  • IE8: weird border around HTML button element

    - by s427
    I have a button element with a custom background (image+color) and no borders except for a 2px border-bottom (and a bunch of other properties --code below) which renders quite differently in Firefox and in IE8. The problem is, this is a work for a company that uses IE8 as their only browser, so it's important that the button renders well in IE8. Here's a visual comparison between the two: My question here is not about the padding difference (I'm looking into that), but about the weird border that is visible on IE8 in addition to the regular border (border-bottom). Can anyone explain to me where it comes from and how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance. Here is the HTML code: <button class="btn" id="c_edit"> <span>Annuler</span> </button> And here is the CSS: .btn { display: inline-block; margin: 0 0 7px 5px; padding: 0; color: #ddd; font-size: 14px; font-family: FrutigerLTStd55Roman, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; border: none; border-bottom: 2px solid #222; background-color: #999; background-image: url('img/btn_bg.gif'); background-position: 0 bottom; background-repeat: repeat-x; cursor: pointer; transition: all .5s ease-out; } .btn span { display: inline-block; margin: 0; padding: 8px 10px 6px 40px; background-color: transparent; background-position: 4px 0; background-repeat: no-repeat; }

  • How can I hardcode input with the "select" system call in C?

    - by Archer
    If I understand this system call "select" correctly, it will loop waiting for user input from the keyboard or from an outside server. Every time I call "message_loop", I'm going to type in the same few lines of input each time. Is there a way to hard code this in so I don't have to type it in each time? void message_loop(FILE* fpin, FILE* fpout, Socket sock) { fd_set readfds, readfds_bak ; int in, max_fd, n, ret ; char buf[MAXMESG]; in = fileno(fpin) ; FD_ZERO(&readfds) ; FD_SET(in, &readfds) ; FD_SET(sock.socketfd, &readfds) ; readfds_bak = readfds ; max_fd = ((in > sock.socketfd) ? in : sock.socketfd) + 1 ; while(1){ readfds = readfds_bak ; /* select function */ if((ret = select(max_fd, &readfds, NULL, NULL, NULL)) < 0){ perror("select") ; break ; } else if (ret != 0) { if(FD_ISSET(in, &readfds)){ /* keyboard input */ fgets(buf, MAXMESG, fpin) ; if(send_message(buf, sock) == -1) break ; } if(FD_ISSET(sock.socketfd, &readfds)){ /* messages from server */ n = receive_message(buf, MAXMESG, &sock) ; if(n == -1) break ; else if(n > 0){ fputs(buf, fpout) ; fputc('\n', fpout) ; } fflush(stdout) ; } } } }

  • close file with fopen() but file still in use

    - by Marco
    Hi all, I've got a problem with deleting/overwriting a file using my program which is also being used(read) by my program. The problem seems to be that because of the fact my program is reading data from the file (output.txt) it puts the file in a 'in use' state which makes it impossible to delete or overwrite the file. I don't understand why the file stays 'in use' because I close the file after use with fclose(); this is my code: bool bBool = true while(bBool){ //Run myprogram.exe tot generate (a new) output.txt //Create file pointer and open file FILE* pInputFile = NULL; pInputFile = fopen("output.txt", "r"); // //then I do some reading using fscanf() // //And when I'm done reading I close the file using fclose() fclose(pInputFile); //The next step is deleting the output.txt if( remove( "output.txt" ) == -1 ){ //ERROR }else{ //Succesfull } } I use fclose() to close the file but the file remains in use by my program until my program is totally shut down. What is the solution to free the file so it can be deleted/overwrited? In reality my code isn't a loop without an end ; ) Thanks in advance! Marco

  • Strange Access Denied warning when running the simplest C++ program.

    - by DaveJohnston
    I am just starting to learn C++ (coming from a Java background) and I have come across something that I can't explain. I am working through the C++ Primer book and doing the exercises. Every time I get to a new exercise I create a new .cpp file and set it up with the main method (and any includes I think I will need) e.g.: #include <list> #include <vector> int main(int argc, char **args) { } and just to make sure I go to the command prompt and compile and run: g++ whatever.cpp a.exe Normally this works just fine and I start working on the exercise, but I just did it and got a strange error. It compiles fine, but when I run it it says Access Denied and AVG pops up telling me that a threat has been detected 'Trojan Horse Generic 17.CKZT'. I tried compiling again using the Microsoft Compiler (cl.exe) and it runs fines. So I went back, and added: #include <iostream> compiled using g++ and ran. This time it worked fine. So can anyone tell me why AVG would report an empty main method as a trojan horse but if the iostream header is included it doesn't?

