• Git svn - no changes, no branches (except master), rebase/info is not working

  I know that similar questions were asked before, but I think my is a little bit different, so please don't point me to existing threads. I'm migrating our old svn repo to git. I did git svn clone path --authors-file abc.txt and everything seemend legit to me. Then I did git remote add origin xyz and git push --all origin and it also worked. I created this repo as test one, with only me having access to both local repo and origin. No changes were made in project held on this repo, nothing to commit, no pushing and so on. There is also only one branch, because someone initialized svn years ago without creating proper folder structure (branches, trunk, tags). Meanwhile someone pushed their work to svn, so I tried to git svn fetch (which worked), and git svn rebase which didn't, giving me error: Unable to determine upstream SVN information from working tree history Is there any reason why git svn decided to stop working?

  I would like to develop a command-line program that can process and give "help" for subcommands. To be concrete, say I have a single script called "cgent" and I would like to have subcommands "abc", "def", and "xyz" execute and accept the rest of the sys.args for processing by optparse. cgent abc [options] cgent help abc .... All of this is straightforward if I hard-code the subcommand names. However, I would like to be able to continue to add subcommands by adding a class or module (?). This is similar to the idea that is used by web frameworks for adding controllers, for example. I have tried digging through pylons to see if I can recreate what is done there, but I have not unravelled the logic. Any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks, Sean

• Need suggestions on which web frameworks to use?

  I want to build a site where people can create their personal websites quickly. All their websites will be hosted on my single web application (i.e. there will be only one database which contains info of all the websites). Each person will have an account where he can customize his website (template, content etc.). They can access their website from .mysite.com or mysite.com/xyz. I should be able to add different modules frequently, which will immediately reflect in all the websites created through my site. Based on the above requirements, please suggest me if there are any frameworks to use which can ease my job. Also suggest me which language to use (php or java). Which one would be better.

In order to write a complete test script that branches the flow based on the some presence of some content in the popup window, I need to write a simple if condition that does something like if document.getElementById("xyz").value - that will run on the popup window and not the parent window. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? currently, the condition fails because it runs on the parent window. In the original string I got, I can replace the string such as to something else. BUT, in the same original string, if I want to replace a much long string such as the following, it won’t work.   I currently have this function to search and replace in a text file. // Input $ect = array('Visssa', 'Lisssa', 'her'); // Placeholders in the file $put = array('lname', 'fname', 'hisher'); // Replace the placeholders $oput = str_replace($put, $ct, 'tmpfile.txt'); This is not the full program but the idea is replace the values found in tmpfile.txt with the ones found in the $etc array. And it works flawlessly. But, what I need to do is get all passed vars (get/post) and then make the arrays so that the var is the value to replace and the value is the value to replace it with. So, if I sent the url http://xyz.com/?lname=tom&ogre=yes All instances of lname in the file would be replaces with tom and all instances of ogre would be replaced with yes. So somehow it just gets any/all variables passed in get/post and then the arrays showed above would cause the var to be replaced by the value in the file.

• Good way to send a large file over a network in C#?

  I am trying to build an application that can request files from a service running on another machine in the network. These files can be fairly large (500mb + at times). I was looking into sending it via TCP but I'm worried that it may require that the entire file be stored in memory. There will probably only be one client. Copying to a shared directory isn't acceptable either. The only communication required is for the client to say "gimme xyz" and the server to send it (and whatever it takes to ensure this happens correctly). Any suggestions?

If I take out the URL from JSON object and write the iterator with students.comments.data, it works.   Hi guys, I am having a javascript written like this. imageDiv.onclick = function(){xyz.deleteImage(param1, param2);return false;}; Now things are fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. But I have a strange issue in Internet Explorer. What happens is, when I click on the imageDiv in my page, the deleteImage() method is getting invoked twice. One being the actual deleteimage() method thats given here and another is the deleteimage() method that I have in the page. How to resolve this issue. Please help.

Meaning there would be multiple versions of the master app but with customization per client. example 200 of our clients get the master app and then can customize it (text and images only via web) Will Apple allow something like this? Is there another way to get around this distribution model?   Starting new .NET projects always involves a bit of work. You have to create the solution, add projects for different tiers (Domain, DAL, Web, Test), set up references, solution structure, copy javascript files, css templates and master pages etc etc. What I'd like is an easy way of cloning any given solution. If you use copy/paste, the problem is that you need to then go through renaming namespaces, assembly names, solution names, GUIDs etc. Is there a way of automating this? Something like this would be great: solutionclone.exe --solution=c:\code\abc\template.sln --to=c:\code\xyz --newname=MySolution I'm aware that Visual Studio has project templates, but I've not seen solution templates. Ideas welcome, thanks in advance folks!

Remember that username are different then broadband username and password. Suppose if I want to reset your password I simply need to know your broadband username and I can reset it myself. I just logged in with my username and when I open the page for reset password I can fill your bb username and password will work here. I have not tried this. the broadband username can easily guess. this is depend on same way how people’s broandband username made. IS this Safe ? Nope, There are many thing on the site which make me feel that is 1900 century website. They still lived in popup life.  These site are nothing but a crap. not work most of time and when work it’s run too slowly.

• Increasing deadlocks with NoLock

  One on my personnel pet issues is with inappropriate use of the NOLOCK hint (and read uncommitted) .  Dont get me wrong, I have used it in exceptional circumstances , but as a general statement it is a bad thing.  Mostly , when NOLOCK, is used the discussion is around a single statement,  “it runs faster with nolock for XYZ reason”,  however ,IMO, this is quite a shorted sighted view.  What about the Transaction ? What about other concurrent users ?  What is good for one statement in isolation , does not mean that it is good for the system as a whole.  I have seen on a number of occasions deadlocks happen, when tasks that would of(and should of) be blocked continue to execute, only for a deadlock to occur at a later data writing (INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE) statement.  Writers will block writers regardless of isolation level. By Way of (fairly contrived ) example , lets generate some dummy tables and populate with some data drop table a go drop table b go Create Table a ( col1 integer ) go insert into a values(1) insert into a values(2) go Create Table b ( col1 integer ) go insert into b values(1) insert into b values(2) go   Now make two connections. In connection one execute set transaction isolation level read committed BEGIN TRAN Select * from a Select * from b delete from a In connection two execute set transaction isolation level read committed BEGIN TRAN Select * from a Select * from b delete from b Right now the ‘select from a’ in connection two is being blocked by the ‘delete from a’ in connection one.  This is ,IMO, quite a healthy and natural thing to be happening , some see this as a ‘slow down’, a drop in performance.  So, lets reach for our ‘NOLOCK’ magic pill.  Cancel the blocked query and ROLLBACK both transactions, then in connection one execute set transaction isolation level read uncommitted BEGIN TRAN Select * from a Select * from b delete from b and then in connection two execute set transaction isolation level read uncommitted BEGIN TRAN Select * from a Select * from b delete from a We have now solved out performance problem , no more blocking.  Lets finish the work required by the transaction, in connection one , execute delete from a Oh, ‘ performance problem’ again , its now being blocked. Still, lets complete the work in connection two…. delete from b DEADLOCK!!  It is important to be clear about the role of the select statements.  They do not participate within the deadlock, but are preventing code executing that would of.   Additionally, without the select readers to block, a deadlock would occur on the deletes with READ COMMITTED. Naturally, other isolation levels will exhibit different behaviour as to where and when they will and wont block,  and I would encourage you to read BOL and satisfy yourself that you really do NEED to NOLOCK.
