Turn class "Interfaceable"

- by scooterman
Hi folks, On my company system, we use a class to represent beans. It is just a holder of information using boost::variant and some serialization/deserialization stuff. It works well, but we have a problem: it is not over an interface, and since we use modularization through dlls, building an interface for it is getting very complicated, since it is used in almost every part of our app, and sadly interfaces (abstract classes ) on c++ have to be accessed through pointers, witch makes almost impossible to refactor the entire system. Our structure is: dll A: interface definition through abstract class dll B: interface implementation there is a painless way to achieve that (maybe using templates, I don't know) or I should forget about making this work and simply link everything with dll B? thanks Edit: Here is my example. this is on dll A BeanProtocol is a holder of N dataprotocol itens, wich are acessed by a index. class DataProtocol; class UTILS_EXPORT BeanProtocol { public: virtual DataProtocol& get(const unsigned int ) const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual void getFields(std::list<unsigned int>&) const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual DataProtocol& operator[](const unsigned int ) { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual DataProtocol& operator[](const unsigned int ) const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual void fromString(const std::string&) { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual std::string toString() const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual void fromBinary(const std::string&) { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual std::string toBinary() const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual BeanProtocol& operator=(const BeanProtocol&) { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual bool operator==(const BeanProtocol&) const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual bool operator!=(const BeanProtocol&) const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual bool operator==(const char*) const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } virtual bool hasKey(unsigned int field) const { throw std::runtime_error("Not implemented"); } }; the other class (named GenericBean) implements it. This is the only way I've found to make this work, but now I want to turn it in a truly interface and remove the UTILS_EXPORT (which is an _declspec macro), and finally remove the forced linkage of B with A.

• Winforms: calling entry form function from a different class

- by samy
I'm kinda new to programming and got a question on what is a good practice. I created a class that represents a ball and it has a function Jump() that use 2 timers and get the ball up and down. I know that in Winforms you got to call Invalidate() every time you want to repaint the screen, or part of it. I didn't find a good way to do that, so I reference the form in my class, and called Invalidate() inside my ball class every time I need to repaint to ball movement. (this works but I got a feeling that this is not a good practice) Here is the class I created: public class Ball { public Form1 parent;//----> here is the reference to the form public Rectangle ball; Size size; public Point p; Timer timerBallGoUp = new Timer(); Timer timerBallGDown = new Timer(); public int ballY; public Ball(Size _size, Point _p) { size = _size; p = _p; ball = new Rectangle(p, size); } public void Jump() { ballY = p.Y; timerBallGDown.Elapsed += ballGoDown; timerBallGDown.Interval = 50; timerBallGoUp.Elapsed += ballGoUp; timerBallGoUp.Interval = 50; timerBallGoUp.Start(); } private void ballGoUp(object obj,ElapsedEventArgs e) { p.Y++; ball.Location = new Point(ball.Location.X, p.Y); if (p.Y >= ballY + 50) { timerBallGoUp.Stop(); timerBallGDown.Start(); } parent.Invalidate(); // here i call parent.Invalidate() 1 } private void ballGoDown(object obj, ElapsedEventArgs e) { p.Y--; ball.Location = new Point(ball.Location.X, p.Y); if (p.Y <= ballY) { timerBallGDown.Stop(); timerBallGoUp.Start(); } parent.Invalidate(); // here i call parent.Invalidate() 2 } } I'm wondring if there is a better way to do that? (sorry for my english)

