  • Does Chrome always adds an XLS extension on a vnd.ms-excel mime type?

    - by Claudio
It seems that a simple download of a PHP generated CSV file (with a vnd.ms-excel mime type for the sake of opening it with (Open)Office readly upon the "Save as..." dialog, when present) always gets the unwanted .xls extension when the UA is Google Chrome. The file would then be named as myfile.csv.xls. Firefox behaves correctly. I wonder if it is a bug, a feature or a misunderstanding of some references. Thank you.

  • Java EE without Application Server

    - by deamon
Since EJB 3 we have embeddable EJB containers, JPA implementations can be used without an application server, there is Weld for contexts and dependency injection and so on. Since on many systems is only Tomcat available, I wonder, if Java EE could be used without an application server but with a Servlet container like Tomcat. What would I have to do to set up an Java environment? What drawbacks do you see?

  • Is there any syntax checker for knockout.js?

    - by YMC
I like knockout.js, the only problem is Visual Studio knows nothing about this framework, so it does not prevent me from silly things like assigning some value to observable property with '=' operator which makes it regular property, and it's not easy to reveal at compile time and often at runtime even. I wonder is there any syntax checker/highlighter for Visual Studio 2010 that helps me prevent faults like this? What about VS 2011? It might be a great help for developers who are new to knockout. Thanks

  • List - Strings - Textfiles

    - by b3y4z1d
I've got a few questions concerning text files, list and strings. I wonder if it is possible to put in a code which reads the text in a textfile, and then using "string line;" or something else to define each new row of the text and turn all of them into one list. So I can sort the rows, remove a row or two or even all of them or search through the text for a specific row.

  • How to deal with Warning C4100 in Visual Studio 2008

    - by Jimmie
For some reason my Visual Studio 2008 began to show warnings for code like: "int main( int argc, char **argv)", which is really annoying. The detailed warning ouputs are (you can ignore the line numbers): 1.\main.cpp(86) : warning C4100: 'argv' : unreferenced formal parameter 1.\main.cpp(86) : warning C4100: 'argc' : unreferenced formal parameter I wonder if there are settings in Visual Studio 2008 that have been accidentally changed. Or how should I deal with this warning? Thank you all.

  • Just to not to be ingnorant.

    - by atch
Could anyone explain to me why is it that producers of processors claim that their processor can perform so many thousands (or millions) operations per second and yet typical program (Word, VS etc.) on my machine with 4GB, 3500hz starts with no less than 10sek. Have to mention that I've just formatted disk and tick any necessarry boxes to optimize my machine. So if for example outlook starts in 10 sek I wonder how many millions of operations have to be performed to run such program? Thanks

  • Why is Microsoft not developing a Halo-like next gen title using C#? [closed]

    - by Joan Venge
The question might look subjective but considering Microsoft: Owns the Xbox 360 platform Owns the Windows platform Have their own game studio (MGS) Own other 3rd party developers Is a major publisher makes me wonder why Microsoft doesn't push their flagship language to prove that not only you can cut down significant development time, and therefore money, but also show that you can release a next gen title where the real time interactivity doesn't suffer. If Microsoft were to do this once, I am sure many AAA developers would jump on that wagon too.

I wonder what are the available pure embeddable Java HTML viewers? The requirements are: Should implement JComponent interface to be placed into Scrollable pane. • String generation with regex criteria

    - by menjaraz
I wonder wether it is feasible to implement an optimal string generator Class meeting the following requirements: Generation criteria using regex Lexicographical order enumeration. Count propetry Indexed access I don't feel comfortable with regular expression: I cannot come up with a starting piece of code but I just think of a naive implementation using a TList as a base class and use a filter (Regex) against "brute force" generated string. Thank you.

  • Are there any Rails Plugins that use JS to poll the server for completion of a background process?

    - by btelles
I know it might be simple to write some polling JS that asks the Rails application if it has completed a background job. But I wonder if anyone has already packaged up this functionality as a plugin. Basically, I have a few delayed_jobs running, and am looking for a plugin that will poll the server for completion of a particular job, then activate a callback when it finds that the job is complete. Any ideas anyone? Berns

You can find an online version here: http://www.reversed-java.com/fernflower/ I'm trying to enable/disable all these flags that are present on that webpage. The actual command-line JAR can be found here: https://github.com/Bukkit/Bukkit-MinecraftServer Many thanks Nik

  • Solr PHP client vs file_get_contents?

    - by noname
I am using PHP to access Solr and I wonder one thing. Why should I use Solr PHP client when I can use: $serializedResult = file_get_contents( 'http://localhost:8983/solr/select?q=niklas&wt=phps'); to get the result in arrays and then print them out? I don't really get the difference. Are there any richer features with the PHP client?