  • Getting functions of inherited functions to be called

    - by wrongusername
    Let's say I have a base class Animal from which a class Cow inherits, and a Barn class containing an Animal vector, and let's say the Animal class has a virtual function scream(), which Cow overrides. With the following code: Animal.h #ifndef _ANIMAL_H #define _ANIMAL_H #include <iostream> using namespace std; class Animal { public: Animal() {}; virtual void scream() {cout << "aaaAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHH!!! ahhh..." << endl;} }; #endif /* _ANIMAL_H */ Cow.h #ifndef _COW_H #define _COW_H #include "Animal.h" class Cow: public Animal { public: Cow() {} void scream() {cout << "MOOooooOOOOOOOO!!!" << endl;} }; #endif /* _COW_H */ Barn.h #ifndef _BARN_H #define _BARN_H #include "Animal.h" #include <vector> class Barn { std::vector<Animal> animals; public: Barn() {} void insertAnimal(Animal animal) {animals.push_back(animal);} void tortureAnimals() { for(int a = 0; a < animals.size(); a++) animals[a].scream(); } }; #endif /* _BARN_H */ and finally main.cpp #include <stdlib.h> #include "Barn.h" #include "Cow.h" #include "Chicken.h" /* * */ int main(int argc, char** argv) { Barn barn; barn.insertAnimal(Cow()); barn.tortureAnimals(); return (EXIT_SUCCESS); } I get this output: aaaAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHH!!! ahhh... How should I code this to get MOOooooOOOOOOOO!!! (and whatever other classes inheriting Animal wants scream() to be) instead?

  • Template Child Class Overriding a Parent Class's Virtual Function

    - by user334066
    The below code compiles with gcc v4.3.3 and the templated child class seems to be overriding a virtual function in the parent, but doesn't that break the rule that you cannot have a virtual template function? Or is something else happening that I don't understand? class BaseClass { public: virtual void Func(int var) { std::cout<<"Base int "<<var<<std::endl; } virtual void Func(double var) { std::cout<<"Base double "<<var<<std::endl; } }; template <class TT> class TemplateClass : public BaseClass { public: using BaseClass::Func; virtual void Func(TT var) { std::cout<<"Child TT "<<var<<std::endl; } }; int main(int argc, char **argv) { BaseClass a; TemplateClass<int> b; BaseClass *c = new TemplateClass<int>; int intVar = 3; double doubleVar = 5.5; a.Func(intVar); a.Func(doubleVar); b.Func(intVar); b.Func(doubleVar); c->Func(intVar); c->Func(doubleVar); delete c; } This then outputs: Base int 3 Base double 5.5 Child TT 3 Base double 5.5 Child TT 3 Base double 5.5 as I hoped, but I'm not sure why it works.

  • HREF link that targets nothing, does not want to use hash or void(0)

    - by Mattis
    I have a link that I want to be able to click to trigger a piece of jQuery code. Currently I have <a href="#" id="foo">Link</a> and $('#foo').click(function(){ // Do stuff }); which works well. But, I have always hated using hash in this way. The page flickers and the hash is added to the page url. One alternative is to use <a href="javascript:void(0);" id="foo">Link</a> but I also dislike seeing that piece of code in the browser status bar. It looks tacky. What I'd rather have is an explanatory javascript placeholder that does nothing, like <a href="javascript:zoom();" id="foo">Link</a> which actually works, but throws an ReferenceError in the javascript console since there are no such function. What's the minimum definition of a function that does nothing? Are there any other alternatives? Should I just skip the link and use something like <span id="foo" style="cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;">Link</span> instead?

  • Jquery autocomplete with Dynamic input box.?