• Listview selects mutliple items when clicked

- by xlph
I'm trying to make a task manager, and I only have one problem. I have a listview that gets inflated. All the elements in the listview are correct. The problem is that when I select an item, the listview will select another item away. I've heard listviews repopulate the list as it scrolls down to save memory. I think this may be some sort of problem. Here is a picture of the problem. If i had more apps loaded, then it would continue to select multiple at once. Here is the code of my adapter and activity and XML associated public class TaskAdapter extends BaseAdapter{ private Context mContext; private List<TaskInfo> mListAppInfo; private PackageManager mPack; public TaskAdapter(Context c, List<TaskInfo> list, PackageManager pack) { mContext = c; mListAppInfo = list; mPack = pack; } @Override public int getCount() { return mListAppInfo.size(); } @Override public Object getItem(int position) { return mListAppInfo.get(position); } @Override public long getItemId(int position) { return position; } @Override public View getView(final int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { TaskInfo entry = mListAppInfo.get(position); if (convertView == null) { LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(mContext); //System.out.println("Setting LayoutInflater in TaskAdapter " +mContext +" " +R.layout.taskinfo +" " +R.id.tmbox); convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.taskinfo,null); } ImageView ivIcon = (ImageView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.tmImage); ivIcon.setImageDrawable(entry.getIcon()); TextView tvName = (TextView)convertView.findViewById(R.id.tmbox); tvName.setText(entry.getName()); convertView.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { final CheckBox checkBox = (CheckBox)v.findViewById(R.id.tmbox); if(v.isSelected()) { System.out.println("Listview not selected "); //CK.get(arg2).setChecked(false); checkBox.setChecked(false); v.setSelected(false); } else { System.out.println("Listview selected "); //CK.get(arg2).setChecked(true); checkBox.setChecked(true); v.setSelected(true); } } }); return convertView; public class TaskManager extends Activity implements Runnable { private ProgressDialog pd; private TextView ram; private String s; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.taskpage); setTitleColor(Color.YELLOW); Thread thread = new Thread(this); thread.start(); } @Override public void run() { //System.out.println("In Taskmanager Run() Thread"); final PackageManager pm = getPackageManager(); final ListView box = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.cBoxSpace); final List<TaskInfo> CK = populate(box, pm); runOnUiThread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { ram.setText(s); box.setAdapter(new TaskAdapter(TaskManager.this, CK, pm)); //System.out.println("In Taskmanager runnable Run()"); endChecked(CK); } }); handler.sendEmptyMessage(0); } Taskinfo.xml <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:gravity="center_horizontal"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/tmImage" android:layout_width="48dp" android:layout_height="48dp" android:scaleType="centerCrop" android:adjustViewBounds="false" android:focusable="false" /> <CheckBox android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/tmbox" android:lines="2"/> </LinearLayout> Taskpage.xml <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <ListView android:id="@+id/cBoxSpace" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="400dp" android:orientation="vertical"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/RAM" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="18sp" /> </LinearLayout> Any ideas for what reason mutliple items are selected with a single click would be GREATLY appreciated. I've been messing around with different implementations and listeners and listadapters but to no avail.

• Opening AFOpenFlowView already in landscape mode

- by justin
I'm using the open source CoverFlow replacement from here: http://fajkowski.com/blog/2009/08/02/openflow-a-coverflow-api-replacement-for-the-iphone/ When I detect that a certain view has gone from portrait to landscape mode, I instantiate an AFCoverFlowView and push it onto the navigation stack. If I do so in response to (void)didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation The cover flow view comes up as though the phone were still in portrait mode. If I push the view in response to (void)willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation it works perfectly - the view comes up in landscape mode with the phone in landscape mode Unfortunately, the device doesn't reliable get willRotateToInterfaceOrientation messages. I have tried making sure that [[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; is in loadView but that doesn't help with the notificiations. So, my questions are: Is there a way to reliably get willRotateToInterfactOrientation? if not How do I instruct AFCoverFlowView to come up in landscape mode (if the device is already in landscape mode)

• how to run/compile java code from JTextArea at Runtime? ----urgent!!! college project

- by Lokesh Kumar
I have a JInternalFrame painted with a BufferedImage and contained in the JDesktopPane of a JFrame.I also have a JTextArea where i want to write some java code (function) that takes the current JInternalFrame's painted BufferedImage as an input and after doing some manipulation on this input it returns another manipulated BufferedImage that paints the JInternalFrame with new manipulated Image again!!. Manipulation java code of JTextArea:- public BufferedImage customOperation(BufferedImage CurrentInputImg) { Color colOld; Color colNew; BufferedImage manipulated=new BufferedImage(CurrentInputImg.getWidth(),CurrentInputImg.getHeight(),BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); //make all Red pixels of current image black for(int i=0;i< CurrentInputImg.getWidth();i++) { for(int j=0;j< CurrentInputImg.getHeight(),j++) { colOld=new Color(CurrentInputImg.getRGB(i,j)); colNew=new Color(0,colOld.getGreen(),colOld.getBlue(),colOld.getAlpha()); manipulated.setRGB(i,j,colNew.getRGB()); } } return manipulated; } so,how can i run/compile this JTextArea java code at runtime and get a new manipulated image for painting on JInternalFrame??????? Here is my Main class: (This class is not actual one but i have created it for u for basic interfacing containing JTextArea,JInternalFrame,Apply Button) import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.event.*; import javax.swing.JInternalFrame; import javax.swing.JDesktopPane; import java.awt.image.*; import javax.imageio.*; import java.io.*; import java.io.File; import java.util.*; class MyCustomOperationSystem extends JFrame **{** public JInternalFrame ImageFrame; public BufferedImage CurrenFrameImage; public MyCustomOperationSystem() **{** setTitle("My Custom Image Operations"); setSize((int)Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize().getWidth(),(int)Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize().getHeight()); JDesktopPane desktop=new JDesktopPane(); desktop.setPreferredSize(new Dimension((int)Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize().getWidth(),(int)Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize().getHeight())); try{ CurrenFrameImage=ImageIO.read(new File("c:/Lokesh.png")); }catch(Exception exp) { System.out.println("Error in Loading Image"); } ImageFrame=new JInternalFrame("Image Frame",true,true,false,true); ImageFrame.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(CurrenFrameImage.getWidth()+10,CurrenFrameImage.getHeight()+10)); ImageFrame.getContentPane().add(CreateImagePanel()); ImageFrame.setLayer(1); ImageFrame.setLocation(100,100); ImageFrame.setVisible(true); desktop.setOpaque(true); desktop.setBackground(Color.darkGray); desktop.add(ImageFrame); this.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout()); this.getContentPane().add("Center",desktop); this.getContentPane().add("South",ControlPanel()); pack(); setVisible(true); **}** public JPanel CreateImagePanel(){ JPanel tempPanel=new JPanel(){ public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { g.drawImage(CurrenFrameImage,0,0,this); } }; tempPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(CurrenFrameImage.getWidth(),CurrenFrameImage.getHeight())); return tempPanel; } public JPanel ControlPanel(){ JPanel controlPan=new JPanel(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.LEFT)); JButton customOP=new JButton("Custom Operation"); customOP.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evnt){ JFrame CodeFrame=new JFrame("Write your Code Here"); JTextArea codeArea=new JTextArea("Your Java Code Here",100,70); JScrollPane codeScrollPan=new JScrollPane(codeArea,ScrollPaneConstants.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS, ScrollPaneConstants.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); CodeFrame.add(codeScrollPan); CodeFrame.setVisible(true); } }); JButton Apply=new JButton("Apply Code"); Apply.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event){ // What should I do!!! Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! } }); controlPan.add(customOP); controlPan.add(Apply); return controlPan; } public static void main(String s[]) { new MyCustomOperationSystem(); } } Note: in above class JInternalFrame (ImageFrame) is not visible even i have declared it visible. so, ImageFrame is not visible while compiling and running above class. U have to identify this problem before running it.

• C# how to correctly dispose of an SmtpClient?

- by JL
VS 2010 code analysis reports the following: Warning 4 CA2000 : Microsoft.Reliability : In method 'Mailer.SendMessage()', object 'client' is not disposed along all exception paths. Call System.IDisposable.Dispose on object 'client' before all references to it are out of scope. My code is : public void SendMessage() { SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient(); client.Send(Message); client.Dispose(); DisposeAttachments(); } How should I correctly dispose of client? Update: to answer Jons question, here is the dispose attachments functionality: private void DisposeAttachments() { foreach (Attachment attachment in Message.Attachments) { attachment.Dispose(); } Message.Attachments.Dispose(); Message = null; }