    I have done so much R & D for Jquery Auto complete, I found some result but not as much i needed. I am giving you code which are currently i am using . <input type="text" value="|a" name="completeMe" id="Subject" />// This input box will created by Dynamic using forloop // My Jquery Code $(function () { $("#Subject").autocomplete({ source: '/Cataloging/Bib/GetSubject', minLength: 1, select: function (event, ui) { // Do something with "ui.item.Id" or "ui.item.Name" or any of the other properties you selected to return from the action } }); }); // My Action Method public ActionResult GetSubject(string term) { term = term.Substring(2, term.Length-2); return Json(db.BibContents.Where(city => city.Value.StartsWith(term)).Select(city => city.Value), JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } // My code is running with static input but while creating Dynamic I need to use live event but i don't know how can i use Live Event with this code. NOTE: I am using static value of input "|a" after rendering on action i am removing that first two char to make proper search from database. Thanks

  • Why do I get this strange output behavior?

    - by WilliamKF
    I have the following program test.cc: #include <iostream> unsigned char bogus1[] = { // Changing # of periods (0x2e) changes output after periods. 0x2e, 0x2e, 0x2e, 0x2e }; unsigned int bogus2 = 1816; // Changing this value changes output. int main() { std::clog << bogus1; } I build it with: g++ -g -c -o test.o test.cc; g++ -static-libgcc -o test test.o Using g++ version 3.4.6 I run it through valgrind and nothing is reported wrong. However the output has two extra control characters and looks like this: .... Thats a control-X and a control-G at the end. If you change the value of bogus2 you get different control characters. If you change the number of periods in the array the issue goes away or changes. I suspect it is a memory corruption bug in the compiler or iostream package. What is going on here?

  • Why won't this work; opencv Mat_<float>

    - by user1371674
    I can't seem to get this to work. I'm trying to get the pixel value of an image but first need to change the color of the image, but since I cannot use int or just Mat because the values are not whole numbers, I have to use and because of that errors pop up when I try to run this on the cmd. int main(int argc, char **argv) { Mat img = imread(argv[1]); ofstream myfile; Mat_<float> MatBlue = img; int rows1 = MatBlue.rows; int cols1 = MatBlue.cols; for(int x = 0; x < cols1; x++) { for(int y = 0; y < rows1; y++) { float val = MatBlue.at<cv::Vec3b>(y, x)[1]; MatBlue.at<cv::Vec3b>(y, x)[0] = val + 1; } } }

  • How to remove the first and last character from a file using batch script?

    - by infant programmer
    This is my input file content which I am using to copy to the output file. #sdfs|dfasf|sdfs| sdfs|df!@$%%*&!sdffs| sasdfasfa|dfsdf|#sdfs| What I need to do is to omit the first character '#' and last character '|' in the output file. So the output will be, sdfs|dfasf|sdfs| sdfs|df!@$%%*&!sdffs| sasdfasfa|dfsdf|#sdfs Batch script is new to me, but I tried my best and tried these codes, :: drop first and last char @echo off > xyz.txt & setLocal EnableDelayedExpansion for /f "tokens=* delims=" %%a in (E:\abc1.txt) do ( set str=%%a set str=!str:~1! echo !str!>> xyz.txt ) and @echo off > xyz.txt setLocal EnableDelayedExpansion for /f "tokens=1,2 delims= " %%a in (E:\abc1.txt) do ( set /a N+=1 if !N! gtr 2 ( echo %%a >> xyz.txt ) else ( set str=%%a set str=!str:#=! echo !str! >> xyz.txt ) ) As you can see they are not able to produce the required output.

  • [FIXED] Scan file contents into an array of a structure.

    - by ZaZu
    Hello, I have a structure in my program that contains a particular array. I want to scan a random file with numbers and put the contents into that array. This is my code : ( NOTE : This is a sample from a bigger program, so I need the structure and arrays as declared ) The contents of the file are basically : 5 4 3 2 5 3 4 2 #include<stdio.h> #define first 500 #define sec 500 struct trial{ int f; int r; float what[first][sec]; }; int trialtest(trial *test); main(){ trial test; trialtest(&test); } int trialtest(trial *test){ int z,x,i; FILE *fin; fin=fopen("randomfile.txt","r"); for(i=0;i<5;i++){ fscanf(fin,"%5.2f\t",(*test).what[z][x]); } fclose(fin); return 0; } But the problem is, whenever this I run this code, I get this error : (25) : warning 508 - Data of type 'double' supplied where a pointer is required I tried adding do{ for(i=0;i<5;i++){ q=fscanf(fin,"%5.2f\t",(*test).what[z][x]); } }while(q!=EOF); But that didnt work either, it gives the same error. Does anyone have a solution to this problem ?