• Wiring up JavaScript handlers after a Partial Postback in ASP.NET

- by Richard
I am trying to use LinkButtons with the DefaultButton property of the ASP.NET Panel in an UpdatePanel. I have read and used the various other answers that are around describing the wiring up of the click event so that a full postback is not done instead of a partial postback. When the page loads, I wire up the .click function of the LinkButton so that the DefaultButton property of the ASP.NET panel will work. This all works fine, until you bring an UpdatePanel into the mix. With an UpdatePanel, if there is a partial postback, the script to wire up the .click function is not called in the partial postback, and hitting enter reverts to causing a full submit of the form rather than triggering the LinkButton. How can I cause javascript to be executed after a partial postback to re-wire up the .click function of the LinkButton? I have produced a sample page which shows the problem. There are two alerts showing 1) When the code to hook up the .click function is being called, and 2) When the .click function has been called (this only happens when you hit enter in the textbox after the event has been wired up). To test this code, type something in the textbox and hit Enter. The text will be copied to the label control, but "Wiring up Event Click" alert will not be shown. Add another letter, hit enter again, and you'll get a full postback without the text being copied to the label control (as the LinkButton wasn't called). Because that was a full postback, the Wiring Up Event Click event will be called again, and the form will work properly the next time again. This is being done with ASP.NET 3.5. Test Case Code: <%@ Page Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.UI.Page" Theme="" EnableTheming="false" AutoEventWireup="true" %>

DefaultButton/LinkButton Testing

DefaultButton/LinkButton Testing
<asp:ScriptManager runat="server" /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate>
<fieldset> <legend>Output</legend> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblOutput" /> </fieldset> <asp:Button runat="server" Text="First Button" ID="cmdFirstButton" OnClick="cmdFirstButton_Click" UseSubmitBehavior="false" /> <asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" DefaultButton="cmdComplete"> Enter Text: <asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtInput" /> <asp:LinkButton runat="server" CssClass="Button" ID="cmdComplete" OnClick="cmdComplete_Click" Text="Complete" /> </asp:Panel>
</ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> <asp:Button runat="server" ID="cmdFullPostback" Text="Full Postback" />

Here's what I have so far: package com.teslaprime.prirt; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.ListView; import android.widget.AdapterView.OnItemClickListener; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; public class TaskList extends Activity { List<Task> model = new ArrayList<Task>(); ArrayAdapter<Task> adapter = null; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Button add = (Button) findViewById(R.id.add); add.setOnClickListener(onAdd); ListView list = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.tasks); adapter = new ArrayAdapter<Task>(this,android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1,model); list.setAdapter(adapter); list.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(View v, int position, long id) { adapter.remove(position); } });} private View.OnClickListener onAdd = new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Task task = new Task(); EditText name = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.taskEntry); task.name = name.getText().toString(); adapter.add(task); } }; } and here are the errors I'm getting: compile: [javac] /opt/android-sdk/tools/ant/main_rules.xml:384: warning: 'includeantruntime' was not set, defaulting to build.sysclasspath=last; set to false for repeatable builds [javac] Compiling 2 source files to /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/bin/classes [javac] /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/src/com/teslaprime/prirt/TaskList.java:30: <anonymous com.teslaprime.prirt.TaskList$1> is not abstract and does not override abstract method onItemClick(android.widget.AdapterView<?>,android.view.View,int,long) in android.widget.AdapterView.OnItemClickListener [javac] list.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { [javac] ^ [javac] /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/src/com/teslaprime/prirt/TaskList.java:32: remove(com.teslaprime.prirt.Task) in android.widget.ArrayAdapter<com.teslaprime.prirt.Task> cannot be applied to (int) [javac] adapter.remove(position); [javac] ^ [javac] 2 errors BUILD FAILED /opt/android-sdk/tools/ant/main_rules.xml:384: Compile failed; see the compiler error output for details. • Workaround iPhone's browser not honoring the element

- by Sorin Comanescu
Hi, Just ran into this recently and I thought it'd be helpful to share. The HTML element is supported in a weird way by iPhone's (v3) browser. Try this: Click me! Tapping the "Click me!" label has no effect, the checkbox is not checked. Lack of support in a touch device for elements puzzled me and I tried to overcome this issue by using javascript. The surprise came when a I noticed a void javascript like the one below also did the trick: Click me! HTH Further info: Also works with an empty handler: onclick="" Disabling JavaScript inactivates again the label, even if using the empty handler.