  • Using Relative Paths to Load Resources in Cocoa/C++

    - by moka
    I am currently working directly with Cocoa for the first time to built a screen saver. Now I came across a problem when trying to load resources from within the .saver bundle. I basically have a small C++ wrapper class to load .exr files using freeImage. This works as long as I use absoulte paths, but that's not very useful, is it? So, basically, I tried everything: putting the .exr file at the level of the .saver bundle itself, inside the bundles Resources folder, and so on. Then I simply tried to load the .exr like this, but without success: particleTex = [self loadExrTexture:@"ball.exr"]; I also tried making it go to the .saver bundles location like this: particleTex = [self loadExrTexture:@"../../../ball.exr"]; ...to maybe load the .exr from that location, but without success. I then came across this: NSString * path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"ball" ofType:@"exr"]; const char * pChar = [path UTF8String]; ...which seems to be a common way to find resources in Cocoa, but for some reason it's empty in my case. Any ideas about that? I really tried out anything that came to my mind without success so I would be glad about some input!

  • Problem using a COM interface as parameter

    - by Cesar
    I have the following problem: I have to projects Project1 and Project2. In Project1 I have an interface IMyInterface. In Project2 I have an interface IMyInterface2 with a method that receives a pointer to IMyInterface1. When I use import "Project1.idl"; in my Project2.idl, a #include "Project1.h" appears in Project2___i.h. But this file does not even exist!. What is the proper way to import an interface defined into other library into a idl file? I tried to replace the #include "Project1.h" by *#include "Project1_i.h"* or *#include "Project1_i.c"*, but it gave me a lot of errors. I also tried to use importlib("Project1.tlb") and define my interface IMyInterface2 within the library definition. But when I compile Project2PS project, an error is raised (something like dlldata.c is not generated if no interface is defined). I tried to create a dummy Project1.h. But when Project2___i.h is compiled, compiler cannot find MyInterface1. And if I include Project1___i.h I get a lot of errors again! Apparently, it is a simple issue, but I don't know how to solve it. I'm stuck with that!. By the way, I'm using VS2008 SP1. Thanks in advance.

  • Scanning, Checking, Converting, Copying values ... How to ? -- C --

    - by ZaZu
    Hi there, Its been a while now and im still trying to get a certain code to work. I asked some question about different commands etc. before, but now I hope this is the final one (combining all questions in one code). I basically want to : *Scan an input (should be character ? ) *Check if its a number *If not, return error *Convert that character into a float number *Copy the value to another variable ( I called it imp here) Here is what I came up with : #include<stdio.h> #include<stdlib.h> #include<ctype.h> main(){ int digits; float imp=0; int alpha; do{ printf("Enter input\n\n"); scanf("\n%c",&alpha); digits=isdigit(alpha); if(digits==0){ printf("error\n\n"); } imp=atof(alpha); }while(digits==0); } The problem is this code does not work at all ... It gives me that atof must be of a const char and whenever I try changing it around, it just keeps failing. I am frustrated and forced to ask here, because I believe I have tried alot and I keep failing, but I wont be relieved until I get it to work xD So I really need your help guys. Please tell me why isnt this code working, what am I doing wrong ? I am still learning C and really appreciate your help :)

Return HttpRuntime.Cache.GetOrStore(Of List(Of String))("TagNamesOnly", Function() _TagRepository.Read().Select(Function(t) t.Name).OrderBy(Function(t) t).ToList()) End Function All of this is pretty much straight forward except when I put a breakpoint on _TagRepository.Read(). The problem is that it is getting called on every request, when I thought that it is only to be called when Result Is Nothing Am I missing something here?

  • iPhone - Using sql database - insert statement failing

    - by Satyam svv
    Hi, I'm using sqlite database in my iphone app. I've a table which has 3 integer columns. I'm using following code to write to that database table. -(BOOL)insertTestResult { NSArray* paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString* documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString* dataBasePath = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"test21.sqlite3"]; BOOL success = NO; sqlite3* database = 0; if(sqlite3_open([dataBasePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { BOOL res = (insertResultStatement == nil) ? createStatement(insertResult, &insertResultStatement, database) : YES; if(res) { int i = 1; sqlite3_bind_int(insertResultStatement, 0, i); sqlite3_bind_int(insertResultStatement, 1, i); sqlite3_bind_int(insertResultStatement, 2, i); int err = sqlite3_step(insertResultStatement); if(SQLITE_ERROR == err) { NSAssert1(0, @"Error while inserting Result. '%s'", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); success = NO; } else { success = YES; } sqlite3_finalize(insertResultStatement); insertResultStatement = nil; } } sqlite3_close(database); return success;} The command sqlite3_step is always giving err as 19. I'm not able to understand where's the issue. Tables are created using following queries: CREATE TABLE [Patient] (PID integer NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT UNIQUE,PFirstName text NOT NULL,PLastName text,PSex text NOT NULL,PDOB text NOT NULL,PEducation text NOT NULL,PHandedness text,PType text) CREATE TABLE PatientResult(PID INTEGER,PFreeScore INTEGER NOT NULL,PForcedScore INTEGER NOT NULL,FOREIGN KEY (PID) REFERENCES Patient(PID)) I've only one entry in Patient table with PID = 1 BOOL createStatement(const char* query, sqlite3_stmt** stmt, sqlite3* database){ BOOL res = (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, query, -1, stmt, NULL) == SQLITE_OK); if(!res) NSLog( @"Error while creating %s => '%s'", query, sqlite3_errmsg(database)); return res;}

  • How to make ActiveRecord work with legacy partitioned/sharded databases/tables?

    - by Utensil
    thanks for your time first...after all the searching on google, github and here, and got more confused about the big words(partition/shard/fedorate),I figure that I have to describe the specific problem I met and ask around. My company's databases deals with massive users and orders, so we split databases and tables in various ways, some are described below: way database and table name shard by (maybe it's should be called partitioned by?) YZ.X db_YZ.tb_X order serial number last three digits YYYYMMDD. db_YYYYMMDD.tb date YYYYMM.DD db_YYYYMM.tb_ DD date too The basic concept is that databases and tables are seperated acording to a field(not nessissarily the primary key), and there are too many databases and too many tables, so that writing or magically generate one database.yml config for each database and one model for each table isn't possible or at least not the best solution. I looked into drnic's magic solutions, and datafabric, and even the source code of active record, maybe I could use ERB to generate database.yml and do database connection in around filter, and maybe I could use named_scope to dynamically decide the table name for find, but update/create opertions are bounded to "self.class.quoted_table_name" so that I couldn't easily get my problem solved. And even I could generate one model for each table, because its amount is up to 30 most. But this is just not DRY! What I need is a clean solution like the following DSL: class Order < ActiveRecord::Base shard_by :order_serialno do |key| [get_db_config_by(key), #because some or all of the databaes might share the same machine in a regular way or can be configed by a hash of regex, and it can also be a const get_db_name_by(key), get_tb_name_by(key), ] end end Can anybody enlight me? Any help would be greatly appreciated~~~~

  • C++ MACRO that will execute a block of code and a certain command after that block.

    - by Poni
    void main() { int xyz = 123; // original value { // code block starts xyz++; if(xyz < 1000) xyz = 1; } // code block ends int original_value = xyz; // should be 123 } void main() { int xyz = 123; // original value MACRO_NAME(xyz = 123) // the macro takes the code code that should be executed at the end of the block. { // code block starts xyz++; if(xyz < 1000) xyz = 1; } // code block ends << how to make the macro execute the "xyz = 123" statement? int original_value = xyz; // should be 123 } Only the first main() works. I think the comments explain the issue. It doesn't need to be a macro but to me it just sounds like a classical "macro-needed" case. By the way, there's the BOOST_FOREACH macro/library and I think it does the exact same thing I'm trying to achieve but it's too complex for me to find the essence of what I need. From its introductory manual page, an example: #include <string> #include <iostream> #include <boost/foreach.hpp> int main() { std::string hello( "Hello, world!" ); BOOST_FOREACH( char ch, hello ) { std::cout << ch; } return 0; }