• count clicks using actionscript 3.0 in flash

- by Michael Stone
I want to change the variable value based on the number of clicks. So if you click the button once, the cCount should equal 1 and twice it should equal 2. Right now all I'm returning for the value is 0, no matter the amount of clicks. Any ideas? btnRaw.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, flip); btnRaw.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,count); //create the flipping function //create the variable to store the click count var cCount:Number = 0; function flip(Event:MouseEvent):void{ raw_patty_mc.gotoAndPlay(1); } function count(Event:MouseEvent):void{ cCount = cCount+1; if(cCount>3 || cCount<6){ titleText.text="See you're doing a great job at flipping the burger! "+String(cCount); } }

• How do I copy object in Qt?

- by Martin
I'm using Qt and have some real basic problems. I have created my own widget MyTest that have a variable obj. I need to set this variable obj from an object outside of the widget so that the variable is copied not just a pointer to another object. I get an error message and can't figure out how to do this basic stuff. This is the code I'm using: MyTest.h: class MyTest : public QWidget { Q_OBJECT public: void setObj(QObject &inobj); QObject obj; .... } MyTest.cpp: void MyTest::setObj(QObject &inobj) { obj = inobj; //HERE I get the error message: "illegal access from 'QObject' to protected/private member 'QObject::operator=(const QObject &)'" } main.cpp: int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { QApplication a(argc, argv); QObject *ob = new QObject(); MyTest w; w.setObj(*ob); } Thanks for your help!

• Log4net duplicate logging entires

- by user210713
I recently switched out log4net logging from using config files to being set up programmatically. This has resulted in the nhiberate entries getting repeated 2 or sometimes 3 times. Here's the code. It uses a string which looks something like this "logger1|debug,logger2|info" private void SetupLog4netLoggers() { IAppender appender = GetAppender(); SetupRootLogger(appender); foreach (string logger in Loggers) { CommaStringList parts = new CommaStringList(logger, '|'); if (parts.Count != 2) continue; AddLogger(parts[0], parts[1], appender); } log.Debug("Log4net has been setup"); } private IAppender GetAppender() { RollingFileAppender appender = new RollingFileAppender(); appender.File = LogFile; appender.AppendToFile = true; appender.MaximumFileSize = MaximumFileSize; appender.MaxSizeRollBackups = MaximumBackups; PatternLayout layout = new PatternLayout(PATTERN); layout.ActivateOptions(); appender.Layout = layout; appender.ActivateOptions(); return appender; } private void SetupRootLogger(IAppender appender) { Hierarchy hierarchy = (Hierarchy)LogManager.GetRepository(); hierarchy.Root.RemoveAllAppenders(); hierarchy.Root.AddAppender(appender); hierarchy.Root.Level = GetLevel(RootLevel); hierarchy.Configured = true; log.Debug("Root logger setup, level[" + RootLevel + "]"); } private void AddLogger(string name, string level, IAppender appender) { Logger logger = LogManager.GetRepository().GetLogger(name)as Logger; if (logger == null) return; logger.Level = GetLevel(level); logger.Additivity = false; logger.RemoveAllAppenders(); logger.AddAppender(appender); log.Debug("logger[" + name + "] added, level[" + level + "]"); } And here's an example of what we see in our logs... 2010-05-06 15:50:39,781 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.Impl.SessionImpl - running ISession.Dispose() 2010-05-06 15:50:39,781 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.Impl.SessionImpl - closing session 2010-05-06 15:50:39,781 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.AdoNet.AbstractBatcher - running BatcherImpl.Dispose(true) 2010-05-06 15:50:39,796 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.Impl.SessionImpl - running ISession.Dispose() 2010-05-06 15:50:39,796 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.Impl.SessionImpl - closing session 2010-05-06 15:50:39,796 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.AdoNet.AbstractBatcher - running BatcherImpl.Dispose(true) 2010-05-06 15:50:39,796 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.Impl.SessionImpl - running ISession.Dispose() 2010-05-06 15:50:39,796 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.Impl.SessionImpl - closing session 2010-05-06 15:50:39,796 [1] DEBUG NHibernate.AdoNet.AbstractBatcher - running BatcherImpl.Dispose(true) Any hints welcome.

• How do I get around Inconsistant accessibilty error in C # ?