  • How can several different datatypes be saved in one table

    - by poseidon
    This is my situation: I am constructing an ad-like application in Django and Mysql. I am using a flexible-ad approach where we have: a table with ad categories (several categories such as home, furniture, cars, etc.) id_category name a table with details for the ad categories (home: area, squared meters. car: seats, color.) id_detail id_category (the categ the detail describes) name type (boolean, char, int, long, etc.) the ad table (i am selling a house. i am selling a car.) id_ad id_category text date a table where i plan to consolidate the details of the ads (home: A-area, 500 sq-meters. car: 5 seats, red.) id_detail_ad id_ad id_detail value Is this possible? Can I have a table of details for all the ads, even if details include numbers, texts, booleans, etc? Or would I have to save them all as text and then interpret them via code accordingly? Please express your opinions. Thank you.

Thanks! #include<stdio.h> #include<math.h> int main (void) { int l = 5; int n, i, tmp, index; char * s[] = {"Sheldon", "Leonard", "Penny", "Raj", "Howard"}; scanf("%d", &n); //Solve Sigma(Ai*2^(i-1)) = (n - k)/l if (n/l <= 1) printf("%s\n", s[n-1]); else { tmp = n; for (i = 1;;) { tmp = tmp - (l * pow(2,i-1)); if (tmp <= 5) { // printf("Breaking\n"); break; } ++i; } printf("Last index = %d\n", i); // ***NOTE*** //Value lies in next array, therefore ++i; index = tmp + pow(2, n-1); printf("%d\n", index); } return 0; }

  • Time gaps between host clEnqueue_xxx calls

    - by dialer
    Consider these OpenCL calls (3 memcpy DtoH, 4313 cl_float elements each): clEnqueueReadBuffer(CommandQueue, SpectrumAbsMem, CL_FALSE, 0, SpectrumMemSize, SpectrumAbs, 0, NULL, NULL); clEnqueueReadBuffer(CommandQueue, SpectrumReMem, CL_FALSE, 0, SpectrumMemSize, SpectrumRe, 0, NULL, NULL); clEnqueueReadBuffer(CommandQueue, SpectrumImMem, CL_FALSE, 0, SpectrumMemSize, SpectrumIm, 0, NULL, NULL); When I analyze these with the NVIDIA visual profiler, I see that the actual memcpy operation only takes 8 us, but there is a significant gap of around 130 us after each memcpy. I'm already using the supposedly asynchronous method (the CL_FALSE in the argument list). When I use only one operation, but with three times the size, the operation is way faster. Why is the time gap between the actual memcpy operations so huge, whereas the gap between the kernel execution (exactly before these three operations) and the first memcpy is only 7us? Can I get rid of it, or do I need to accumulate more data before starting a memcpy? If so, is there a convenient way how I could combine mutliple arrays into a single contiguous block of memory, but still have a cl_mem object as a separate device memory pointer to each section?

  • Function calculating the probability of a letter in an sentence

    - by Mike
    I have a function that is supposed to calculate the number of times a letter occurs in a sentence, and based on that, calculate the probability of it occurring in the sentence. To accomplish this, I have a sentence: The Washington Metropolitan Area is the most educated and affluent metropolitan area in the United States. An array of structures, containing the letter, the number of times it occurs, and the probability of it occurring, with one structure for each letter character and an additional structure for punctuation and spaces: struct letters { char letter; int occur; double prob; }box[53]; This is the function itself: void probability(letters box[53], int sum { cout<<sum<<endl<<endl; for(int c8=0;c8<26;c8++) { box[c8].prob = (box[c8].occur/sum); cout<<box[c8].letter<<endl; cout<<box[c8].occur<<endl; cout<<box[c8].prob<<endl<<endl; } } It correctly identifies that there are 90 letters in the sentence in the first line, prints out the uppercase letter as per the structure in the second line of the for loop, and prints out the number of times it occurs. It continually prints 0 for the probability. What am I doing wrong?