- by xarzu
How do I get around Inconsistant accessibilty error in C # ? I need to pass a pointer to a node in a linked list to a method. When I do, I get a "Compiler Error CS0051" Example The following sample generates CS0051: Copy Code // CS0051.cs public class A { // Try making B public since F is public // B is implicitly private here class B { } public static void F(B b) // CS0051 { } public static void Main() { } } That is a simple example. The actual program is a bit more complicated. I am actually using a node in a linked list to pass to the method LinkedListNode node The method uses recursion because the node is mart of a huge linked list structure of linked lists that outputs an xml file. Either I have to find a way to use recursion without using methods or I need to find a way to pass pointers nodes or actual nodes.

• Long Running Stored Proc - Report Progress Using BackgroundWorker & Timer

- by daveywc
While a long running stored proc (RMR_Seek) is executing (called via a Linq-To-SQL data context) I am trying to call another stored proc (RMR_GetLatestModelMessage) to check a table for the latest status message. The long running stored proc updates the table in question with status messages as it executes. I want to display the status message on a message panel to advise the user of the status of the execution of Proc_A. For various reasons it is not possible to determine how long RMR_Seek will take to execute so a progress bar with percentage increments is not feasible. I thought I'd found the way to do it by calling the long running stored proc from in a BackgroundWorker process DoWork event handler. This worked fine and allowed me to update my message panel with some dummy status messages that were NOT obtained via Proc_B while Proc_A was running. However now that I have tried to implement this fully by calling Proc_B to obtain the status messages I am running into problems that seem to be related to the mix of the backgroundworker and my System.Windows.Forms.Timer. An extract of the code I am using is below. I have tried many different ways around this but each one seems to present its own set of problems. The code below is problematic in the bw_DoWork event. The RMR_Seek stored proc gets called but does not execute properly - it also seems to be inconsistent as to whether _IsCompleted gets set to true. I'm sure there is a better way to achieve what I am trying to do. private bool _IsCompleted; private void RunRevenueSeek() { if (_SelectedModel == null) { MessageBox.Show("Please select a model from the list and try again.", "Model Generation", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information); } else { var bw = new BackgroundWorker(); bw.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(bw_DoWork); ProgressPanelControl.Visible = true; _IsCompleted = false; MessageTimer.Start(); // Has an interval of 3000 bw.RunWorkerAsync(); ProgressLabelControl.Text = "Refreshing Data"; this.Update(); ...more code goes here } } private void bw_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { using (var dc = new RevMdlrDataClassesDataContext()) { dc.CommandTimeout = 300; dc.RMR_Seek(_SelectedModel.ModelSet_ID); _IsCompleted = true; } } private void MessageTimer_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { string message = ""; if (_IsCompleted) { MessageTimer.Stop(); } else { using (var dc = new RevMdlrDataClassesDataContext()) { dc.CommandTimeout = 300; dc.RMR_GetLatestModelMessage(_SelectedModel.ModelSet_ID, ref message); ProgressLabelControl.Text = message; this.Update(); } } }

• What's wrong with my cross-thread call in Windows Forms?

- by MainMa
Hi, I encounter a problem with a Windows Forms application. A form must be displayed from another thread. So in the form class, I have the following code: private delegate void DisplayDialogCallback(); public void DisplayDialog() { if (this.InvokeRequired) { this.Invoke(new DisplayDialogCallback(DisplayDialog)); } else { this.ShowDialog(); } } Now, every time I run this, an InvalidOperationException is thrown on the line this.ShowDialog();: "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'SampleForm' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." What's wrong with this piece of code? Isn't it a valid way to make cross-thread calls? Is there something special with ShowDialog()?

• Address Book callback not called

- by Oliver
I have an iPhone app that makes use of the AddressBook.framework and uses Core Data to store these contacts. In order to make sure I update my own database when the Address Book is updated (whether via MobileMe or editing within my own app), I am subscribing to the notification as to when the Address Book is updating. I call this on startup: ABAddressBookRef book = ABAddressBookCreate(); ABAddressBookRegisterExternalChangeCallback(book, addressBookChanged, self); Which (supposedly) calls this on any editing. I have an ABPersonViewController which allows editing, and addressBookChanged never seems to get called. void addressBookChanged(ABAddressBookRef reference, CFDictionaryRef dictionary, void *context) { // The contacts controller we need to call ContactsController *contacts = (ContactsController *)context; // Sync with the Address Book [contacts synchronizeWithAddressBook:reference]; } Is there any reason for it to not be called?
